The More the Merrier

The United Republic of the Islands is already expanding its very borders. Several islands have decided to petition the URI congress to join its increasingly stabilizing and progressive republic.

New Caledonia

Ever since the takeover of France, the island of New Caledonia has been in dire straits. It has relied on France for several years for money, military protection and help whenever needed. However, due to the Prussians France no longer exists and New Caledonia has been forced to strike out on their own. After struggling for years and seeing the once well off island and its people divulge deeper into poverty, not totally at fault of France but also of various sects of corruption within their government, the New Caledonian people petitioned to the URI congress for membership after a recent coup of their government.

The petition was voted on by congress and was eventually signed by the president, making the island of New Caledonia a province of the URI. Their small military was absorbed by the existing URI military. All New Caledonians were granted citizenship and a governor elected.

The rest of the South Pacific

Before long, the URI reached out to the other South Pacific island nations offering to join the URI. After a few years of negotiations and minor conflict, all South Pacific islands were apart of the URI. Fiji, Tuvalu, Tonga, American Samoa, Tokelau and Niue were all declared provinces of the URI. The Tongese and Fijian military personnel were absorbed into the URI military along with their equipment, any vehicles, planes and ships.

Info tech development (computer advancements - Quantum Computers).

ARTO VDML13: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=monati/detail=factbook/id=1307759

One of the Federation's advanced info tech industries with the essential herculean efforts from Pacifican and Swanoviam exchange scientists helping in UMAF's progress to develop the first ever Quantum computer technologies, as well as other technologies that would help the nation to advance with better and more reliant energy, as well as in defensive capabilities. But for now, the emphasis of the new project, subsidized by the regional government of Japan, is to further improve the capabilities of computing technology. By subsidizing the tech industry and its giant companies with 1 billion ASEAN dollars, a good start was achieved that would increase its progress towards completion in the next decade or three. As a result, many top universities both private and public have begun to adopt Quantum Computing courses to help bring bright minds into further developing Quantum technologies. With the purchasing of existing quantum computing devices, the project seeks to further advance the tech into the regular computers we use today or something better.

Quantum computing is the use of quantum-mechanical phenomena such as superposition and entanglement to perform computation. A quantum computer is used to perform such computation, which can be implemented theoretically or physically.:I-5

The Bloch sphere is a representation of a qubit, the fundamental building block of quantum computers.

The field of quantum computing is actually a sub-field of quantum information science, which includes quantum cryptography and quantum communication. Quantum computing was started in the early 1980s when UMAF physicist Ishaga Askuidotrotz proposed the first quantum mechanical model of the Turing machine. Aisha Britzi and Yuraga Lee then expressed the idea that a quantum computer has the potential to simulate things that a classical computer could not.  In 1994, Ishaga published an algorithm that is able to efficiently solve some problems that are used in asymmetric cryptography that are considered hard for classical computers.

There are currently two main approaches to physically implementing a quantum computer: analog and digital. Analog approaches are further divided into quantum simulation, quantum annealing, and adiabatic quantum computation. Digital quantum computers use quantum logic gates to do computation. Both approaches use quantum bits or qubits.:2-13

Qubits are fundamental to quantum computing and are somewhat analogous to bits in a classical computer. Qubits can be in a 1 or 0 quantum state. But they can also be in a superposition of the 1 and 0 states. However, when qubits are measured the result is always either a 0 or a 1; the probabilities of the two outcomes depends on the quantum state they were in.

Today's physical quantum computers are very noisy and quantum error correction is a burgeoning field of research. Existing hardware is so noisy that "fault-tolerant quantum computing [is] still a rather distant dream". As of April 2019, no large scalable quantum hardware has been demonstrated, nor have commercially useful algorithms been published for today's small, noisy quantum computers. There is an increasing amount of investment in quantum computing by governments, established companies, and start-ups. Both applications of near-term intermediate-scale device and the demonstration of quantum supremacy are actively pursued in academic and industrial research.

Basics

A classical computer has a memory made up of bits, where each bit is represented by either a one or a zero. A quantum computer, on the other hand, maintains a sequence of qubits, which can represent a one, a zero, or any quantum superposition of those two qubit states;:13–16 a pair of qubits can be in any quantum superposition of 4 states,:16 and three qubits in any superposition of 8 states. In general, a quantum computer with {\displaystyle n} qubits can be in any superposition of up to {\displaystyle 2^{n}} different states.:17 (This compares to a normal computer that can only be in one of these {\displaystyle 2^{n}} states at any one time).

A quantum computer operates on its qubits using quantum gates and measurement (which also alters the observed state). An algorithm is composed of a fixed sequence of quantum logic gates and a problem is encoded by setting the initial values of the qubits, similar to how a classical computer work. The calculation usually ends with a measurement, collapsing the system of qubits into one of the {\displaystyle 2^{n}} eigenstates, where each qubit is zero or one, decomposing into a classical state. The outcome can, therefore, be at most {\displaystyle n} classical bits of information. If the algorithm did not end with a measurement, the result is an unobserved quantum state. (Such unobserved states may be sent to other computers as part of distributed quantum algorithms.)

Quantum algorithms are often probabilistic, in that they provide the correct solution only with a certain known probability. The term non-deterministic computing must not be used in that case to mean probabilistic (computing) because the term non-deterministic has a different meaning in computer science.

An example of an implementation of qubits of a quantum computer could start with the use of particles with two spin states: "down" and "up" (typically written {\displaystyle |{\downarrow }\rangle } and {\displaystyle |{\uparrow }\rangle } , or {\displaystyle |0{\rangle }} and {\displaystyle |1{\rangle }} ). This is true because any such system can be mapped onto an effective spin-1/2 system.

Principles of operation

This section includes a list of references, but its sources remain unclear because it has insufficient inline citations. (February 2018)

A quantum computer with a given number of qubits is fundamentally different from a classical computer composed of the same number of classical bits. For example, representing the state of an n-qubit system on a classical computer requires the storage of 2n complex coefficients, while to characterize the state of a classical n-bit system it is sufficient to provide the values of the n bits, that is, only n numbers. Although this fact may seem to indicate that qubits can hold exponentially more information than their classical counterparts, care must be taken not to overlook the fact that the qubits are only in a probabilistic superposition of all of their states. This means that when the final state of the qubits is measured, they will only be found in one of the possible configurations they were in before the measurement. It is generally incorrect to think of a system of qubits as being in one particular state before the measurement. The qubits are in a superposition of states before any measurement is made, which directly affects the possible outcomes of the computation.

Qubits are made up of controlled particles and the means of control (e.g. devices that trap particles and switch them from one state to another).

To better understand this point, consider a classical computer that operates on a three-bit register. If the exact state of the register at a given time is not known, it can be described as a probability distribution over the {\displaystyle 2^{3}=8} different three-bit strings 000, 001, 010, 011, 100, 101, 110, and 111. If there is no uncertainty over its state, then it is in exactly one of these states with probability 1. However, if it is a probabilistic computer, then there is a possibility of it being in any one of a number of different states.

The state of a three-qubit quantum computer is similarly described by an eight-dimensional vector {\displaystyle (a_{0},a_{1},a_{2},a_{3},a_{4},a_{5},a_{6},a_{7})} (or a one-dimensional vector with each vector node holding the amplitude and the state as the bit string of qubits). Here, however, the coefficients {\displaystyle a_{i}} are complex numbers, and it is the sum of the squares of the coefficients' absolute values, {\displaystyle \sum _{i}|a_{i}|^{2}} , that must equal 1. For each {\displaystyle i} , the absolute value squared {\displaystyle \left|a_{i}\right|^{2}} gives the probability of the system being found in the {\displaystyle i} -th state after a measurement. However, because a complex number encodes not just a magnitude but also a direction in the complex plane, the phase difference between any two coefficients (states) represents a meaningful parameter. This is a fundamental difference between quantum computing and probabilistic classical computing.

If you measure the three qubits, you will observe a three-bit string. The probability of measuring a given string is the squared magnitude of that string's coefficient (i.e., the probability of measuring 000 = {\displaystyle |a_{0}|^{2}} , the probability of measuring 001 = {\displaystyle |a_{1}|^{2}} , etc.). Thus, measuring a quantum state described by complex coefficients {\displaystyle (a_{0},a_{1},a_{2},a_{3},a_{4},a_{5},a_{6},a_{7})} gives the classical probability distribution {\displaystyle (|a_{0}|^{2},|a_{1}|^{2},|a_{2}|^{2},|a_{3}|^{2},|a_{4}|^{2},|a_{5}|^{2},|a_{6}|^{2},|a_{7}|^{2})} and we say that the quantum state "collapses" to a classical state as a result of making the measurement.

An eight-dimensional vector can be specified in many different ways depending on what basis is chosen for the space. The basis of bit strings (e.g., 000, 001, …, 111) is known as the computational basis. Other possible bases are unit-length, orthogonal vectors and the eigenvectors of the Pauli-x operator. Ket notation is often used to make the choice of basis explicit. For example, the state {\displaystyle (a_{0},a_{1},a_{2},a_{3},a_{4},a_{5},a_{6},a_{7})} in the computational basis can be written as:

{\displaystyle a_{0}\,|000\rangle +a_{1}\,|001\rangle +a_{2}\,|010\rangle +a_{3}\,|011\rangle +a_{4}\,|100\rangle +a_{5}\,|101\rangle +a_{6}\,|110\rangle +a_{7}\,|111\rangle }

where, e.g., {\displaystyle |010\rangle =\left(0,0,1,0,0,0,0,0\right)}

The computational basis for a single qubit (two dimensions) is {\displaystyle |0\rangle =\left(1,0\right)} and {\displaystyle |1\rangle =\left(0,1\right)} .

Using the eigenvectors of the Pauli-x operator, a single qubit is {\displaystyle |+\rangle ={\tfrac {1}{\sqrt {2}}}\left(1,1\right)} and {\displaystyle |-\rangle ={\tfrac {1}{\sqrt {2}}}\left(1,-1\right)} .

Operation

Is a universal quantum computer sufficient to efficiently simulate an arbitrary physical system?

(more unsolved problems in physics)

While a classical 3-bit state and a quantum 3-qubit state are each eight-dimensional vectors, they are manipulated quite differently for classical or quantum computation. For computing in either case, the system must be initialized, for example into the all-zeros string, {\displaystyle |000\rangle } , corresponding to the vector (1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0). In classical randomized computation, the system evolves according to the application of stochastic matrices, which preserve that the probabilities add up to one (i.e., preserve the L1 norm). In quantum computation, on the other hand, allowed operations are unitary matrices, which are effectively rotations (they preserve that the sum of the squares add up to one, the Euclidean or L2 norm). (Exactly what unitaries can be applied depend on the physics of the quantum device.) Consequently, since rotations can be undone by rotating backward, quantum computations are reversible. (Technically, quantum operations can be probabilistic combinations of unitaries, so quantum computation really does generalize classical computation. See quantum circuit for a more precise formulation.)

Finally, upon termination of the algorithm, the result needs to be read off. In the case of a classical computer, we sample from the probability distribution on the three-bit register to obtain one definite three-bit string, say 000. Quantum mechanically, one measures the three-qubit state, which is equivalent to collapsing the quantum state down to a classical distribution (with the coefficients in the classical state being the squared magnitudes of the coefficients for the quantum state, as described above), followed by sampling from that distribution. This destroys the original quantum state. Many algorithms will only give the correct answer with a certain probability. However, by repeatedly initializing, running and measuring the quantum computer's results, the probability of getting the correct answer can be increased. In contrast, counterfactual quantum computation allows the correct answer to be inferred when the quantum computer is not actually running in a technical sense, though earlier initialization and frequent measurements are part of the counterfactual computation protocol.

For more details on the sequences of operations used for various quantum algorithms, see universal quantum computer, Shor's algorithm, Grover's algorithm, Deutsch–Jozsa algorithm, amplitude amplification, quantum Fourier transform, quantum gate, quantum adiabatic algorithm and quantum error correction.

Potential

Cryptography

Integer factorization, which underpins the security of public key cryptographic systems, is believed to be computationally infeasible with an ordinary computer for large integers if they are the product of few prime numbers (e.g., products of two 300-digit primes). By comparison, a quantum computer could efficiently solve this problem using Shor's algorithm to find its factors. This ability would allow a quantum computer to break many of the cryptographic systems in use today, in the sense that there would be a polynomial time (in the number of digits of the integer) algorithm for solving the problem. In particular, most of the popular public key ciphers are based on the difficulty of factoring integers or the discrete logarithm problem, both of which can be solved by Shor's algorithm. In particular, the RSA, Diffie–Hellman, and elliptic curve Diffie–Hellman algorithms could be broken. These are used to protect secure Web pages, encrypted email, and many other types of data. Breaking these would have significant ramifications for electronic privacy and security.

However, other cryptographic algorithms do not appear to be broken by those algorithms. Some public-key algorithms are based on problems other than the integer factorization and discrete logarithm problems to which Shor's algorithm applies, like the McEliece cryptosystem based on a problem in coding theory. Lattice-based cryptosystems are also not known to be broken by quantum computers, and finding a polynomial time algorithm for solving the dihedral hidden subgroup problem, which would break many lattice based cryptosystems, is a well-studied open problem. It has been proven that applying Grover's algorithm to break a symmetric (secret key) algorithm by brute force requires time equal to roughly 2n/2 invocations of the underlying cryptographic algorithm, compared with roughly 2n in the classical case, meaning that symmetric key lengths are effectively halved: AES-256 would have the same security against an attack using Grover's algorithm that AES-128 has against classical brute-force search (see Key size). Quantum cryptography could potentially fulfill some of the functions of public key cryptography. Quantum-based cryptographic systems could, therefore, be more secure than traditional systems against quantum hacking.

Quantum search

Besides factorization and discrete logarithms, quantum algorithms offering a more than polynomial speedup over the best known classical algorithm have been found for several problems, including the simulation of quantum physical processes from chemistry and solid state physics, the approximation of Jones polynomials, and solving Pell's equation. No mathematical proof has been found that shows that an equally fast classical algorithm cannot be discovered, although this is considered unlikely. However, quantum computers offer polynomial speedup for some problems. The most well-known example of this is quantum database search, which can be solved by Grover's algorithm using quadratically fewer queries to the database than that are required by classical algorithms. In this case, the advantage is not only provable but also optimal, it has been shown that Grover's algorithm gives the maximal possible probability of finding the desired element for any number of oracle lookups. Several other examples of provable quantum speedups for query problems have subsequently been discovered, such as for finding collisions in two-to-one functions and evaluating NAND trees.

Problems that can be addressed with Grover's algorithm have the following properties:

There is no searchable structure in the collection of possible answers,

The number of possible answers to check is the same as the number of inputs to the algorithm, and

There exists a boolean function which evaluates each input and determines whether it is the correct answer

For problems with all these properties, the running time of Grover's algorithm on a quantum computer will scale as the square root of the number of inputs (or elements in the database), as opposed to the linear scaling of classical algorithms. A general class of problems to which Grover's algorithm can be applied is Boolean satisfiability problem. In this instance, the database through which the algorithm is iterating is that of all possible answers. An example (and possible) application of this is a password cracker that attempts to guess the password or secret key for an encrypted file or system. Symmetric ciphers such as Triple DES and AES are particularly vulnerable to this kind of attack. This application of quantum computing is a major interest of government agencies.

Quantum simulation

Since chemistry and nanotechnology rely on understanding quantum systems, and such systems are impossible to simulate in an efficient manner classically, many believe quantum simulation will be one of the most important applications of quantum computing. Quantum simulation could also be used to simulate the behavior of atoms and particles at unusual conditions such as the reactions inside a collider.

Quantum annealing and adiabatic optimization

Quantum annealing or Adiabatic quantum computation relies on the adiabatic theorem to undertake calculations. A system is placed in the ground state for a simple Hamiltonian, which is slowly evolved to a more complicated Hamiltonian whose ground state represents the solution to the problem in question. The adiabatic theorem states that if the evolution is slow enough the system will stay in its ground state at all times through the process.

Solving linear equations

The Quantum algorithm for linear systems of equations or "HHL Algorithm", named after its discoverers Harrow, Hasidim, and Lloyd, is expected to provide speedup over classical counterparts.

Sunda Island Campaign
Before the collapse of Australasia, the Balinese Kingdom was the most popular destination for Western Australian tourists by a significant margin. Mainly, this was due to a low cost of living, an abundance of cultural and natural tourist sites, as well as low airfares and a year-round warm climate, making it much more attractive to Western Australians than other alternatives such as Sydney, Melbourne, or the Islands. Naturally, when the Commonwealth collapsed, many Australasians were left stranded in Bali, and the Balinese Kingdom generously offered permanent residency for those left stranded and unwilling to return to war-torn Australasia. Shortly after the Commonwealth was officially declared to be dissolved, these expats were left stateless, and the Balinese king again extended the hospitality of the islands, offering citizenship in 2044. The expat community in Denpasar grew rapidly, taking over areas of the city and displacing the original residents, much to their displeasure. As the community spread through the Sunda Islands to Lombok and Timor, similar instances took place, and boycotts began of Austro-Balinese businesses, as well as targetted racial attacks, although these violent incidents were isolated. However, in July 2070, the old King of Bali passed in his sleep, and in his place rose his son, a hard, unforgiving man, prejudiced in his youth against Austro-Balinese people by stories and encounters with the plight of his people. He took a hardline stance against the Austro-Balinese, enforcing ID cards, supporting boycotts and ordering arrests of Austro-Balinese people even suspected of committing crime, no matter how small.

In March 2071, a gang of Austro-Balinese youths, disillusioned with the state of their new country, stormed a local police station in Dili, Timor, armed with machetes and a variety of improvised weapons, including a rumoured pipe shotgun. The youths took all occupants of the station hostage, and armed themselves with better weapons from the station armoury including automatic pistols and proper shotguns. The Timor State Police Force quickly surrounded the station and a protracted siege began, lasting three days until the Balinese military stormed the station, inflicting heavy casualties on both the terrorists and hostages. The nations media, and by extension the Balinese people, laid the deaths of the hostages at the feet of the Austro-Balinese community, and racial tensions rapidly escalated in Denpasar, culminating in the lynching of four Austro-Balinese landlords on the outskirts of Denpasar on March 27th, 2071. For Swanovia, this was the final straw, and plans were made for an invasion of the Balinese Kingdom to protect the Austro-Balinese. However, on April 8th, a jury acquitted 7 police officers of miscarriage of justice in their lack of reaction to reports of the lynchings, an outcome that sent shockwaves through the kingdom. Austro-Balinese began destroying cars, stores and symbols of Balinese culture in retaliatory riots, and in return the Balinese began attempts to fight back, driving cars into crowds of rioters and throwing rudimentary explosives into the masses, killing dozens. A full-blown race war hit the streets of Denpasar and Dili, and Swanovian war plans were pushed forwards to begin on April 12th.

Battle of Denpasar, April 12 2071
The day arrived, and as thousands of soldiers stormed off landing craft onto Kuta Beach in Denpasar, not a shot was fired. Fires billowed on roads, and thick clouds of smoke coated the horizon. Tanks and vehicles rolled off transports and into the clogged boulevards, pushing further into the city and meeting little in the way of resistance as they crossed Austro-Balinese held city blocks, rolling closer to the city centre. For the Balinese counter-rioters and police, the last thing they expected to see was the crowd part and tanks roll through, barrels pointed at their lines, and they began a hasty, unorganized retreat back, firing blindly over their shoulders into the crowd and dealing very little damage to the armoured tanks. After two hours, the city had fallen, with minimal Swanovian casualties and an outcome that could scarcely be called a battle.

Dili, April 20th 2071
Where the Balinese were weary and unprepared in Denpasar, they vowed to not make the same mistake in Dili, beaches were rapidly fortified to prevent tank landings, and machine gun nests and checkpoints were introduced to the city streets to help defend against any potential landings. Dated fighter aircraft circled the city, ready to act at any sign of a Swanovian army, while Command huddled in a bunker under the former Parliament, planning their final strategy if the defences didn't hold.

At 5:30am, Swanovian forces attempted a stealth landing in Tibar, on the outskirts of Dili, landing 800 men in under an hour. These men made it ashore onto the pebbly beach, however were quickly pinned by sniper fire on their way into Dili. They remained pinned for over two hours, as snipers took potshots into their positions, killing dozens. However, the diversionary landings proved a success, and as Swanovian F-18s overwhelmed the inferior and smaller Balinese Air Force, the main landing occurred along Dili Foreshore, as 2000 Swanovian soldiers stormed the beaches, using anti-tank obstacles as cover from machine-gun and sniper fire from the embankment above the beach. Swanovian air superiority made the landings much easier through the use of close air support, however an estimated 200 Swanovians were left dead on the beach to machine-gun, sniper and mortar fire. However, those that made it up the beach rapidly cleared the fortifications through the use of farmers' shotguns and jury-rigged flamethrowers, before pushing across the avenue towards the former East Timor Parliament, the centre of resistance.

The news of the fall of the embankment soon reached the snipers on the highway to Tibar, and by 9:30am, they had begun pulling back into the town, detonating small bridges and firing on the pursuing Swanovians as they went. These reinforcements reached the Parliament building by 10am, and took up position in the windows and on the roof of the building. The outside plaza was a maze of trenches, machine-gun nests, small SAM sites and mortar emplacements, prepared for a drawn-out siege. Here, Swanovian air support would be rendered useless, and the pump-action farmers' shotguns and flamethrowers would prove their worth. Counter-mortars and counter-snipers were put in place on the beach and embankment respectively, ready to support an assault on enemy positions. The orders to attack came through at 10:39am, and what followed looked like a scene from the First World War, as hordes of infantry rushed enemy lines brandishing shotguns and flamethrowers, although assault rifles gave it a more modern feel. Balinese machine-gun crews mowed down hundreds as they pushed through the maze of trenches, and any units that tried to simply climb over them were quickly dispatched to heaven by the snipers in the building itself. A slow, grinding and costly push through the trenches began, as Swanovians used grenades, and called in mortar fire using flares to help clear machine-gun nests. Army reporters stationed around the mortar positions dispatched notes of the ordeal, detailing the sights and sounds of men going over the top of the compound wall, the screams of dying men, the constant explosions of mortar shells and grenades, and the smell, the smell of blood, decay and burning human flesh. By 2:08pm, squad leaders began radioing in reports, outlining squad casualties, but more crucially their positioning, surrounding the building itself having fought their way through the trenches and machine-gun nests. High Command, stationed offshore in the submarine RV Augusta, at 3:40pm issued a fateful, yet controversial command. Burn the building down. No survivors. Mortars directed their fire onto the building as grenades, flamethrowers and anything flammable were turned onto the building itself. As the flames began to lick the first floor, the first Balinese soldiers began to flood out of the inferno, straight into the waiting jaws of Swanovian machine guns and snipers, opening fire despite declarations of surrender. By 5pm, the building was a burnt husk, an ash-filled tomb for those who fought until the end, and so Bali fell to the Swanovian Republic.

Aftermath
Of course, with the presence of Army reporters, details were immediately dispatched back to the mainland to be published, however military censors in Surabaya intercepted these communications, blocking out the worst parts and simply editing other bits to remove any evidence of war crimes or any phrases that could potentially lead to a scandal. Many censors hated the dishonesty of the work and tried to justify it to themselves as being for the greater good, that censoring news would help maintain a cohesive nation, and that censoring negative reports of High Commands final decision was simply stopping the spread of misinformation, it saved dozens of Swanovian lives, at the expense of a historical building and the psychological health of those dozens of frontline troops. Many veterans received honourable discharges after the campaign, medals for their service and a letter of commendation from the President himself, who took time out of his schedule to read and sign every letter. However, medals and letters can't replace lost comrades, nor can they silence the screams and agony that play on repeat in many veterans heads. The campaign brings back to Swanovia a public health crisis, one of mental health and a test of the state's facilities to deal with thousands of cases of Dili Syndrome, a type of PTSD specific to veterans of the Dili campaign. This specific type is suspected to be amplified by lengthy exposure to hallucinogenic chemical weapons, supposedly housed in tanks spread throughout the city, however no evidence exists to prove this claim, or even the existence of said tanks.

Military Advancements and Reorganization

With the recent joining of the other South Pacific Island nations into the URI, the URI military is in an interesting spot. Several of these nations had militaries, most notably Tonga, New Caledonia and Fiji. President Jackson made the decision regarding what to do with all the men and military equipment.

All New Caledonian, Tongan and Fijian troops were absorbed into the existing URI military, bringing the approximate number to 18,773 personnel. A short recruitment drive was launched after this, bringing the number to an even 19,000 troops. Several new bases were also established all throughout the new territories and already existing bases were bolstered.

Weapon, vehicle, ship and aircraft stocks were also confiscated by the URI government. STG-90s, M-16s, AK-101s and FN FNCs have become the official standard service weapons with RPKs, M60s and Daewoo K3s being the standard light machine guns. A newly modified version of the M2 Browning machine gun will serve as the standard heavy machine gun as well as primary use on vehicles. Prussian plasma rifles will be the standard sniper rifle. All other weapons will be put into reserve.

Several L16 mortars have also been acquired, making them the first pieces of artillery in the URI military.

Due to a severe lack of vehicles to support the infantry, 30 trucks all over the URI were confiscated and created into technicals. Mounted with modified M2 Browning machine guns and light armour around the bed, driver and passenger seats, these are expected to be the primary light attack vehicles of the URI military. More are planned, with the number of technicals is expected to be increased to 60 by the end of the year. 10 Toyota Hilux trucks taken from the Fijian military will be used as transport along with Bushmaster PMVs, and Unimog U1700s.

With the acquisition of several aircraft, the URI air force has been born. Among those aircraft are CASA transport planes and numerous Utility helicopters.

The URI navy has received significant upgrades. 50 patrol boats, transport ships and a destroyer were donated by Monati. 10 total patrol boats, 2 oceanic survey vessels and 2 landing ships were added to the fleet.

Tech Report & Project Update

Postby The Equalist Imperium » Sun Jan 19, 2020 7:07 pm

Tech Update:
- The wide-scale use of Lithium Ion batteries in the grand armies has exploded and is now starting to replace the standard combustion engine. This is especially true regarding out heavier equipment such as that of our M4 Striker class light tank, M2 Hound class military grade motorbikes, the M8V4 Guardian Helmet, and other military based tech for the present and into the future. Speaking of future tech, we proudly announce the construction of the PT Caterpillar Tank which shall be launched later this month to enter service. Currently the Caterpillar Tank is in it's testing stages, hence the PT signification, and has seen much optimism since.
- Purpose of Construction and Features:
The main purpose of the PT Caterpillar Tank is to make its way over mountains and hilly conditions to reinforce or deliver supplies to the front lines with limited hassle. Due to this and it strikingly train like features, it makes for a highly versatile unit. In essence, the feature that allows it to be so versatile is it's ability to switch out its carrying load for different variants of box cars, which in turn, are highly customizable. Some of these variants include: Mortar Cannons, Missile launchers, Heavily Armored Troop Transports (HATT), Heavily Armored Cargo Containers (HACC), Radar & communication systems, and the highly unrecommend "light canon" due to it's proven ability to tip the Tank over more than hit it's mark.
One of the main aspects of the Caterpillar Tank is it's specially designed treads. The treads themselves aren't really anything new, it's the position of the treads and how they're used that makes the difference, you see, we've compiled different aspects of different tech to make this possible. For instance, we used the basic train engine mechanics to turn the wheels on the treads simultaneously and have used Lithium Ion batteries to power it. This helps reduce the amount of exhaust it gives off along with limiting the damage of CO2 while also reducing the chances of giving away out position to the enemy. The overall speed of the Caterpillar Tank ranges somewhere between 75 to 108 MPH, while not very fast it can easily be forgiven for this due to it's other uses and features along with durability. {End Report}

Project Update: Phoenix:
- Project 'Phoenix' has had a massive boom in commercialism as well as taking the weight off our economic dependence this past month. While wood Imports are almost as high as purchasing fuels from outside of the county, countering this will be somewhat simple since we have a variety of tree farms all across the Imperium ready to be used as charcoal. Although this alone won't fix out economic problems, it has done us a service by significantly reducing wood based liter by turning any spare wood into an article of value and is expected to reduce our economic strain especially with the new trade deals with the Federation in Eastern Asia. No problems regarding the project in otherwords. {End Report}

Project Update: SkySoldier:
- Project 'SkySoldier' makes way for a new generation of aerial technology and has made old tech of this variety seem worthy of the sky's once more. As many of you may know, airships use lighter than air gases to gain lift, helium was proposed but was almost immediately shot down in favor of hydrogen gas. Hydrogen gas, unlike helium, is far more cheaper as a result of it being plentiful and is ultimately lighter than helium making it a prime candidate for our airships. The few variant designs have gone through testing and construction periods over the course of the last month. It's decidedly a good use of our aluminum deposits for this project as aluminum is a plentiful, light weight material that can be used for plating across the majority of the airship. Other developments have yet to be released. {End Report}

Land near Gibraltar, unclaimed territory

The deer stood defeated, legs trembling, surrounded by snarling wolves pacing ever closer to their prey. The two genera were locked in a battle for life. As the deer stood in resignation and the wolves inched closer to their prey, it seemed that the events that would follow were as solid as destiny. Unfortunately, the landscape was set to change.

An overwhelming explosion that seemed to come from the sky itself shook the ground and sent the wolves running. Many miles away, as the explosion shattered glass in Prussian houses and threw military bases on high alert, it was evident that the battleground was to be shaken up for these humans too.

NVS Yaesu, a kilometer above Gibraltar

"Prepare for deceleration in 3,2..."

With the trailing off of Captain Jeffgay's voice, the crew braced their seats in preparation. The ship dipped down, then up, and shook with fury as the parachutes deployed and decelerated the amphibious assault ship just as it passed the 600 meter mark above Gibraltar. The fusion engine spun back to life and powered the electric engine as the ship began to glide over the naked territory below it.

Each marine saw the flares from earlier deployed drops and lined up near the door. The captain gave generic remarks reminding them of the mission they heard of many times before and flung open the door. The roar of air flying into the ship drowned out the captain's words, but they mattered little to the men as they jumped out of the ship and fell through the air. Their carefully rehearsed procession followed, as the marines secured the area of any contesting powers and made way for the infrastructure to arrive with other ships. With radio confirmation that the other marines touched down in Tangeir, the Bahams, and the Azores, and rumors spread of skirmishes between Velonian patrollers and Prussian agents, it became common knowledge that the mission was a resounding success.

Velonia has spread its wings at last, ready to re-establish herself as a paragon of power. Every power on this side of the world shall now know that they are subject to Velonian interests, and are under the mercy of her military and the space force that could touch down at any location as it pleases.

The Prussian Retaliation

It was reported that New Velonian forces had annexed and taken over Gibraltar via airborne landings. Much to the surprise of the Kaiser, the military staff, and the Prussian populace. In addition, this had also shocked the Prussians neighboring Irish allies, who had owned Gibraltar as a colony. As Velonian forces nearly instantly had begun conflict with local Prussian garrisons, the Imperial Military immediately went to action to keep the Velonians at bay.

The Armed Navy’s Mediterranean task force was to bombard the city from afar with the use of railgun cannons and missiles. The cruisers Bavaria, Frankfurt, and Vienna were to lay siege to the city out of distance from any Velonian groundbase weapons. They were far enough away so that any aircraft or - spacecraft would be detected long before they attempted to engage the Prussian warships. The air defenses consisted of fast interceptor aircraft and SAM defense systems. The naval warships escorting the cruisers (and the cruisers themselves) had anti missile defenses in the forms of CIWS emplacements and laser defenses.

The Prussian Air Force would see to the destruction of any Velonian aircraft/spacecraft trying to enter the vicinity. Knowing full well the Velonians logistical disadvantages. Surface defenses were already capable enough of taking down these aircraft, however the interceptors and fighters were added as an additional defense measure. Further more, the Air Force would also take part in strategic strikes against the Velonians. Missile strikes and bombing runs will also be part of the air forces plan to strangle the Velonians.

From the ground, artillery bombardment was used. The current troop garrison in Spain was held back from advancing on the enemy due to diplomatic meanings - the likes of which will not be mentioned until further notice.

The Jakarta Conference
Southern and Eastern Asia have been fractured from the dawn of time, from the ancient era of an Asia split north and south between the Indosphere and the Sinosphere, to more modern examples of colonial empires fracturing the continent on arbitrary lines. The outcome of these centuries of divisions is that there are bitter rivalries between certain nations, and overall a lack of any meaningful cooperation, leading to economic stagnation in many industrial sectors across the continent, mainly due to a combination of a lack of access to resources and markets overseas. Swanovia seeks to reverse this, providing her natural wealth to Asia in the form of an open market and currency union. These will reduce trade barriers, and allow the export of Swanovian iron, coal and bauxite to refineries and mills in Key Largo, Monati, The Nerf Principality, Kingdom of the Celestials and Fujianese Shanghai, the invited nations to the Conference. In attendance for Swanovia is President Henry Adams and Treasurer of the Republic Wayne Swan, who holds a masters in economics. Swanovia highly recommends that at least one delegate from each nation has some sort of training in economics to ensure a smooth flow in the Conference.

Diplomatic efforts to Hawaii.

The need to defend the UMAF and its territories have increased significantly within the government, congress, and senate, to push its way into Hawaii to guard its transportation routes from pirates or any foreign threats. Another reason is to defend the pacific to the nation’s interests, however, the government has agreed to add a degree of sovereignty to Hawaii that would enable them to still become a part of the nation, but give the UMAF authority to build infrastructures and facilities within. Congress agreed to send the nation’s best diplomatic team to establish an agreeable deal between civilizations. The journey was then set to begin within February 3rd, 2071, sending the 1st UMN fleet, 3 Swanovian submarines, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th UMN UTL fleet to set foot on the uninhabited atolls close to Hawaii to begin construction of naval ports, airfields, and military bases for 15 days, during the diplomat’s mission. The navy then fields approximately 1,000 soldiers within the atolls to complete construction and operate the bases, along with its upgraded defense systems. March 15th, Several days after the success of the diplomatic mission and the secession of Hawaii into the Federation, laser, missile, AA defenses, and defensive base infrastructures were already completed.

Meanwhile, during said mission...

“The Hawaiian civilization have received our message for a diplomatic mission.” The Admiral informs the diplomats, escorting them to Hawaii with 4 railgun destroyers and 2 cruise missile destroyers as Dispatch 4th Diplomatic Force. March 4th, 0120. A message, written by the Chieftain himself, Ochia. Described as friendly and very welcoming at the start of his message, then setting towards a darker mood and atmosphere, explaining the island's desperation and need of granting safety and resources towards their people after being isolated for so long.

March 6th, 1100. The Diplomatic fleet have finally arrived in Hawaii’s rather poor looking port. The admiral orders the destroyers to drop anchor within a moderate range from Hawaii to maintain a good relationship and trust between the inhabitants. The diplomat team are then suited up with antibacterial suits to prevent any dangerous diseases spread to the island, in which the inhabitants severely lack an immunity towards. The team even offered a vaccine to all said diseases to gain trust to the people of Hawaii of our good intentions via another message hours before reaching the islands.

Another small fleet of boats carried by transport ships, make their way to the ports for unloading various medical supplies, food, and many other resources to assist the declining population. Ochia and the elders, soon walked closer to the UMAF diplomats to set a connection with  the foreigners. Among them, Ochia, their chieftain, is most pleased with the arrival of the Monats, since the Hawaiian leader was open to great change within their society, believing that technological and scientific development was necessary towards giving preservation and prosperity to the world and to his own people. Convincing Ochia will ensure the greatest success to the mission, as everyone fully entrusts their leader and his ideas.

The diplomats begin to introduce themselves to the elders and chieftains.

“Greetings from the United Monatian Asian Federation. My name is Ashta Obrov, I come from the Northern Krai Province, that is now a part of the great nation of the UMAF.” Ashta introduces herself.

“It is with great pleasure to meet you and the elders, great Ochia. My name is Nathaniel Chu, I am from the great city of Nanning, within the southern territories of the Federation. Before our people were in great danger from outside forces vying for control and power, but with the arrival of the Monats. Our lives changed completely. We are hoping we would ensure a similar future to you and your people." Nathaniel bows with great honor to the elders.

The other diplomats then followed suit to further guarantee friendliness. After the introduction, some soon joined the sailors and workers to begin setting up the vaccine stands and move all of the valuable resources to the isolated villages. Before inviting the Monatians to Ochia's living quarters located on top of a nearby hill. He and the elders agreed first, to let them join their festival and folk dances to celebrate their new found hope. Few hours later, the celebration started with joyful singing and dancing to the diplomats and workers, though still wearing their suits to protect the Hawaiians. One of the villagers immediately grabbed Ashta's hands, forcing her to join the circle of dance around a large bonfire. A few more hours later, the celebration finally ended with an amazing first impression from the entirety of the islanders. Heading back to their homes for the next daylight to come. March 7th, will be the day to finally offer Ochia the agreements they've both discussed.

Dawn breaks from the horizon at 0600, lighting the skies with a nostalgic orange gradient mixed with the purple blue, leaving, only to return the next several hours later to bring rest within the isolated island. 0800, the diplomats begin their stroll in the village to greet Ochia and his people once again, hopefully to start their long awaited conversation. Screaming with laughter and kids yelling playfully, Ochia greets them once again with great respect.

"Good morning Ashta and Nathaniel! Will you join us for our morning feast and finally talk about the discussion we've had previous days ago I presume?" Ochia guessed accurately.

"It is an honor to sit with the elders and as well, discuss our agreement Mr. Ochia." Ashta says.

After the morning feast is finished, the crowd sitting within the large feast dispersed to do their regular schedules of harvest, maintaining the surrounding nature, gathering essential herbal medicines and etc. Several of our doctors and nurses, also wearing an antibacterial suit, passionately observed the tribes women carefully, handpicking the gentle green with varied seasonings for different results. It was amazing how they can easily manipulate the compounds to get a desired reaction and outcome, clearing almost any ailments they can encounter. Anyways, the team was finally escorted to the village hall along with the elders to discuss with the agreements. The diplomats conjured their list of requests, following the Hawaiian people's soon after.

The UMAF requests is listed below.

Secession of its independent territory into the Federation

Authority to initiate construction of essential infrastructures and facilities

Provide resources and services for the inhabitants

Provide citizenship for said inhabitants and opportunities for higher learning

Construct defenses and bases for necessary protection

Guidelines for certain crop productions

And finally, vaccinations to protect the people from dangerous foreign diseases.

Though most of the elders highly agree to go with the demands of the diplomats, while others are skeptical. They pulled up their own list of demands to be met in order to reach a fair deal.

The elder's requests listed below contain.

The right to preserve their culture, history, and knowledge for future generations.

Full rights to law and compensations for failure to comply

Rights to provide women with higher learning, most specifically in the medical sector,

In exchange they will also provide knowledge on herbs and plants.

Have a Gov't funded higher learning program and institutions before being extremely self sufficient.

Have the right to take part in the new construction of new facilities in terms of greater efficiency, seismic standards, and environmental standards after some of their people have completed their degrees.

And provide clean energy instead of the more damaging use of oils and coals. (The govt will build two SAHENR reactors for the islanders to use)

With all the requests from both sides listed and announced, few changes were made to further please both parties, one of such is that the UMAF shall be given medical services to every corner of the island and establish effective virus containment systems. Finally at 1200, one day after the discussions first started, a deal was finally settled. March 12th, 1500, the diplomats announce their success to the government, and so shall the next phase commences.

Full development within the Hawaii.

After the recession of Hawaii in March 12th, 2071, more workers from almost every field were sent in by the government to initiate full development of Hawaii into a self sustaining economic state of the UMAF. Transport ships, freighters, and the entire fleet sitting nearby the atolls finally advance to Hawaii to haul in resources to begin building new ports, harbors, airfields, military bases, roads, and new more efficient infrastructures and buildings towering the promised preserved villages made of traditional regular houses, inspired in the 1960s era. An agreement was also included from the list, requesting a temporary powerplants using fossil fuels to power the facilities as well as the defense systems, acting as a substitute after the SAHENR reactors, which are more efficient nuclear reactors, taking less time to build and operate within 3.5 - 4 years. TSSEP incinerators will also be built to provide clean energy within the communities. As for defense, more advanced and faster AA missiles are set up all across the island, setting a long perimeter, along with an automated AA gatling platforms with specialized flak shells for medium-to-short range defense. The programming system will be able to detect allied aircraft, registered airliners, and commercial aircrafts, although certain humanoid figures will be deemed as a threat if such were to dive towards the bases, once again as a temporary solution before more viable laser defence systems finish within almost a year or so. April 6th, new more advanced, faster frag missiles replaced the outdated automated gatling system almost entirely, although a few are still operational within some areas of Hawaii. The new AFFMs have longer range and can strike targets at higher altitudes with the UMAF's latest radar technologies. The atolls were also fitted with new AA and AS defense systems for necessary quick strikes against foreign attacks. By June 27th, defenses and military infrastructures, which was one of the highest priorities was finished.

Next of July 2nd, funding continued to pour into more civil necessities of infrastructures and facilities. Industries were also established to provide stable jobs and boosting its economy. Medical facilities and laboratories gave way for new opportunities to discover the islands natural wonders. New nurses and medical practitioners, once were inhabitants, now join the workforce to assist their fellow Monat brethren to significantly improve living conditions in Hawaii. By the end of September, the ports and airfields were nearly a third quarter of completion, SAHENR reactors are in good progress of construction. With Hawaii becoming the new hub for trade between the Americas, Oceania, and Asia, more reinforcements of navy fleets were deployed to further protect the islands. New developments will soon begin to benefit them once again.

A Velonian Surprise

Postby Taoiseach Federalist Unions » Tue Jan 21, 2020 3:18 pm

Gibraltar
The men stood with their dorportian compatriots, prepared to spread the glory of Hibernia and her power around the globe once more. Members of the European Commonwealth were not pleased with recent Velonian tricks and an unwarranted declaration of war on their sovereign territory. Luckily, a small force locked in 6.7 square kilometers was not much for the combined force of most of Europe. The hills would prove useful too, insofar as the velonians were contained to the west.

Colonel Sean McCarthy stood, Siagora blaster out, preparing for the first real fight of his life. Officer school really didn’t teach you much in terms of actual fighting. Drills, exercises, and a classroom could only teach so much. The thick darkness of the night covered most of the moon, and the music of the night carried with the sounds of buzzing bugs and wilting plants. Suddenly, screams erupted from the ocean. Missiles streaked down towards the city, prussian railgun cannons pounding into the nearby buildings and earth. Hibernian cruisers also joined in the fray, peppering any attempts by the Velonians to begin an assault back.

He moved forward, his feet guiding him towards the outskirts of the city. Jake, his Dorportian friend, held out his shield and smaller Siagora model 4 pistol, preparing to save McCarthy’s life, no matter the cost. The rumble of a plane was heard as it took off, preparing to fight to hold the Velonian territory, but quickly the air defenses and SAM system set up by the Prussians shot it down, shooting down hopes of any counter-offensive. Quickly, Sean reached the city outskirts, firing haphazardly at a few Velonian marines while his squadron began to rain fire down. A group of Taran class fighter jets streaked by, launching a payload of missiles onto a military outpost and leveling it to the ground. One was hit by a Velonian rocket and spun out, eventually flipping into the ocean, never to be seen again.

Somewhere in Prussia
The Kaiser laughed as Prime Minister Bagley poured another glass of celebratory wine.
“Can you believe it,” bagley began. “They waltz into europe, pick something that is the smallest territory here, and expect to hold it against the might of a continent against them? Unbelievable!.”

“Yes indeed, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. We always knew that a united Europe would repel all”

“And so it shall Kaiser, and so it shall.”

Gibraltar
The helicopter’s blades slowed as it landed and Parliamentarian Boris Hohnson leapt out, greeted by Colonel Sean McCarthy, large groups of soldiers, and Hibernian and Prussian naval might, freshly cleared from a finished battle.

“Good evening Boris,” called McCarthy curtly.

“How great it is to see you” cried Boris, quickly reaching out to shake Sean’s hand. “Is it true that the Velonians ran in fear?”

“Well sir, we do have more prisoners than usual. But that is to be expected when facing an inferior people. We all know that Velonians aren’t a power when it comes to war”

“Indeed they aren’t. Show me that site where the plane exploded, we’re supposed to grant him some honours in the next meeting of Parliament,” Boris began, bumbling as Sean McCarthy led him to look over the remnants of Velonian defeat.

History of the Equalist Imperium.

Postby The Equalist Imperium » Tue Jan 21, 2020 8:51 pm

The History of the Equalist Imperium & the beginning and end of their isolationism.

- At the time, the country of Argentina was a fairly prosperous land and was one of the most renowned for some of it's trading commodities and it's wine...however...it was also in the midst of a turning point which would ultimately go on to shape the nation going forth. It was made clear that the citizens of the time were discontent with they way things were being ran around the country. Many of these issues flew into riots and caused for rebellion which only went on to worsen the issues. Some of these issues ranged from not having a strong enough militia, or religious representation within certain parts of the country, to lack of proper funding in critical areas such as insurance and the strength of the economy, which in turn, caused for many other areas to quickly fall into a downward spiral.

Soon enough...civil war broke out and tore the county in many divided areas, each with their own conflicting ideals on how things should be ran. The year was 2024, March 23rd when the first few sides in this war clashed.

Eventually, other sides created their own names sake as a means to make clear their intentions and perhaps gain favors for their side, one of these "sub-factions" was the Equalists. The war raged on for about a decade and many sub-factions were destroyed, regained, or forced outside of the country altogether. During the late 2020's trench warfare was fairly popular since at this point many tanks were destroyed or had broken down, rendered useless, and so digging elaborate tunnels and building trenches was a strong tactic. The remains of the former country of Argentina can still be seen strongly due to the rubble of once towering, proud cities that would run along the coast and reach into the sky further inland...that all changed over the course of nearly 2 decades worth of civil war.

The biggest battle fought in the war was "The battle for Buenos Aires", the nations previous and current capital. It was at this battle that decided the fate of the entire county and what would reform the nation...but it certainly didn't come easy. At the start of the war there were over 100 different factions playing for the nations future, later this number stood at 23 factions. 46 Million was the population during the start of the war, however as other sub-factions were dissolved and absorbed into some of the other more powerful and influential factions, the population had fallen by about 10% towards the end of the second month.

During the year 2025, many of the more powerful factions had some key military equipment including the former government of the country which also had a side in all this. Some of these key elements to this war were tanks, ammo, planes, jets, missile launchers, and of course, guns. Many rebellion groups were military officers who broke away along with their posts and weaponry which gave them an early advantage during the start of the war but was later recognized by other factions. All this conflict and their position on the globe made things difficult for outsiders and over all, unwelcoming, this drove them into a state of isolationism which would be upheld until the early 2070's.

Due to this problem and lack of adequate training for such combat abilities, this left the people of Argentina to resort to relying on more hand to hand combat training, swordsmanship, and even archery when things got especially tough. This proved to be a fair advantage later on as people with even the most basic of hand to hand training were far more likely to come back alive than those who didn't when facing against sword wielding foes. Since most manufacturers were subdued, out of business, or out right destroyed this not only devastated the economy but even put a halt to all manufacturing of weapons and ammunition too. On the sea things were even worse, most of the navy belonged to the original government of Argentina, and these fleets went on to dominate the seas destroying every other smaller force that confronted them...however, it was only a matter of time before they lost too many ships to be deemed a threat. When Buenos Airs fell, whatever was left of the fleet and a couple loyalists left for the Falklands and the South Georgia Islands knowing full well many of the remaining ships of the now rebel navy were either crippled or continuing the civil war along the coast.

The Battle for Buenos Aires!

- The de-facto capital of the county was Buenos Aires, and whoever controlled it had some influence over the other factions but mainly acted as a viable resource to exploit. You see, that little influence was enough to gain help beyond Argentina, and so long as it was still the main capital it helped to bring outside sympathizers and trade goods to whoever owned it. Buenos Aires later turned into a fort after the Equalists, now the Imperium, seized it. Now, Buenos Aires was the bloodiest battle fought for perhaps the longest time throughout the course of the war. When the original government was forced out of the county and fled into some of the surrounding islands it opened up a huge opportunity to take that position and would further solidify whoever held it at the end of the civil war as the official the victor. When Buenos Aires was first captured it didn't last very long against the other opposing sides encroaching upon them, it then quickly turned into a major battle field which saw the deaths of just over 27% of the standing population.

After the Equalists had gained the most favor and power across the country, it became apparent that they may strike Buenos Aires next...this was fairly late in the war and they had already taken the southern most parts of Argentina, creeping their way up the coast. So the current militias that had some part or another of the capital quickly began to fortify themselves and continued that battle. Many of the few factions that held some kinda control over Buenos Aires were reserved and simply waited for the Equalists to arrive so they had less of a chance of being booted from their positions as quickly as the rest of the factions were, this needless to say worked out in their favor, but only for awhile. By 2031, the Equalists had successfully taken Buenos Aires and held that position for the rest of the war which paved the way to their victory.

Rise of the Imperium and the start of Isolationism.

- When the Equalists had a strong grip on most of the eastern, southern, and central territories they worked to institutionalize their version of government: A Direct Democracy/Moralistic Diplomacy based government, which later focused more on Monarchs with the populous voting and creating the laws while the Emperor reviews them for approval. The Emperor has no ability to create laws, only to control the counties assets, economy, military, diplomacy, Public safety, and the intelligence bureau. Everything else is created for or by the people, this includes national security, policing forces, public transportation, and many more which are all listed in the nations constitution.

At the time, the leader of this faction was 'Aciries Fernandez' who first brought about the formation of this government and it's followers. Later, during a period of isolationism, 'Kaldwel Fernandez' rose to power as he was next in line for the throne and has continued to rule since. At the time of Aciries rule, many reforms and laws were created to help improve conditions, most of which were passed. And so, the Equalist Imperium was born as the last of Argentina was seized and renamed as such...only months later when the war had ended, Aciries Fernandez announced the Isolationist status of the newly formed country and stated it was a matter of ethical and fundamental importance. The nation then went through a period of reconstruction, with most of it's infrastructure devastated over the course of the war it suffered in it's early years of rebuilding, some of which still lingers today.

During the period of Isolationism the Imperium strengthened it's ability to fight in the off chance they may be invaded. This was a precautionary measure to ensure that during isolationism the Imperium would still be fully capable of fending off an attack by anyone who'd made the assumption they were in a weakened state or sought out open land which in the imperiums case was very much occupied. This later evolved into the Grand Imperium Army which took value in the old teachings of combat that were used fairly heavily throughout the civil war such as swordsmanship, archery, hand to hand combat practices, and even knife throwing. All this was in an effort to help preserve the new government and to make sure reconstruction went uninterrupted.

"History class adjourned."

Wormhole experimentations.

The QNTM Physics Foundation, which is both a private funded company with government support, only for emergencies, conducts various experiments along with technologies which includes varied types of physics. The foundation, which have, to a great extent, top minded students whom have graduated to diverse universities with great scientific and mathematical knowledge.

This type of wormhole would hide electromagnetic waves from view from the outside. The great difficulty, is to construct the method that would work for light required materials that are extremely impractical and difficult to work with. Theoretically these Einstein-Rosen bridges, or wormholes, could allow something to tunnel instantly between great distances (though the tunnels in this theory are extremely tiny, so ordinarily wouldn't fit a space traveler).

Magnetic wormhole

the materials to make a magnetic wormhole already exist and are much simpler to come by. In particular, superconductors, which can carry high levels of current, or charged particles, expel magnetic field lines from their interiors, essentially bending or distorting these lines. Essentially allowing the magnetic field to do something different from its surrounding 3D environment, which is the first step in concealing the disturbance in a magnetic field.

QNTM then designed a three-layer object, consisting of two concentric spheres with an interior spiral-cylinder. The interior layer essentially transmitted a magnetic field from one end to the other, while the other two layers acted to conceal the field's existence.

The inner cylinder was made of a ferromagnetic mu-metal. Ferromagnetic materials exhibit the strongest form of magnetism, while mu-metals are highly permeable and are often used for shielding electronic devices.

A thin shell made up of a high-temperature superconducting material called yttrium barium copper oxide lined the inner cylinder, bending the magnetic field that traveled through the interior.

A new device has created a magnetic wormhole, in which a magnetic field enters one end and seems to pop out of nowhere on the other side. The final shell was made of another mu-metal, but composed of 150 pieces cut and placed to perfectly cancel out the bending of the magnetic field by the superconducting shell. The whole device was placed in a liquid-nitrogen bath (high-temperature superconductors require the low temperatures of liquid nitrogen to work).

Normally, magnetic field lines radiate out from a certain location and decay over time, but the presence of the magnetic field should be detectable from points all around it. However, the new magnetic wormhole funnels the magnetic field from one side of the cylinder to another so that it is "invisible" while in transit, seeming to pop out of nowhere on the exit side of the tube, the researchers report today in the journal Scientific Reports.

Broader applications

There's no way to know if similar magnetic wormholes lurk in space, but the technology could have applications on Earth. For instance, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines use a giant magnet and require people to be in a tightly enclosed central tube for diagnostic imaging. But if a device could funnel a magnetic field from one spot to the other, it would be possible to take pictures of the body with the strong magnet placed far away, freeing people from the claustrophobic environment of an MRI machine. The researchers would need to modify the shape of their magnetic wormhole device. A sphere is the simplest shape to model, but a cylindrical outer shell would be the most useful.

Attending the Jakarta Conference.

After the genius introduction of proposing a special economic zone which is specified, only for the great asian nations situated within East Asia and SouthEast Asia. Samantha Lee, an honors graduate from Shanghai University, one of the most prestigious and elite universities within all of the UMAF, specializing in medicine, chemistry, engineering, and economics/business, who has also worked in a large company as their head economics and financier lead, in both CETI (Cell engineering Technological Institute) for 10 years and Panaseaia for 8 years. She, then took a 5 year program to complete her masters degree, further into economics. After saving one of the UMAF’s largest and most important companies, AJaX Defense Industry from bankruptcy, her experience in the field is highly sought for in the intense professional industries. Leading her to finally become a treasurer for the Federation, serving within the government. The president, Ishiga Hokkaido will attend the conference via airline to Jakarta, the one of the largest cities in the Swanovian Republic (Swan Coastal Plain) with Samantha, along with some bodyguards for ensured security.

BURMA - Southeast Asia [2070]

Sleepless in Swanovia - Perth, Swanovia [08.01.2070]

King Henry III has been on his tour of the world for some time now. He delayed it at first, focusing instead on the invasion of Siam in the early days of his Regency. Now, however, it was time for him to relax. He had taken a break from all of his diplomatic responsibilities while he could still travel foreign countries without being universally recognised. He was set to carry out a public press conference with the Swanovian President, Henry Adams, the next morning, but tonight was time for himself.

He had consulted with his security detail for some time before they agreed to his wishes. He planned to set out on the bustling Oceanian nation’s beautiful capital and experience its nightlife for the first time (and due to the unfortunate realities of modern technology, also quite likely the last). Around nine o’clock he left the Presidential Suite of the Intercontinental Hotel at Perth to check out one of the cities most popular night clubs, The King’s Court. Shortly after his arrival, a young girl caught his eye.

King Henry: You come here often?

At first she didn’t respond. She gave him the once over, then one more, pausing in all the key places. He supposed he should be flattered, evidently she didn’t recognise him which was always a good place to start.

King Henry: I said -
Girl: [dryly] I heard you, but say something worth responding to.
King Henry: Feisty one, you are; can’t say I don’t like it on you [he chuckles].
Girl: Oh thank God, I need your approval like I need water.
King Henry: Well then, how might I go about making my opinion matter to you, Miss…?”

She thinks at first. He can’t quite read what exactly is running through her mind. Perhaps he’s grown rusty, after all, effort is not really required of him with the women back home; they see his face and know his status, after that they hardly listen to what he has to say.

Girl: Delia; and I’m not sure, but perhaps you could start by buying me a drink.
King Henry: Well then, Miss Delia, perhaps that can be arranged [he turns to the bartender]. Barkeep! [he shouts] one Martini, shaken and…
Delia: A Gin and tonic.
King Henry: Gin and tonic huh? Okay, and a Gin and tonic for the pretty lady right here.
Delia: [sarcastically] Oh stop it, you’ll make me blush. I never caught your name by the way…
King Henry: Henry, Henry Stetford.

She grabbed her drink and turned from the bar to head off.

Delia: Well, it’s been a pleasure, Henry Stetford.

As she walked away, he turned to his escort.

King Henry: Find her for me, I must have her.
Commander Kingsley: As you wish, my liege.

Phase II - Salawin National Park, Key Largo [08.02.2070]

The newly appointed Minister for Defense, General Lawrence Ellis Rollins. sits at a picnic table just outside the secure zone of Base Camp 0. He is deliberating the events that should follow in the coming days with his Military Advisors. He looks out across the field in front of him and surveys the soldiers he has been tasked to lead in this impending invasion, and carefully remembers the fate of his predecessor.

General Wallace Regis MacArthur was a great man and an even better leader, that much could not be denied by any loyal Largae. Filling his shoes in any capacity would be a tall order for any man. But General Rollins was not like any other man. His story was incredibly similar to that of General MacArthur. A soldier from the day he could first serve, he climbed the ranks quickly from the very off. After a few years of school, he found himself in Officer School, working his way towards the big brass. He climbed through this hierarchy even faster than he had the enlisted ranks; reaching the rank of General just eleven years after being promoted to Officer. Now he found himself at the top of the top, the Minister for Defense at the tender age of forty-five.

The men around him respected him greatly, though he was not certain they would obey him blindly at just this juncture; after all, he was nearly ten years the junior of even his youngest General.

General Rollins: Well boys, here we are.
General Remus: Indeed sir, have you reviewed our plans?
General Rollins: I have, and I am quite pleased with them; however, are we certain of the pace we have planned for this expedition as we march towards Naypyitaw? It seems rather brisk, I don’t want to overextend our men too quickly; the campaign ahead of us is long and uncertain after all.
General Douglas: Indeed, but I don’t see why this is of too much concern at this juncture. It’s only slightly more ambitious than that of our expedition into Siam -
General Rollins: But I think we would be remiss to neglect remembering what happened in Siam. Though it is not a happy memory for any of us, we must consider the role of our pace in the outcome.
General Wickens: I believe that was more consequential of the Siamese ignorance to their Emperor’s abdication than the pace at which we breached the nation.
General Douglas: I concur, Wickens; I personally believe that an ambitious pace remains in our best interest to retain the element of surprise. It’s only a matter of time before the Burmese heighten alert after the events in Siam, especially if they take note of our proximity to their borders throughout our march up the peninsula. If they detect even the slightest hint that we surveyed much of their peninsular territory we may have more of a resistance than anticipated.
General Rollins: I suppose you have a fair point there; but the morale of the men cannot be ignored. Are we certain this won’t be sacrificed in excess as consequence of such little rest in the early days of this invasion?
General Remus: This is certainly a possibility, but I think you underestimate the will of our soldiers; though that is far from your fault. Anyone would be remiss to ignore the possibility for such insurrection after a conflict resulting in such widespread casualties, especially when among the dead lie our longstanding Minister for Defense and several high-ranking officers. The men we have left were certainly rattled, but routine mental health checks have cleared them all for combat with flying colours, though a small handful of our men will remain behind for additional counseling. Those we bring with us come with glowing reviews, and I think that reason enough to trust their spirits.

General Rollins pondered these remarks for some time. He stood up from the picnic table and walked out towards the hill, taking in the sunset as he considered what he had been told. Their arguments did concern him somewhat, they questioned his logic to some extent; but at the same time their points were very much valid. He was erring a bit on the side of caution if he was being completely honest with himself, though who wouldn’t. He was very recently tasked with safeguarding these men and women’s lives through the impending military campaigns, some fear was inherently justified. After brief consideration, he turned and returned to his cohorts.

General Rollins: I have decided we should proceed as initially planned, I trust your judgement - you have served with and lead these men far longer than I, so I trust you know their tendencies better than I would at this juncture.
General Remus: Don’t take it as a lack of faith in your judgement; this is simply faith in our men.
General Rollins: I can certainly appreciate such a level of trust. I hope with time I can come to feel secure in it myself as well, but at this time I will rely on my trust in you all. Night is coming though, gentlemen; I think it’s time we all get some sleep, we have an early start tomorrow, after all.

They headed back for camp to turn in for the night, the bugler trumpeted out to call the soldiers back in for the night as well. The road ahead was uncertain, but the scales were certainly tipped in favour of the Largae once again.

The Naval Front - Yangon, Burma [08.14.2070]

The fleet drew in on Yangon. This coastal city had long served as the Naval hub of Burma and would serve as the first fatal strike against the Burmese independence from Key Largo. King Henry had planned a chain reaction of attacks to lead to the eventual fall of Burma, though he hoped surrender would come before the conflict drew too far into his initial plans. The attacks on Yangon and Mandalay would occur simultaneously, so long as there were no hang ups at Naypyitaw. Upon landing at Yangon, troops would be dispatched to Vientiane. Word had not yet come from Naypyitaw, though they expected no news was good news. The plan was to cut out communications for the capital city to prevent word from getting out about the invasion.

Admiral Tyrus Versutian surveyed the horizon ahead as they approached the shore. He was not certain what to expect, though they came with the element of surprise still on their side if plans to suppress transmission had been successful, the Navy was based in these harbours. A full-scale response was much more likely here than in the cities the Army was set to invade. He stepped back from the periscope and took a moment to ground himself once more; the stress of this invasion was really starting to get to him, he worried they had prepared for a more underwhelming response than was certainly possible of the Burmese Navy. Their adversaries were far from a Naval superpower; h***, even calling them a Naval power was a stretch, but the fleet they came with was prepared for something more along the lines of a small insurrection.

He turned to walk into the war room aboard the destroyer he was captaining, as he walked in, his Admirals stood to salute him.

Admiral Versutian: At ease, gentlemen.

They quickly retook their seats and watched as their Commanding Officer strode to his seat at the head of the table.

Admiral Versutian: We are quickly approaching the Yangon River, I think some consideration should be made to modifying the plans to allow our infantry to disembark at Tadar.
Admiral Westin: What are the benefits of such a diversion from the plans, sir?
Admiral Versutian: Well, Westin, we would be remiss to ignore the fact that our movement through the Yangon River towards the Yangon Harbour will almost certainly come with some scrutiny from the Burmese; if we disembark at Tadar before continuing onwards down the river, we may retain to some level the element of surprise in a land based attack following the arrival of our naval forces.
Admiral Guernsey: I see, so as we bring our ships into the Harbour and begin our blockade of their naval forces, the infantry comes in from the east of the city and begins some sort of pincer maneuver to trap their soldiers between the two fronts, forcing their surrender?
Admiral Versutian: Precisely, Guernsey. Additionally this has the benefit of preventing the necessity of any large-scale destruction of their naval vessels, which in the long-term is incredibly beneficial to our Naval resources. While their ships are certainly outdated, they do provide some level of reinforcements as we continue to move our way along the coast towards future targets until we fortify our Navy with more modern ships.
Admiral Westin: All I’m hearing here are positives, so there must be something missing; after all, if there’s no cons, I hardly see any need in consulting us.
Admiral Versutian: Very observant of you, Westin, there are indeed some cons; though I’m not certain how consequential they are when weighed against the pros of such a decision. There is the chance our infantry is discovered, or even worse, intercepted; however, it is incredibly slight at this time under the assumption of our Army counterparts’ success.
Admiral Westin: Well you know what they say, when you assume -
Admiral Versutian: - you make an arse out of you and me, yes I’m aware; but in this scenario I find assumptions to be rather necessary. I have weighed the possible outcomes and consider this to be one of the less likely ones should we proceed with this new plan.
Admiral Guernsey: Well in that case, I am, personally, on board with this revised plan. You Westin?

He nodded.

Admiral Versutian: Excellent. Then we shall make landfall at Tadar momentarily, prepare our infantry for disembarkment and then we shall continue towards Yangon as planned prior.

They stood up abruptly and watched as Admiral Versutian slunk out of the room. He hoped this new plan would succeed; if it failed, he could scarcely imagine what the King would do to him as punishment.

The Reckoning - Naypyidaw, Burma [08.07.2070]

The march to Naypyidaw had gone far swifter than General Lawrence Rollins could have ever hoped. The city of Than Daung Gvi had folded at the sight of the Largae forces as they moved in to set up Camp on the third day. A full-scale occupation was to be carried out to prevent leak of knowledge that the Largae forces were present within Burmese borders; they needed to preserve the element of surprise if they wished to take the capital as swiftly as they had the peninsula.

Civilian casualties were to be avoided at all costs, as was the usual rule. Insurrection was to be punished, but with mild repercussions rather than military execution to prevent any significant Civil Strife. After their night of rest, most of the corps broke camp to continue the trek, leaving a small number of garrison troops behind to maintain order in the newly occupied city.

As the Largae millitary moved into Naypyidaw, it became apparent that a military resistance was incredibly unlikely. Unfortunately this did not mean there was no resistance at all; the Civil outcry against their presence was significant. As they marched through the city towards the Imperial Fortress, Burmese citizens threw themselves at the feet of the soldiers, crying out for their departure.

The military police began to drum up a resistance force as the legions of Largae troops pressed on towards the city center, and a firefight broke out. The collateral damage was immense. Though the Largae troops were careful in their return fire, the amateur Burmese MPs retaliated blindly; shooting both their own men and those of the enemy.

A Burmese man caught in the crossfire dragged himself to the feet of Commander Yaxley; an Officer of the Largae military and veteran of fifteen years of service to his glorious country.

Burmese Man: You’ll answer to God for this [he cried].
Commander Yaxley: What God? Do you see him here? Point him out to me. What God is this that forsakes his own children in their time of direst need? That forsakes his own children for all of time. Remember for me a time where your prayers were answered [he pauses] you can’t, can you? What God is this? Let him be Goliath and I David, then read ye his Epitaph:

“Here lies a toppled God, his fall was not a small one; the blind hath built his pedestal, this narrow and tall one. Like sheep they followed, past greener pastures, but never did they stray; until I lifted up their blinders, on this God forsaken day.”

Look unto me children, bow down before your true Deity. Long have you knelt at the foot of a man that ne’er answered your calls for help; but now your God is me.
Burmese Man: We shall never recognise such an illegitimate regime, you may take this land but it will never obey.
Commander Yaxley: Spoken like the sheep you are [he spat]. How blind can you be? Are you truly ignorant to the conflict around you, or do you simply refuse to see the source of the bullets which strike down you and your fellow citizens? I could never bring harm to Civilians, let alone my own, and yet you bow to a regime so willing to discard you as collateral damage to a war in which they stand no chance? Pitiful. Key Largo will bring great things to your people, should you choose to accept it; reject it and this Burmese regime will be your reaper. Stood by them you will certainly die; with us, at least you stand a fighting chance.

As the Largae special forces breached the front gates of the Imperial Fortress, Commander Yaxley helped the young Burmese man to his feet.

Burmese Man: I suppose then, we stand together; in defense of a futile cause is not the death I want for myself.
Commander Yaxley: It is not the death of an honourable man. Oftentimes, the wise decision is not the one that feels noble in justification; but it’s wisdom lends it nobility in supplant.

The Commander helped the wounded man back to the Red Cross tent behind the Largae fortifications for medical assistance. He prayed the fighting subsided soon, as he was not sure how many more Civilian collateral he could bear to witness.

We’re gonna build a Wall, and the Bigtopians are gonna pay for it… - Postal Briefing

By order of His majesty, King Henry III of Key Largo,

It shall henceforth be made known to the general public that the construction of several fortifications throughout the Largae territory have been underway for some time. These fortifications shall work in conjunction with the existing wall around the City of Key Largo to protect against any attempted invasion. The walls are being implemented for your protection, and therefore complete cooperation is expected of all residents and citizens of Key Largo and her Outer Regions.

By order of His majesty, King Henry III of Key Largo, any citizens who find him/herself displaced as a result of this infrastructural project shall be compensated for their losses and relocated into new housing as near their previous residence as is possible. Anti-separatistic operation on Hiiumaa and Saaremaa islands
9th July 2070

Since 2064 Estonian islands of Hiiumaa and Saaremaa were fighting for independence, or rather to be recognized as Russian territories. They sent their claims once again during Southern German invasion of Ukraine. Unfortunately, they were not considered because of the confusion related to the international situation, so the islanders decided to take matters into their own hands with “little support of foregin aid”.

Image

On the morning of 9th July garrisons in Käina, Kihelkonna and Kuressaare Air Base were shelled. Islands garrison were undergoing overall modernisation and refit while everything happened. Disorganisation led to complete overrun of some outposts and resulted in huge casaluties. Around 45% of all soldiers stationing on islands where on patrols. Shelling lasted for around 8 minutes and destroyed elements of Käina Base as well as two NH90N helicopters in Kuressaare AB. After that all troops on patrols where called back to their bases to organise defences. But it was too late. Separatists organsed ambushes in the forrests to prewent any help for surrounded bases. All garrison units were scattered and cut off. Till 10:20 Southern German troops on islands recived only minor artilerry support from mainland, while 320th Marine Division was preparing to cross Gulf of Riga. 20 minutes later, first group was sended to land in Kuressaare. 40 minutes later group informed that they are shelled from Mändjala and contact with them have been lost. At 11:30 two platoons from islands garrison made contact and reported that they are holding the area from Anseküla to Sääre. That gived the idea of safe crossing for 320th Mar. Div. Meanwhile, once again, whole country was placed in martial law. Also group of 275th Mot. Div. managed to reach town of Kärdla to prevent insurgents from capturing it. In this town, was stationed battery of NSM anti-ship missiles – another battery of this system was placed in Kuressaare, while Uran AShM battery was placed in Kalana. Uran system was derivative of Russian Bastion-P missile system bought in 2034. At 12:00 one squad from 320th Mar. Div. made it across through Irbe Strait and landed in Sääre village. After positive report, whole 2nd Reg. was directed there to retake Saaremaa Island. At 13:40, ad hoc formed Battlegroup Lindle pushed insurgents towards Järve and Lõmala. 1st Coy. was ordered to capture Mändjala, but encountered heavy resitence in the surrounding forests. 10 minutes later battlecruiser “Admiral Tallen“ and missile crusier “Halle“ from Bay of Riga. 305mm shells and guided missiles broke enemy defences and troops stationing at Abruka island could now land safely. By 14:30 Battlegroup Lindle established line from Kuressaare to Kipi. Meanwhile unit from Kärdla moved to the south-east and secured area all over to Tempa village. By doing so, they secured landing zone for reinforcements, but their troops were stretched thin across the whole line. Also three fregates from Klaipėda were dispatched to support allied troops from Balitc Sea and one Territorial Infantry Battalion managed to cross Suur Strait and joined troops at Muhu island preparing to attack throught causeway towards Saaremaa. At 15:50 two companies of paratroopers were dropped between Putkaste and Kogri by C-295s. One of these planes were shoot down by anti-air gun and crashed near Lauka. Troops reached Käina 12 minutes later but instead of meeting local garisson troops they bumped into enemy resitance, including prototype Type 57 tanks stored at Nõmba base. This forced 910th Airborne Brigade to send in help of armoured vehicles. At the same time TIB secured Orissaare and Tornimäe and now was mowing towards Valjala to secure crossroad. Meanwhile, troops from 2. Reg. took Masa and Vedruka but were unable to secure crossroad in Kõljala. Also helicopter transportation was now avaible due to the frontline being pushed away from Kuressaare Air Base. At this time most of soldier who were behind enemy lines managed to get to frendly lines. At 16:25 next wave of troops was airdropped near Käina by A450M and C-25 transport planes, including VBCAs and 2S25s. They landed under fire from small-arms. Soon after Southern German attack planes finally arrived and eliminated most of enemy resistance. Paratroopers arrived in town at 16:55 and eliminated rest of insurgents together with their remaining Type 57s. Then allied troops started to serach town for troops defending it ealier. Several soldier entered warehouse in the city center and have seen dramatic scene. 47 soldiers defending the city in morning were shot againts the wall there. Soon after 3rd Reg. form 275th Mot. Div. reached paratroopers. Whole incident was reported to the Ground Forces HQ. Meanwhile, fregates from Klaipėda were on course when radars localised AShMs incoming towards them. They started to make maneuvers but for F465 was too late. Vessel after defeating first missile got hit directly into the bridge. F458 and F521 were forced to withdrawn. 10 minutes later Hs-330 drones located position of launching of Uran missiles. Using thermal optics, drone operators quickly get rid of TELs and other equipment. Soon after this, defece of insurgents begin to falling apart, and clean-up operation was ordered.

By 19:40 one thing was sure, normal guerillas wouldn't be able to operate system like Uran. Search group confirmed, that the troopers operating Urans were wearing Russian uniforms without insignias. Also a lot of guns used by insurgents was Russian-made AK-12s and AK-15s. MoD ordered to block passage through Gulf of Finland to any ship bearing russian bandera and to strenghten eastern border to fight off any possible attacks. But no one would expect, how fast things would have escalated.

The Spanish Occupation - Outskirts of Seville

The mood is cheerful in the Prussian military outpost outside of Seville. The locals have been grateful to the Prussian soldiers who had walked through town - giving bread and treats and other such delectables. In return, some soldiers gave them Preußisch Marks as well as flowers. Although there was very little signs of any pro-Spanish government forces or rebels left within the area, the Prussian forces - a detachment of the 23. Motorisierte Infanteriedivision was left in charge of the town.

Waldmann and Eckhart are around a campfire with several other platoonmates. “Victorious, as always!” Waldmann yells as he throws down a card. “I deploy ten troops to square H4, you’re done for, Klaus!” Klaus grins, throwing down another card. “Two heavy panzers and eighteen troops with artillery support to H3, engaging H4. Six tanks and thirty infantry to square B4, your reserves have been cut off! I win!”

Waldmann is thoroughly displeased. “I swear, every time I have an advantage - I am beaten!”

“Perhaps that would be true, if you had an advantage. Make sure to learn from the master before trying to defeat him.” Klaus tells him, jokingly.

Another figure steps up, with a set of cards. "Artillery bombardment between H3, H6, G3, and G6." He promptly rolls two dices, getting two sixes. "All forces located within the bombardment have been destroyed. I deploy eight heavy tanks and fifty infantry to square B4 to engage you, Klaus."

Klaus and Waldmann are disgusted and outraged as the figure throws down another two dices, getting two fives. "Klaus, you have been defeated. Since you have no more armed reserves, that is a victory for me." The figure sits down, popping open a can of rations. "You disgust me, Adam!" Klaus shouts. "You should be more calm, Klaus. Play your cards right, and perhaps you can win."

As Klaus and Adam begin to start an argument over who is the better player at this game, Eckhart nudges Waldmann. "If you weren't so eager to attack, you could've beaten Klaus." He says. "Oh, quit it!" Waldmann says, firing back. Eagerness to seize the opportunity is key to victory!"

"Well in that case, you clearly seized the wrong opportunity. Come on, let us not waste anymore time on some trivial game. We have orders to sabotage a meeting between several rebels and a bank-teller lending them money to smuggle in some Russian weapons." Eckhart tells him, slinging his gun over his shoulder.

"You're fifteen seconds late, hop in! We're ready to leave!" Shouts one of the soldiers within the troop transport. "Why are you two late?" He asks as Waldmann and Eckhart climb into the vehicle. "Waldmann is too busy playing his damned card game. As you know - he lost again." Eckhart tells him. "Another lost bet! And as such, another free chocolate ration that you owe me Waldmann! If these losses continue - you will be thinner than the ones making our rations!” he tells Waldmann. “Shut it, Paul! You would lose if I played against you!” Waldmann tells him, to which Paul says “You don’t lose if you never play, Waldmann. Nothing happens if nothing is started.”

The night is peaceful and calm as the squad is hunched up in the vehicle. “So, what does this bank-teller look like? What are our orders?” Asks Eckart to the squad leader, Ernst. “Our orders are to seize the bank-teller and any associates, and eliminate the rebel presence. Try to avoid any unnecessary deaths.” Ernst tells them. Paul, cleaning his helmet announces the plan, “We’ll capture the bank-teller and any associates. I’ll have Waldmann and Eckhart, as well as myself surveying the bank-tellers, while Paul, Friedrich, and Otto on the perimeter. Let’s make this quick, I want to watch that card game that Waldmann has been so desperate to win.”

The soldiers move out of the back of the vehicle, guns loaded and optics cleaned. Eckhart, Waldmann and Ernst quickly went to their positions while the other three set up their positions. Soon, the rumble of technicals could be heard in the distance. Six small trucks filled with rebels arrived, three per truck. Shortly after, another two trucks showed up escorting a man with a tailored business suit and two accomplices. "Well, I take it you have a strategy to beat out the Prussians?" asks the bank-teller. "We do, sir - but we need more.... assistance with getting this plan in action. At least two million dollars." The commanding rebel says. "Well - that is not too much money. I can deliver the money to the base in three hours - if you agree."

"Then we have a deal, I presume you and your accomplices know where the base is?" the rebel commander asks. "Yes, myself and my accomplices here know the location of the base." The bankteller says.

Ernst, whispering onto the com-links "Open fire, do not fire on the bank-teller or the accomplices, only the rebels!"

Suddenly, three rebel soldiers fell to the ground, bullet holes in the back of their head. "That's our sign, attack!" Ernst says. Waldmann rises from the grass, blasting down the rebels. Paul and Eckart moved quickly gunning down any rebels who tried firing at Waldmann in his killing-obsessed daze. "The bank-teller! He's trying to escape!" Shouts Paul. Eckhart, quick to act attempts to stop the bank-teller. As the banker tries driving away, another one of his accomplices tries hopping into the car, but tackled down by Eckhart.

"The banker got away, but we got what we need." Eckhart says on the radio.

The squad assembles in a small shack just by the meeting ground, trying to interrogate the surviving bank-teller.

"Tell us, where is the location of that rebel base!" Ernst asks.

"Ain't tellin." The accomplice says. Otto, realizing something is in his coat pocket reaches to get it. "A list of addresses and names - if we can find the importance of these locations, we can track down the bank-teller."

"Now you're gonna tell us what these locations are!" Shouts Paul. "Do it, or you'll be spending the rest of your life in the joint!" Waldmann tells the captive. "In hell!" the accomplice says. "In hell?!" Waldmann shouts, grabbing the accomplice by the neck. "You're messing with an Irish-Prussian pal! You're gonna hang higher than the Slovaks unless you cooperate!"

Eckhart, trying to calm both of them down speaks. "This man could help us out! He could-"

"Ah why don't you guys f*ck off!" The accomplice shouts. Waldmann, incredibly angered punches the man in the face, knocking him to the ground. Ernst, trying to de-escalate the situation shouts to Waldmann to go outside, as Waldmann shouts "I ain't f*cking with you Mr.Hardcase! We need that information! You're gonna talk - you'll be begging to talk!"

Waldmann, stepping outside as the accomplice shouts a string of cursewords at him finds a rebel soldier, who was with the bank-teller crawling on the ground in pain. "Hey, come on you! On your feet! I need you to tell me where those bases are!" He commands the rebel, grabbing him by the neck and slamming him against the window. Right in front of the accomplice's view. "Please! Spare me!" The rebel tries saying, barely able to speak. "I'm gonna count to three!" Waldmann shouts.

Gaining the attention of everyone inside the shack, the rebel says "I don't-!" Interrupted as Waldmann sticks his pistol in the mans mouth, "Aw whats the matter? Can't you talk with a gun in your mouth!" The rebel tries - with a few hardly audible words. "One... Two... Three!"

Waldmann pulls the trigger, the bullet exploding the mans brains all over the window and the floor of the shack.

"Alright! I- I- I'll talk! I'll tell you anything you want! Anything! Anything! Don't! Don't please! I'll tell you anything you want to know!" the accomplice says.

"And don't let him clean himself - until he talks." Waldmann says, walking back in the room with a smile. "Now, ask him what you want to know."

Ernst looks to Waldmann, "I disprove of your methods. Successful, none the less." he says. "You clearly weren't raised in Dublin." Waldmann says to him, walking out the shack.

Democratic Republic of Korea
For many years the Korean War was at a stalemate, the south being a republic and the north being an authoritarian regime. The north wouldn’t faced with invasion as a war with North Korea would mean war with China due to their relationship. However, this wouldn’t last long. The North Korean dictator had begun taking the Chinese relations for granted, constantly asking for supplies and financial help. China had enough and immediately cut ties with North Korea, the south and the United States saw this as an opportunity to finally rid the peninsula of the authoritarian regime. In 2027 the invasion saw its first shots fired, the war would go on for 2 years with the South Koreans coming out on top. The North Korean government became non-existent as propaganda posters supporting the north were taken down, statues being destroyed and the demilitarized zone had been erased from the map. The Korean Peninsula was united and would continue using the government policies of the south. The North Koreans who had been starving their entire lives were now getting financial aid, until they can get stable jobs and send their children to good schools, and members of the North Korean government had been imprisoned. The Korean Peninsula had been reunited once again after many long years, now without having to worry about the neighbors up north, Korea can now continue becoming an increasingly more developed nation and a more prosperous one as well.

Perfecting the Advanced BM Systems.

As a joint effort between 4 nations to build Anti-Ballistic and Advanced Ballistic Missile Systems, providing invaluable defense against potential nuclear missile strikes, the United Monatian Asian Federation also joins in this pact to provide development of advanced missile guidance systems, to be outfitted within the ABM systems. Such work and experiences gained from the joint project would also be used to develop the nation's future missile technologies. An approximate of a few billion dollars is funded to start the creation of the AGS MD series. In the year 2060 the project was proposed, but in 2070, Project Sky Eye officially commences in Japan, China, and Taiwan. New warheads and hypersonic missile versions will be developed and tested extensively for long range offense and defense. Warheads for the ABM systems will include more powerful EMP warheads with larger blast radius, kinetic strike warheads with reinforced ballistic points, flak warheads with larger and longer ranged shrapnel bursts, and burst warhead missiles. New radar technologies and computer programming systems will significantly aid the missiles and successfully hit its targets. New improvements, modifications, and designs will be continuously tested and refined for many years to come.

The details of project is listed below.

Radar homing
Active homing
active radar homing
Active homing uses a radar system on the missile to provide a guidance signal. Typically, electronics in the missile keep the radar pointed directly at the target, and the missile then looks at this "angle" of its own centerline to guide itself. Radar resolution is based on the size of the antenna, so in a smaller missile these systems are useful for attacking only large targets, ships or large bombers for instance. Active radar systems remain in widespread use in anti-shipping missiles, and in "fire-and-forget" air-to-air missile systems such as AIM-120 AMRAAM and R-77

Semi-active homing
Main article: Semi-active radar homing
Semi-active homing systems combine a passive radar receiver on the missile with a separate targeting radar that "illuminates" the target. Since the missile is typically being launched after the target was detected using a powerful radar system, it makes sense to use that same radar system to track the target, thereby avoiding problems with resolution or power, and reducing the weight of the missile. Semi-active radar homing (SARH) is by far the most common "all weather" guidance solution for anti-aircraft systems, both ground- and air-launched.

It has the disadvantage for air-launched systems that the launch aircraft must keep moving towards the target in order to maintain radar and guidance lock. This has the potential to bring the aircraft within range of shorter-ranged IR-guided (infrared-guided) missile systems. It is an important consideration now that "all aspect" IR missiles are capable of "kills" from head on, something which did not prevail in the early days of guided missiles. For ships and mobile or fixed ground-based systems, this is irrelevant as the speed (and often size) of the launch platform precludes "running away" from the target or opening the range so as to make the enemy attack fail.

SALH is similar to SARH but uses a laser as a signal. Another difference is that most laser-guided weapons employ a turret-mounted laser designator which increases the launching aircraft's ability to maneuver after launch. How much maneuvering can be done by the guiding aircraft will depend on the turret field of view and the system's ability to maintain a lock-on while maneuvering. As most air-launched, laser-guided munitions are employed against surface targets the designator providing the guidance to the missile need not be the launching aircraft; designation can be provided by another aircraft or by a completely separate source (frequently troops on the ground equipped with the appropriate laser designator).

Passive homing
passive radar
Infrared homing is a passive system that homes in on the heat generated by the target. Typically used in the anti-aircraft role to track the heat of jet engines, it has also been used in the anti-vehicle role with some success. This means of guidance is sometimes also referred to as "heat seeking".

Contrast seekers use a television camera, typically black and white, to image a field of view in front of the missile, which is presented to the operator. When launched, the electronics in the missile look for the spot on the image where the contrast changes the fastest, both vertically and horizontally, and then attempts to keep that spot at a constant location in its view. Contrast seekers have been used for air-to-ground missiles, including the AGM-65 Maverick, because most ground targets can be distinguished only by visual means. However they rely on there being strong contrast changes to track, and even traditional camouflage can render them unable to "lock on".

Retransmission homing
Track-via-missile
Retransmission homing, also called Track Via Missile or TVM, is a hybrid between command guidance, semi-active radar homing and active radar homing. The missile picks up radiation broadcast by the tracking radar, which bounces off the target and relays it to the tracking station, which relays commands back to the missile.

The guidance computer and the missile tracker are located in the missile. The lack of target tracking in GOLIS necessarily implies Navigational Guidance.

Navigational guidance is any type of guidance executed by a system without a target tracker. The other two units are on board the missile. These systems are also known as self-contained guidance systems; however, they are not always entirely autonomous due to the missile trackers used. They are subdivided by their missile tracker's function as follows:

Entirely autonomous - Systems where the missile tracker does not depend on any external navigation source, and can be divided into:
Inertial Guidance
With Gimballed gyrostabilized platform or Fluid-suspended gyrostabilized platform
With Strapdown inertial guidance
Preset Guidance
Dependent on natural sources - Navigational guidance systems where the missile tracker depends on a natural external source:
Celestial Guidance
Astro-inertial guidance
Terrestrial Guidance
Topographic Reconnaissance (Ex: TERCOM)
Photographic Reconnaissance (Ex: DSMAC)
Magnetic guidance
Dependent on artificial sources - Navigational guidance systems where the missile tracker depends on an artificial external source:
Satellite Navigation
Global Positioning System (GPS)
GLObal NAvigation Satellite System (GLONASS)
Hyperbolic Navigation
DECCA
LORAN C

Inertial guidance

Inspection of MM III missile guidance system
Inertial Guidance uses sensitive measurement devices to calculate the location of the missile due to the acceleration put on it after leaving a known position. Early mechanical systems were not very accurate, and required some sort of external adjustment to allow them to hit targets even the size of a city. Modern systems use solid state ring laser gyros that are accurate to within metres over ranges of 10,000 km, and no longer require additional inputs. Gyroscope development has culminated in the AIRS found on the MX missile, allowing for an accuracy of less than 100m at intercontinental ranges. Many civilian aircraft use inertial guidance using the ring laser gyroscope, which is less accurate than the mechanical systems found in ICBMs, but which provide an inexpensive means of attaining a fairly accurate fix on location (when most airliners such as Boeing's 707 and 747 were designed, GPS was not the widely commercially available means of tracking that it is today). Today guided weapons can use a combination of INS, GPS and radar terrain mapping to achieve extremely high levels of accuracy such as that found in modern cruise missiles.

Inertial guidance is most favored for the initial guidance and reentry vehicles of strategic missiles, because it has no external signal and cannot be jammed. Additionally, the relatively low precision of this guidance method is less of an issue for large nuclear warheads.

Astro-inertial guidance
Inertial navigation system and Celestial navigation
The astro-inertial guidance is a sensor fusion/information fusion of the inertial guidance and celestial navigation. It is usually employed on submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Unlike silo-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, whose launch point does not move and thus can serve as a reference, SLBMs are launched from moving submarines, which complicates the necessary navigational calculations and increases Circular error probable. This stellar-inertial guidance is used to correct small position and velocity errors that result from launch condition uncertainties due to errors in the submarine navigation system and errors that may have accumulated in the guidance system during the flight due to imperfect instrument calibration.

It uses star positioning to fine-tune the accuracy of the inertial guidance system after launch. As the accuracy of a missile is dependent upon the guidance system knowing the exact position of the missile at any given moment during its flight, the fact that stars are a fixed reference point from which to calculate that position makes this a potentially very effective means of improving accuracy.

In the Trident missile system this was achieved by a single camera that was trained to spot just one star in its expected position if it was not quite aligned to where it should be then this would indicate that the inertial system was not precisely on target and a correction would be made.

Terrestrial guidance
TERCOM and TERCOM § DSMC
TERCOM, for "terrain contour matching", uses altitude maps of the strip of land from the launch site to the target, and compares them with information from a radar altimeter on board. More sophisticated TERCOM systems allow the missile to fly a complex route over a full 3D map, instead of flying directly to the target. TERCOM is the typical system for cruise missile guidance, but is being supplanted by GPS systems and by DSMAC, Digital Scene-Matching Area Correlator, which employs a camera to view an area of land, digitizes the view, and compares it to stored scenes in an onboard computer to guide the missile to its target.

DSMAC is reputed to be so lacking in robustness that destruction of prominent buildings marked in the system's internal map (such as by a preceding cruise missile) upsets its navigation.

**The joint project, now the UMAF's biggest defense weapon industry, Aegear DEFCOM, taking on the leading challenges of the project. To tackle the AGS various methods to intercept and destroy ICBMs. Details listed down below.**

Boost phase
Intercepting the missile while its rocket motors are firing, usually over the launch territory (e.g., American aircraft-mounted laser weapon Boeing YAL-1 [program canceled]).

Advantages:

Bright, hot rocket exhaust makes detection and targeting easier.
Decoys cannot be used during the boost phase.
At this stage, the missile is full of flammable propellant, which makes it very vulnerable to explosive warheads.
Disadvantages:

Difficult to geographically position interceptors to intercept missiles in boost phase (not always possible without flying over hostile territory).
Short time for intercept (typically about 180 seconds).
Mid-course phase
Intercepting the missile in space after the rocket burns out (example: American Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Chinese SC-19 & DN-series missiles, Israeli Arrow 3 missile).

Advantages:

Extended decision/intercept time (the coast period through space before reentering the atmosphere can be several minutes, up to 20 minutes for an ICBM).
Very large geographic defensive coverage; potentially continental.
Disadvantages:

Requires large, heavy anti-ballistic missiles and sophisticated powerful radar which must often be augmented by space-based sensors.
Must handle potential space-based decoys.
Terminal phase
Intercepting the missile after it reenters the atmosphere (examples: American Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, Chinese HQ-29, American THAAD, American Sprint, Russian ABM-3 Gazelle)

Advantages:

Smaller, lighter anti-ballistic missile is sufficient.
Balloon decoys do not work during reentry.
Smaller, less sophisticated radar required.
Disadvantages:

Very short intercept time, possibly less than 30 seconds.
Less defended geographic coverage.
Possible blanketing of target area with hazardous materials in the case of detonation of nuclear warhead(s).
Intercept location relative to the atmosphere
Missile defense can take place either inside (endoatmospheric) or outside (exoatmospheric) the Earth's atmosphere. The trajectory of most ballistic missiles takes them inside and outside the Earth's atmosphere, and they can be intercepted in either place. There are advantages and disadvantages to either intercept technique.

Some missiles such as THAAD can intercept both inside and outside the Earth's atmosphere, giving two intercept opportunities.

Endoatmospheric
Endoatmospheric anti-ballistic missiles are usually shorter ranged (e.g., American MIM-104 Patriot Indian Advanced Air Defence).

Advantages:

Physically smaller and lighter
Easier to move and deploy
Endoatmospheric intercept means balloon-type decoys won't work
Disadvantages:

Limited range and defended area
Limited decision and tracking time for the incoming warhead
Exoatmospheric
Exoatmospheric anti-ballistic missiles are usually longer-ranged (e.g., American GMD, Ground-Based Midcourse Defense).

Advantages:

More decision and tracking time
Fewer missiles required for defense of a larger area
Disadvantages:

Larger/heavier missiles required
More difficult to transport and place compared to smaller missiles
Must handle decoys

AJax Defense Industry, Aerow Missile Defense Systems, and many more will be collaborating on its development.

A QUEEN - Key Largo [2070]

Asialad Summit - Perth, Swanovia

King Henry Stetford III sauntered down the airstairs off of his private Airbus A380-900plus; a custom job his father had ordered from Airbus following their scrapping of the project in 2017. He was certainly getting accustomed to the jet-setting lifestyle of a Southeast Asian King, perhaps the travel and luxury was worth all of the unwanted attention. He was escorted quickly to his limousine, which had been delivered ahead of him in the cargo hold of his Antonov An-225 Mriya, another of his father’s more questionable purchases, but a luxury he could not imagine traveling without.

As they drove off, Henry slid towards the front of the limousine in hopes of gaining some insight from his driver, Jarvis Watson, before he undertook one of the most logistically important meetings of his career thus far.

King Henry: Jarvis, how did my father generally prepare for these sorts of things? I find myself at a loss with the gravity of this situation.
Jarvis Watson: That’s saying something, coming from the man who has expanded the nation he inherited from his father exponentially. In all his time as King, your father only ever conquered Ito; so what causes this stress over such an inconsequential Summit?
King Henry: Well these are my father’s friends, his allies. His life’s work towards peace in Asia will have all been for naught if I fail to impress these men. If our invasion fails, we lose men and I lose the respect of my subjects, yes; but if our alliances fail, we lose men and I lose the respect of myself, and from this I doubt I could ever recover.
Jarvis: These sound like the words of a man worth respecting. I think, so long as you go in and show them who you truly are, and fight for the rights of your people so that we don’t come out short in this arrangement, everything should go over rather swimmingly. Now, if all goes awry, I suppose you can rest easily knowing we have proven as of late to possess one of the most fearsomely fierce militaries in all of the world.
King Henry: Against weaker, unprepared neighbours yes, but what of these foreign powers?
Jarvis: You underestimate the training of your men and the intelligence of your Generals, my Lord. Should things take a turn for the worst - and I fail to see any likelihood of this - we most certainly should find ourselves with the upper hand in any resulting conflict.

Henry leaned back in his seat and sighed deeply. He supposed Jarvis was right; after all, he made many great points. Their rapid expansion and quick decimation of the defensive forces they had faced in recent conflicts certainly did give cause for fear in any future enemies; but he still feared greatly the idea of conflict with the Swanovians. They too had proven themselves a worthy adversary, picking apart the Javanese in their recent conquest of the world’s most populous island - they would be far from an easy fight. The thought of the Swanovians alone was enough to cause fear of any other Asian conflicts - at least those with the nations of this proposed Federation. His reign had not exposed him much to the militaristic capabilities of his Chinese and Japanese counterparts, but he felt certain they too would be powerful to some extent - why else would President Adams value their fraternity.

They pulled up to the front gates of the Presidential Residence in Perth; how strange it felt being here twice in such a short period of time, but he supposed this was a good sign for the future in how this Asian brotherhood would run. The guards ushered them in and as the gate slammed shut behind him, he cleared his throat and prepared for his most important meeting yet.

When Henry Met Swanovia - Perth, Swanovia

After a long and arduous day, King Henry returned to the Presidential Suite he had grown quite accustomed to in this beautiful city. After a short elevator ride to the top floor that he spent recollecting his thoughts on what he considered to have been a quite successful day, he threw himself onto his couch and took a brief moment to relax. A few moments later he found something was very much on his mind.

King Henry: Kingsley, did you ever find that girl for me - what was her name? Deliah, yes, that girl. Did you ever find Deliah?
Commander Kingsley: I did, sir; what of her?
King Henry: Bring her to me, have Jarvis take you. Michaels and Collingfrey can stay here with me until you return.
Commander Kingsley: As you wish my liege, I will be back shortly.

As Kingsley walked away, Henry retrieved the remote for his television and began flipping through the channels in search of something that might settle his mind for the meantime.

CONTINGENCY - NewsOne Key Largo] [1968]

Historical Map

All over Key Largo, television sets hummed to life. A loud alarm blared for several moments as the residents awoke and trudged to their living rooms to see what all the fuss was about. A few seconds later the screen cut to black before a message appeared in tall, white letters.

CITIZENS OF KEY LARGO AND HER OUTER REGIONS

If you are reading this, it means that the enemy has broken through our borders and we have been forced to surrender. The conditions of this surrender require the expulsion of several Outer Regions from our Federation. To our residents in the following Greater Regions, please wait for further briefing:

CAMPUCHEA
VIETNAM
SIAM
BURMA
BANGLADESH
SUMATRA
BORNEO

Thank you and good night.

The televisions quickly returned to black and remained dormant for several moments. Then very suddenly they hummed to life once again. Another alarm sounded out before a new message was displayed, this one overlaying a series of cheerful images and accompanied by hopeful music.

CITIZENS OF THE FOLLOWING GREATER REGIONS

CAMPUCHEA
VIETNAM
SIAM
BURMA
BANGLADESH
SUMATRA
BORNEO

If you are reading this, we have been forced to expel your Region from the Largae Federation. The enemy may have won the battle but they shall not win the war. Your action will inspire others. This shall be your final service to the Empire. Remember the Victory Position:

Go to your Front yard,
Lie Face up,
Keep your Feet together.

If you have children or pets, these are the smallest Patriots. Take care of them before you do yourself. You will meet your countrymen and your God on the other side. Ensure you take your government issued M1911 and place the muzzle flat against the soft palate at the roof of your mouth, then pull the trigger firmly.

We cherish your Patriotism, and will see you all on the other side.

This message will repeat until there is no one left to read it.

A small seal was displayed at the foot of the final sentence, which read: Seal of the Ministry for the Preservation of Largae Patriotism. The man turned to his wife with a solemn expression on his face, kissed his children on their forehead before returning to his bedroom to retrieve his weapon. As he returned to the living room he saw his wife was in tears and attempted to calm her.

Man: If you can’t do it, I can do all of us.
Woman: Are we sure this is right? Who are they to ask this of us, after all?
Man: This is our country, we must martyr ourselves for it; so that the enemy truly gets the message.
Woman: But what is the message?
Man: [solemnly] Deus vult.

He cocked the pistol and placed it against his daughter’s temple.

Man: Parce mihi Pater.

Campuchea - Hanoi, Vietnam [2070]

Prime Minister Cronkite: Thank you for meeting with me on such short notice, Mr. President.
President Nguyen Trong: Certainly, Prime Minister. Now to what do I owe the pleasure of your presence?
Cronkite: I come to discuss Campuchea; I am aware of the great expense it is causing your beautiful nation to continue preserving it and I understand that this is likely causing some level of strife among your population.
President Trong: “Some level” would be an understatement, but what interest might you have in it?
Cronkite: I believe their interests to be more aligned with ours, especially religiously. The Transcendentalist Church has had great success in its Missions there and thus a more accepting government to their religious practices might be able to get them under control.
President Trong: This is very true, but where does this benefit us?
Cronkite: Most importantly it takes them off of your hands, but a price could be negotiated to your liking - King Henry has authorised me to take some discretion in such a deal as he’s developed a great fondness for this territory.
President Trong: I suppose I would not be less than open to negotiating a price for Campuchea.

Prime Minister Cronkite looked deeply pleased with this statement. He studied the face of his Vietnamese counterpart for any sign of what number might bring this negotiation to a quick end. After several moments he leaned forward, and negotiations began.

A Queen? - Perth, Swanovia

King Henry turned off the television set and sat back on his couch for a few moments before rising to stretch his legs. He strolled towards the kitchen that sat along the opposite wall of his hotel suite to grab a drink.

King Henry: Any word from Kingsley?
Commander Michaels: He should be up shortly, my Lord.
King Henry: Excellent.

He poured himself a tall glass of Cabernet and then hesitated before pouring a second for his guest. As he adjusted his clothes, he heard the elevator ding as the doors opened.

King Henry: Miss Adams, how kind of you to join me.
Deliah Adams: I have to say, this is quite the start to a second date.
King Henry: Second, you say? I hope the first went well, then.
Deliah: Quite. Might that be for me?
King Henry: It would indeed, Cabernet, I hope you find it to your liking; I take a bottle of it wherever I go, the finest in Key Largo.
Deliah: Key Largo, huh? I get the feeling you’re not exactly who you made yourself out to be last we met, Henry.
King Henry: Less or more?
Deliah: More, if I’m honest; you didn’t quite give off the air of jet-setting royalty, visiting my home city on a public relations tour.
King Henry: That might have been intended as a slight, but I take it as the greatest of compliments; I like to think I’m a fair bit more than just some foreign King. As you might expect, there aren’t many women in my homeland that don’t recognise me rather immediately after encounter - you were very much a breath of fresh air in that regard.
Deliah: Well, I’m honoured to have given you the chance to breathe. Though, I should be honest with you, I’m not all I made myself out to be either.
King Henry: Oh? How so?
Deliah: You see, you might be rather well acquainted with my father, President Adams.
King Henry: I certainly might be.

He considered this revelation for some time over his glass of wine. This certainly complicated things a fair bit; though, perhaps not. He was far younger than his contemporary, so perhaps it was not less than appropriate. He would have to tread lightly should he proceed though.

King Henry: Oh, where are my manners, please, have a seat!
Deliah: The whole thing? Why don’t you join me? We can pick things up from there, I think.

They both made their way back to the living room and dove into conversation. Shortly thereafter, King Henry dismissed his entourage, granting them reprieve for the night.

Cause Why Not? - Bir Tawil, Key Largo

Several helicopters lifted off from a Largae aircraft carrier just off the coast of Eritrea, en route to the drop point around what had come to be known as Bir Tawil, a small chunk of land between Egypt and Sudan that neither nation seemed to have any desire in controlling. This was fine with King Henry, who had sent this regiment to set up an air base on the small chunk of land.

This base would serve as a forward point for any interventions in future European conflicts involving strategic Largae allies. Barracks would be constructed first, complete with mess halls replete with the food they had grown accustomed to in the bases back home (it was essential this base feel just like any other). Upon the completion of these Barracks they would move on to building large Hangers to store their forward battalions. Finally, they would construct a 12,000 metre long runway running east-west along the northern border with Egypt, allowing for dual-takeoff during high-alert dispatch, and an additional 10,000 metre long runway just south of the main runway, offset by 15 degrees southwest of the main runway.

This base will be open to all allies of Key Largo with advanced request, and for any airliners requiring urgent refueling regardless of registry nation.

Western Unification.

Various propaganda attempts/efforts made by the own will of the UMAF’s citizens and the government to convince the western tribes in China to band together and unify with the Federation. After the success of convincing the Hawaiian people to join our nation via diplomatic and peaceful efforts. More and more missions were campaigned to send newspapers, books, and other worldly goods brought by the UMAF community to convince its neighbours to join the utopia next door. Many used improvised miniature hot air balloons to carry the special cargo, others used cheap drones for larger distances. Millions saw the campaigns and joined a few weeks later in November 5th, 2071. Government issued planes soon followed the example, military satellites and recon drones inspect drop zones to see if the campaigns are a success. A video was soon published by the military in the internet, showcasing the remarkable results. Many human figures, surrounded the drop zones, seen rummaging through the pile and carrying as much as they could. The recon drones were then redeployed to survey their campsites, delivering the cargo to their chieftains all across the western tribe states. Spies from the UMAF and its Intelligence Agencies, quickly advanced to each designated tribe states, awaiting to send important information to the high command of any slight chances of unification.

November 10th, 0820. Messages from the spies began to pour in from the Central Intelligence Command. There is slight hope of Western Unification as the chieftains from all designated tribe states/provinces, outlined in red, soon to squabble against the other tribe states from the mountainous desert from the far west. The military will then be alerted for preparedness as conflict will soon commence. November 11th, spies report the next day, bombs have ravaged the DTS/Ps and their capitals. Drones soon relay the conflict onscreen. Intelligence command, give their next orders to establish a connection with the chieftains to further convince them to unify. Orders were then received and immediately followed, spies drops their connection, starting their next important missions.

A few days later on November 14th, 1200. The deployed spies and their allied chieftains have gained connection to their SATLINK systems to give the chieftains, direct message to UMAF’s Central High Command of their desires to unify, they say the purpose is to ensure stability, prosperity, and safety with the nation’s defensive power from the invading far westerm tribes.

“The region in which all of our people is situated in, have seen many violence from the brutal tribes from the far west in the desert.” Explains one of the chieftains. “There location had lacked far less resources to grow, so expeditions were conducted by the tribes from the Far West to the East, in order to steal ours.”

“They’ve kidnapped our people and killed our previous chieftain to suppress us.” Exclaims another chieftain.

“Our capitals have all been targeted by the savages, we dearly request your valuable assistance to protect our people as soon as you can.”

Generals within the High Command building, brought along with the president and its staff members issued tank battalions and infantries, deployed as border patrol in the surrounding border to engage and support the DTS/Ps from “savage” attacks. Strike Drones will be primarily used for air support in their new operation. After the operation is over and attacks from the far west ceases, a formal treaty will be established to all designated provinces to unify with the Federation.

November 15th, 0900. Patrol units as well as with some reinforcement units with more MBTs, IFVs, and infantry, now advance to the provinces to secure the area. The north west provinces were easily secured with minimal air support from the strike drones. The midwest provinces were also secured, although minor skirmishes were present within the area, IFVs and MBTs, swiftly neutralize the attacks, protecting the neighbouring tribespeople from harm. Helicopters and larger cargo drones, (fitted with 6 turboprop engines, each rotating a five-bladed propeller) were then deployed to further increase security and supplies to be used to treat the wounded and feed the starving population. Similar attempts also followed suit in the north to prevent anymore uprisings by providing essential temporary infrastructure installations, medical supplies, food, and other resources to help out the struggling provinces. The southern areas were ripe with violence however, many tribesmen and women were massacred by multiple bombing attacks from the "savages" many were severely injured. Reinforcements of more MBTs were situated to the defense of the southern provinces, penetrate through the two of the three southern provinces within the three hour mark. Some units were left behind to assist the reinforcement units to their destination and massive relief teams to distribute resources to the native population. Strike drones were on full alert, after entering the operational airspace, not far off from the remaining southern province's capital. Miniature recon drones deployed by the soldiers on the ground spot several targets of vehicles and infantrymen. By November 18th, at around 0100. Direct engagement by the UMAF military and the savages commenced.

0110. Multiple shots fired by the savages from the highlands were heard, hitting UMAF infantry with debri and shrapnel close to their feet. Recon drones, equipped with infrared sensors relay the enemy’s position in the hills, sending the information to the strike drones above. Enemy vehicles empty with their crew smoking outside, awaiting for the ambush. Each of the 10 squadrons (each squadron consisting of 4 strike drones) precisely and carefully pick out their targets. 10, 20, 30… 45 seconds in, targets from the highlands and vehicle crews waiting underneath a dense patch of trees were successfully neutralized. Army Division 1, or AD 1 continue their advance to the capital. Strike drones squadron 3 and 4, with assistance from several long-range reconnaissance drones stationed from Nanning Airbase, locating several more targets within the northern border of the remaining southern province. Squadrons 3 and 4 finally used their long-range cruise missile armed with a high-impact shockwave burst warhead on three large enemy profiles spotted using infrared sensors. 0432. All of the remaining foes were utterly destroyed, securing the southern province intact.

By november 20th, the intense humanitarian relief effort was complete, minimal casualties were sustained during the conflict. Chieftains of the DTS/Ps gathered in the capital of the UMAF, Tokyo, finally signing the unification of provinces into the Federation. The people will be given instant citizenship and free privileges that all of the people in the nation enjoy. Their cultures and religions are free to be performed without any interferences, infrastructures and services will also be provided.

Advanced research on med techs.

Many of the United Monatian Asian Federation’s top leading and many other medical tech development industries, such as Grandar Medical and Special Medical Development Cor, National Epidemic Disease Control Industry, Drazgi Health Organization, and Airiad Medical Technologies have begun their great research, with the support of the government and private sector to initiate similar studies on developing more advanced brain mapping, simulation technologies, methods in combating against cancer using CRISPR from CETI, Neurological reparation methods and technologies, more precise treatments for serious diseases such as Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and etc. Partnered with TAGALogica, such industries are also currently in development of advanced 3D Printer technologies to use for both commercially and medically, using 3D printer systems to cheaply build hollow shells for medical technologies such as MRI scanners. Efficient surgical technologies also in favor of improvement to boost the chances of survivability even further.

ArtolCore’s initiative to improve polymer and zionite technologies were also announced, specifically to also help create better energy storage systems for the upcoming new techs for medical treatment. The intended goal is to produce cheaper prices for commercial use in polymer and zionite tech. More advanced digital interface systems, alternate reality simulations, and info processing data cores are also included within the list of development within the United Monatian Asian Federation.

Synthetic Biology advancements.

Medical technologies especially within synthetic biology is also included within the list of advanced research within the Federation and its public and private sectors. Such advancements is listed, Gene delivery/gene therapy - Designing molecules to deliver modified or new genes into cells of living organisms to cure genetic disorders. Metabolic engineering - Modifying metabolism of organisms to optimize production of chemicals (e.g. synthetic genomics). Protein engineering - Altering structure of existing proteins to enable specific new functions, or the creation of fully artificial proteins. DNA-functionalized materials - 3D assemblies of DNA-conjugated nanoparticle lattices. Although the listed topics are already present, the goal is to further master and understand its functions to better utilize its benefits for the greater improvement of health.

As of right now, the private sector, as well as its top leading med tech industries have established several more facilities within the Southern territories to work on and experiment thoroughly and with much greater commitment. CETI will also be partnering with other med tech companies to increase their research towards advancing the listed topics, such technologies and experiments include,

Gene doping
Athletes might adopt gene therapy technologies to improve their performance.Gene doping is not known to occur, but multiple gene therapies may have such effects. Kayser et al. argue that gene doping could level the playing field if all athletes receive equal access. Critics claim that any therapeutic intervention for non-therapeutic/enhancement purposes compromises the ethical foundations of medicine and sports.
Human genetic engineering
Genetic engineering could be used to cure diseases, but also to change physical appearance, metabolism, and even improve physical capabilities and mental faculties such as memory and intelligence. Ethical claims about germline engineering include beliefs that every fetus has a right to remain genetically unmodified, that parents hold the right to genetically modify their offspring, and that every child has the right to be born free of preventable diseases. For parents, genetic engineering could be seen as another child enhancement technique to add to diet, exercise, education, training, cosmetics, and plastic surgery. Another theorist claims that moral concerns limit but do not prohibit germline engineering.
Possible regulatory schemes include a complete ban, provision to everyone, or professional self-regulation. The UMAF Medical Association’s Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs stated that "genetic interventions to enhance traits should be considered permissible only in severely restricted situations: (1) clear and meaningful benefits to the fetus or child; (2) no trade-off with other characteristics or traits; and (3) equal access to the genetic technology, irrespective of income or other socioeconomic characteristics."
Although many clinical trials have already been done several times in gene doping and human genetic engineering, new clinical trials will be conducted to further test it successfully.
An announcement has also been made by the president and CEO of CETI on pre-existing technologies and significantly improve them within the next two-to-four months. Such as, Reagents, Gibson Assembly HiFi 1-Step Kit, Gibson Assembly Ultra Kit, Gibson Assembly, Site-Directed Mutagenesis Kit, Gibson Assembly Vectors. Instruments, BioXp 3200 System. Cells, Vmax Express Chemically Competent & Electrocompetent Cells. Software, Archetype software. And etc.
Protein engineering, already widely tested several clinical trials, utilized within actual people have already gained advantage within the nation. Although, the process of utilizing the much newer and experimental methods and technologies is still underway. Many of which CETI has already developed during its years. Computing methods have been used to design a protein with a novel fold, named Trope87, and sensors for unnatural molecules. The engineering of fusion proteins has yielded rilonacept, a pharmaceutical that has secured Monatian Food and Drug Administration (MFDA) approval for treating cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome.

Another computing method, IPRO, successfully engineered the switching of cofactor specificity of Candida boidinii xylose reductase. Iterative Protein Redesign and Optimization (IPRO) redesigns proteins to increase or give specificity to native or novel substrates and cofactors. This is done by repeatedly randomly perturbing the structure of the proteins around specified design positions, identifying the lowest energy combination of rotamers, and determining whether the new design has a lower binding energy than prior ones.
Computation-aided design has also been used to engineer complex properties of a highly ordered nano-protein assembly. A protein cage, E. coli bacterioferritin (EcBfr), which naturally shows structural instability and an incomplete self-assembly behavior by populating two oligomerization states, is the model protein in this study. Through computational analysis and comparison to its homologs, it has been found that this protein has a smaller-than-average dimeric interface on its two-fold symmetry axis due mainly to the existence of an interfacial water pocket centered on two water-bridged asparagine residues. To investigate the possibility of engineering EcBfr for modified structural stability, a semi-empirical computational method is used to virtually explore the energy differences of the 480 possible mutants at the dimeric interface relative to the wild type EcBfr. This computational study also converges on the water-bridged asparagines. Replacing these two asparagines with hydrophobic amino acids results in proteins that fold into alpha-helical monomers and assemble into cages as evidenced by circular dichroism and transmission electron microscopy. Both thermal and chemical denaturation confirm that, all redesigned proteins, in agreement with the calculations, possess increased stability. One of the three mutations shifts the population in favor of the higher order oligomerization state in solution as shown by both size exclusion chromatography and native gel electrophoresis.
A in silico method, PoreDesigner, was successfully developed to redesign bacterial channel protein (OmpF) to reduce its 1nm pore size to any desired sub-nm dimension. Transport experiments on the narrowest designed pores revealed complete salt rejection when assembled in biomimetic block-polymer matrices.
More experiments and funding will be given to such industries and research teams to place the nation back on top of the world in terms of medicine and health.

The Collapse of the Southern German Republic

The panic in the Southern German Republic - identified by many as the Baltic Republic was in a state of collapse. Their attempt to cause an incursion into Russia had failed majorly - Ukraine, already suffering of economic and political failure had decided it would attempt to secede from the Baltic Republic, looking for allies in the form of its Romanian neighbor. Meanwhile, the protests in many cities in the north had resulted in a complete shutdown of the railroads, highways, and industries. The warpath of the Baltic Republic over the previous years - which had resulted in unforetold military industrialization meant that these sentiments against the government were nearly widespread. It was observed by many that the countries populace was suffering - many forced to live in slums after the nationalization of industries and the rapid subsidization seen afterwards. The first protests following the seceding of Ukraine erupted in Klaipėda, with protestors from the Industrial Workers Front and the Better Government Movement overpowered police in the town-square, later storming the governors office - pillaging it for anything and everything. Martial law was enacted in the northern provinces, but the national guard refused to take action. In order to uphold martial law, the Baltic Republic Army was sent into the city.

Day 4 of Martial Law in Klaipėda

07:00 - Army forces of the 6th Motorized Division enter Klaipėda. The national guard in Klaipėda is promptly relocated - officers who do not enforce the martial law orders will be put on trial
09:00 - All employed civilians are to attend to their standard work-shifts. Refusal to do so will result in the possibility of arrest.
11:00 - Tanks of the 6th Motorized Division enter Klaipėda, and all travel into or out of the city is shut down. Passes are required.
13:00 - Crowds of protestors in the city grow as high as 45,000 - nearly a quarter of the entire city. Military forces in the city barely number 30,000.
15:00 - Helicopters from nearby air force garrisons begin surveying the skies of Klaipėda.
17:00 - The Prussian Empire denounces the Baltic Republic - demanding them to relieve the siege on Klaipėda.
19:00 - Protestors begin camping in the streets - knowing that going home could result in their immediate arrests by undercover military agents.

Day 7 of Martial Law in Klaipėda

The previous few days have gone much the same - no violence has occured. The cities of Vilnius, Kaunus, and various towns have shut down due to protests, although martial law has yet to occur. Protestors now number near 85,000. It is estimated that the city of Klaipėda's food supply will run out in two days time.

Day 11 of Martial Law in Klaipėda

Now under major pressure to end the protests, the 6th Motorized Division has been given orders to end the protests by force. The government hopes to make an example to the other major protests.

08:00 - The governor has issued an ultimatum - either the protesters stand down or be arrested or executed. The protesters have two hours to comply.
09:00 - The protestors remain calm, but a few have brought their own weapons. Food is now nearly non existent as the protestors begin to make their last stand.
10:24 - After failed negotiations, the 6th Motorized Division opens fire on the protestors. In the mass panic, the protestors charge the soldiers with molotov cocktails and homemade weapons. Vehicular machine guns make quick work of the protestors.
11:30 - By this time, over 3,000 protesters have been killed with 6,000 injured. Protestors have created massive barricades in the streets with commandeered tanks, trams, and burned busses. Prussian media outlets begin arriving to record the protests.
13:00 - Dozens upon dozens of tanks have entered the city. Buildings are now being blasted where protesters refuse to surrender. The town-square now looks like a warzone with dead bodies littering the area.
16:00 - 7,000 protesters are dead and an unknown amount injured.
19:00 - Fighting continues into the night as helicopters and mortars bombard protesters. Radar detects a notable group of ships in the Baltic Sea, identified as a Prussian naval task force.
21:00 - The Prussian Kriegsmarine has sent out calls to the Klaipėdian radio networks and televisions. "The Prussian Kriegsmarine has intervened in order to stop the illegal and unjustified attack by the Baltic government on its people. Under the orders of the Kaiser - Fritz Marshall, citizens of the city of Klaipėda are to be evacuated to Prussian territory until the Baltic government stands down."
22:00 - The first Kriegsmarine warships arrive in the ports of Klaipėda. Civilians pile up onto the eight landing ships which will be used to help evacuate forces. At the same time, those landing ships deployed Prussian infantry, tanks and vehicles. A Prussian declaration of war was later signed against the Baltic Republic.
23:00 - The first combat between Prussian and Baltic troops occur - as fourteen Prussian soldiers are ambushed by twenty Baltic soldiers. The Prussians receive two dead, four wounded while the Baltic soldiers receive eight dead and an unknown amount injured.
23:45 - The Kaiser declares a state of war has erupted between Prussia and the Baltic - and military troops are now moving into the Baltic in order to support the protestors. Finishing a speech, he recites "Remember Klaipėda."

Expanding the people’s republic
The beautiful land surrounding the people’s republic of Raj is unfortunately occupied by uncivilized tribes who eat their own people for sustenance and use the bones leftover for food and shelter. Atleast, that is what the propaganda describes them as, the tribes do not interfere with Raj and Raj doesn’t bother the tribes. Until now. Baljeet Thakre wants to spread Rajs sphere of influence, and where better to start expanding than towards where there’s only a bunch of tribes who don’t have much of a chance to defend themselves against an organized military. But first, Thakre wanted to give the tribes a chance to keep everything they have and become citizens of a soon to be growing nation. But of course most of them had to be stubborn, they are savages after all. All but one tribe, The Dusmeiji tribe, a decently sized tribe who often share resources with Raj.
Thakre showed he meant business by first launching an attack on the tribe of Chhattisgarh. Multiple tanks and armed soldiers strolled into the land, with the orders to shoot as soon as they sense aggression. The tribes knowing an attack was bound to happen, showed plenty of aggression as they threw spears, launched arrow and charged at the army. However, the Chhattisgarh tribe were no match to the weapons at Rajs disposal. Many tribe members were mowed down by the siege of bullets and tank rounds, forcing whoever was left to surrender. The following battles would turn out this way, and the land belonging to the tribe would be swiftly stripped from them.
A second attack was launched on the Imanian tribe. A tribe located near the coast of the Indian peninsula. A couple dozen soldiers were sent on boats to the coast and a couple dozen more sent from the border of the People's republic. The invasion was slow but efficient, as the soldiers closed in on the territory. The tribesmen were weak, but able to hold their own towards the beginning. But as they lost more and more men, the military gained more of an advantage over them. The soldiers forced a surrender from the Imanians.
The third attack was swift and deadly for the tribe of Vishaal. They by far one of the more powerful tribes Raj would have to come up against. They had access to gunpowder and regularly trained for any incoming invasion. Thakre first launched a series of air strikes on key population centers of the Tribe. After that was done, soldiers in tanks and other military vehicles began invading the territory. The most difficult invasion so far but Raj still were dominant in the battles. More airstrikes would occur throughout the land. Crippling the tribe even more and forcing a surrender. Thakre ordered for the execution of all 3 tribe leaders, and appoints the leader of the Dusmeji tribe governor of the land he signed away. To many in Raj, this is seen as a time that will lead to a series of invasions.

Expansion of the Korean Republic
President Kwon Yeong-Gi sat in his office reading a book on the history of Great Britain. He then called in some of his supervisors for a meeting a few days later, starting the meeting with this statement, “I have an idea.” Few weeks passed by, and the Korean navy and air force have received orders.
Jeju 9:27 am
A tiny located off the coast of the Korean Peninsula, unclaimed and its only form of civilization is a tribe. A ship with Korean writing on it pulls up to island. A couple of soldiers step off along with a Korean man in a suit. He tells the natives he is a Korean diplomat and they have 2 options, surrender early before faced with military action or don’t, and be torn apart. After what seemed like hours of back and forth, the natives agreed to surrender and keep their culture and way of life, except be under Korean rule. The diplomat shakes the tribe leaders hands and calls president Kwon of the successful meeting, and to divert the army.
Island of Luzon 4:20 pm
A series of Korean jets fly over Luzon to scout the island and look over the geography of the island. Soon after a large plane flies over the island, inside are a number of soldiers ready to take over the island. They parachute onto the island and prepare themselves for combat. The natives do not attack however, they have their arms raised and make signs of wanting to make contact. But every soldier in combat will tell you they drew first blood after killing one of their brothers in arms. They gunned down the nearby natives, and would begin looting, raping and killing natives until they all eventually agreed to surrender, this had lasted for around 4 weeks.
