Chaos in Laubenhugel as Coup attempt thwarted by Kaiserin Loyalists
Laubenhugel, Lunderfrau; July 3rd 2020
The capital of the Matriarchy descended into chaos today as the Kaiserin’s government fought back a coup of discontents. As of 10:00pm local time, nearly all pockets of resistance had been neutralized and agitators arrested. The Kaiserin is reported to be tucked safely away deep within the walls of the Palace Bunker. Marshall Law was quickly declared for Laubenhugel and its surrounding suburbs and will remain in affect til noon tomorrow according to a Military spokesperson.
The Coup began shortly after 6:00 AM when several Precincts of the Laubenhugel police we’re overrun by armed individuals. Shortly after, Reports of gunfights breaking out between Loyalists and agitators came in from several Government facilities. By 6:30 AM the city of Laubenhugel declared a state of emergency due to unrest and the Kaiserin declared martial law. The majority of the coup forces appear to be members of the National Police Force as well as some of the Military Reserves. By Sunrise, the coup forces had taken several fortified positions within in the city, but had failed to capture the Palace, Military HQ and MBD HQ among other high profile sites. Around 7:00 AM, the Kaiserin reportedly ordered a Social Media blackout due to Coup supporters using various sites to coordinate attacks. Around the same time, the Military reportedly activated and deployed the cities Garrison Regiment of around 5,000 individuals to quell the coup.
Gunfights between the Laubenhugel Garrison and Coup supporters were sporatic throughout the late morning and early afternoon, as the agitators attempted to take the Palace on three separate occasions and we’re beaten back all three times. At 4:06 PM, Agitators from the South Side Police Precinct attempted to rush the National Media Headquarters, but were repelled by Garrison forces. Shortly after around 4:30 PM, local reports indicated that the 1st Armored Division Dragoons arrived to assist the local Garrison in uprooting the agitators. While exact numbers are uknown, it is believed that Military forces loyal to the Kaiserin within Laubenhugel numbered around 10,000 while preliminary estimates for Coup members varies between 800-2,000 broken up between 5 Police Precincts.
The Afternoon and Early evening saw the most intense gunfights of the day, with Loyalist forces sieging and breaching all 5 agitator held precincts. Reports indicate that Loyalist forces suffered minimal casualties with 4 deaths, while current information suggests that casualties for the agitators could be as high as 400 individuals. In addition, nearly 1,200 arrests have been made thus far.
As of now (10:00 PM Local Time) no group or individual has come forward as the perpetrator of the attack on the very foundation of our nation. Nearly all Duchess’s of Lunderfraus 10 duchies have heightened there own security and have sent messages of solidarity to the Kaiserin. However, no news has come from Duchess Claudia Stein of Hinterwaldr. Reports from the capital of Hinterwaldr, Moosehausen suggest that the Duchess, her family and high ranking members of her personal circle departed early this morning aboard a private jet, it’s destination listed as Lunderfrau’s popular Tourist Island St. Spoofy. However flight records and ATC from St. Spoofy airport do not list the Duchess’s private Jet as having touchdown at St. Spoofy at any time today. The Kaiserin has yet to comment on the Duchess’s disapearence a this time, in addition the MBD refused to comment, citing policies against speaking to the media without the Kaiserin’s consent during an official investigation.
