What is your nation's goal in dealing with Octavian expansion?: First priority is strictly committing acts of based, warcrime, and redpilled (e.g. extremist war profiteering), although if working with the anti-Octavian alliances yield us profit we shall gladly do so.
What is your tech level?: FT. Maybe even some FFT, I don't know. Most of it is cursed science fantasy that will make both realistic and escapist fans tear their hair out. Looks largely PMT, before you notice something is horribly, horribly right.
Additional information (put N/A if you have nothing): Don't expect me to pull off anything particularly clever. I primarily play somewhat realistic PMT using mostly MT logic and this will reflect here.

Additional information (put N/A if you have nothing): Though the UHP is ostensibly on the side fighting against the Octavians, it should also be noted that the UHP is rarely trustworthy. While not outwardly genocidal and cruel like the Octavians, the UHP has no issues with imperialism and shady dealings, and largely views this war as not only defending their own people, but as an excuse to get their foot in the door wherever possible, so as to further their own imperialistic goals.

Will your nation be allied with Octavia?: Yes, but purely out of primal opportunism and tactical co-existence. Octavia has the precursor module, and The Identity will do everything in its power to either get it for itself or reap the benefits from it through "alliance" with Octavia. Such a diplomatic position will also allow The Identity to spread and infest other planets unopposed and under the protection of one of the known universes' largest states.

What is your nation's goal in dealing with Octavian expansion?: The Identity does not care about Octavian expansion, but the larger Octavia is, the less The Identity has to fight the unassimilated hosts. Think of the diplomacy between The Identity and Octavia as commensalism between organisms where one benefits and one receives neither harm nor benefit: The Identity has a safe body to rapidly expand and infect the universe, and Octavia has one less group to fight.

What is your tech level?: Future tech, but with a few rather primitive quirks including but not limited to planetary and even solar-system supercolonies, infested veins allowing for quick travel through the dark regions of space, infecting tendrils in lieu of ranged weapons, fleets of mini-hives on millions of years-worth of abducted and infested ships, and more.

Additional information (put N/A if you have nothing): The Identity is unspeakably ancient. It is the universes' most fearsome and most brutal parasite. It is a pandemic the likes of which have never been seen with trillions of silenced casualties never recorded by the single stroke of a pen.

Many people thought the Bootes Void was a gigantic space of emptiness. How wrong they were. All that darkness wasn't a void of matter- it was the universes' largest scar among many other voids where The Identity once terrorized the known universe. Millions of eons before recorded history, it ran rampant. Then, like the snap of a finger- it disappeared, taking an infinite number of once great ancient civilizations with it. Nobody knows about this part of history, and nobody save the people who made the precursor knew why. It seemed to be purged from this plane of existence for good- but that one void, Bootes, wasn't as empty as they'd hoped. So confident that they had purged it out, the hives rebuilt unopposed and that darkness which was once a scar was once again replaced with the vantablack of the slurry superbug. The borders were filled up with that virus as easily as a container is filled with rainwater. It may have taken eons in of itself, but it happened- right at the time where the universes' tensions were at an all time high.

Throughout millions of years, those super-veins carried The Identity towards neighboring galaxies, but the most ambitious one floated straight towards the Milky Way. Even in the present day, its infiltration laid dormant, the parasite and its concourses of millions of infected hosts and their ships laid camouflaged in the darkness of space. The Identity knew how alive this galaxy was. With contact and a 'relationship" established with Octavia, it was time to strike. Not even Octavia knew of the gravity of the situation they were dealing with.

Asteroids became hives, then long dead planets from the intergalactic wars, then empty moons and white dwarfs. Nobody noticed, nobody cared. Before long, The Identity had a solid beachhead in this galaxy. Entire fleets of ships and lunar colonies went missing. It must be the result of those god damned Octavians!

People tend to avoid travelling off the beaten path now.

The Identity is the remnant of a once universally dominant parasitic hivemind which occupied the nightmares of countless souls. It was vaporized almost out of existence by ancient relics now in Octavia's hands. The Identity refers to the god-like entity in control of this superbug, laying in the warm core of a system-sized superhive among its infected branches, planets, systems, and void. In infected planets, smaller puppet controllers feed off of stellar heat or the warm cores of planets to fester, breed, and grow.

The parasite is unknown and unpredictable, resistant to the vacuum and cold of space and modern medicine. It starts as an amalgamation of black spores which eventually form a slurry black slime, which is controlled by local controllers, or in some cases The Identity itself. It needs a host to function, any host will do. It will infiltrate ships, hide in the caves of planets, fester in oceans and dark clouds in outer space. The manner in which it infects hosts is particularly gruesome, but it more often then not results in the victim's skin melting into the same slime, becoming one of the many types of zombified drones which constitute the footmen of The Identity. Said drones will then proceed to spread their infection to every possible living organism in a given environment until said environment or ship is completely taken over and terraformed into another hive. Then, they take advantage of the reproductive systems of the organisms in nature and breed, forming both sludge larvae and infected newborns. If a race asexually reproduces, then it will take advantage of that in order to generate new simple spores, and the cycle repeats.

With time, more intelligent subspecies of the strand will arise, particularly among older infected. In ships, this will result in having the functionality, weapons, and mobility of the now hive-caked vessel restored. On the ground, this will result in soldier-drones capable of using the futuristic weapons they have been accustomed to. In society, this more often than not results in "mini-controllers", a sort of non-commissioned officer in the hivemind's control.

As for the weaknesses of the Identity, flame, laser, and acid-based weaponry seem to be efficient in stopping them. Whereas they are somewhat impervious to non-modified bullets (such as non-incendiary rounds, non-acid rounds, etc), anything involving heat is something the lower ranks of the hivemind will completely unravel to (ignore the planetaries and identity itself who fester off of heat). If there are some forms of controller, be they mini, planetary, or above, the collective intelligence of the drones under its influence will be buffed and they will be capable of executing actual tactics. Killing them reduces the enemy to simple and slow zombified predators. For some reason, the parasitic super-bug has an extreme allergic reaction to pure gold, resulting in the virus boiling away and leaving a simple corpse. Gold seems to destroy the biological hive matter as well.

Melters: The simple bread and butter of The Identity's drones. Zombified slime melts the skin of its hosts and hijacks the nervous and reproductive system. They can be anything from human to animal to alien. If there are no nearby controllers, they are reduced to bumbling predators.

Molders: Typically comprised of fertile women who have been infected for long periods of time, these drones have eventually been modified to go beyond simple reproduction, but are now capable of creating and spreading the simple spore itself. Walking chemical weapons, their forms have been molded over by the simple spore, and every breath it takes expunges the spore, resulting in highly dangerous areas. Any person with basic respiratory equipment will be able to thwart this attack, but if one is out in the open, their best bet is to avoid close contact at any cost.

Martyrs: Typically comprised of "the elderly", "the disabled", or any drone too wounded or disfigured to properly fight. Over a month, the simple spore will swell within their near-dead bodies, and the urge to die will surpass the urge to spread the virus. They are walking grenades, with the sheer force of the explosion and the bone/armor fragments enough to seriously maim anybody unlucky enough to be in its vicinity. Once dead, the simple spore will fester in the remains and build enough biological matter to contribute to the hive from the open corpse.

Maimers: Drones with fingernail-like growths from their limbs the strength of the hardest steel. Typically a sub-species of adolescents, made to take advantage of natural agility and athleticism.

Mini-Controllers: Veteran drones who have gained some semblance of their memories and higher intelligence back. Capable of using complex weaponry, using vehicles and ships, leading other drones in tactical engagements, and is primarily seen as the "alpha male" in terms of the reproductive hierarchy.

Queens: Severely mutated and overgrown females responsible for the protection of the young.

Larvae: Mutated newborns and youths whose exposure to the simple spore has reduced them to wriggling and crawling parasites. Also capable of predation and combat to some degree.

Controller: The head of a hive on a lunar, planetary, or stellar scale. Typically hidden away in the warm core, safe from danger as drones build up the hive.

Simple Spore: The parasite in its rawest form, capable of conjoining together to form the infected slurry.

Additional information (put N/A if you have nothing): The Identity is unspeakably ancient. It is the universes' most fearsome and most brutal parasite. It is a pandemic the likes of which have never been seen with trillions of silenced casualties never recorded by the single stroke of a pen.

Many people thought the Bootes Void was a gigantic space of emptiness. How wrong they were. All that darkness wasn't a void of matter- it was the universes' largest scar among many other voids where The Identity once terrorized the known universe. Millions of eons before recorded history, it ran rampant. Then, like the snap of a finger- it disappeared, taking an infinite number of once great ancient civilizations with it. Nobody knows about this part of history, and nobody save the people who made the precursor knew why. It seemed to be purged from this plane of existence for good- but that one void, Bootes, wasn't as empty as they'd hoped. So confident that they had purged it out, the hives rebuilt unopposed and that darkness which was once a scar was once again replaced with the vantablack of the slurry superbug. The borders were filled up with that virus as easily as a container is filled with rainwater. It may have taken eons in of itself, but it happened- right at the time where the universes' tensions were at an all time high.

Throughout millions of years, those super-veins carried The Identity towards neighboring galaxies, but the most ambitious one floated straight towards the Milky Way. Even in the present day, its infiltration laid dormant, the parasite and its concourses of millions of infected hosts and their ships laid camouflaged in the darkness of space. The Identity knew how alive this galaxy was. With contact and a 'relationship" established with Octavia, it was time to strike. Not even Octavia knew of the gravity of the situation they were dealing with.

Asteroids became hives, then long dead planets from the intergalactic wars, then empty moons and white dwarfs. Nobody noticed, nobody cared. Before long, The Identity had a solid beachhead in this galaxy. Entire fleets of ships and lunar colonies went missing. It must be the result of those god damned Octavians!

People tend to avoid travelling off the beaten path now.

What is your nation's goal in dealing with Octavian expansion?: The Chapter wishes to preserve the sanctity of life by opposing the Octavian expansion efforts. Containment is acceptable. Elimination is preferable. However, due to limited resources, the Chapter is dependent upon a small number of its own vessels and personnel, and reliance on a vassalised scrapper fleet has led to a conflict of motives before the conflict has even begun...

What is your tech level?: FFT/FT/FanT (“psionics” indistinguishable from magic). No super weapons at present, but there is one particularly powerful ship (the Arkship Untarnished Eternity- granted it’ll probably stay back from the fighting to the best of its ability).

Additional information (put N/A if you have nothing): Due to lack of factbooks and this fact this is a new concept-

The Syntropic Order as a whole is a forsaken order of transhumanistic monastic knights. Great Arkships were scattered across the cosmos as the last remainder of its legacy. Technology is FT-FFT, but population is relatively minuscule. The main species are cybernetic constructs known as Simulacroids, which can be treated roughly like power-armoured opponents in combat. Some are capable of powerful psionic feats, but nothing that will instantly shift the tide of the battle.

Mnemosyne’s Chapter is host to the Life-Crusaders, a particularly fanatical and militant assembly of Syntropists who are devoted to preserving life they consider worthy while expunging what they consider to be “agents of entropy”. Most Crusader forces employed will not be true Simulacroids, but digitally-minded “Replicants” lacking in any affinity for psionics or independent tactics. The greater Crusaders are true Simulacroids, equipped with far more advanced and powerful small arms weaponry and supplemented by the Psybermancers capable of psionics. Their space forces are similarly elite- but limited in number, and mainly reliant on Replicant drones for orbital warfare. Proper ground vehicles are in limited supply and so considered costly to deploy- allied ones tend to be depended upon instead.

Mnemosyne herself, as Arkpriestess, is the most psionically powerful member of the Chapter, with abilities largely relating to perception, memory, and to their such mental phenomena- she is unlikely to engage in personal combat offensively. I solemnly swear to not let any such powers get too out of hand, and apologise for how poorly defined all this is.

To pad out their forces and prevent needless losses, the Chapter have procured the aid of a scrapper fleet of a highly aggressive and near-tribalistic species of alien space nomads. The Karazak race thus form the brunt of the troops, and are also the worst of them, prone to internal division and more concerned with a good salvage or hunt than with any kind of strategic victory. The Chapter hopes this propensity for slaughter can be used against the greater Octavian threat, but it’s entirely possible some of the Karazak warbands will turn on their ostensible allies at any point. Their ritualistic and brutal approach to warfare is more terrifying than it is effective, as are their broadly cannibalistic eating habits. Karazak ships and weapons are incredibly varied and very frequently cobbled together out of whatever they found lying around. Their hunting parties will emerge with troops holding everything from disintegration rifles to swords and spears.

These Karazaks have brought their own robotic weapons along in the form of “Analogues”, highly-advanced inhumanoid self-repairing war machines constructed on a devastated planet to continue a war that ended centuries ago. Analogues are usually kept off, because when they’re on they have a tendency to attack anything that isn’t a friend-identified Analogue. They’re powerful in the field, and extremely resilient, but their programming is more instinctive than intelligent, they can’t reliably distinguish between friend and foe, and for better or worse their nanowired mechanical central processors can’t be reprogrammed at all. They’re the ultimate machine soldiers of an extinguished PMT-FT society and are effectively useless at being literally anything else. On occasion Analogues will obey the commands of a designated “Sergeant” Analogue, giving them much better tactical coordination- otherwise they act like desperate sole survivors hell-bent on giving a dramatic last stand, no matter what model they are.

As a final note, the Syntropist forces can theoretically be talked out of conflict with the Octavians and even into switching sides a persuasive conflict is made that machine intelligences represent a superior anti-entropic resistance against the Heat Death of the Universe- but that seems like an unlikely occurrence.

...as the actual final note, despite how technically I’ve phrased all of this, it’s worth noting that I’m probably not taking this RP too seriously. I’m just using it to have fun with themes of transhumanism, FFT existentialism, and a horde of hyper-violent alien primitives.

  • Other interested parties within the Reach, most likely primarily the Free League - SECONDARY
Will your nation be allied with Octavia?:

    CINTGOVLR would enter the scene as a neutral party, as would the rest of the Reach by association of "the Free League hates CINTGOVLR"; however, it doesn't have a particular aversion to opening diplomatic channels with Octavia should it be offered. The keyword there is should- while CINTGOVLR is obviously not going to be immediately involved with Octavia, or even really know about Octavia, if the Octavians get to them first then they'd be likely to ally. Essentially neutral, with hesitant openness to overtures from either side in the conflict.
What is your nation's goal in dealing with Octavian expansion?:

    CINTGOVLR has no real official goal- they don't officially realize Octavia even exists, and first-contact protocols aren't really a thing. However, they would almost certainly try to acquire aid from whoever they do make contact with in dealing with their own little clusterfuck, so their perspective on Octavian expansion is almost certain to be "leave us alone and we'll get along just fine" if introduced to Octavia from a friendly standpoint and "SHOW YER WIFE HOW YOU WON MEDALS DOWN IN FLANDERS" if they end up hearing from more hostile parties to the Octavian state first.
What is your tech level?:

    Complicated answer to a simple question: MT/PMT/FT/FFT schizotech, leaning to PMT/FT. The Reach and the broader extent of colonized space have as common technologies the following:

    • Hot fusion propulsion and hot fusion power plants;
    • Large-scale coilgun assemblies, for both industrial launching of masses and for military use, with average accelerations in the ~300g range;
    • "Micro-megastructures" and the industrial capability to construct artificial habitats on the scale of about 100 kilometers of square area in orbit over a long period of time;
    • Slow FTL dependent on the use of megastructures and gate network style transit;
    • Artificial gravity produced via centrifuge and acceleration;
    • Machine-learning-based "dumb AI" and intelligent security systems;
    • etc.
    The "schizotech" part comes from the fact that apart from the development of advanced, efficient spacefaring equipment and the accidental stumbling across a way to glitch mass from one point to another in the universe passed off as "wormhole-esque", there's not been all that much development technologically. For instance, there's no AI barring one specific PALISADE Project that other, more conventional settings might consider "sentient", guns are still boring chemical gyrojets, and lasers are spaceship-grade weapons- then again, that's what happens when the population density of humanity in space is less than Saskatchewan.

    Like I said, the setting is... weird in terms of how it's advanced technologically, and if it weren't for the fact that Octavia bothers with nations like, say, Earth, the Reach would almost certainly be irrelevant to them.     CINTGOVLR has no real official goal- they don't officially realize Octavia even exists, and first-contact protocols aren't really a thing. However, they would almost certainly try to acquire aid from whoever they do make contact with in dealing with their own little clusterfuck, so their perspective on Octavian expansion is almost certain to be "leave us alone and we'll get along just fine" if introduced to Octavia from a friendly standpoint and "SHOW YER WIFE HOW YOU WON MEDALS DOWN IN FLANDERS" if they end up hearing from more hostile parties to the Octavian state first.
What is your tech level?:

    Complicated answer to a simple question: MT/PMT/FT/FFT schizotech, leaning to PMT/FT. The Reach and the broader extent of colonized space have as common technologies the following:

    • Hot fusion propulsion and hot fusion power plants;
    • Large-scale coilgun assemblies, for both industrial launching of masses and for military use, with average accelerations in the ~300g range;
    • "Micro-megastructures" and the industrial capability to construct artificial habitats on the scale of about 100 kilometers of square area in orbit over a long period of time;
    • Slow FTL dependent on the use of megastructures and gate network style transit;
    • Artificial gravity produced via centrifuge and acceleration;
    • Machine-learning-based "dumb AI" and intelligent security systems;
    • etc.
    The "schizotech" part comes from the fact that apart from the development of advanced, efficient spacefaring equipment and the accidental stumbling across a way to glitch mass from one point to another in the universe passed off as "wormhole-esque", there's not been all that much development technologically. For instance, there's no AI barring one specific PALISADE Project that other, more conventional settings might consider "sentient", guns are still boring chemical gyrojets, and lasers are spaceship-grade weapons- then again, that's what happens when the population density of humanity in space is less than Saskatchewan.

    Like I said, the setting is... weird in terms of how it's advanced technologically, and if it weren't for the fact that Octavia bothers with nations like, say, Earth, the Reach would almost certainly be irrelevant to them. Additional information (put N/A if you have nothing): While Vers is in the end looking out for its own interests first and foremost, the Kaiserreich is not opposed to cooperation with other powers in stemming the tide of Octavia
Did you read the rules?: Yes and I am willing to restrict my military commitments at any given time as my Armed Forces are several million warships and hundreds of millions of ground troops. I shall field no more than 10% of either my Ground or Space forces at any given time
