Due to the fact that they didn't really have time to forge a traditional crown of gold or other precious metals they scrounged and made do. Unlike the Iron Crown of Lombardy, of which this is heraldically based, instead of having a band of iron (allegedly made of Jesus nails) this crown is made from wrought iron. The sort of stuff you'd find in fences or furniture. Expensive for construction, cheap for a crown. It is set with Rhodolite Garnets and carved coral beads.

A full scale invasion of the See to murder its pontiff, regardless of whom you're trying to murder, would be a disastrous mistake. It will not be seen as an attempt to secure the papal see, but an attempt to destroy the Borgia clan in its entirety. You would for sure end this civil war, as all sides would immediately turn against you to defend their hold on the throne itself. Spain would awaken as well, and given their involvement already, so would France. I *highly* discourage any such endeavor.

Unless you flat-out say no, TurtleShroom is landing men in Amalfi and will directly intervene on a side of the war. They have already put thousands of "advisors" to police the Conditieris and occupy secure Amalfi from violence, as well as purchasing all the slaves in the region at full market price.

Right now, the Kingdom of Romagna is the most likely bet as to whom the TurtleShroomian armies would serve with, as they are committed to a true, honest Papal Conclave and legitimately believe in the process of electing a new Borgian Pope.

• The Pope is allowed to take concubines solely for the purpose of producing new Borgias for the Papal succession. Because of this we have several dynastic branches.
  
• The Pope is allowed to take concubines solely for the purpose of producing new Borgias for the Papal succession. The Pope cannot take a true wife and the concubines are protected under the Catholic beliefs of marriage and fidelity. A Pope cannot cheat on his breeders.   This true, but they are marriages in all but name. The children of these unions are legitimate by blood. The rules against cheating? Broken almost constantly. What else can you expect from the Borgia family?

  Especially if we like you, or let's be real...if you pay us enough for it. If you choose to marry into the family, your heirs will be named Borgia as well. Cardinal de Montalvo is from the former nation of Trabadius in origin. The King of Spain, given that he is half Inca through his mother, (his name is literally an Incan god) recieved a special dispensation from Pope Victor IV to allow for polygamous marriages.   Yes, because we realize this is bad for business. An archconservative, feudal, theocracy like our own would be overthrown if we did not given some liberal leeway.   It's better if you didn't do that. These Papissas were all legitimately elected via Conclave. It should be noted that both weren't even priests, but nuns and/or abbesses as well as women of noble birth. We've been known to throw boons on nations that stick with us through 'controversial periods'.

Yeah, uh...the slave state part alone is a little bit of a dealbreaker(or at least, will be starting May-June 2022) and some of the other stuff is sufficently contreversial that Prussia-Poland couldn't publically support the Borgias.

There is a faction with a good deal of power that might support the Borgias in exchange for benefits, lead by the Prime Minister, but by the IC date it's been slammed hard politically thanks to it's botched attempt at establishing/maintaining relations with Cassadia, and it's influence will only continue to be curbed as the Sejm starts inquiries not only into the Cassadian affair but the PM's entire government.
