What would you like me to do first? My resources might be spread thin since I'm also involved in Mokov.

Whatever you want. We can slow things as you wish. It is gonna be a slow RP. I intend for it to last a year at least...like the real wars out there right now.

Screw attempting to give background for why Rázgríz is down to involve itself, to varying degrees, in this conflict and why it takes the route it does. NS just keeps deleting my in progress posts nigh at the same point and I’ll just wait till the motivation returns.

With that said, I definitely will hop on this bandwagon. I don’t plan on using much of my own assets on this, so expect mercenaries from Port McHenry to make their debut. The main goal is to secure independence for (and then annex :P) Jaring, as attempting to do anything further may put my nation at odds with Sinja or Tamsaling (which Rázgríz relies on for the central route) or involve Rázgríz in yet another major overseas conflict in Argus.

You could do what Russia did in Crimea...wink, wink.

The Suvurnian connection begins

Yes!

Do you want me to RP Chhemsi's reply or do we just move on to other stuff?

I can make a news post now with a special session of the Party issuing ideological support for the Athara Magarati government.

Sure thing, Go ahead with that.

I'm going to enter this by deploying Scantarbian Red Cross across the conflict region.
They're unarmed and using vehicles with little to no protection. This could be upgraded later on as the situation escalates.
Alongside the SRC, there'll be also war journalists which would be reporting on the atrocities that happen during the war.

The story arc could be expanded by having an aid convoy or aid-related infrastructures being denied entry to a city, ambushed, kidnapped, taken hostage, etc. Therefore this would escalate the situation resulting in the attachment of Scantarbian military/PMC units/local militia to protect the SRC in order to provide humanitarian assistance to those who need it most.

The recent Magarati trade bribes scandal will hamper the Almorean government as it tries to respond to the crisis, essentially forcing the administration into a non-interventionist stance, barring future developments.

I might be interested in joining, just need to figure out my role and remember how to write. It's been about 6 years since my last RP on here so I'm super rusty...

I would almost certainly be supporting the socialists, probably with military supplies and direct support (maybe a newly formed army company sent to gain battlefield experience?)

So yeah. Long time since something was written in this thread.

Today I present to you two cities that could be the epicenter of this conflict.

Please forgive my horrible maps

First off, we have Shakti Khor (the capital of Eastern Chatha). It was established as a fortress-city during the Great Argus Wars by the then Hang of Chatha to keep his family safe as the then Chathaese capital Chyo-bang City (now Adige in San Montagna) always came under siege by enemy forces. The city has around 680,000 people living in it (at least at the moment). The Namrung River (who BTW is also one of the main local gods) separates this city (and entire Eastern Chatha in general) from Marubhumi Hangate in the west. Unlike their cousins in Western Chatha and South Chatha who are mostly Catholics or other Christians, the residents of Shakti Khor and the rest of Eastern Chatha are shamanists who still worship the old gods.

So far in the IC, it has been established that Thebe Kulung Hang's Khumbuwani rebellion inspired the southern hangates to revolts as their for their independence (these hangates have a history of rebelling). However, there is more backstory to the story of Chathas. In the 1991-1995 30th Parallel War, the then independent Chatha was split into three (South Chatha in San Montagna and Eastern and Western Chatha in AM). There is much larger backstory like why Chatha was independent or why the war was fought but not that important right now. What is important to remember is that the Chatha region was split. For decades, the people of Eastern and Western Chatha called for a referendum so that the southern strip of Marubhumi region to be annexed into "Magarati Chatha" so that it could be one entity (at least within AM). But that never happened as leaders of other hangates were in the pockets of Marubhumi officials (who claim that handing their southern strip would mean that all their habitable cities would be gone...which is actually true for the rest of Marubhumi region is a desert) while the central government only made false promises that were never delivered. This increasingly frustrated the Chathaese leaders; who have now found a golden opportunity to take over Marubhumi lands and connect their disunited territories and they will even take the help of San Montagna (which appears to be rooting for a united Chatha) to do so. Rumors of a possible San Montagnan invasion at the invitation of the disgruntled Chathaese, who seek unification with their cousins, has made the central Magarati government very worried.

Then we have the City of Golden Library, Kamatpur. Capital of Koch Hangate, it hosts 1.2 million people. Founded by in the 13th Century by Rajbansi settlers, it was a frequent target of raids by various nomadic Khas-Kirati or Argean Ipachi tribes as late as the 16th Century and faced various San Montagnan incursions later on. However, many of the raiders and invaders themselves came to admire the city, the abundance of arable lands (Koch Hangate produces 90% of the not-imported food in AM) and its great monuments such as the Golden Library. The city is divided into Old Kamatpur in the west and New Kamatpur in the east. Unlike Shakti Khor mentioned above (whose population is almost entirely from the Western Kirati tribe Chepang), Kamatpur is one of the most diverse and most populous cities in AM (save for Sinja Valley and the Three Islands of Tapu, New Forest and Tiwe Sivn).

The Koch plains are allied with Marubhumi Hangate. When the Koch liberation army moved its forces to help Marubhumi fight the combined Chathaese forces, Jaring (whose Santhali hangs have a history of laying claims to the entirety of Koch plains) attacked from the east. To make matters worse, the Santhali hangs are now openly saying they seek to join Razzgriz and then there are rumors of a possible San Montagnan invasion at the invitation of Chathaese leaders. And they are not the only ones. The central government is planning to take action in Kamatpur before a possible Razzgriz intervention or a San Montagnan invasion become reality and the monarchists, centered at Tamsaling and Arun Valley for now, watch the situation unfold carefully as they plan their next moves at bringing back the reign of the Mahangs.

So yeah...our RP will now be mostly focused on these two cities. Expect the situation to be like in Aleppo; where the battle (siege to be specific) went from 2012 to 2016. We will also be having much of the conflict take place in these two cities (and some towns near them) so that the rest of AM (specifically self-proclaimed neutral states like Chuli Hangate and the Three Islands of Tapu, New Forest and Tiwe Sivn do not have to do anything drastic and can continue with their daily lives).

There are many possibilities here. One could RP as tourists stuck in these cities and now desperately trying to get out. One could RP as a foreign volunteer (totally not a San Montagnan or Razzgriz soldier). One could RP as a war journalist.

I also believe it will be much easier to keep track of events and factions if we ground this conflict to these two cities for now.

Also, most of Shakti Khor and Old Kamaptur are filled with bahas. Which are these things

Hey, this works for me. Perhaps I could have one story arc focusing on a detachment of Brulafi "peacekeepers"/soldiers in one city, then maybe a Brulafi citizen who's visiting family in the other city when the war starts, so he can't leave.

Yup. Like the idea. And, fighting between the local factions had kind of already been a thing.

Cool! What else should I know before I post? (I'd like to do that soon.) Also, which city would work best for each character that I have up there?
