Isaanni-New Antaricanian War (IC/Post-MT/Fan-T/TG entry)

After somewhat heavy fighting, the Kyundaoan invasion force has taken the Sharifistani Riviera from the Sharifistani Army. The Kyundaoan Navy taskforce places SAM sites all over the area, even on the rooftops of booby trapped civilian buildings. Meanwhile Kyundaoan UAVs elsewhere fire guided missiles at the Baydorian tanks and troops, severely reducing their numbers.

Back at the Riviera, Islamic clerics are rounded up and imprisoned. Convicts who were imprisoned for crimes that were neither sexual nor antisemitic are recruited into the Kyundaoan Foreign Legion on the condition that they renounce Islam. Qurans are set on fire and mosques are demolished. The Sharifistani civilians who resisted these actions are shot and killed by Kyundaoan forces.

Hopalian forces lead by Major Harvei Dunoskoi take positions around the Sharifistani Riviera, preparing for a surprise attack on the Kyundaon invasion force.

Unbeknownst to them, Kyundaoan UAVs detected them and fired guided missiles on the Hopalian forces killing around half of them along with Major Harvei Dunoskoi. The Kyundaoan occupiers are suddenly alerted to the Hopalian forces' presence and take up defensive positions as well as set up IEDs along the roads.

An aide would rush into the President’s office, his arms laden with papers.

“President Trenit, I have the latest intelligence reports here.”

The President would grab the papers, and would read it.

“More war in the Middle East? Well, I suppose we could gain some resources from this. However, we will need a very good reason to get the Senate to approve a declaration of war.”

He would pull out a piece of paper and a pen, and would begin to dictate a letter to the Chief Intelligence Officer of the Trenakan Federal Intelligence Agency.

“What if, for example, some definitely not fictitious Trenakans were murdered by the Sharifstani government, on purpose.”

Two Hours Later, Trenakan Central Intelligence Office, Augsburg, Trenaka

An officer would be in a cubicle, typing away on his computer. Suddenly, he would get a notification from a “field agent” in Sharifstan, exposing that the Sharifstani government had murdered 5 Trenakan citizens vacationing in Trenaka for knowledge about the military, because those citizens were former soldiers. He ran to the Chief Intelligence Officer’s office, and informed him. He immediately left the building to drive to Munich and the Senate building, to announce it to the Senate.

Senate Building, Munich, Trenaka

The Senators would be fiercely debating a new bill, when suddenly, the Chief Intelligence Officer, burst into the Senate Chamber.

“Senators! Our citizens have been attacked!” he would shout.

The senators would all start shouting, until they were interrupted.

“Order!” the new Chief Speaker would shout. “Let him speak!”

“Thank you, Speaker,” the Chief Intelligence Officer said. “As I said before, our citizens have been attacked. In the Sultanate of Sharifstan, 5 Trenakan citizens on vacation there have been murdered by their government. I call upon this Senate to declare war on Sharifstan!”

Various senators would immediately speak up, requesting to speak. The Speaker would recognize Senator James Klein, who would call a vote for war against Sharifstan. The vote would pass overwhelmingly, with a count of 99-0, with one abstention.

Rosenheim Air Base, Rosenheim, Trenaka

People would scurry along the runway, fueling planes, entering planes, and guiding them to take off. A total of 480 planes would take off, which is a total of 60 air squadrons. These squadrons consist of 5 fighter planes, 2 bombers, and one heavy bomber. The planes would begin their flight to the Sultanate of Sharifstan, to strike at their static air defenses and their Air Force.

Meanwhile, the Trenakan government would begin cyber attacks on Sharifstan, targeting their military.

But the Hopalians reach the towns of the Riviera, where fierce combat breaks out with Major Harvei Dunoskoi takes a bullet defending a group of soldiers defusing a bomb. In the air, Hopalian air superiority aircraft manage to take out many of the Kyundaoan UAVs, and bombers move in.

Kyundaoan fighter squadrons deployed from aircraft carriers intercept the Hopalian fighters and bombers, destroying most of them while suffering a few casualties and forcing the remaining Hopalian aircraft to call off the airstrikes. The Kyundaoan Navy, having brought an additional 100 UAVs as a precaution, begin conducting more UAV attacks and deploying Imperial Kyundaoan Army reinforcements numbering around 250,000.

While in the air Hopalian air strikes may have failed on the ground the battle rages on. The fighting remains tense and fierce, and with the death of the leader of the attack Major Dunoskoi, Lieutenant Juvak Gurson takes leadership. While the Hopalian soldiers may be at a disadvantage, as the they are the ground and have Kyundoan snipers reigning terror on them, a young Private Johnny Morrat makes a tactile use of grenades and manages to bomb many Kyundoan held buildings, killing many of the Kyundoan snipers. The Hopalian soldiers manage to break through the Kyundoan soldiers and march to and capture the main mosque of the town.

While the Hopalian soldiers may be at a disadvantage, as the they are the ground and have Kyundoan snipers reigning terror on them, a young Private Johnny Morrat makes a tactile use of grenades and manages to bomb many Kyundoan held buildings, killing many of the Kyundoan snipers. The Hopalian soldiers manage to break through the Kyundoan soldiers and march to and capture the main mosque of the town.

The 250,000 strong Kyundaoan reinforcements arrive, eventually overrunning and killing the Hopalian forces beyond the premises of the ruined mosque. The remaining Hopalian forces are completely surrounded and with limited supplies, fight on until the last Hopalian is slain.

In the midst of the ongoing war that was shaking the Sultanate throughout its territory, one lone, empty refugee boat washed up on Sharifistan's western shore. Empty, that is, save for a few faded patches of blood caked onto its surface, and countless strange pustules, like balls of stretched skin, slowly rolling across the deck and floating in the water beside it. Upon reaching the coast, it simply rested the harbour - yet masked by its stillness was the teeming activity of hundreds, if not thousands, of tiny globules running off its sides and into the water, streaming into the Sultanate's canals and sewage systems from the coastline. Slowly, but steadily, starting from the port city they had arrived in, they began to seep into its water supply, their membranes dissolving to release the mysterious substance within. Only time would tell what effects it would have on those it reached.

In the meantime, something far more conspicuous had reached the Sultanate's canals and rivers - the same capsules that had assaulted the disguised troop at sea were now pressing upstream into the nation's inland ports, carrying with them legions of skinboys contained within to be unleashed upon unsuspecting Sharifistani towns. Wave after wave clambered out from the waters to run wild onto dry land, terrorising civilian populations as they spewed bodily fluids like harpoons and smashed through their victims with clubs of flesh. Within a matter of hours, tens of thousands were swarming through the Sultanate, a tide of lecherous, inhuman fiends running rampant and wreaking havoc, their prodigiously thick hide rendering them unimpeded from all but the deadliest of bullets.

Mediterranean Sea

A great, monolithic line of ships lined up. Transport ships, escorts; did it matter? All were headed to Sharifistan, and, perhaps, for the last time.
Sharifistan had long been a thorn in the Commonwealth's side. No more; a national coalition had been established that would, this time, march on Sharifistan and end it once and for all. The Commonwealth's reinforcements consisted of land forces; the I and II. Marinebrigades were the coastal entry unit, with the Guards Cuirassiers and 1st and 2nd Guards Grenadiers as follow-on forces.

Within this great assembly of ships and men was Karl Stortebeker; a youngish naval infantryman of 24, but already an NCO due to odd technicalities with the Prussian-Polish rank system. This would be his first battle, and despite the shared jokes and humor amongst his fellow naval-infantry, he could feel their nerves too. Sharifistan, regardless of it's competence, was still a regional power, and invading it would not be a walk in the park.

The first shot was a furious bombardment of Saranidia's coastal defenses by the flotilla. This was rapidly followed-up with mechanized naval infantry landing ashore and rapidly moving inland, assisted by armor, artillery, naval gunfire, and air strikes from the ORP Jadwiga of Poland and from attack aircraft and bombers in Sicily. Meanwhile, Sharifistani troops would find their communications completely jammed, with the only sound their radios were making being a tape that would cause any that had been posted to Germany immediately scream in horror.
It called Rain with Cappuccino, and it was a melodious, jazzy song, sung in Japanese. It was also the primary electronic warfare tape of the ORP Visby, and had caused the surrender of Hamburg after a week of blasting the song on full volume.

Karl himself was one of the later troops to come ashore. The damp, wide-open beach soon gave way to flat plains with intermittent sand dunes, and soon he found himself in intermittent firefights as his APC and squad trundled inland.

Brigader-General Oliver Hood was not a happy man, most of the time. This, however, seemed to be an exception.
Amid the unloading units of the Heer, the naval-infantryman stood, rubbing his stubble and grinning ear-to-ear. The old Englishman had a few ANGLO tricks up his sleeve-an ace in the hole, if you will-and he only needed Sharifistan to make a mistake to put his plans into action.

The Hopalians eventually managed to regain the grounds of the former mosque and after tense fighting, and quite a few causalities drive the Kyundoan out of the town.

The 1,500,000 Kyundaoan Army troops and 500,000 Kyundaoan Foreign Legion troops were immediately notified by the retreating Kyundaoans that one of the towns had been taken by Hopalian reinforcements. Together with the Kyundaoans from earlier, 800,000 Army troops and 100,000 Foreign Legion troops completely surrounded the entire Hopalian-occupied town. This blockade numbered around 1,100,000 and with 750,000 more Kyundaoan soldiers on the way, the total number of Kyundaoan troops in the Riviera was going to be nearly 3,000,000.

The Hopalians in the Riviera had nowhere to run. There were simply too many Kyundaoans in the region and it didn't help that the Kyundaoans not only still had plenty of UAVs flying around, but also destroyed the town's SAM sites to prevent the Hopalians from shooting the UAVs down.
