My personal distaste with your IC response is that it makes little sense. A backwater world, and you bring in a 40-ship fleet to an international incident.
I have a pet peeve about people being able to 'detect' space battles from light-years away. For the sake of story I can usually ignore these annoyances. But when people automatically bring in a war fleet to every encounter, with no prior recon... It just irks me. That people further continue to think that flying around in a war fleet trying to play local police is a good idea... also irks me.

Have a good reason for everything you do. Remember, even a tyrant or despot must still remember the needs of his people, lest said people revolt for the despot treating the nation like his personal play-toys.
