ANARCHY GRIPS THE CAPITAL AS PARAMILITARY GROUPS SEIZE TOP RSZP MEMBERS AND ARMED INSURRECTIONISTS SEIZE AREAS OF THE CAPITAL.
Combat between pro-government and anti-government groups has seized the capital, with protests throughout the rest of the nation following an attack on the elected Senate.

As RSZP members met in the Palatial Senate Building today, a force of paramilitary personnel belonging to the 'New Granzery' and 'National Protection Units' militia groups stormed the Senate building, while state media has been silent on the fate of leading RSZP members who were present, Vezer Istvan Arpad announced that he and the Leading Committee of the Vezekabinet were safely located in the Royal Diet building, where security was not compromised. Involved in the attack were an estimated 15,000 paramilitary personnel, who overwhelmed Parliament security and while gunshots were heard by onlookers, reports indicate that no law enforcement or paramilitary personnel were killed.

An hour after they entered, paramilitary personnel left the Senate building, escorted out by Senate security. The Vezekabinet unilaterally agreed to extend the state of emergency and seize the role of the Senate, becoming both the legislative and executive branch of government, in a blatant fascist takeover of governmental proceedings.

Granzery was left stunned by the attack, and protestors took to the streets to demand confirmation of the safety of their Prime-Minister elect, Violetta Lakatos and of her transition cabinet. Granzerian State media has refused to comment on the state of the RSZP, but observers fear the worst, and many international observers have described the attack as a successful coup, and suggest that the paramilitary forces were involved in extrajudicial executions of the Republican Socialist Leadership. Protests in Veragyor turned violent as the same paramilitary forces, supported by Royal Gendarmerie and Provincial police forces, violently opposed the protests, leaving six dead and an unknown number wounded, including one Gendarme who was struck in the head by a molotov cocktail and later died of his wounds.

A few hours after the clashes in the capital, arrests began to be made, seizing known protestors and anti-government agitators, with an estimated 58 arrests being made in the hour immediately after the clashes. In response, anti-government groups armed themselves, marching to the capital, armed with rifles, clubs, molotovs, and fervour. Combat during the insurgency has been widely livestreamed by anti-government insurrectionists. As of 10pm on the 11th of January, 32 people have been killed in the fighting, with no end in sight as the Granzerian military begins to mobilize to assist in putting down dissenters.

Reports indicate that the Vezekabinet has been withdrawn from the Capital, and relocated to an unknown secure location, protected by Royal Gendarmerie.

PLA declares increased combat readiness for the Southern Military District
Amid concerns to Granzery's internal conflict, Gorbatov has begun to take precautions in any case of spillover that may occur.

As chaos grips the state of Granzery, Premier Konstantin Voroshilov held an emergency meeting with the PPG Politburo and the PLA General Staff concerning the ongoing crisis in the south, amid concerns of possible spillover into Gorbatov's borders. It is to be understood that the ongoing conflict within Granzery was spurred on by their recent election results, seeing the ruling Renaissance Party be ousted by the Republican Socialist Party, having won the most seats in the Granzerian Senate. In accordance, as detailed by the anarchy in Veragyor, such a result was not accepted by the supporters of the Renaissance Party, as right-wing paramilitaries stormed the Palatial Senate Building and supposedly were involved in extrajudicial killings of the Republican Socialist Party leadership. Amid this chaos, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an high-priority travel order for any Gorbatovic citizens to leave Granzery immediately and also the temporary closing of the Gorbatovic embassy and consulates in Granzery, as uncertainty and violence grips the Granzerian state.

Around 18:00 FVT, Premier Voroshilov's office released a brief statement concerning Gorbatov's plan of action to the ongoing conflict in Granzery. It mainly details the measures the PLA and the government will undertake as further precautions, given the risk of spillover into Gorbatov. To this fact, the statement details the declaration of increased combat readiness for the Southern Military District, with the 8th Tank Army and the 9th Army being reactivated and are set to be stationed near the Gorbatov-Granzery border. In addition to such precautions, population centers near the Gorbatov-Granzery border are declared with curfews from 21:30 till 6:00 FVT; it is not detailed when such curfews will end, though it is presumed to end once this crisis in Granzery is over.

While the unrest ensuing in Ausferiland has been a major cause for concern for us, including our Temischan counterparts stationed in our country, it has become increasingly obvious that the events currently taking place in Granzery could prove to be an even bigger threat. The coup forces have nothing but hatred for us ever since their failures in Ausferiland, thus our republic may be a target for their violence. For this reason, we will be placing the Zolevskoyan armed forces in a state of high alert, and must be able to respond to any incidents within 48 hours effective immediately.

Although no violence against Zolevskoyans have been reported so far, the government fears that they may be in the crossfire of the violence in the country or, worse yet, be targeted. Although not likely either, attacks in Zolevskoy proper are not improbable either. As of January 16th, the Republic of Zolevskoy Home Guard will be increasing it's patrols around national landmarks, and extra security will be provided for federal property, such as the Montazh and other government institutions. The air force will also be in a state of higher readiness as well, in the event of any hostile actions in the air. Finally, although unlikely to take place, the ground forces and air force have drawn up plans in the event that an evacuation of Zolevskoyans, primarily in Veragyor, is necessary. Our embassy in the country has already been evacuated without issue, but we must be ready in case tourists and such need our hand.

The situation is constantly changing, and updates will be provided as needed. Extra vigilance is especially important in these turbulent times, but rest assured that any hostilities against our country and independence will be met with twice the force.

01/17/2021 - Zolevskoyan armed forces and home guard on high alert as Ausferiland and Granzery battle unrest

Disorder continues to spiral out of control in Ausferiland and Granzery, prompting the Zolevskoyan armed forces to be placed on a high state of alert for an indefinite time. The home guard has also announced today that patrols will be increased around major attractions and landmarks throughout Zolevskoy, in addition to providing extra security around government buildings and institutions. These announcements come less than 24 hours after president Nedyalko Valov was briefed on the newest developments in both countries, amid rising fears that anti-government actors may begin targeting others. These fears have especially been rampant as rumors that Granzerian PM-elect Violetta Lakatos and Secretary-General Braun may be dead.

Just yesterday, the Zolevskoyan embassy in Veragyor was evacuated, and any Zolevskoyan tourists in the country for any reason were strongly advised by the government to return home as soon as possible. President Valov also explained that the situation was being monitored as close as possible, despite constantly evolving and worsening seemingly by the minute. The president also made it clear that if Zolevskoyans are threatened, whether within or outside of the chaotic states, a response will be "prompt and appropriate". It is unknown whether he is willing to use military force based off his statement, though. Criticisms were also made regarding the Gorbatovic response to the crisis in Granzery, claiming that the PLA's large scale moves so close to the border were creating "unnecessary volatility", and calling curfews near the border "draconian and, unsurprising from Voroshilov, totalitarian". Nonetheless, as eastern Vesperia continues to unravel into chaos, Nedyalko Valov vowed to ensure the protection of any Zolevskoyans and allies in need.
