Burning the Glasplatte Strait

OOC Thread | Open to all members of Rostil

This thread is for Burning the Glasplatte Strait.

The Republic of Rhydorana is one of the closest mainland neighbors that Ramance has, second only to their holdings bordering the Constitutional Republic of Daemyrs. They are across the Glasplatte Strait from Ramance's eastern-most holding, the island-chain of Fairer Hafen.

This thread is for OOC communication between all participating members and to help with planning.

My personal objective in starting his had originally been to see Ramance gain a mainland holding after conquering and usurping the current government with their own. However, I don't just want this to be a game of "Ramance writes about getting BIG" for however many pages it would take to wrap that up. Instead I want to use it as a tool to get the region more active, and as such I am totally open to however it might happen to end. Whether that is with the NPC-ish nation of Rhydoran being puppetted by Ramance or another political entity, split multiple ways, or even still remaining as an independent power in the region that we can continue to all play with and develop together.

Additionally, I want to make sure as many people as are interested can get invested in this.

If you need the Rhydoranans to do something to justify your entering the situation and you want in (or you need somebody else to do something) then post here or on the Discord and let's discuss it so we can make all of this happen.

The nature of play-by-post play means that a timeline of events is going to get difficult to nail down at times. As such, we will keep an 'up to date' marker here, and an approximate time-line of other events as they occur. If you feel like something should be added to the list that isn't here, let me know and I'll get it put in there. Anything that is time-stamped as before the current date and time below, it will be considered

Be respectful. This should go without saying, to be honest.
Be responsible and reasonable with troop deployments. At present this is little more than a flash conflict.
No deployment of strategic magics, CBRN, or WMD weaponry without prior discussion.
- "Strategic" should be obvious. If it can destroy a city, let's talk about it.
I request all committed forces be organized in a general ORBAT at some point.
Unless otherwise noted or provided, ORBATs kept in the master list will use NATO-familiar (US and UK primarily) designations.

Disaster relief and aid missions. Typically sponsored or conducted by NGOs, or non-militant government forces with no particular affiliation in their actions. These forces typically do not have any allegiance to the BLUFOR, OPFOR, and INDFOR forces and may either refuse or offer unconditional aid to all sides depending on the nature of their organization and the services provides (ie. providing medical aid to all wounded at the site of an airstrike or fight, or leaving military forces to be tended to by their own medical personnel).

It should be noted that the affiliation between BLUFOR / OPFOR and CIVIL factions is displayed as only "Neutral" or "N/A". This is due to the existence of the Lumen Accords. Barring special exception, forces identifying as BLUFOR or OPFOR are signatories of the Accords. As outlined in the Accords, the targeting of non-combatants without verifiable proof of military threat or threat to life and safety is a violation of the Accords under a court of international law.

Overview
The Republic of Rhydorana is a pseudo-stratocracy with a three-tiered system of society and citizenship. It is located on the western-coast of the Sotian continent. It shares a norther border with Second Empire of Anemos Major and has several open miles of coastline - to include the economically profitable Glasplatte Strait that they share with the Freehold Republic of Ramance. The government functions as a highly limited republican organization with three castes of society: High Citizens, Citizens, and the Mázes (Doryniain, lit. "Masses").

They are a small power, regionally speaking, but maintain several treaties for trade with other powers and have common interactions in Imperial circles like so many other powers. This has led to a more insular and shut off culture where foreign interaction is not so much detested or avoided as not expected. In recent years the rising political turmoil has even resulted in several nations issuing travel advisories should their citizens find themselves in the region and possibly exposed to more militant elements.

They are a mountaineering culture, in part due to the steep Dimi mountain range that runs much of the length of their south-southwest border region. This has obviously effected their military forces as well, as Rhydoran is host to highly experienced light infantry.

Geography
The nation of Rhydorana is comprised mostly of grass and lowlands, though the region turns steeply mountainous the further south one travels, and much of the southern and central coast-line is composed of sheer cliffs or otherwise formidable shore formations.\

The vegetation and wildlife are largely tropical. And of course the seasons and weather match it as well. This includes naturally high humidity even in the "dry" season, and rain or thunder-showers are a common occurrence (particularly the spring and winter when the humidity is at its highest). It sits north of the Æquinoctiali with roughly a quarter of the mainland resting north of the Tropicæ Asteria. Its fairly tropical weather and conditions shows in its seasonal lengths.

A temperate and rainy spring begins approximately in early Cereris until transitioning into the much hotter, dryer summer in Palladis. Fall typically comes in late Artemis with an increase in rain showers and a drop in temperatures before transitioning into the stormy season of winter in late Aearnis or very early Elreneis. Seasonal temperatures see a typical average in the range of 20°C to 35°C with the winter storm season typically being towards the cooler end of the spectrum.

Weather and travel advisories for coastal locations and water sports are seldom issued, as despite the clashing tropically warm and arcticly cold waters leading to more tempestuous seas, there is a robust service of coastal patrols and rescue teams should an independent yacht or other vessel find itself being thrown about at the mercy of the water. This is especially true of the Glasplatte Strait - a body of water between the Republic of Rhydorana and its island neighbor, the Freehold Republic of Ramance.

Cretian Order of Battle (Independent Joint Operation by the Canonist Church and Cretian Royal Military in conjunction with Assembly of Nations Peacekeeping Force [ INDFOR ])

Goal: Establishment and enforcement of a DMZ, where Inquisition soldiers and Cretian military personnel can relieve and treat citizens of both Rhydorana and Ramance, as well as casualties of Assembly of Nations peacekeeping forces currently deployed. Two Pontiff-class Medical Frigates will stand by as floating hospitals within this DMZ for the immediate treatment of wounded civilians and personnel until two months after cessation of hostilites. Phase 'Skarp'

Cereris 5 1300 RST - RAN deploys unit formation 'Squadron Atta', consisting of three Engram-class destroyers (RAS Spøkelse, Sverd, Styn) to the Glasplatte Strait to support ATB operations and provide initial foothold for mission objectives to be launched from.
Cereris 5 1435 RST - RAN formalizes the formation of an "Eastern Expedition Force", begins loading equipment, vehicles and supplies on the carrier Løve as well as three FCSV's, and begins planning for the attachment of other units and ships.
Cereris 6 1525 RST - President Holt addresses a joint convened session of Parliament, introducing on the floor a special bill allocating funds for military involvement in Rhydorana, in support of the Freehold of Ramance and in ending the reign of 'unreigned terror throughout the lands'. The bill is approved with a slim margin, granting an estimated 1-7 billion ducats the Ministry of Defense for this operation and other related actions.
