Before Novvy Krasivaya had a chance to respond, the Serpens Land Coalition made the first strike against Novvy Krasivaya, hitting their capital. As far as reports coming from the area aware, the Krasivayain Leadership is safe. This first strike, however, changed this from a territorial dispute that had a ship sunk, possibly under a misunderstanding, into a war.”

The Caesar leaned back in his chair, taking in what the Officer had just said, and looking through the packet. Sighing he turned to his defense minister, Rusonia Octobriana. “Rusonia, what is your take on this?”

“Mr. Caesar, this situation is tough. We don’t want to get involved in a war, however, the Krasivayains will probably need all the help they can get.”

“Aye. A war is never a good thing to get involved in. However, this is blatant aggression that cannot go unpunished. I will send a message to the Krasivayain leader. Rusonia, have the closest battle group divert to Novvy Krasivaya immediately, and have a second prepare to get underway.

The message came over secure channels. The fleet had a new location to go to: Novvy Krasivaya.

At exactly 11:00 pm Eastern Time, five Delageonian satellites are detected moving out of their usual orbits. At 12:00 pm, a Serpens Land satellite goes off-line. Over the next three hours, 5 Serpens Land and 7 Joyean military satellites are destroyed by Delageon anti-satellite vessels. All Delageon satellites are switched to defence mode, and multiple satellite defence vessels are activated and at attention.

Across Delageon anti-missile systems are activated and put on high alert. Several Mobile SAM's are transported to Novyy Krasivaya, and five jet squadrons are sent to help patrol the Krasivayan Coast. Delageon citizens are told to lockdown and a curfew is imposed.

The King issues an official statement. "What Joyea has done is completely irrational and unacceptable in this modern world. Their actions must be punished immediately, otherwise, it will set a terrible precedent for future military actions. The Kingdom of Delageon is hereby declaring war on Serpens Land and all of its allies, including Joyea, in order to protect the national sovereignty of Novyy Krasivaya and resolve this petty conflict."

With that, the squadron turns and blasts towards the location of the battle. As they approach, an anti-satellite weapon is launched at an enemy satellite, creating a blind spot in communications around the area of the battle.

The Nautae, a junior grade officer in the Space Force, sat at a station monitoring the telemetry from the Roman’s Ballistic Missile Early Warning Satellite network. It was a slow, boring job, as most nations were sensible enough to not launch any ballistic missiles, because there was no way to know if a launched ICBM had a nuke on it or not, and no nation was willing to wait and find out before ordering a counter strike. Launching an ICBM strike was the quick, surefire way to start a nuclear war. He had just gotten back to his station from getting coffee when he saw it: the tell tale infrared signature of a ballistic missile launch.

Using the data fed from the satellite, the computer quickly computed the likely location of where it originated and where it would land. “Those Lushankians are nuking the Krasivayains” he muttered as he reported it to his superior, who then kicked it up the chain.

Back in Serpens Land, the Krasivayan fleet has been undeterred by attacks by Serpens Land coalition aircraft. A squadron of 15 SF-106 fighters suffered heavy losses while only managing to sink 1 Krasivayan warship. The Royal Serpens Land Navy has been sent to intercept the Krasivayan fleet. It is made up of 6 frigates, 3 patrol vessels and 8 submarines. The amphibious assault ship HMSLS Magnificent and the frigate HMSLS Dyer remain in port as a last resort defence. Meanwhile, the Royal Serpens Land Air Force is preparing for the worst. A strike team of fighters has been tasked with the mission of launching Serpens Land's 100 AGM-224C Nemesis air launched nuclear armed cruise missiles if the Krasivayan Coalition launches a nuclear strike on Serpens Land or her allies.
