Can you deliver something better then ODST/40K Storm-Troopers?

The Umbrous Sector has forever been a lawless haven for criminals, traitors, warlords and private armies. One year ago, in 2440, the Szarbo War between the Gothan Empire and the Frizian Republic over the contentious Szarbo system came to a fruitless, bloody, and pointless standstill. The Treaty of Lygaard brought the conflict to an end, establishing the Szarbo Neutral Zone policed by an independent Autodefence Force. With troops fresh from the brutal fighting the Gothan Armed Forces High Command turned it's attention to the Umbrous Sector and the Combined Warlord Fleets, who pillage and burn their way through space. As more and more powers turn their forces to the conquest of these strategic crossroads, a further age of galactic unrest beckons.

Could the pirates be equipped with some of the same stuff as people in "Battlestar Galactica" and "Firefly"? I could get a writeup and stuff figured out?

Can you deliver something better then ODST/40K Storm-Troopers?

Im thinking perhaps units that do stealth insertion. I like ODST, but they seem to drop in during the heat of combat. My Thinking is they get dropped in the planet and get around using what I describe as a flying humvee in the basic form of what it is. Think the ISA thing from Kill Zone.
They are self-reliant, using assault rifles, and sniper teams. Squad automatic weapons and an above-average missile launcher.

No heavy equipment, or assaulting head-on (ODST, 40K like battles where you drop me on top of a carrier to capture it.)
Perhaps something like Ghost Recon? stealth over brute force? With the 12 Man teams can be broken down into 3 4 man squads, 2 Rifle/DMR 1 SAW, 1 Rifle/Heavy Weapons (ATGM).

I could do a few platoons, say 3?
I will try to rp them as more than just shock troops, perhaps more akin to like I said Ghost Recon, live off the land, make the best use of what they have, take what they need, and disrupt operations without causing a massive reaction that overwhelms them.
Perhaps assaulting orbital stations/refinery?
I see no reason the flying humvee cant operate in space and on the planet. Obviously it can do reentry missions as it has no heat shields. So it would need to be launched from a ship in planet or in space.
Open to more ideas.

I like the idea, but I would like the team to have access to smart-guns that are linked to their helmets. That way they can blind-fire accurately, and always see a laser coming out of their gun.

Sorry I'm not very active just now, but i'm working on further posts. In answer to some of the previous questions, all apps are approved more or less, the technology you choose to use is entirely up to you. I will be posting some further information on some of the factions in warlord space etc but due to the variety of the forces present in the sector any players can basically make their own. The same goes for your technology-it's up to you, as long it's reasonable.

I am as we speak (or type) writing my second post, and hopefully will have posted further details about possible missions, enemies, and planets by the end of the day (UK time).
