"Well you see, in my country term limits have been removed and terms are a long six years, and thanks to my countrymen at every new election my rule continues. I do not really worry about not ruling in a few years, because I will continue. Thus I don't worry about a replacement."

"I'm not an expert on democracy and I feel I will never be but something tells me that most democratic states won't remove term limits. At least the states I know that have those aren't so keen on doing that."

She shrugged. "Democracy is still a strange concept for me even though I want to bring some elements of it to my country so it can modernize with the rest of the world. Though if what you told is true than I may have to invite experts to help me properly introduce these democratic elements so they can work best with the system already in place with my country."

"You see, about a 100 years, during the 20th century, my country went through a revolution against the warmongering Caesar, the monarch of Langenia. It led to the institution of a democratic government, but the government was weak, political and military clashes ensued, living conditions worsened, and the government had to be overthrown to prevent the country from breaking apart. Thus, one of my ancestors, a man named Alejandro Furia overthrew the government with popular support, but this led to wars that lasted half a century with those supportive of the old government. After the country was reunited, other presidents tried, thrice, to reimplement democracy, but every time it had the same effect: anarchy. Thus, my people are suspicious of the system."

Hearing what he said about his nation's past with democracy made the woman frown. "Well I just better hope that trying to implement more democratic institutions work for a nation in peace than one that came out from a revolution."

She was slightly worried about how well her nation will fair with the reforms she has in mind but she wasn't deterred from implementing those reforms. She couldn't let her state become a stagnate relic but seeing from what Furia told her changing everything too suddenly wasn't a good idea either.

She suspected that would be the case and never truly thought of doing that but if her opponents heard his story they would feel more invigorated to stop any reforms from passing through.
