The Ankedo Islands have been claimed by both Pohnei and Kergstan for decades until they ratified the Ankedo Peace Agreement in 1980 which guaranteed the designtion of Akani Island and Onapet Island as neutral territory in which the local Anakedai people numbering around 2.000 could practice their own traditions without any kind of interference.
The peace agreement though is set to end on June 15th 2020 as the agreement included a provision calling for a joint commission in order to outline a partition of the islands by 2018.
It was tried unsuccesfully on June 2018 and that's when the Kergstan authorities decided to build an artificial island comprising a runway and a small military base, 14 km south of the Ankedo Islands.
Pohneian authorities expressed disdain at Kergstan actions but due to the alleged relations between Kergstan's military and Pohnei's separatist movements, Pohnei's far weaker military and economic power they haven't escalated the situation further but have asked for international support against the alleged illegal actions of Kergstan.
The Ankedo Island are located 600 km from the southernmost tip of Kergstan and around 450 km from the northernmost point of Pohnei.
They're covered in lush rain forests and have white beaches.
The islands don't have any particular economic finance other than the rich fishing waters.
How will YN react to those events? Call for peace, support a side, offer help of any kind?
Uncertainty is the word, everything could end peacefully or be just the start of a large-scale war.
