That was the news we heard on the Alyxandretan News Network, the President Alexei Romanov was found in his bed after suffering a heart attack,the rumour mill already went into overdrive, he had always had powerful enemies with his own government, especially after initiating reforms of the military and of the political structure of the nation.

Three days earlier the President had received a threat from an organization known as 'The Brothers of Sovereignty' a radical group that felt he was placing the republic under undue stress and having a man like the president whose own family were pro-monarchists and himself a sympathizer with the royalists in charge was crippling the nation. And now, he was dead.

June 27th 2011, the nation was in mourning for the president who although hated by many politicians and some radicals was well loved by the poorer and less well off citizens of the nation as he had instigated many welfare programs that had given them so much.

June 28th... the capital city, Alexandria, was now placed under martial law as the mourning turned to protesting which inevitably turned to violence, armed groups seeing a chance for revolution began looting and attacking military outposts within the city. The acting head of state, Premier Justinian Sakho decreed that anyone trying to seize power would be jailed... he was later found dead after the Parliament of Alyxandreta ordered power be passed to General Mikhail Bekha thus placing the nation under military leadership.

Now the fight for Alyxandreta's heart and soul was to begin, pro government groups, ethnic minorities, pro royalist and radical fundamentalists all vying for power within this weakened nation... what is Alyxandreta's fate.

Elections at the moment are a major concern, but with the recent developments involving several splinter factions ranging from Christian to Islamic fundamentalists, Pro Monarchy groups wishing to restore the exiled Royal Family and several figures within our own government whom for this moment in time are trying to establish themselves as the premier in the absence of an established government.

WE face the very possibility of the nation being divided up amongst these groups and instability taking complete control. Elections will be held but we fear that our military will not be able to contain the population until such time.







The armed forces of Alyxandreta are too thinly stretched across the nation, the rebel groups forming know this and the largest of them, The Constantine League has announced its intent to secede from the Republic and create a democratic region to the north of the Capital, in the heartlands of the old Empire. The Constantine League is a pro democratic branch of well known Christian Fundamentalist group, The Brothers of Sovereignty. This alliance features several members of Alyxandretan parliament and military, creating fears many of the military may join this newly formed breakaway state.

More and more 'declarations' of independence within the nation have caused the ruling government, the interim parliament led by the Grand General Bekha to declare martial law across the nation, the armed forces even more spread thinly out now is on the verge of collapse and full scale civil war is inevitable.

Due to the desperation of this situation, the Federation is authorizing a division of Praetorian Guard to keep law and order (Praetorians are the best of the best, the Elite by a large margin in my military.)

The offer of Saartian Peacekeeping forces have been accepted, we shall place under Saartian Peacekeeping forces our own Carpanis based troops numbering 10,000.

Our own Intel places the number of armed forces operating within Carpanis City & the Province at near to 20, 000, many of these are poorly trained civilians who are drawn to the Communist cause whilst the core are hardened former military men who have access to weapons and supplies and are ready for a prolonged battle.


It emerged today that the offshore city of Sinapurum has seen terrorist attacks, the perpetrators of these attacks have been named as the splinter faction of the Islamic Brotherhood, Al-Saladin. Even cities and states which belong to the Republic that aren't directly on the continent are facing internal struggles.

The Alyxandretan News Network today also reported claims by high ranking officials that the exiled Royal Family or at least a high ranking member of the family was due to return to the nation to hold talks with the interim head of state and his council and ambassadors of allied nations.

Division is a little much, 10,000 to 30,000 troops. Since the entire Praetorian Guard is only around the size of a Corps, then I am sending you a Regiment (5,000) of Praetorian Guards.

Today the island state of Sinapurum is to be reinforced with 4000 Federation troops whilst another 1000 are sent to the Bekhaeran province to ensure no rebellion take place. Communist forces within the Carpanis region have taken another victory today over depleted Alyxandretan forces when three cities near the city of Carpanis surrendered to Communist forces now taking their control of the region to near 90%.

In other news the coalition of republican and monarchists arrived at the island of Cordoba today for the conference between ALyxandretans and their allies. one of the first to arrive was Federation ambassador Austin Zachary who said,

"Maybe we can end this conflict with diplomacy but conflict and acts of terrorism have already started and may get worse."

Also arriving soon after was Prince Ryan Alexander, heir in exile whose supporters convinced him to return despite a threat of execution looming over his head if he returned to his homeland, he said to ANN,

"The interim head of state, General Bekha has granted me a stay of execution as it were, he realises the Imperial supporters are a substantial majority within the nation and its diaspora are fervent supporters of the crown but this is not a matter of restoration, it is a matter of saving the nation where I was born and saving it from itself."

<<BKR heavy flight 511 approaching Alyxandretan airspace, over.>>
Three IL-76s of the Birkanian Air Force began turning around to head towards Alyxandretan airspace, under the guise of simple BirkAir Cargo craft. They supposedly were going towards a large alyxandretan airport carrying supplies. However, in truth, one of the planes carried a single Tor TELAR air defence vehicle, and the rest were loaded with RPGs and other weaponry. There was also a Merkava tank included.

While not of much strategical importance, it was proof that the Birkanians were on their side, and more shipments would come later. That is, in exchange for trade concessions and oil when they took power. The planes kept flying steadily towards a short airstrip of the Al-Saladin islamic faction.

"Reached wapoint three" the pilot of the lead craft said "You know what to do"
"Ok, tell the crew to open the cargo bay" The co-pilot said, before ordering the engineers to prepare and drop the cargo as the plane started to drop altitude.
<<This is BKR heavy 511, we're suffering from severe engine trouble. We'll have to land in the closest airstrip, out>> He said over the radio. The other two planes dropped their cargo of weapon crates, deploying parachutes, and finally turned back into Birkanian airspace. The lead of the formation did a rough landing in an isolated Al-Saladin airstrip.

Many soldiers stepped out of the planes to help bring out the cargo, along with one man, Colonel Vladimir Zhtakov, charged with providing support to the islamics. He personally didn't give a damn about their cause, but this would be beneficial for Birkaine. He saluted the Al-Saladin officer that greeted him.
"Mr. Zhtakov" The officer said, wearing a field uniform, black aviator glasses and in front of two guards "I think your armament would be much more beneficial if it was easier for our troops to access"
"I brought trainers with me, you'll learn to use the weaponry" Zhtakov replied
"Using the weapons isn't the problem" The officer replied. Judging by his expression, he was pretty pissed
"What do you mean, General Farabi?" Zhtakov asked.

After some minutes, he was carried on a jeep to the drop point of the weaponry, which was in a wood a few hundred meters away from the flat spot they were supposed to be dropped in. While the Merkava and most weapon crates had survived the landing, the Tor SAM vehicle's parachutes had gotten ensnared with the thick vegetation and the tank had fallen from its platform and crashed aganist the surface upside-down.

"I'm pretty sure this will help us a damn lot in this conflict!" Farabi said.
"Um... excuse us" Zhtakov stuttered "I'm pretty sure the next shipments will be much more precise. And valuable, of course. We keep our promises"

Day 3 of the conference was coming to its end, nothing really had been resolved, the allies were doing their part but there wasn't enough to go around, complete control of the capital had been given to Augmark Corporation who wee being marshaled by General Bekha himself thus allowing the Army to quickly secure other parts of the country. Order had been restored to at least a quarter of the country but instability was rife, some counties and states were becoming badlands, areas that were deemed hostile.

The Bekhaeran State to the south had flared up but any rebellion was stopped by the efforts of the Praetorian Legions sent there. The North of the country was quickly seceding away as all military attempts had failed and even worse, the island of Sinapurum was constantly involved in fighting between Praetorians and Islamic terrorists.

The Interim head of state General Bekha today decreed that the military that had been exiled from Alyxandreta along with the royal family was due to return today to bolster the diminishing numbers, this marked a great step towards possible restoration but neither side of the Alliance offered to comment.
