The Red And The Blue

The world would never be the same when the first nuclear bomb was detonated in 1952 by The Federal Socialist Republic of Novus Mundus (FSRNM). It marked a turning point for the way warfare would be conducted in the coming years amongst the nations of the world. Espionage and nuclear proliferation became the only topic on the minds of men of power. Conventional warfare between superpowers would quickly be replaced by smaller proxy wars that pit ideological opponents against each other in deadly guerilla campaigns. The FSRNM, under the leadership of Luís Carlos Prestes and the FSG (Federative Socialist Guard) immediately began a campaign to strengthen its power over South America by weaponizing the fear that the bomb struck within the hearts of man, woman, and child alike. The year is now 1958 and The FSRNM has concrete control over South America with its only opposition being The Imperial State of Sol and The Tupian Confederacy of which occupies the southernmost portion of the continent. North America has likewise fallen under a hegemony of its own as rumblings of conflict in Europe begin to sling around the earth. The world is entering an unknown era whilst superpowers prepare to charge one another like batteries.

The Rouzen Shogunate of
Imperial Japan

(RSJ Acronym)

Following the successes of the great conquest and the successful deflection of full drawn out war between the politically turbulent North America after a series of conflicts in the Pacific that largely led to stablemates and hard won victories of little reward. The RJS host ran rampant throug not only both Asia and southeast Asian regions but also the Pacific as a whole had felt the brunt of Imperial ambition.

Korea, North and South China, Formosa, Malaya, Dutch East Indies, and even parts of French indo China all the way to New Zealand and the various Isles of the Pacific fell into the vicious Jaws of the Rouzen Shogunate. Through its history from the sengoku period until present, the Oda Daimyo indeed survived and unified the Japanese Islands and pressed on through history until today. Tokugawa and toyotomi clans crush and expelled from the land for their treason and forever remembers on the flag itself.

Sonnō Tōkan", which translates to "Revere the Emperor, Destroy the Traitors".

That grudge long dead, The Rouzen Shogunate are the inheritors of these past fruitful ambitions. The unimpeded sweep in the last decade and a half afforded the lands of Nippon with everything they would ever need to establish themselves as a major power in the world. The maritime routes and immense navy pinged from Isle to Isle in a meticulously well crafted and well primed engine of order, efficiency, and most importantly nationalist fervor- hailing Japan as the greatest Asian ethnic. The dominant overlords of the East.

Continuing on their path of reinforcing this belief, swathes and swathes of "undesirables" were put to death in the treat conquests policy of the 3 alls... Burn all, Kill all, loot all. millions were unjustly slaughtered, maimed, raped and erased, making way for the final steps of colonialization. Death marches and exodus' were common in the days following the great conquest, systematic destruction of resistant elements and the atavistic insertion of Japanese culture forced its way into these newly conquered territories. These warcrimes went largely ignored despite being reported. Behind the curtains of other great battles and travesties, The Japanese were the victors, thus writing their own story and perogative after only a decade, hundreds of thousands if not millions were now tied to the Japanese bloodline. Even so far as south America where the remnants of the Tokugawa and Hideyoshi fled so veyrry long ago.

Re-education is an understatement. To avoid the world's ire, the war hosts of the Imperial Japanese forces ceased their expansionary policies and looked to reinforce their holdings across saturated and well focused defensive fronts. Supply lines and logistics exploded as a major priority to ensure efficiency and order be implemented. Policies like the Yuri initiative saw that the Isles and ports became fundamentally and culturally integrated into both the economics but also the culture of greater Japan. Expulsion of foreign forces and annexation of their holdings brought so much material wealth that immediate action had to be taken to consolidate and allocate these resources appropriately.

The SenNoMe secret police maintained vigilant control and expanded as an immersive but heavy handed tool of subjugation across the territories. The lack of foundation and central control in many of these lands made forced integration easy. Those who spoke out would earn the bullet, those that followed the program were rewarded as it became clear that the cooperation and recognition of the Japanese state bestowed a region with infrastructural attentions and projects. The governors each vying to appease the homeland with amicable if not exceptional results of progress! Almost 20 years was long enough begin the change of a generation... Forgetting who they used to be and brainwashing as to whom they are now.

Shogun Rouzen Kimaru, commander in chief and supreme Chancellor, second only to the emperor himself. Kimaru was the true leader of this empire, as the emperor remained a figure head and puppet of this great nation, however still required the emperors appointment and approval despite the his own powers and influence.

An annual summit had been called where the generals and governors of every territory had been called into meeting regarding the issues and progresses of each domain within the Dominion after the lift of martial law in each region. The municipal governments were tasked with furthering economic agenda and policing the locals while working in tandem with institutions and the inhabitants themselves while the military simply protected and sentried their borders and cities such as China. Government officials were encouraged to place the new generation of mixed bloods into key municipal positions and as teachers in efforts to erode the cultural foundation that previously existed. Prison camps far from the city existed to house and exterminate individuals unwilling to participate. After 20 years the relaxation of these policies is beginning progress as much of the hard line elements have ceased to be and benefits both economically and civilly have opened up.

Gold from Indonesia strengthened the Yen, Oil from Malaya brought innovation, ores of Manchu provided resources to build and endorse public projects, the unlimited choice of trade ports created hubs for all to earn their fill, the crimes of 20 years ago that endured for 10 and laxed throughout 10 more were steadily being forgotten. All the while, radio, television, and music across all cultural and political platforms hailed the grestness of the Dominion!

There were others though, far away 8000 miles across the Pacific who shared this decent of Japanese blood and yearned for these benefits. The exodus of Toyotomi and Tokugawa into South America gave rise to immense Japanese demographics that now fought against the red tide of communism. Year and years of sweat and tears to become something in a new country not known to them was being torn away by mongrel farmers and nobodies that chose theft through socialism as their vent.

The Sol territories had been in negotiation with the IJ for months now looking to secure protection and training to fend off these peasant revolts and uprisings. Only too happy to oblige, the RSJA steadily moved to supply their long lost "cousins" the means to defend their honor and display their own element of Bushido, lest they die trying.

There is however complication. North America would not be privy to a full mobilisation or invasion into its hemisphere and the ceasefire and peace from 20 years ago has persisted on both sides. The Rouzen instead have opt for more subtle ground of intervention via proxy wars and support. Numerous trade deals and treaties have been signed to placate the Sol Territories and allow them ample means of protecting themselves. Purchasing of older naval vessels, some new, and numerous arms from the domestic RSJ arms industry.

A fleet was sold in light of shipyards churning out newer innovations for the greater Japan proper. Training officers were deployed in exchange for trade, resources, and hard currency to bring up the military forces of the Sol holdings. All the while, plots and schemes had been in place, devised to slow down the tide bellowing forth from Brazil.

Securing the majority of copper trade from Chile to expand its own technological advancements and productions across the dominion, A trade embargo would be set forth by Japan establishing maximum quotas on goods sent through Panama and sold to the communists of both North and South America. These quotas would be notoriously low and justified by the unceasingly persistent attacks on the Sol territories and only abated if they ceased funding and aid to the Peruvian and Brazilian militants that threatened the Sol territories for so many years.

Clearly the Northern Americans were less involved and less effected, however if they provided the aid to their southern constituents ceased or even hopefully withdrawn entirely, embargoes and tarrifs would be lifted. This was essentially a statement that no assistance to the FSRNM would be tolerated and that the Rouzen Shogunate was in stark opposition to this movement of communism. In tandem to this move, the Chileans were encouraged to make use of guerilla tactics and disrupt the copper mines of Peru and destroy the mining industries ability to subsidise technology and production.

This development came at the nearing of a formal declaration of war from Sol Chile to Peru.

Kingston, Jamaica, United Caribbean Federation

Tivoli Gardans

Jack loaded the shotgun quickly and efficiently. It was a good gun, based on an Ithaca model, with black furniture and a 7 round tube. He looked around and nodded to the Federal Internal Security Bureau agents as they checked their weapons. They all wore plain clothes, mostly season appropriate attire in the form of light shirts and shorts. They were raiding a suspected drug den and were armed for such a closed off area. Tivoli Gardens was known as a slum, even with the Urban renewal Project starting earlier in the year. They were expecting maybe a half dozen people and so had brought only 9 armed men, all with a duty pistol, some with submachine guns and others with shotguns and a few with short .30 carbine rifles.

Checking his armor vest, he took stock of him self one last time, stood up and pumped his shotgun and gave a curt nod to the rest of the party as they readied them selves. Approaching the door, he brought his foot up and slammed it on the door a few inches right of the lock. The door flew open with a bang and he moved in quickly. A man came running around the corner and Jack yelled in accented Spanish, "Policía ¡Policía, levanta las manos! He leveled the shotgun on the man who raised his own pistol. Jack shot him dead center, the buckshot shredding his torso and face. This brought more yells and screams of surprise as the rest of the team flowed in behind him. They moved through the building quickly, wounding two others who went for guns luckily no one else was killed.

In the end they found in the basement of the building a most peculiar sight. The room was not a drug den, not a production hub for coke or reefer...The room was neatly organized, two long rows of radios and type writers lined the long wooden table that sat in the center of the room. Inspector Armando, a man he knew well as a veteran member of the ISB, came up behind him, his Carbine in hand. "This...do you know what this is Jack?" He nodded, "This is a radio room...These are Morse code machines...I found a case of half burnt cipher lists and frequency keys in a trash bin by the wall. Inspector I don't like what I am seeing here...this is a Intelligence gathering outpost..."

"Now just to figure out who's gathering the intel..."

Unknown Location, Cuban Mountains.

The thing that woke the man up was a swift kick to the still bandaged leg. He let loose a surprised yell as he shook awake, finding him self tied to a metal chair in a dark room. With a flash a flood light was turned on and shining in to the mans eyes. A voice bounced off the concrete walls of the little cell as a shape emerged in to light. "Alright fuckwit, i'm going to be simple with you, tell me what I want and I wont shove a lit cigar in to your bullet wound..."

The Democratic Federation of Volkstrad
Vorsitzende mitt Uns
Image

In 1948, the government of the Kingdom of Volkstrad was ousted in a military coup d'etat. While this event in particular had been unexpected, everyone knew that something was brewing. The monarchy had, as of recent, made itself quite unpopular as the King's power had grown weak and the authority of corrupt and self-serving officials strong. Private armies extorted the citizenry and poverty riddled the nation, and it looked like a new era of warlordism was dawning. Volkstrad had become, essentially, ruled by a mafia in the garb of office.

However, this was not to be. The 4th Army of General Valko Markov, garrisoned on the fringes of the northeastern border, was a formation largely clean of corruption. The men of the army were contemptuous of the state of the country, and over the course of months, General Markov swayed them with a new ideology. Volkstrad was a strong nation with a proud history, dozens of peoples united under the King in days of old to become one. The Volkstradi Army was the mightiest in the world, and the Volkstradi people the most honest and hard-working. Yet, what had the nation come to? Wealthy bureaucrats lining their pockets at the expense of the common folk? The King, once a symbol of ardor, virtue, and unity, now a feeble, toothless puppet? Obviously, as clear as day, this could not be allowed to stand. So, what should be done?

General Markov proposed, in secret, that the military take up arms as a vanguard into this new era. They were the few righteous men left in all of Volkstrad who had been graced with the power to change fate, and so it was their duty to use it. A new era of prosperity where the corrupt oligarchs would be beaten down and eradicated so the honest folk of the nation could prosper. The state would be strengthened, greater than it once was, and the new, clean government would perform its duties to make certain that such dark times would never return. A new brand of "socialism", unlike the naive forms of the West, one that would truly serve the Volkstradi people.

Soon, the new ideas of "Markovism" spread between the troops, and they began to mobilize for the West, to enact their vision. Through every town and city they passed, they spread word of the New Order and put the bourgeois traitors and their henchmen to the wall. Waves of peasants marched alongside the stoic men of the 4th Army, smashing through the private militias that stood in their path as troops from other units defected en-masse, seeing the writing on the wall. Within weeks, the capital had fallen as the Royal Family fled the country in advance after securing a secret deal with the General. Within six months, the country had fallen into a Reign of Terror where any who had been supportive of the previous order were purged.

However, this trend of tyranny would only continue. Tight border controls were enacted, at first to "Prevent the traitorous dogs from fleeing justice", but would soon become permanent. Media was put under state control and heavily censored. A new government was established, and Markov became the first Chairman as well as head of the armed forces. Many sectors of the economy were put under state control, all manner of new agencies were commissioned. The final nail in the coffin on Volkstrad's path as a police state was the establishment of the "Staatssicherheit" or "Stasi"; an intelligence agency to monitor all affairs at home and abroad and safeguard the revolution.

Ten years later, having consolidated affairs at home and set the country on a track towards further modernization, Volkstrad now seeks to secure its future abroad, one way or another.

La Republica Togeria

The Winds of Time.....
Always blow in favor of those who are patient, and within the year of 1958 it may be all we have. A red storm of populist thought has come down to rain the devilish whispers of communism into the ears of the young and innocent. Reckless individuals who only use the force of their numbers and will of their weapons impose their ideology onto those weaker than them. The continent has split and fragmented from both corners the hordes of communist forcing themselves into homes and business alike ravaging man and beast, woman and child alike. Those who have managed to survive are fleeing but where? The sanctuary of the Caribbean is separated by the sea. Desperate peoples those who refuse to fall to this storm, refuse to drown in the blood of brothers and sisters who refused to stay still and obedient. Who stand as the Lone Republic, the only TRUE Republic within the Americas...

Before '58
Los Villas a city located mere miles south of the border with the Northerners was the capital of the True Republic. Years only into what was been termed "La Guerra Bandera" (The Flag War), the years after the nuclear detonation and subsequent offensives by the Northern and Southern communist the Partido Unionista headed by Jesus Marte de Villas. The party hold control under martial law and have used the authority granted by it to establish a military republic. The Army and Navy hold central authority with more federal power partitioned to the executive branch with slight legislative and judicial oversight. Since 1953 Marte has avoided outright war and aggression with his neighbors instead utilizing the time restructure the internal subdivisions of the nation. In 1954 he would with approval from congress pass "Ley de Hierro y Maiz" the Iron and Corn Act that would nationalize select services and industries within the nation.

Following this several further laws would be passed expanding the range of residency and citizenship to those who have moved into the country to escape the Rojas, of note citizenship would be granted to those who served 2 tours of three years total within the army, navy, or air forces. Secondly the industrial and logistical base of the nation would be simplified, several corps of workers would be levied from the poor and middle class, immigrants, and criminal to begin and undergo several low investment infrastructure projects. Wages relating to rail, road, and factory work would be raised in order to encourage more employment in these markets as well as farmers would be encouraged to grow grain and other foodstuffs.

(IC/OOC: Super professional I know but skipping the fluff I've been getting ready like everyone else)

It was a foggy night in Azarod, and if not for the dying bulb in the planning room, it would have been of little note. Despite the inconvenience, a small group of men had gathered to discuss important matters for the Volkstradi State. Political, military, and intelligence officials all who, technically, were off on other business and certainly not together on this particular night. However, this too was nothing out of the ordinary in of itself. Secret meetings were simply par for the course in this line of work. The topic that night was, of course, the situation of the Americas.

"This world dominated by super-states exists in a careful balance. As it stands, the coalitions in the North and South of the New World are on a collision course, and soon the UCF and Togeria will be caught between them. They may resist, but it's simply impossible for them to survive. The Bolshevists may come to blows over the matter, but they are simply too large and powerful to decisively defeat one another in a timely fashion. It's likely that, instead, they will expand their proxy war into the Old World and into our neck of the woods instead. This is intolerable. So, gentlemen, what is to be done? How do we stop this chain? Simple. We prevent the defeat of the Central Americans. If they remain, then there will be a nice threat at the homefront for them to exhaust themselves upon in their endless games. Hopefully, at least, this will buy us some time if nothing else."

"So, Comrade Laguardia, your proposal is reasonable enough. But talk is one thing, and execution is another. What do you have in mind?"

"Ah, as for that, Major Batelka has the details. I'll allow him to explain the meat of it."

With that, the discussion carried on for many hours to follow. However, by the end of it, the matter was decided: "Operation Hussite" was approved, and soon after, the arms of the secret state mobilized for action.
I'm not actually a communist.

The Red Eagle Spreads Its Wings

Image

66th Armored Regiment in Combat, outside Hermosillo

America was once destined to be a haven for the masses, meant to be a new home to those who wanted, needed a new life. The Poor, the Oppressed, the Disadvantaged can cross the seas to come to the land of endless opportunity to forge a new life. Though, as the vision of the American Dream remained, the sparkling light hid a rotten interior. Those who grew rich would grow only richer by stomping out any opportunity they could for the average citizen to rise to their level. Meager Wages, dangerously squalid conditions mirrored by the worker's dwellings left the backbone of the American Economy in a miserable state. These Corporate Overlords continued to leave the worker in a miserable state, gaining wealth that would be impossible to spend in a life time with even the most excessive of spending habits, all while the Federal Government turned a blind eye as it's own citizens and territory were exploited. What was meant For the People by the People was corrupted from within, sprawling Mega Corporations clouding the sky with their factory's smog as the humble laborer marched day in and day out, their lives nothing more then a profit margin. Soon enough, spirits would finally snap. Their cries for their own rights would befall deaf ears, the rage of an entire class of people building and building in a positive feedback loop. If they won't be listened too they would make themselves heard, if the boot of their corporate overlord won't be pulled off on it's own they will have to shove it off with force. The Worker should no longer suffer under the powerful few, but they shall be united as a nation under one flag, allowing each one's voices to be heard as matters would be taken into their own hands.

The Upheaval was initiated by the Great Railroad Strike of 1872, where Rail line workers along the Eastern Steel belt rose up in a widespread strike against the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, a large employer of the area, after wages were cut in the third time that year. Quickly, the flames of this Uprising spread rapidly across the United States, a Revolution not unlike the Paris Commune soon being proclaimed by the soon unified Revolutionaries. As the Government and their Corporate Allies scrambled to get the situation under control, Federal Troops marching alongside privately funded Militias, the blindfold that the day to day citizen wore was torn off by anti-labor violence that rippled through every city. Instead of fearing the common laborer for threatening their way of life, the common man soon saw that his neighbor was intentionally kicked down from where was he was standing in the name of Profit. The Filthy Interior was soon exposed for all to see, the American Dream long gone in the face of their own exploitation for monetary gain. Side by Side, the Citizen, the Worker, and the Farmer marched against the Capitalist Oppressor, in a nation wracked with corruption and still recovering from a war with itself just seven years earlier. The American People would reestablish their nation's purpose, it's creation was For the People, By The People, and that was how they would govern, and under the Second Constitution the Working Man shall be protected and he will have his own say in the economy he runs on his own back. No longer will the USA be a Federation of Corporations, but a Federation of the People.
Image

Artistic Representation of the St.Louis Uprising, 1878

What the Corporations did leave behind was the framework for the industrialization of America, the nation's near excessive resources just barely beginning to be tapped into as rail lines reached every corner of the country, the industry already being set in place for a rapid expansion unlike one the world has ever seen. America was a nation ready to rise to the top of the world stage since it's inception, and no matter what ideology it might follow it would do just that. As the Unions reorganized and took control of the means of production, and the Government was reshuffled and reorganized to bring it to serve the People, and not itself, America would shoot up to become the top manufacturing state on the globe, rich resources, encouraged the American Machine to grow ever more powerful, the personal wealth of each citizen reaching the top of the list as the working man, the business man, the farmer, and the soldier stood together under the banner of the United Syndicates of America in order to protect their home and support their fellow man, all thanks to the sacrifices of the Unionists of the 1870s.

A Crimson Eyesore on the Globe

Ever since it's inception, the Syndicates were seen with distaste by the powers of the world, and it's people knew that well. America was a country that was accustomed to fighting for it's own freedom and privacy, and the Isolationism of the past was deemed unacceptable. In order for America to survive in this time, where it was seen as the Red Menace to the capitalist powers of the Old World, it would have to own the arms to defend itself. The Military would soon become a hotly contended topic between the various parties within Congress, but all could agree on one thing: a heavy Expansion would be needed to ensure the security of the American People and State. It would soon come much to the advantage of the Americans, as the First World War would eventually pull in the country to it's first major conflict, with it's progenitor none the less: The British Empire.

The British were staunchly anti-leftist, that was not a hard observation to make. After America shifted from Blue to Red it would only cement the anti-leftist movement in Britain and it's North American Bulwark: Canada. Unlike the Syndicates, Canada was disadvantaged due to geography. It was stretched thin, it's population centers hanging dangerously above the core of American Industry as it's food sources were likewise hung over the Dakotas like the worm on a fishhook. The Syndicates would force their hand, in order to protect themselves, as a full invasion was quickly organized and sent across the longest continuous border on the planet. The British would fight with their best, but as the Red Navy locked Canada from the outside world, and the sheer numeral superiority not to mention quality of American troops were overwhelming for a sparsely populated land. Peace would soon be achieved, the goal of securing their northern border, as for now the Syndicates looked south.

The First World War only proved the fact that the Syndicates needed to maintain a strong standing military, one that can operate across not only the Atlantic but the Pacific as well, and be up to scratch with any other soldier compared to them, as well as the Navy. Interwar Expansion of the Military would be questioned as terms ended and congressmen shifted positions, but with a Rising Sun in the East, it would soon come to the test, to see if it was worth it in the long run. To the South, the Capitalist Nations would come to their own Upheavals, American Support being funneled into the Mexican Revolution in particular in order to secure a much needed buffer to the south, not to mention another ally in the New World to join the Continental Economic and Defense Pact. With their distractions to the south, the Japanese would direct an assault on the Syndicate's Pacific Holdings, Hawaii and Midway being subject to much of the force, as well as a minor front in the Aleutians. Attention quickly turned towards the Far East, production of military assets being kick started not only by Government Mandate, but Union Mandate as well, this was an assault on the People by an Oppressive Empire, and it shall be a People's War, or so initially thought. With the American Fleets and Marines sent across the Pacific, slowly but surely pushing back the Japanese with their own share of Casualties, such a distant and unnecessary war was not seen in a bright light by the American people. Successes in securing their own nation have placated their warlike desires, as the invasion of a nation 8000 miles away seemed like an unneeded step, especially with the growing casualties over the Defense of Midway and the various battles of the Pacific, although cementing American Power, it would prove to sway the vote of the people to ending the war. Either out of luck, or fear, the Japanese would agree to an uneasy peace. But, fears would remain of another attack, perhaps of an even greater scale then the initial invasion, as the Pacific Islands under the Syndicates and the Pacific Navy remained a focus for the Armed Forces, the Islands becoming some of the most fortified positions on the planet as the Pacific Navy was devoted any resource it wished for by the Government. Even if the War of the Pacific ended much like how it started, many anticipated a longer war, one that demanded every resource of the nation to defeat an enemy that could be just as strong as the Syndicates, so a weapon to end it swiftly would be developed. A Nuclear Weapon, not unlike the one created by the Syndicate's Southern Comrades, would be developed in the following years, with funding coming in from the Air Force and Navy. Being beat out by Brazil by only 2 years, the first nuclear test would occur in New Mexico, hidden away from the eyes of the World as the stockpile of such weapons grew under cover.
Image

American Ships during the Invasion of Pearl harbor

The Creation of the Mexican Syndicate would not come without it's own price, however. The remaining Central American Capitalist nations quickly consolidated into one, enraged by the division of their own nation no thanks to the Americans. This would reignite the fear of a coming war, as Military Assets within Mexico would remain on alert, a slow but steady build up along the Rio Grande of Infantry, Tanks, and Planes to Spare being the focus of the Military now, waiting for the day an assault on Mexico by the Togerian Capitalists to initiate an offensive to once again protect not only the American People, but the Mexican People as well. And as their Brazillian Comrades begin to show their true colors, the United Syndicates might have to draw it's sword once more to ensure the Safety and the Freedom of the people.

La Reaccion Liberal!!!
Image

As the communist ravaged every state they passed through within their reign of terror those who are fortunate enough to escape and flee have found their way largely to the open borders of The Republic. Though precautions had been taken in advance with many projects still ongoing the amount people entering has led to the Executive to reopen some orphanages as well as asylums to act as housing facilities along with materials being allocated to build low maintenance camps south of the state's core.

Supplies as a consequence have been hard and difficult for the state to come by resorting to the Army having to organize some of the citizenry into proper irregulars. They would for all intents and purposes they would be bandits with training, ordered to operate chiefly up north within Occupied Mexico. They in order to throw off their enemies would the enemy would dawn red bandanas and clothing to resemble farmhands they would fire on small patrols of partisans along Sinaloa. Assembled into bands of 4x3 it was common for at least 3 members among these bands to carry explosives ranging from extra TNT to fire and glass bombs. The purpose of which was to scare off as many of the communist as possible as either aid in obtaining loot or avoiding capture.

Within the border and especially within the urban core neighborhood communities are being organized both among adults and youths. Volunteers are being taught to act as leaders within their respective neighborhoods and villages encouraged to take initiative in ensuring good morale and weeding out those who may fear-monger. Families are also encouraged to teach skills relating to cooking, sewing, faith, medicine, and arithmetic to their children with Community Leaders being encouraged to host semi-weekly to weekly neighborhood meetings where these skills will be further discussed and taught. The press would further be semi-nationalized as a select few printing presses would be converted to act within "The Greater Public Sphere" moving away from solely printing about the news to printing copies of religious works, textbooks, manuals, guides, maps, and certain political philosophy. This would be done in an effort to supply families and cities a means to teach their children and peoples as well as retain knowledge thus giving the state a means to more easily and reliably utilize its populace.

Throughout the process, news outlets would begin to use the "La Reaccion" an organized counter push against the extreme left and their ideology. Unlike the Communist who sought to cull certain classes in the name of progress, Unionista would synthesize the different strengths of its pools, the capitalist would facilitate the growth, the laborers would produce the growth, and then the state would organize the collective production best continue and feed trinity. Yet, even should they achieve breakthrough upon breakthrough it would mean little the enemies control a territory that within its collective dwarfs that of Europe several times over. To organize themselves the state to perfection may only see it survive but in this war, it is not enough to merely breathe and continue to breathe. One must be able to breathe and move, breath and live! We cannot simply survive the war, we must be able to WIN the war!

Operation Hussite

At eight o'clock on a Monday morning, near-identical messages were wired to the governments of Togeria and the UCF from the headquarters of Mikhaelos Heavy Industries, a company based in Crete. Founded in 1926, the company typically dealt with buying and selling military hardware secondhand, and while reliable, had a reputation for rather shady deals, as well as having poor relations with the large corporate blocs of the South. In the last decade, the company had acquired quite a fair bit of recently-obsolete tech, and had found itself with a surplus of supply and a stifling of demand. In truth, the company was in somewhat dire straits, but fortunately, had been able to acquire some very serious materiel after recent deals.

To that end, the telegram the two governments received boiled down to sales pitch: the countries needed only state their desire, and MHI would do its damnest to fill it. All prices and details were negotiable, and attempts to procure anything not immediately in inventory could be procured, or at least attempted.
I'm not actually a communist.

Our Revolutionary Mother

Image

The year 1920 saw the founding of The Left Opposition Party (A Trotskyist offshoot of the failed Russian Bolshevik party) by Livio, Claudio, and Lelia Abramo. The siblings had been born in Sao Paulo to Italian immigrants and would later become radicalized by a Russian militant named Leon Trotsky during his visit to Brazil in the year 1935. Trotsky himself had been banished from The Russian State for his revolutionary actions and now traveled through impoverished nations hoping to light any fuse that may present itself. In Brazil, that fuse would be the Abramo family who began organizing The Left Opposition within Sao Paulo with direct oversight by Leon Trotsky himself. Trotsky called for immediate revolution by the masses in South America to create a powerful socialist state that would be capable of sparking internationalist revolutions throughout the third world and the first world. This idea came in stark contrast to the Syndicalists in the north that had revolutionized America during the chaos of the 19th century.

The Left Opposition would gather the support of millions with the aid of northern Syndicalists and the unjust actions of the old regime. Men would flock to the rallying cry of internationalist socialism with the hopes of gaining a level of liberty that only the northern Syndicalists had managed to achieve. The next four years would be marked by intense guerrilla warfare, assassinations, foreign support, arms smuggling, and general crime as the old regime arrived at the river of death. Livio and Claudio, brothers in arms for the socialist cause, would be killed in the final stages of the revolution by fringe nationalist militants. Lelia Abramo was left with a war torn Brazil and an exhausted populace. She would seize on this to build a new government, a single party dictatorship of the proletariat, under The Left Opposition and more so under Lelia as The Secretary General. The northern syndicalists would aid in the construction of this new government out of the hopes of forging a southern ally. Military and police forces would be organized, counter revolutionaries would be executed, labor camps established, and purges would become commonplace.

The official policy of Marxist-Leliaism was to "Support the construction and completion of internationalist revolutions throughout the world along with the creation of powerful dictatorships of the proletariat capable of protecting the revolution.". These socialist "superstates" would then work in tandem to wither away towards the stateless society first introduced by Karl Marx and Engels. This policy would have an immediate effect following the completion of the revolution in 1939 and the reorganization of the state in 1941. The year 1942 marked the beginning of the Bolivian-Paraguay Revolution which was more so a combined arms invasion of the nations by the new Brazilian state. These invasions, with the aid of local rebellious populations, were swift and the nations were absorbed into Brazil which had now adopted the name of The Federal Socialist Republic of Mundus Novus. These invasions were done after predictions made by scholars of international relations in North America. These scholars had proposed that the Charcas region of Bolivia served as a Heartland for South America just as Western Russia and Eastern Germany served as the heartland of Eurasia. Proponents of the Heartland Theory further proposed that those who control the Heartlands would be capable of unregulated expansion throughout the entirety of the continent due to the immense resources and populations found within those areas. This theory would become an integral part of Marxist-Leliaism. (Note, this theory actually influenced many of the actions taken by Adolf hitler, take that as you will... real life Brazil has even pursued this theory).

The invasions would be complete by early 1943 which would free up the FSRMN to focus on funding internationalist revolutions in its own backyard. Popular revolutions in Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru had been funded and armed by the FSRMN between 1940 - 1946 resulting in the complete collapse of the four regimes with The FSRMN at the head of the rebuilding process. Lelia Abramo introduced The Lima Plan, named for being first ratified in Lima, which would split the four nations into two Socialist states organized similar to the FSRMN. These states, The Socialist Commonwealth of Gran Colombia and The Union of South American States (SCGC and USAS, respectively), would become the cornerstone of the Marxist-Lelianist argument going into the year 1947.

The FSRMN would turn its sites further south in 1947, towards The Tupian Confederacy and The Imperial State of Sol. The Tupian Confederacy (occupying the region of Uruguay) served as a state with the vested goal of protecting native South American races. The majority of the nation would be made up of descendants of The Tupi Tribes which dominated the Amazon before the arrival of the colonials. The state would furthermore harbor ethnic Mayans, Inca, and even Aztecs in small percentages. The FSRMN saw The Tupian Confederacy as so inconsequential that it may exist without major socialist incursion unless by the will of its own people. The Imperial State of Sol was an entirely different matter. First colonized during the era of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Sol would become the first and only major colonial acquisition of the Japanese Shogunate however its effects remain seen to this day. The modern population is dominated by individuals of Asian descent holding 50-60% of the share in population. It has furthermore enjoyed historical support from Japan and as such its government and traditions reflect that of the home island. Trade between Sol and Japan is robust and productive. Time will tell if they will continue to hold out against the northern threat.

The year is now 1958 and the world sits on thin ice...

The Defense of The Revolution
Image

The current FSRMN is protected by The International Socialist Army (TISA) which is directly controlled and organized by the party and its selected Marshalls. The TISA currently stands with 2.5 million active duty military personnel (10% of the population). The vast majority of active duty troops, 2 million, act in various infantry and armored roles. The other .5 million currently serve within the nations Navy and Airforce programs. The standard battle rifle of the FSRMN is a variant of the Belgian FN FAL design designated as the NR-1 chambered with 7.62 mm caliber rounds. The official reserves count for the FSRMN included the entire male population from the ages of 19-35 which comes out to nearly ten million men in reserve. This number is due to the fact that military service from the ages of 18-20 is required by the state meaning the majority of the male population is trained and capable of going into combat if it is necessary for the survival of the FSRMN. The SCGC and USAS would be set up with similar weaponry by the FSRMN. The SCGC fields 350,000 active duty troops to counteract the forces of Central America whilst holding a reserve of nearly one million. USAS liketwise field 250,000 active duty troops with a reserve of 1 million. These two militaries are bolstered by direct support from the TISA.

The Syndicalists

The situation was dire but the need to keep a straight face and glow of stability on her face took precedent to the womans fears. The world was toppling in around her and the window for action was being slammed shut by imperialists and ultra-nationalists. Now 47 years old, Lelia Abramo stood still as she shook the hand of a man in uniform who wore a gold medal emblazoned with the state seal around his neck. The man was honored with the medal for an act of bravery during the invasion of Bolivia. The act itself is of little consequence and the main attention should be put on the woman that put the man into action. The clicking of a camera shutter goes off and the two relax the hand shake before finally letting go. Lelia moves towards her personal guards, members of the FSG, who would escort her to her office. The office would be rather plain and barren. The walls would hold two pictures of her fallen brothers and above that a larger picture of Leon Trotsky. A blue flag barring a red star and palm trees sat in the corner and a ornate wood desk had been laid to rest in the center of the room.

Lelia sat at the desk and began to think over the geopolitical situation that would soon result in the deaths of thousands if not millions. The state of Sol had been growing ever comfier with its parent nation of Japan and movements along the Peruvian border did not improve the outlook. To the north, a counter revolutionary ensemble had formed in Central America which threatened the SCGC. In the Caribbean, a federation stood ready to prevent trade with the only ally of The FSRMN. The syndicalists.... Far more liberal and far less conscious of the ghost named counter revolution, the syndicalists had been instrumental in the founding of The FSRMN. They had stood as a trade and technological partner of The FSRMN since its conception and remain so today. Ensuring trade stability with them, and ensuring access through the Caribbean, would be vital to the survival of the federation. A man by the name of Valdomiro Justo Vasconcelos would be implanted into Puerto Rico to meet with syndicalist and possible caribbean officials to discuss the future of trade within the region. Lelia could only hope that these talks will bore fruit.

Havana, Cuba, United Caribbean Federation

The uninvited message from the Mediterranean Arms company came at a surprise. Not really Taking the message seriously, they sent back a simple reply.

"We appreciate your offer, and will indeed make use of it. In order to...ascertain the level of reliability we can count on from you, our first deal shall be simple. We are willing to pay an extra 5% to keep this deal under the table, so to speak."

1. No less them 150 Working Recoiless rifles and or shoulder launched Anti-tank weapons, their training manuals and ample supplies of ammo for them.

Unknown Location, Cuban Mountains.

The wet thud of a fist slamming in to a already battered jaw echoed through the dimly lit room. The flood lights were gone, leaving a single orange bulb to hang in the dank air. "All you need to do is speak and the pain ends Cobron, all you need to do is to tell me what I want to know." The man still kept quiet...they had been going for hours at this point and the Interrogator was getting angry. "ALL YOU NEED TO FUCKING DO IS SPEAK YOU TIGHT LIPPED PIGFUCKER!" A pause came between each word, only to be punctuated with a hard, wet thud of another blow.

Still, the man held out. The Interrogator was, while suitably pissed, actually impressed the fucker had held out this long. Finally, The Interrogator sighed and yelled in to the door. "Oie, fuckheads, get me a bucket of water, and a cloth." The agents did so in short order, though they were curious as to why he asked for such things. "You two, tip him back so that he's almost horizontal, I'm going to try something the Volkstradi taught me."

Doing so, he wet the cloth in the water before wrapping it tightly around the man, The spy, and picking up the bucket. "One last chance Gringo, tell me who you work for and I don't have to do this!" Still, nothing, other then a Muttered curse. Which a shrug to his fellow Agents he tipped the bucket over so that a constant stream fell on to the Spy's face. This sent him in to an almost instant panic, the knee jerk reaction of a Human mind being tricked in to thinking it was drowning. It was a brutal, ugly practice, one that would turn the stomachs of the junior agents to see the man struggle for his life.

Pausing the stream, The Interrogator spoke. "Got anything to say my friend? All you need to do is talk, and this ends before it get's worse." This drew a sob from the man, a deep, guttural sound mixed with the wheezing coughing of water in the lungs. "Welp, can't say I didn't try." With that, he tipped the bucket over and let more water spill out. Again the man began to frenzy and gag on the water, jerking and flexing in his best attempts to stop the sensation.

Letting it go on for a solid 10 more second, the Interrogator ceased the spill and let the man gasp for air. Before he could speak, the Spy did, "Please...just...no...no..." the Interrogator got close to his subject. "No more? All you need to do it tell me 3 things, it's so simple my friend, all so simple to keep the pain from coming back." The man gasp and sputtered before catching his breath. Finding his patience tested, the Interrogator picked up the bucket, only to be met by cries from the Spy. "The Syndicalists! I was hired by the Syndicalists...we all were...trained, recruited...most of us from the north..." Setting the bucket down, the Interrogator ordered the man to be put upright. Pulling up his own chair, he took out a cigarette and lit it. "Go on Cobron, and I might give you one of these." Waving the pack of Cohibas in the air. The man took a few breaths before continuing. "We...we were all recruited as a part of an operation to monitor radio traffic in the Caribbean, not just the Federation but of Mexico and South America as well, as a way to gather signal intelligence for the Government." He nodded, an Agent behind him writing everything down. "Any other signal houses? Eh?" There was a gleam in the eye of the Interrogator, the gleam of a man who had caught his prey and was simply toying with it. "Two...Two others...One in the Britannia Villas in the Cayman islands and I think the other was in Nassau..." The man hung his head low, defeated. The Volkstradi tactics worked after all, and while the Interrogator never thought he'd think it, but thank god for Volkstrad.

Keeping to his promise, he gently lodged a Cohiba in to the mans lips and lit it, watching as he drew in a long drag. "Here is what is going to happen, Amigo. You have value to us, and you want to stay alive. So here is what's going to happen. We are going to ask you question when we need them, and you will give us answers. I recommend, Amigo, that you answer us truthfully since in return for this we are going to move you to a nice little Safe house were you can sleep in a real bed and eat real food."

Taking a drag of his own cigarette, he went on. "Feed us disinformation and lie to us, then we ship you back home to America in pieces...to your family address."

Standing up to the Junior agent who had bneen writing the whole thing down, he spoke. "Get this to Havana, they are going to want to muster a few more raid teams, we have spies to hunt."

Rouzen Japan and territories

The calm of the last 10 years was largely impart of the harshest, most merciless, and perhaps brutal occupation that the world had ever seen. The massive population of 380 million across the territories before 1930 had plummeted during "The Great Conquest" and saw that millions upon millions had been marched to their deaths. At first it seemed all was uncalled for, a greater power surging through weaker nations and forcing them into utter submission like a whirlwind or tsunami. Unprecedented aggression many outsiders would say, but words the inhabitants would never hear, remorse never translated to them, and opinion never transferred.

The militant posturing of the Rouzen meant it prioritised its military might and aimed for all constructions and allocations to be for such. The people were ushered and forced into labor to complete immense projects with only the favoured and cooperative being rewarded. At first it all seemed so awry, mysterious even. Boat loads of people were taken and boat loads of people dropped off into new lands to work. Most of the time some would fight back, some would break rules, but then their necks would be twisted and chest riddled with bullets. None ever ran in these foreign lands because they were unknown to them. The beginning was cruel and harsh, the facilities and living quarters abysmal and the food tasteless and gloppy. But slowly it changed... In the course of 20 years, it all changed...

Electric grids would prop up for lighting, laid pipe and plumbing, groups and groups were departmentalised and ordered to secure lumber and mine ore. Quotas were hard... But never impossible. Only the rules and laws were immutable, not to be questioned unless one craved a bullet. Then shifts would alternate as the Engineers would explain and go into detail on the necessary specifications of buildings. Always emphasizing to take care in one's craftsmanship, as you are an example of your skill, your home is your reflection. City planning worked through with assigned administrative personnel who reiterated these visions and details down the ladder, and as soon as the quarters and facilities were finished... The people were told to rest, under the roofs they raised. Don't worry about your children they said, they will have an education. While their parents worked, both Japanese officers and soldiers whose families had moved shared the same programs as their "new neighbors".

At night always at 23:00 there were gunshots in the beginning... But now not so much.

Craftsmen and engineers from Hong Kong and Formosa were dispersed to every corner and port city of the empire and congregated with those from Japan to be instructed on specifications... Expectations. Shanghai, Tianjin, manchuko, Maraya, Vietnam, phillipines, Singapore. Massive shipyards propped up with haste. Architects and others flurried through to gain prestige, reward, and acceptance from the Main island and initiated their work on public works that aided the empire and in turn aided those that resided in the territory. All within 20 years...

This would be the history, the race for prestige among others.

This wouldn't have been possible without the army... Nor even the volunteers. Contingents incorporated and migrated to new lands where they were not from and watched over by the Ethnic Japanese. Mixed together indiscriminately and only spoken to only in Japanese, those that could not catch on and learn were relieved and added onto labor forces to assist in infrastructure. Those that did were given further responsibilities in stability and order, stifling the less amicable inhabitants and without doubt, putting them to death in the name of peace and harmonious order. Often times sent to battle together against the bandits of China or the Soviet remnants in Manchu, pride in the nation was pivotal to be nurtured first. Every man living side by side, highly acclaimed or unknown, in the dominion of the great emperor.

"Revere the emperor, destroy the traitors!"

Atleast on the surface. The RSJ did well to pit the others against one another in their non native lands and die for the Japanese cause all the while rewarding them to fall in love with the idea of becoming apart of the empire, even their children... Ripened to be perfect subjects.

Sol Chile

Having signed lease for procuring many vessels and equipment many times over since the great conquest. The 100,000 man strong army was well off with a sizeable navy and airforce. 1954 signing lease for a large aircraft carrier, A Shokaku class, but crewed by RSJN along with multiple purchases of vessels for themselves. Tiago Kaziyuko, War Chancellor of Chile, had grown increasingly aggressive and spiteful to his northern Peruvian neighbors who's ideology and incursion had time and time again crossed the limits.

Radio broadcasts from speakers lined in the streets repeated his speeches and newspapers headlined allegations and alluded to the national pride and heritage of the People. Their glory and Iron will to thrive and survive in the face of socialist thievery and petty enemies who only wished to highjack the culture and steal its fruits, erase its existence, and claim it as its own. Paraphrased rhetoric mirrored with shallow example of their cruel and harsh deeds to achieve their revolutions.

"Socialism is theft! We are proud of who we are, we own our future!" he furied.

Tiago Kaziyuko had grown weary of placating the Northern socialists to herding their rabble and cease their protests. Always some pubescently young "super educated" fraud preaching Socialist nuances to farmers and instigating behind a rally shout of "workers of the world unite!" only to set fire to their neighbors property, and at other times, hostile actions leading to mini skirmishes between guerilla of both sides in the more professional light.

The time for action was now, he felt it in his heart, the pride and national fervor that him, his people, were wholly capable of sending this menace to oblivion and bringing back the days without red threat. But how? Months were already spent rallying the peoples support to protect their individuality, both Sol states saw to it. The aid of the Rouzen further amplifying his confidence...

The past years arrival of advisors and officers of the RSJ had seen the army lifted to a higher standard in hopes to preserve the Sol States. War planes and ships of Great destructive abilitity. Not to mention the capacity to make use of a large carrier for both Chile and Argentina each.

Little had he known that So No Me agents, or more formerly known as Kenpeitai, had came along with the advisors and fell into the population to observe and guage public sentiments, only to report to the Dominion. They too behind closed doors suggested to the upper echelons that Chile was prepared to do whatever it takes to secure what was desired. Kaziyuko would be goaded and prodded into taking ridiculously rigid stances against the socialists with closed door promises of success. To take initiative, strike first.

Operation Minokasago
(Operation Lionfish)
The month of Action, Feb 1958

Treaties and deals had been signed to see that both Sol states would be granted increased trades and supplies from the RSJ. Cheaper rates and imports of munnition and equipments from all ranges of hardware. Coupled with the fact of solidifying rare ore exchange and joint embargo of the red states. Tension and animosity at all time highs, polls indicated that 85% of the people were in favor of a war to preserve their culture and rally together in the name of the Sol states. Even higher statistics inferred that the people were well aware as to how communism would poison their communities and avoid direct confrontation until the very moment that their position no longer preached tolerance and would move to sweep Sol off their feet.

Some would call it treacherous... However, national propaganda would call it valiant. To stand in the face of the pests that ate so much already. The Sol states were in danger and everyone new it. But waiting for the inevitable was no longer an option.

60,000 Chileans were mobilized and prepared for war, including the airforce and navy contingents to carry coastal point defence while the others... Partook in the first act of the perceived inevitable war. A pre-eminent strike upon the Peruvians backed by the promise and public declaration of the Rouzen siding with the Sol states and that interference in the conflict would result in direct recourse from the RSJ.

Armed with type 4 rifles, accompanied by type 92 battalion guns, and type 96 Howitzer among other load outs for mountain warfare from mines, grenades, engineer contingents and the like.

Tiago's speech

"My people, brothers and sisters of Sol. I speak to you today, to tell you of true evil. True evil preys upon your patience, your abdication, your tolerance. It insists that it is nothing to fret, nothing to fear. True evil preaches this agenda in hopes you turn a blind eye of acceptance and swears benign intention to hide its movement.

True evil preaches tolerance until it is no longer demanded to do so.. And then it strikes you down.

We have witnessed true evil in the past, the falling of our neighbors to this true evil. Skurrying about in the dark, building its strength only to devour everything in its path! Stopping at nothing, lest it meet another in which it must preach tolerance to yet again. The SCGC, The USAS... look what they have done? And now they preach tolerance behind the safety of political etiquette, but stab us when we are not looking through underhanded tactics and disruptions of our peace of mind and unity.

I say to you as your brother, we shall not wait to be looked at as food, nor preyed upon. It is our duty to the world and eachother to stand firmly in opposition to this evil and smite it before it smites us. Our history, our culture, our personal identities have never been questioned as evil. True testament to our character, I tell you! And it is known we are not the only ones threatened by this charlatan, this deceiver that poisons society and creeps into the community to rot it from within... There are others.

But we will not wait to be prey to this evil... Our tolerance has gone.

This day, February 11th, we declare war on the Peruvian state. As we will not await to be struck by evil. Heavens bless our brothers and sisters who champion this valiant endeavor.

3:43am February 12th

The city of Tacna would be bombarded by positions artillery from the city of Arica. Type 89 field artilleries would rain down upon the city by the hundreds from 12 miles out while 3 divisions marched across the chilean border. Mechanised infantry and tank divisions alike to blitz the city.

On the Pacific ocean, both the cities of Ilo and Mollendo would be assaulted by a large portion of the Chilean navy. Accompanied by the RSJN (Now Dubbed the SOLN) Akatsu, a Shokaku class carrier with maxed out with 100 ME 262 jet fighter bombers, 2 per squadron serving as recon planes. Within its crew was admiral Sugo, advisor to its Chilean captain and observer of the leased ship's handling and tactics. In its escort would be 4 Katori class cruisers, 2 Akizuki class destroyers, 2 Takao heavy cruisers, 10 Sentaka medium submarines, 2 i-400 class submarines as acting tankers for the 20 mini subs and 5 Otori torpedo boats. Protocol tactics of bombardment and blockade would be undertaken, sonar buoys and hydrophones would be deployed in every scenario to maintain active sonar readings while radar and air detection systems were active.

The navy would break into 3 separate parts.

The 1 destroyer, 2 torpedo boats, 1 heavy cruiser, and 2 cruisers would stay behind with the Carrier to assault Ilo and bombard the city while the fighters deployed to destroy the airfields and siege the city to cover the 1 entire divisions landing.

The 2 cruisers, 1 remaining heavy cruiser, and 3 torpedo boats would head to Mollendo with the i-400 subs at point along with 10mini subs establishing a defensive head 5 nautical miles and the remaining 10 torpedoing the docks. 2 divisions of ground forces would rush the Mollendo landing and assail the city.

The 10 Sentaka submarines would have been deployed the day before to take a longer route that panned 50 nautical miles out west of the Pacific and head north towards Lima. Coupled with 2 squadrons of Ki-201 deployed hours before the commencing attacks Closing in on it from beneath the depths, the notorious type 93 Lance torpedo was capable of being fired efficiently from 13 miles out, same as any other submersible in the fleet. Seemingly coming from no where or complimenting the devastation and chaos of the jets upon the stationed ships and Dockyards of Lima and it smother facilities. They would save half of their payloads and spread out in formation forming a blockade just north of Lima.

Due to the operational range of the Ki-201 jet fighters (spec'd from the ME 262) meant they could operate along any of the 4 locations and safely return to the Akatsu with time to spare. They would operate in squadrons of 12 and target airfields, power grids, radio comm towers, and obvious administrative or military facilities in that order. 1 squadron to Tacna, 2 squadrons to Oquegua further in land, 1 squadrons in Ilo, 1 squadron in Mollendo, and 2 squadrons to Arequipa. Each armed with 2 500kg bombs each.

The offensive would be headed by SOLN admiral Toryu, in fact he was individual who proposed this offensive. Dubbed operation Minokasago, phase 1 began.

The United Caribbean Federation...

"was a simple affair: in the Closing days of the first world war, faced with Cannibalization from their mother countries or over come by the Red tide, the Island nations of the Caribbean came together and chose a third option. They polity told their Colonial masters to Kindly go away, and gave a much louder and resounding Fuck off! to both Communist South America and Socialist North America. Of course the near instant cut off of resources caused many a problem, but the mass exportation of things like sugar cane, nickle, cobalt, and tobacco soon shot the Federation's Economy to one of the most prosperous in the world. Soon these same staple crops and resources were exported to the mother countries and the Socialists and the economy was booming, and still is." The Interrogator spoke to the spy as they sat in the dimly lit room.

It wasn't until he finished his little summery that the spy had fallen asleep.

He sighed.

Pacific Ocean

Travailing through the Panama Canal was a dangerous task for a submarine. Being one of only six active subs in service to the Federation's Navy meant that they were prized, valued assets. Four of these subs were of the older Type-7 Class, small efficient and nearly silent boats that had been stalking the waters of the Caribbean since the late 1940s. The other two were of a later class, the Type-21 and were used for different purposes.

Officially the Federation didn't recognize the existence of Muninn and Hugin until late 1956 and even at that, never gave any real clue as to what their mission was. In truth, all six boats had been purchased from Volkstrad as a part of a program to get the Federation's navy up to shape during and after the Second World War. The Type-7s were bought as is, with roughly 2-3 years of training and instructing personal paid for in advance as a way to compensate for the lack of experience.

On top of the subs, two other things were purchased: What was then, and still is, a top of the line sonar array for its larger two boats, and a collection of both Wake homing and passive Acoustic homing torpedoes for use against surface vessels. The type-7s were deployed to patrol the Caribbean, flying the Federation's Naval ensign proudly as they did their duty in a rather overt manner as to draw attention away from the more...capable assets.

Both Type-21s were modified when they came home, the invention of Anechoic tiles in the decades prior gave the already quiet Type-21s a lethal silence that had, on more then one occasion, surprised even it's own captains. This combined with its already stream lined hull, long legged operational range, powerful and accurate Sonar array and lethal torpedoes, Hugin and Muninn had earned their titles of "Ghost of the Caribbean".

Currently, the two submarines were holding off the coast of Japanese South America, having been caught rather off guard by the approaching carrier fleets of the Imperial navy so much so that they had both dived for nearly their maximum safe depth and shadowed the fleet, hoping to watch as these new comers conducted their maneuvers. Presently holding some miles away from the fleets at a steady 5 knots, the two subs weren't looking for a fight, but had tubes loaded and ready just in case.

Trans Afro-Levanti-Indian Unitary Coalition

Image

A lone crown in the jewels of the Indian Ocean, the TALIUC were formed in 1955 under many varied clauses: anti-imperialism from other continental powers, cooperation with one another economically to re-bolster one another and the global economy after years of European rule, having defeated them decades ago and managing to gain their independence, as well as forming a powerful defense pact to aid one another in times of need and to defend the nations around them: nations which are to rightfully join the Coalition as to strengthen their own global presence under the coalition's banner: one which can be potentially the strongest force in the world when combined together!

However, as for their meetings... they're of partial effectiveness: anonymous representatives of a founding state come together and meet on a distant ground, usually conferences being held at sea, in the middle of a generally rural area, or an island, kept away from the public eye as to divert attention from what's considered a clandestine meeting. However, the meetings do work: for one, the latest meetings have concerned the conflicts across the Atlantic, and the possible pro's and con's of aiding in the hostilities: while the Shogunate is an imperialist entity, their ideologies are better affirmed within the Coalition.

While the Shogunate is best left beside themselves for now, seeing as they hold a dominant hand in their theater, the other entities are possibly better options to deal with: giving aid to the Communists may seem daft at first, but the possible factors to aiding them as well as the Caribbean could lead to a more formal relation as the fighting dwindles down... at least, it's what they hope. For now, they decide to send off letters to the Imperial State of Sol, the Tupian Confederacy, the United Caribbean Federation, as well as even the Syndicates, to offer their aid in their oncoming conflicts as an independent power, as they ready to start a motion to prepare their own task force to intervene in the Americas in case anything comes through clearly from their messages.

Ten Seconds To Midnight

The number twelve, like an iron Atlas holding the world, sits stoically as the hands of god move around it. One hand larger than the other, they together guid the earth towards its final destination upon the striking of twelve. The world will go dark in that moment and nothing will truly matter. All the blood shed by empires and ideologies, by kings and presidents, by gods and man.... none of it will matter. All will return from whence it came as the universe collapses upon itself. The USAS soldiers, stationed in Ilo, that joyfully sat around a table playing cards with one another would not know that the black was upon them until it was far to late. A siren would be their only warning as they snapped to their feet and rushed outside with rifles in hand. The scene was chaotic as fighters scrambled to get to the area as the distant sounds of artillery fire could be heard from the sea. As soon as some of the fighters got to the air, unrecognizable fighters would become entangled with them. Shouting would pierce the ears of them men as they were rushed into a truck to be driven out of the city towards the mountains. They looked behinds them as the foreign fighters shredded through the air field... fuel canisters would explode... the injured screamed for help as their flesh peeled from their bones. The soldiers, who had been playing cards only five minutes ago, had now seen the grim reaper himself descend upon their home and he had raped it of its finest men.

The invasion came as shock to the men stationed along the coastal gun batteries that sought to defend the beach head from an attack of this scale. The batteries themselves, compiled of 340 mm naval guns, would open fire upon the distant heavy cruisers of Japanese descent. Barbed wire and other mobile defense positions would be set up on the beachfront upon the appearance of the warships. Hundreds of men would move into the beach to provide for the defense of the city as thousands of more troops began to pull civilians, themselves, and heavy armaments into the mountains above. Anti Air guns throughout the city would be focused on the fighters above, filling the air with explosions and chaos as USAS fighters scrambled to the air. Stationary artillery already positioned in the mountains would prepare to do the unthinkable if the invading force was to enter the city. If the beach and city fell, the order would be given to shell the beach head and cleared portions of the city without mercy. Troops would dig into the mountains, spreading out and making use of the rough terrain to make positions ideal for defensie warfare. Moving a large organized army past the city would become near impossible. Roads into the mountains would be lined with explosives and ambush locations would be designated. The invaders would take the town but they would not take the mountains.

Thousands of civilians would come to military positions where they would be issued simple submachine guns, similar to mp40s, to commit insurgency against the occupying forces. These individuals would be volunteers and reservists, many of them would be women. These civilians would hide in cellars, alleys, and homes with the sole intent of killing as many invaders as capable. Instruction manuals for the creation of improvised explosives would be widely distributed as the military and other civilians moved towards the mountains. USAS had officially endorsed a wide scale campaign of state terrorism in the city... and the civilians, trained from birth for such an insurrection, were ready to fulfill that campaign.

The Japanese fleet would find relatively little in the way of naval defense of the cities that it attacked. This was due to the belief that a combined effort of civilian insurrection and military activities in the mountains surrounding the cities would lead to a situation in which an invasion would not be sustainable. In fact, the majority of the USAS navy remained near Ecuador and were spared a devastating defeat at the hands of the Japanese fleet and fighters (Pearl Harbor but the US fleet is elsewhere and doesn't get crippled). Regardless, the extensive use of coastal batteries would ensure that accurate shelling of the cities by the cruisers and battleships would be unsustainable at best. Several direct hits on gun magazines would result in devastating fires on the invading naval forces.

This scene and these policies would extend throughout the other cities experiencing foreign incursion... The arbitrary line in the sand had been drawn at the foot of the Peruvian Mountains, the ball was in the court of the invaders

30,000 Bags of Blood

Troops stationed in the southern city of Tacna and surrounding areas would see a more hopeful situation than that of the coastal regions. The artillery fire from Arica was surprising to be sure but it was inaccurate and would cause more damage to civilians positions than those of the military which operated as normally. The Lluta river, marking a natural division in the border between USAS and Sol would become soaked with blood in the coming hours. The river, shallow and small as it is, would force nearly 30,000 men to cross at several bridge positions in Chacalluta. This case would be especially true if motorized infantry were used. The natural response was to have artillery positioned just north of the river to heavily pound the arbitrary line that it created, especially the bridges. Heavy bombers and fighters from Tacna would further be dispatched to destroy bridges and target area of high troop concentrations. Twenty tanks (similar to M48 Pattons) would advance towards the river with the intent of engaging mobilized infantry trucks and mowing through foot soldiers. The 5k stationed troops in the area would be moved into several lines of defensive positions south to the city as foreign troops attempting to cross the border would be efficerated into puffs of red blood. A secondary defensive position of 5k infantry and mobile artillery would form along the river north to Tacna. Due to the risk of naval incursion on the front, naval bombers and fighters would be scrambled to fly constantly above the waters to search for enemy vessels. If found, naval bombers and fighters would engage immediately.

The Wolf Pack

The two Subs would sit for a while, shadowing the Japanese Carrier Formation for some time. They were, in a sense, caught with their pants down. Their patrol rout would normally have taken them through the canal and down the western coast of South America, making port and restocking on supplies as needed. More often then not they were simply cruising along, exercising and training as a navy during peace time should. While the South Americans were indeed the definition of...Control Freaks, the subs would apply for permission before hand and more often then not have it be granted before hand.

Once down the Coast, they would cross the horn of Argentina and enter the South Atlantic, making their way up the Eastern coast as well and doing much of the same training and exercising as needed as they skirted the territorial Waters of the USAS and general respect their laws. Reaching Barbados, were a Federation tanker awaited to refuel them, they would complete their 14,000 mile round trip with ease, having no recorded accidents or combat actions beyond a few awkward close calls with a few fishing trawlers in the past.

How ever, this Fleet presented a problem. In order to make this trip, one that nearly consumed their entire fuel and battery supply, they would need to keep to a scheduled course, and having to swing wide around a task force as large as this would simply consume to much fuel. This combined with the rather advanced state of Japanese Anti-submarine Warfare tactics made slipping through the formation an almost suicidal task.

That pack commander, A Jamaican captain by the name of Alexander Ross, made a decision. Their current position had them at just 23 miles from what he had ascertained to be the picket formation of the Japanese formation. "Helmsmen, give us 9 knots and planes up full, prepare to surface. Communications, Once we reach 50 feet below the surface extend radio mast and announce our selves."

Soon enough, the gunmetal Grey form of the Hugin broke the waves and made a steady 8 knots for a few hundred yards before announcing her self the radio. Per protocol, the Muninn ran silent 1 to the north west at 150 feet, listening for any signs of trouble.

A Mysterious Signal

Chaos filled the radio operations room of the central USAS command center as it became clear that an invasion was clearly occuring on the coastal cities of USAS. Interestingly though, a sudden signal appeared off the coast near the supposed Japanese fleet. The signal was of such interest that the operators immediately patched into it and send a message of their own in order to determine the origin and its use.

"This is USAS Central Command, state your origin."

The command center waited for a return message in silence.

A Mysterious Signal

Captain Ross was rather taken back by the communication from the mainland and wasn't planning on speaking to the USAS Central Command. "Ah...yes, right. This Captain Ross of the FNS Hugin, Commander of Federation Task Group 23, we are currently executing the pre-approved Training cruise through out the Pacific. Our situation seems to be...well, a "Between a Rock and a Hard place"."

The Beaches of Ilo

The whizzing thunder of the coastal batteries played against the tune of the SOLN artilleries. At first, the Akizuki destroyer and 2 Katori light cruisers enflamed the Cape of darkness that met the seas horizon, the undiscernable difference of ocean and night sky. 8 100mm cannons and 8 140mm cannons flew indiscriminately into the city line while torpedoes flew ahead into the docks at whatever vessels were there. Despite the absence of the navy, the explosions and fires would surely add to the havoc Ensuing.

As the daihatsu landing craft surged forward with the full division of men, white streaks at first thin, then thickening like zebra stripes in the water... The Peruvian coastal defence would notice a rather immense gap between both sources of naval artillery. Like a balloon popping and releasing its gas, symmetrical lines illuminated in synchronicity further back than the other cannons.

Pmff Pmff pmff. There was the briefest silence as sound waves finally reached the city itself, the shock wave invisible in the night sky, rings of smoke cloaked in the evenings embrace. then it came.

KRAWHHHHH

The heavy takao cruiser unleashed its rabid payload onto positions of coastal batteries that gave themselves away to retaliate at the cruel ocean's wake. 10 miles at sea, the 20cm/50 monstrosities that made the armament of the heavy cruiser were fired at a 5° angle for maximum impact velocity and RPM of their HE explosive shells. 4 rounds per minute from 10 cannons would emblazen those fool Hardy enough to signal themselves. This would have a profound impact on the moral of the soldiers looking forward, with full knowledge of the angry beast that spewed them forth!

"Meiyo no tame ni,-koku no tame ni!" they cheered! For honor, for country!

The whirling jets zooming above with quad machine cannons giving a dazzling display, as if shooting stars fell from the sky down on top of the enemies before them. The wails of their 500kg incendiary bombs fell on top of the city without prejudice, cooking many of those that chose to hide away in their cellars in a meek attempt of ambushing their attackers. To their benefit, the AA guns on defence were like seamstresses sowing away in maniacal lines at any and everything they thought wasn't a cloud, which held advantage for the Ki-201 jet fighters but the heavens can't bless everyone.

The sound curved steel grinding the sand of the beach was godsend to those that made it. The blitz gave many landing crews the edge they needed but once the defenders were uplifted from their vertigo, coastal defence rained down and point of resistance sprang up...

Corporal Fukira, brown eyed and short cut hair hoisted his rifle to his should and fanned out with his squad, immediately firing his full 10 round clip at those that wished to prevent their kick door operation at the beach. At 23 years old, he'd never seen anything like this. The shouting, the screams, the thunder from gun powder, gun and cannon. Panting frantically he dived prone and reached to his side to pull another magazine for his type 4. A man beside him, produced a ringing noise as a bullet from the resistance crashed into his helmet and flipped him backwards from the whiplash.

"Daijōbu!? Daijōbu!?" he shouted.
After a brief moment a groaning reply came from his brother in arms, "Haiii.... Watashi wa jū o otoshimashita, watashi no jū wa dokodesu ka?" foolishly he sat up while looking for his rifle when a whistling thud crammed into his chest. His eyes widened, Fukira, wiping his eyes from the sand that had kicked up saw the whites of his comrades eyes as he simply sat still on his knees. Slumped. This was the first occasion of witnessing death. The brief pause ended when the resistance continued to pump the man's body with shots but the propping of his legs simply allowed his body to maintain an upright position while the bullets entered and exited his chest and shoulders.

Fukira would snap out of his hypnosis and load his gun and jump back up and follow the charge. A Sargent was shouting for the advance to continue. The entire division was making immense progress due to the thousands landing against the hundreds defending. SOLA soldiers closed in and lobbed grenades at their opponents while laying down fire. The SOLA were not without sub machine guns or LMG either, type 100 sub machine guns and type 99's were present among the engineer and heavy weapon divisions making land fall.

Trrd Trrd Trrd, kraw kraw kaa kaathe fire and blood gave the sound a taste, gun smoke and devastation... This was something Fukira would never forget. The feeling of his boot transferring from sand to brick pavement never felt so quaint... The sound of shattering glass as Fukira witnessed a curley haired woman bust through a rifle and begin firing. Instinctively he split for cover, not believing what he was seeing. "Kore wa nani!?" his mind shouted. His chest puffing in and out as he waited for the crescendo of bullets to end hailing from the mp40. He couldn't believe it... What the fuck... His teeth gritt together and his grip tighted around the stock of his gun. He didn't even hear the click of the empty mag, he just felt it was empty because it stopped.

"JIGOKU NI OKURIMASU!!" HE shouted as he flipped over the small wall's ledge that granted him cover. In the open street he paced forward while firing. He didn't see that the woman was being pushed aside for another individual to pop out and fire... It was beyond him. His shots sprang through the broken window and plugged the woman square in the heart and into the face of the other... Quickly, someone yanked his shoulder and pulled him aside and back into cover as shots sprang toward them.

Ilo was dying...

Much to their amazement, women and men in plain clothing began to spring out with fire arms from windows and openings. The adrenaline and panic of this sight ensured the SOLA soldiers began to shoot indiscriminately at anything that dared to move. Pets, strays, people... Even children. An emotion surfaced in the psyche of the men that they were entirely unfamiliar with, killer instinct mashed together with survival and formed an entirely different personality of the men participating in the assault. Soon enough they began to simply hurdle grenades into houses and basement windows or stairwell and merely wait to see if they heard screams, entering after regardless and pelting anything that vaguely looked human with bullets.

Taking the beach head was relatively quick it seemed. Unaware that the USAS intended to demolish Ilo upon entering its city limits. Battalions congregated and spread ort so the raining artillery on the beach would be minimized. Comms to the command carrier relayed back positions of AA emplacements along with artillery that was divulged to them from the recon planes above. Units dispersed with some rushing forward for positions and others kicked in to houses, shops, and buildings to clear them of combatants. Fire fights in the street occurred at every corner, but that didn't stop the advance...

Back at the carrier, SOLN AKATSU, Captain Admiral Toryu was notified of an open channel that was detected on the communication radios. Naturally, they opened to listen in... The announcement of the Sub party further out came at great alarm but what followed was even more peculiar.

Captain Toryu looked over at the RSJN advisor, furled brow and confused. RSJN Admiral Sugo waffed his hand for Toryu to respond. In accented Japanese he responded over the static radio channel,

"USAS Central... Tis is Captain Admiral Jisue Toryu, commander of the SOLN Akatsu... Greetings Cuban Vessel Hugin. I assume you are here to insist that the USAS surrender with haste and and lay down arms?" *indistinct Japanese in the background*

This brought a muffled chuckle from the helmsmen that was quickly quieted by the Captain. With a Clearing of this throat, Captain Ross Continued. "Greetings, Admiral Toryu, I am Captain Ross. Fortunately good sir I am under the notion that the Federation is not involved in these hostilities. I radioed you in order to gain your permission to come to with in no less then 15 miles of your formation in order to Stay with in our course. We normally would swing wide per standard naval practice, how ever our rather long journey calls for as little deviation from the course as fuel consumption is a concern."

Still, he felt some what unsatisfied.

Such was his mission this fine day, taking pictures and mapping the Gulf Coast from just outside the Territorial zone of North America.

When the message was received a call was made immediately to the residence of De Villas, he himself busy in reviewing a liter of papers on his desk, documents pertaining from construction efforts to letters sent to him from legislator and general alike on both the state of the workforce and the military.

When he received the telegram which due to the nature of how had been received would be personally handmailed to him from the Ofincia de Defensa Nacional. Intrigued but in disbelief he would look at the simple telegram for the better part of ten minutes before writing down a message. He had his doubts but whoever had wired the message contacted Unionista directly, guerillas more likely than not, hopefully a distant and remote millionare he could woo and rescue.

Hakkō ichiu
八紘を掩うて宇と為さん

-Emperor Jimmu, 1st emperor of Japan
National foundation day, Feb 11th 1958

Ironically, the Chilean offensive against Peru was commenced on the same day as the foundational day of the empire. Celebrations across the empire were held in good faith as Japanese soldiers extended their well wishes to their comrades and neighbors. It wasn't necessary to commemorate the day for non-Japanese, but it certainly found its way to the front doors, eyes, and ears of those who were not fully ethnic Nippon.

Since its initial stages however, agendizing the unified asiatic nations, the day came to be held in high regards for those that clamored to the idea and notion of a unified sphere of prosperity. A day that entailed celebration of the spiritual values of the East in opposition to the crass materialism of the West, and their constant focus and perspectives of it. Fundamentally, the Shogunate realized that dedicated development for a "collectivist direct voluntarism" to unify people and leaders would be the simplest way to maintain order and civility. Harmony with the working classes would be sought by the abolition of the aristocracy and austerity for the Imperial House to assure the territories of its geniality.

The Rouzen Aid Association launched in 1930 had already enacted the national mobilisation law which effectively nationalized strategic industries, the news media, and labor unions, in preparation for the great conquest's undertaking. Labor unions were replaced by the Nation Service Draft Ordinance, which empowered the government to draft civilian workers across the territories into critical war and infrastructural industries. Society was mobilized and indoctrinated through the National Spiritual Mobilization Movement, which organized patriotic events and mass rallies, and promoted slogans such as "Yamato-damashii" (Japanese spirit) and "Hakkō ichiu" (All the world under one roof for non ethnics) to support Japanese martial laws propagating a more fortuitous future for all under the empire. To reinforce these taxing hurdles that afflicted the people, the Imperial Rule Assistance Association helped maintain public order and provided certain public services via the tonarigumi neighborhood association program. Playing a direct role in increasing productivity, monitoring rationing, and organizing civil securities for those being migrated and shifted around the empire. The association itself being a crutch to provide those with complaints a reasonable channel to seek improvements... Within reason of course. Nipping dissent and gripes in the bud before they flourished. Introducing the capable citizens of other territories to be included in the employ of the association would further distance the belief of segregation or foul play. Even slightly militarizing them, with its members donning navy blue-colored uniforms. The purpose being the eventual integration and replacement of law enforcement aspects of the empire.

In March 1942, Supreme Chancellor, Rouzen Kimaru moved to eliminate the influence of elected politicians firstly in japan proper by establishing an officially sponsored election nomination commission, which restricted non-government-sanctioned candidates from the ballot. After the 1942 Japanese General Election, all members of Diet were required to join the Yokusan Seijikai (Rouzen Assistance Political Association), which effectively made Japan a one-party state. At the onset of military takeovers, a brief period would settle until the commissioners of each occupied region would be imposed to a similar process at the behest of a screening by RSJ generals occupying the territory. After which both parties would work collectively to nationalise and uplift productions and capabilities of the territory, assisted by the Rouzen Aid Association and RSJA.

Following this template, February 11th would become known as The "New Asia Day" celebration to remember the sacred mission of extending influence to nearby Asian nations and coming together to form one under a unilateral umbrella. The Rouzen government, ultimately organized the Nation Service Society to group all the trades unions in the country. All syndicates of the "Yen Bloc Workers Federation" were integrated into this controlling body and absorbed territorial assets along the way and collectively expanding the aims of their purview.

The Press and other communication media were managed under the Information Department of the Home Ministry. Radio Tokyo was charged with disseminating all official information around the world. The radio transmitted in English, Dutch, three Chinese dialects, Malay, Thai, as well Japanese to Southeast Asia; and the Islamic world had programs broadcast in Hindi, Burmese, Arabic, English and French. In Hawaii, there were radio programs in English and Japanese. Other daily transmissions were to Europe, South and Central America, eastern areas of South America and the USA, with Australia and New Zealand receiving broadcasts too.

The official press agency Domei Tsushin was connected with the Peace Preservation Department" (an antisubversive police section established to prosecute all local communists who proposed a socialist form of government) press agencies, Local and Manchukoan newspapers such as Manchurian Daily News (Japanese-owned) were under the control of these institutions and only published officially approved notices and information. In practice, creating Japan as the main beneficiary of an Asian Monroe doctrine but regardless, set and aimed to meet the needs of its subjects while suppressing any candid desires that didn't fit the perspective of the Shogunate. These aims were met with monetary specialists in Tokyo who directed and managed programs of coordinated monetary reforms in Taiwan, Korea, Manchuria, Maraya, Phillipines, Burma, Vietnam, and the peripheral Japanese-controlled islands in the Pacific. These reforms aimed to foster a network of interlinked and integrated political and economic relationships that made the co-prosperity sphere of the Yen Bloc un severable without dire repercussions, with only the Shogunate RSJ forces to protect it.

"Captain Ross, this is USAS Central Command, why dont you do us a favor and a sink some of those Jap Bastards... And as for you, Captian Toryu.... Go to hell!"

The signal would suddenly dissapear, disconnecting all parties

Admiral Toryu was leaned forward on his fists, rest against the desk in the command bridge of the SOLN Akatsu. The sudden cut in of the USAS Command brought a smirk across his face. Despite all this, the formality of the current situation and the request of it was not the most comfortable of situations. Speaking into the receiver, Captain Toryu replied,

"Captain Ross of the Federation Vessel Hugin, you are not cleared to approach. This is an active military operation and your presence is most skep-" he would be interrupted by a firm grip on his shoulder from the short stalky RSJ advisor, Sugo. His thick Mustache and piercing gaze matched Toryu's. Toryu however had not let go of the transmission and was still speaking into the live Channel, unaware that the USAS had disconnected. Sugo then firmly spoke in a Suggestion that sounded more as a command. Faintly in the receiving end of the Hugin they would hear Sugo's remark.

"USAS ga watashitachi o azamukunara, koko de no watashitachi no taigi wa yori kyōko ni narudarou to iu wareware wa, sore o yoi ken'i no ue ni motte imasu. Karera ga tsūka dekiru yō ni shimasu."

After a brief pause, Toryu would resume speaking.

"Federal Vessel Hugin, your are free to pass. No less than 15 miles. I will relay to our blockades north that you are passing, you are to maintain speed at 15knots and depth of 100meter. Any deviation from this depth or speed will result in hostile recourse. Over and out."

The Wolf Pack.

The Captain smiled and replied, "Roger that admiral, Godspeed and Fair seas, Hugin out. Helmsmen, take us down to 95 feet and maintain 9 knots, signal the Muninn to continue at silent running and fallow our course. We don't need to give them a reason to shoot."

With that order, they two subs would continue their courses.

The gulf of Mexico.

The flight was going fine, the Canberra bomber running all to well as the bombardier took general geography of the Gulf states, skirting the territorial waters of the USA and doing their best to not draw attention to them selves. Despite this, he noticed a pair of dots well off and below them. At first he thought this to be a simple pair of birds until he noticed they were nearly keeping speed with them and getting bigger. "Red, we got two approaching fast, can't tell what they are but im sure they are here to escort us ho-" Thorn was cut short by a sudden, loud boom. Snapping over, he noticed his left engine was spouting flame and debris, and his wing was holed. "Jesus almighty, we are hit and aflame!" He heard a string of Accented french curses before his Co-pilot and bombardier, A french women by the name of Scarlet, began to blare out a mayday message as the bird began to loose altitude and gain speed. Thinking fast, he reached down and flipped a switch. This would open a small window in to the compartment were the film for the cameras and exposed them to sunlight, destroying the film in the process.

As they began to almost literally drop out of the the sky towards the coast he made a snap decision. "Red, get your chute, We are going to bail!" As they plummeted he caught a flash of what he guessed to be US Air guard jets and frowned. He watched as Red climbed up next to him and with a nod from him, pressed the emergency release button on the canopy causing a pair of pyrotechnic charges to blow the seals and shoot the wind screen up and away from the craft. At 15,000 feet Red all but Jumped out of the cockpit, the wind whipping her about for a bit before she pulled the chord and opened her chute.

Thorn had a sudden realization that caused his heart to sink as he fell, As he neared 3-4000 feet he could see the ground clearly now, the early morning sun illuminating the populated area he was over. With a scowl and yanked hard on the yoke and the flaming bird jerked to the left in an attempt to avoid landing on some poor family's house. While working, this caused the left wing to snap clear off and the bird began to roll hard.

The last thought through Lt. Thorn's mind, "Bugger."

Some were over Alabama...

Red watched in quiet horror as what remains of her bird smashed hard in to the ground near the coast, fearing the worst for her long time co-pilot and mentor vanished in to a fireball along the beach. Snapping her self out of it, she took stock of were she was heading and curse, for as she got lower and lower she made out a dense thicket of pine trees below her that would make for a rough landing. Trying her best to steer clear, the winds coming off the Gulf blew her hard off course, landing in to the thicket and cutting through several thick branches before he chute caught on one, leaving her dangling some 15 feet in the must air.

"Merde."

Reaching for her survival knife, she cut her self free from her harness and dropped to the ground, rolling and smacking her head in to a tree, the Unconscious Red slumping down in to the soft dirt.

Securing the Deal

The uninvited message from the Mediterranean Arms company came at a surprise. Not really Taking the message seriously, they sent back a simple reply.

"We appreciate your offer, and will indeed make use of it. In order to...ascertain the level of reliability we can count on from you, our first deal shall be simple. We are willing to pay an extra 5% to keep this deal under the table, so to speak."

1. No less them 150 Working Recoiless rifles and or shoulder launched Anti-tank weapons, their training manuals and ample supplies of ammo for them.

Gracias de La Republicca, I am Her chosen protector and the Son her children have chosen to lead us. I cannot give more thanks for your interest I request that if you have the means to procure 250 SMGs, Czech and Israeli. We are willing to pay their full price and we will procure them at [dslka]. Should you send men or not leave a flag.

Quickly, the Crete Office scanned over its inventory and began to prepare the requested items to be sent over. The small arms were easy, having acquired a significant stock of guns that were removed from service soon after the Winter Revolution, and all things considered, the order was quite small, so sending a number of vz. 23 SMGs would suffice. The Caribbean order was slightly more problematic, but doable. There was a stock of LG 42s and Panzerschrecks, as well as both 7.5 and 10.5 cm LG40 recoilless rifles also acquired from Volkstrad. After all, plenty of weapons begin to float around in wartime, especially civil conflicts. It was relatively easy to acquire second-hand from smugglers in that time, and Mikhaelos Industries never misses an opportunity. As for the ammunition and manuals, well, those would be of little trouble given the products concerned...

To both parties, the message was sent:
"Your orders have been received and will be delivered as instructed. Expect package arrival to be discrete and arrive within a period of one month. Thank you for your patronage, and please contact us for any future procurements."

Project 0843

Doctor Adrian Romanescu was elated. At long last, after years of private research and attempts to hook the attention of the state, his proposal had been accepted. Since the first nuclear detonation in 1952, Volkstrad had quickly worked to develop its own nuclear program. This was a rational, uncontroversial decision to make. However, delivery of said systems was another matter. Creating a bomb was one thing, however, the military had been unsatisfied with this solution. It was too easy for a bomber to be shot down, potentially, and the payload to be lost should atomic force be required. To prevent this, fighter cover would be required, and thus, Volkstrad's strike capacity was limited to the range of its fighters, and their capacity to attain air superiority. Since 1954, the majority opinion, and thus the majority of resources, had been put towards developing the V-2 Rocket towards longer ranges and the ability to carry a nuclear payload. This project was making good progress, and it seemed on the verge of breakthrough.

However, as with all things, there were differing opinions as well. Soon after its initial development in the 40s, Romanescu had noticed an slight, minor oddity about the Ho 229 fighter-bomber: the jet appeared to have a slightly-decreased radar signature than other aircraft in service. Every now and then afterwards, he wondered what the cause may be for such an occurrence, yet it was not until the discussion over alternative delivery mechanisms arose that he gave it serious thought. The military's concerns had been the fallible nature of the bomber in the face of detection and interception by enemy forces and thus the limitation of its fighter aircraft. So, what if you could make the bomber simply disappear? If it were possible to reduce the radar signature of a craft to zero, then in low light and at high altitude, one could strike his enemies without fear of reprisal. Man cannot strike down what he cannot see. All one had to do was discover the means of how to make this possible.

In the end, though, it was the V-2 Enhancement Program that received the funding and support of the government, and his grand schemes were left as mere words on a page. Despite this rejection, Romanescu continued to work on his research as a private side-project, learning what little he could on his own. However, while the military rejected his proposals initially, the Stasi had expressed unofficial interest in his research. After all, being able to deliver a payload of ordnance, supplies, or manpower covertly from the air was of great interest to such an organization. So, for the next several years they kept in contact and eventually began to provide actual financial support, allowing his experiments to become more effective and conclusive as he laboured to crack the secret of "stealth", and the more his research advanced, the more the money flowed in. The best news of all had just came in: He was to work full time on his research and gather a team to develop the idea. Money was of no concern. All he had to do was work and be very, very quiet.
I'm not actually a communist.
