Langenia has decided to send that flotilla of the Langenian Revolutionary Navy's Western Fleet that is based out of our installations in Vu Den Voc to sortie and monitor the Artherian fleet. Each flotilla consists of a carrier battle group, centered around a supercarrier, an expeditionary battle group, centered around an amphibious assault ship, a surface battle group, centered around a large guided missile cruiser, a submarine group, and a support group. We have no desire to undermine relations with the United Artherian Federation and call on both sides to exercise restraint, to avoid a larger regional, or even global, conflict.

Indeed. Until then, the Saharian Expeditionary flotilla will remain above Abbeyverne under the jurisdiction of their joint-command. I suggest we organize an official temporary organization for all expeditionary units under the banner of Abbeyverne. All allied combatants, please contact us so we can set up the details. We would like to set this up quickly and cleanly, with no escalation until the situation is officially resolved.

| Fifty Kilometers from the coast of Vu Den Voc, U-767 (Legend-class strike Submarine)
U-767 slid stealthily through the water screening the fleet to make sure that any hostile ships would not be able to attack the massive flagship, the supredreadnaught Obliteration. She was a great target for anyone who would want to put an enormous dent in the Artherian war chest. A blistering two-kilometres long, she was the much more expensive (and devastating) analog of what a carrier was four decades ago, a force projector. Sporting twenty thousand vertical launch systems, she was capable of defending herself against air attack, however, due to her size, she was a nice meal for submarines. Hence, the screen.
"Multiple surface and subsurface contacts, bearing 179 degrees. Designated Bogeys 1-40. Range fifty clicks. Initiating identification."
Kapitän Manstein sighed.
"Up coms mast."
"Aye."
As the communications mast was raised, Manstein grabbed the mic and hailed the Obliteration.

"Lead, this is U-767. We have at least forty contacts bearing 179. Range fifty."
"As do we, Kapitän. They are Langenian and currently respecting our personal space, however if that were to change they'll need to have a talk with our main guns. Keep an eye on them."
"Aye."

And with that, U-767 continued on its way, escorting the Obliteration as the fleet made its way to the staging point. They were prepared to invade Vu Den Voc, but since there seemed to be a lull in the fighting, the invasion was pushed back to see how peace negotiations would play out. But there seemed to be a lack of negotiation, so for now, the Reich was still at war with Vu Den Voc.
Lt. Commander Josef Fischer, F/A-44. In orbit around the fleet.
Lt. Commander Fischer sighed. He was preparing for retirement after ten years in the Kriegsmarine when was suddenly deployed to some god-forsaken area of the world and told to fly combat patrols. Despite this he was content. He had gotten the opportunity to fly in his prized aircraft once more. Plus, combat pay was great. He could finally pay off that house he bought for when he retired after this deployment. Looking out his canopy he admired the blue waters below him. He also looked to his wingman, Lt. Commander Alex Jaeger. Jaeger was a fairly new F/A-44 pilot on his second deployment behind the fighter stick. He transferred from the Heer's helicopter wing two years ago.

"Hey Fischer, just got a notification from the wing commander. We've got a Langenian fleet trailing us. Apparently we need to go take a look at them and report back what we see."

Josef sighed.

"Did you get the location?"
"Of course. Sendingit to you now."

He input the co-ordinates into his GPS and then turned toward the fleet, climbing to fifteen-thousand, Alex following suit. After a good ten minutes of flying they arrived and kept five kilometres from the fleet, observing their activity and keeping a close eye on their radar warning receiver. They waited to see the Langenians reaction.|

The Descent

The Avenger began its slow descent through the atmosphere just above the far coast of Vu Den Voc. The ship's new power generators drew more and more power as the descent continued. They were now only twenty kilometers from the ocean's surface. Against protocol, they had forgone any detailed scans of the planet, as they expected nothing much greater than the primitive defense forces of any other 21st century-equivalent. Moments later, sensors picked up something big.

"Confirmed, that's at least two kilometers in length. Dozens of smaller surface contacts as well as hundreds of fighter aircraft..." The Avenger's captain stepped over to the wall-mounted console to see for himself.

"That's easily larger than any ship the VDY has constructed. Get me a high-level scan of that ship!"

Just before the Avenger fell below the cloud line, they began broadcasting greetings on all radio frequencies. Surprisingly, they hadn't been interpreted as an immediate threat and fired upon - for better or worse.

"Sir, they will easily detect a stronger scan..."

"They already know we are here by now. Continue the descent as normal."

The ship had raised its shields when the scans completed. The Comms officer spoke again, doubling-over the scans. "That thing's carrying enough firepower to overmatch a Conqueror-class Cruiser!"

At this point, there wasn't any doubt - the Artherian military was far more sophisticated than any pre-spaceflight civilization on record. The presence of such an impressive fleet would not bode well for peace negotiations, and the soon-to-come encounter above the Artherian Fleet could result in total disaster.

Somebody else decided it would be fun to invade me. I am deploying two carrier groups and one amphibious assault force to Abbeyvernian South Vietnam. Hopefully there won't be a war, but we're still garrisoning the place.
