Baltic Sea
"What’s the report?" Captain Knud Pothorsson asked on board the AIS Keisaraskip.
"No vessels sir, it seems their initial attack was only by air."
"Keep patrolling, there’s no reason for them to bomb the crap out of Gotland without any future invasion plans."
The Baltic fleet would continue patrolling the area, scattered scouting reports indicated stationing of the PPC Navy in the South, eventually avail was found.
"Sir, reports of minelaying vessels and escorts in the Eastern Baltics!" Came the report
"Alright, get to intercepting them."
Multiple ships would follow the screening vessels, including a few destroyers, to attack and gain naval superiority in the region, and hope to stop the minelaying operations in the process. Despite the retreats on land, Aureumterra still prided herself as master of the seas, for now…
Jutland
It was clear the Germans had underestimated the Aureumterrese forces. The invading forces were minuscule compared to what they had expected, yet they were quickly reinforcing, both on land and in air. However, the Aureumterrese forces in the area were well-prepared, managing to resist most land attacks and, though taking losses, managed to prevent much of the additional air reinforcements coming in, with added Gripens to counter the German forces. These reinforcements could be afforded and managed due to the Russian slowdown in the East. One general even nicknamed this a "one front operation" for the time being.
Due to the fortification, however, and the relatively low mechanization of the Southern forces, they made little attempts to advance, instead used the temporary defeat of the Germans to further fortify and call for reinforcements, both air and land. The air superiority allowed the Auruemterrese to spot (and attempt to attack, if possible) the marine forces and prepare coastal defenses ahead of the German landing in the Danish islands, especially Sjælland.
Partial naval forces would attempt to keep supplies running and safe from the mainland to Jutland through the islands, in order to keep the army well maintained. Expecting a greater onslaught, two divisions, the 14th and 15th Fótgöngulið divisions reinforced the peninsula. The southern forces would be placed under the command of General Olaf Sigurdsson.
Africa
Colonel Gylfi Brennví was an exceptional man in the Aureumterrese empire. He was not of any noble stock, far from it, he had come from the most humble beginnings, but had risen far above what someone of his birth would usually be afforded. Indeed, his rise was based purely on meritocracy, so much that even the nepotistic and elitist Aureumterrese army saw his rise. However, he and everyone around him knew that the rank of colonel was the highest he would ever reach, and even then the seething prejudice against anyone of his stock was observable with the fact that he had been deployed down to the relatively low-populated Northern regions of Middelafrika, Aureumterra’s massive African colony, to command the garrison divisions.
He had longed for action when the war broke out, and indeed action he did see now. A hellish scene, large clouds of Reinkalistan planes descending upon the colony could be seen. The town had reeled from a missile strike, much of the damage had been mitigated to the quick interception of some of the missiles, leaving some of the anti-air forces untouched. However, many had indeed been lost and hence were unable to deal with the Reinkalistani forces in their full capacity.
"TO POSITIONS! GET TO POSITIONS! DEFEND THE COAST!" ordered the colonel as hellfire erupted in the city from the Reds. He wondered how the Reds, so intent on preserving "people’s values," could be so inhumane as to attack civilian targets without remorse. He, however, was first a colonel of the Imperial Army, and had to reluctantly order his surviving troops not to assist the wounded, bleeding, and dying people on the streets.
"They’re going to come for the coast. Get the remaining men to defenses!" came his swift orders. He had no time to assess how many men he had lost in the initial attack, although he expected a more incompetent officer in his place would’ve resulted in far more casualties. His main focus was defending the coast, and that was all that mattered to him at the moment.
Meanwhile, requests for air reinforcements were called, and local air forces were quick and prepared to sortie and retain air superiority over Africa. It was possible this maneuver would result in a prolonged dogfight between the two air forces, but the sortie attempted to respond to the increasingly destructive strategic bombing runs undertaken by Reinkalistan.
The colonel’s charismatic voice would be broadcast to soldiers, "The red menace seeks to destroy our nation and enslave our people. Hold them off until your very last breath!"
