Uprising
On a bright sunny afternoon, the markets of Marri'q were filled with businesses and customers, children were playing in the parks. Afternoon classes were about to begin for students to attend. The positivity and prosperity in the atmosphere could be felt all around Hebollah. That would soon come to change, as Hebollah was about to enter a dark time. At Prominent Square, a group of masked individuals began numbering and massing into a large group, spreading and shouting the word of Islam. With them, they began firing into air with their Kalashkinov assault rifles. They were proclaiming the creation of a new Islamic State of Hebollah. Supporters began receiving black flags similar to those of ISIL.
"nakhulus jmye alkufaar wanuelin hadhih al'ard biaism allh. sanakhliq dawlatan 'iislamiatan wanaqtal kl hula' dida aldawlat al'iislamia!", shouted one man with a AK-47 in his hand burning a Hebollah Flag. They were announcing the creation of a new caliphate.
In numerous cities across the nation, groups similar to this also began spreading their message. The government became concerned over this group fearing they would turn the entire population against the government. President Bashar Al-Kobabi ordered Hebollah Security forces to shut down group, that would soon turn into a deadly. Clashes between security forces and the what they called themselves "The Levanant". The whole nation would be in war.
Battle of Marri'q
In order to defend the Capital City, the battle for Marri'q would mark the beginning of a brand new civil war. Machine guns could be heard across the city, thousands of civilians began to bunker down in their homes as the fighting began to intensify. President Al-Kobabi and his advisory had fled the city to avoid capture and murdered, as his life was being threatened. News came in, that Al-Kobab Army base had also been under attack causing numerous Hebollan Army equipment to be stolen. Security forces in Marri'q, were severely outnumbered as their numbers were in the couple hundreds against a mere thousand Levanant rebels.
Fighters from the Levenant fought viciously and were prepared to die for their caliphate. Their main edge against the Security forces, was they had access to homemade mortars and began shelling the city inch by inch, with the goal of driving out government forces out of the city. Suicide bombers also played a vital role, ramming into government positions and exploding killing numerous security troops. Security forces were moderately trained for small firefights and engagements in a situation such as a terrorist attack. But they never expected to be in such a large battle.
Security forces were armed with small bulletproof vest and helmets that aren't even verified to defend soldiers from sniper fire or headshots from enemy fire. They were however armed with M4A1 Carbine rifles but it was no match against the mass numbers of the Levanant. The Hebollah Army also played a role, but after the fall of Al-Kobab base, caused many soldiers to dessert the army. Security forces were ordered to stop the advancement of the Levanant, but due to the heavily armed Levanant, it was difficult for security forces to take control of the situation. They had fallen back to "Junction Province", located on the outskirts of the city. Security forces were forced to bunker down and fortify their positions to prevent the Levanant to spread into the other northern provinces.
Hebollah citizens trying to flee from war-torn Marri'q
Commander Mohammed Ashuraage, from Hebollah's 1st Security Forces Battalion, was placed in charge. He had learned that hundreds of his men had been killed during the battle, and possibly more have been even taking prisoner. He had only 300 fighters left. He had deployed 50 of those men to create checkpoints and small tiny post surrounding his FOB as he feared of a levanant offensive to attack his base. He tried making distressed calls to nearby military bases, but phone service was down due to downed powerlines and poor signals. He ordered his men to defend the base and to not allow suspected suicide vehicles from entering or attacking his base.
Civilians under the cover security forces began fleeing the city. Thousands, many including children and elderly citizens escaped the battlefield. Most would fall to their knees in sadness and pain. Many began praying and blaming the government for their loss of their homes.
The Levanant had controlled a mere 85% of the nation as city by city had fallen to the hands of the Levanant. Military bases and oil refineries had also been taken by the islamic insurgents. Propaganda videos would soon be released displaying military government vehicles, such as tanks, armored personnel carriers, and other armoured fighting vehicles. Most of the equipment had been given by the USA and most were cold war era equipment. Reports had been received that thousands of Army soldiers had defected and now fight for the levanant.
It is reported that over 25,000 fighters in the Levanant. Some from foreign nations and even children are suspected to be joining every single day. Women have been reported to also been raped and forced to marry Levanant fighters in order to have their children, so that the child can also join the fighting.
President Bashar Al-Kobabi, had fled to the city of Muresgugi, where he was placed in a bunker at Kurfar Army base, which was home to Hebollah's Golden Division, also known as Hebollah's Special Forces. Was the government's last stand. Consisted of three brigades, the Hebollah Special Forces, were preparing to fight back, but it seemed difficult as they only had around 5,000 fighters. They had demanded for weapons and ammunition in order to fight back, as their equipment was very outdated.
Without an Air Force, it was also very hard to fight the battle from the air. The future of Hebollah was already looking into a dark time.
