It has been five years since Emperor Titus Helvius Venatius defeated his brother Marcus the Usurper, and since then he has ushered in an age of unprecedented technological advancements and prosperity. The Emperor also has been without an heir, and upon pressure from his council, decides to marry the previously unknown Antoniae Galvisia. Both the commoners and the nobility alike are stunned, especially the venerable Duke Friedger Wintersend, who was enraged upon hearing that his granddaughter, Wilfriede, would not be Empress. The wedding ceremony, however, has been promised to be the greatest event of the century, and while only the Empire's upper nobility and various foreign dignitaries will be allowed to attend the ceremony, the commonfolk of the Empire have been given permission to celebrate, with many taverns selling ale and mead for only one aeris.

Hello, and welcome to the Phoenix Wedding, an RP with court intrigue, murder, diplomacy, and maybe a few duels. All that good stuff. Anyway, while this is a fantasy RP, I will be willing to accept non-fantastical nations and characters, but try and keep the tech pre-industrial era. Now keep in mind, your characters have to be not insanely overpowered. Now, for some rules.

1. No firearms, this is a wedding, not a firefight.
2. Melee weapons are allowed (swords, maces, etc), but should be kept in their sheathes.
3. A maximum of four personal guards. Guards may have firearms.
4. A maximum of two characters so the palace doesn't get filled to the brim.
5. No metagaming, godmodding, or being a dick.
6. Minimum one paragraph per post.
7. Have fun.

The docks are at the bottom of a slope, with the Imperial Palace at the top. However, due to the many buildings, one cannot see the palace from the docks. The docks lead to the Merchant District and the Umbra District. The Merchant District is where the Grand Bazaar is along with the quickest route to the palace. The Umbra District, however, is full of brothels, shanty towns, and the occasional garrison. The Umbra District is quite dangerous, and is the farthest away from the palace. The way Prince Argalaic entered, through Victory Gate, leads right to the Imperial Palace, so he avoided most of the unpleasantness of the docks.
