Dinzkop, near border of Mozambique

Image

Dinzkop was a small town, situated near a small river in North Province, South East Africa. The village had been founded at the turn of the century by Boer refugees following the Second Boer War, and this heritage was what made Dinzkop an anomaly in North Province. The town's population of around 560 was predominantly (some 98%) Afrikaans speaking whites, and while white majority towns were not all that uncommon in the other provinces, the same could not be said about the 95% black North Province where the white population was mostly to be found either in the Urban areas or as isolated farmsteads, rather than a single concentrated community. Indeed, it was the only such town in the entirety of the province. This small village however, would become the ground zero for events that would threaten to plunge the entire nation into a full scale civil war.

A single older man sat at the top of the town's old wooden water tower, just barely able to read his newspaper in the dying light of the sunset. He finished the paper and shook his head. Crazy times. Communist protests in the cities, a riot in a township, racists in parliament doubling down on their nonsense and dreaming of the return to apartheid, while the communists and socialists continued with their complaints that the government wasn't doing enough to correct the injustices of the past. He set down the paper and picked up the rifle that lay next to him. Out here, the people of Dinzkop had their own problems. A few nights ago, gunshots where heard coming from the direction of several isolated farmsteads late in the night. Most people out here owned multiple firearms and hearing the odd gunshot or two from hunters or farmers scaring off local predators from their herds was the norm, however these gunshots were larger in number than what was usually heard. To be safe, several people decided to drive over to the farms the next morning to make sure all was well, and what they found was completely horrific. The first farm's single owner was found dead on the edge of his property, mutilated and torn to pieces and almost completely unrecognizable. The second farm was even more horrific, with the entire family found to be in much the same state. Horror and shock gripped the town once the people who discovered them returned, and the provincial authorities were immediately contacted. However due to the remoteness of the town, it would most likely take a day or two for them to arrive. That night, the (not so distant) roar of a lion or lions could be clearly heard. While extremely rare, it was not unheard of for lions to kill people out in this area and there were even several incidents where they would enter homes and attack people inside them. Even homes that were situated right in the middle of towns and villages. Seemingly having the mystery solved, the village set fires and built a makeshift kraal of thorn branches around the edge of town and decided to keep at least one armed person to keep a watch for extra safety.

Hours after night had fully descended, the man scanned the flat land surrounding the village, dimly let by the flickering fires dotted around the perimeter. In the distance, four large objects were moving slowly in the direction of town, making the mans heart jump when he saw them. Fearing the worst, he loaded the hunting rifle and brought the scope up to his eye. He hesitated...they were cars...pickup trucks to be exact...with people standing in the beds. He had barely realized what they were when screams were heard from the other side of town accompanied by shattering glass and automatic gunfire. At the sound of commotion, the vehicles turned on their lights and picked up speed, driving straight into town while the machine guns on the back began firing at the homes and buildings around them. Yells and shouts arose as what seemed to be hundreds of armed men broke from their hiding places completely surrounding the village and began firing RPGs and throwing molotovs at buildings. Shocked, the man in the water tower began firing at the unknown attackers, bringing several down until an RPG was fired at the tower, silencing the shooter as the raid continued on the town.

When the provincial authorities arrived in the town the next day, they could have never have imagined what awaited them. The town was a burned ruin, with almost every single one of the Cape Dutch style structures burned to the ground or reduced to rubble. The worst part, however, were the bodies. Hundreds of them. It appeared as though every single man, woman, and child had been massacred. Most were found still in their homes or even beds, evidently killed before they even knew what was happening. They had been mutilated, as if mauled by wild animals. Others however, were found in a group against a wall as if executed, and in one instance, several villagers bodies were found in the general store with the building surrounded by dozens of what evidently were the perpetrators of whatever had happened. On the ruins of the town hall was painted a crude symbol of what appeared to be a Kalashnikov crossed with a tapanga-a symbol commonly used by the Shona People's Revolutionary Front.

The Dinzkop Massacre became breaking news across the nation and abroad, rocking it to the core. While minor attacks or even murders against white farmers by groups such as the SPRF had sporadically occured since the 70s, nothing on this scale had ever occured. As the detail of the symbol discovered was released, the SPRF officially claimed responsibility for the attack. SPRF leader Mayeso Mandlate made an official statement in the following days:

Image

For too long have the native and rightful people suffered under the yoke of the South East African government. For too long have the whites presumed to enforce their will upon us, exploiting us and segregating us, failing to even consider us people. They say that apartheid ended in '98. I say to that, where is the change? We remain exiled to townships and slums. The disparity between the blacks and whites remain. They government drones on about seeking change nd rectification of the apartheid era, yet where is this change two decades later? Where is this unity? There can be no unity when the anti-communist white government prevents any actual policies and ideas from passing. The fools, white-lovers, and puppets of the United Communist Party naively think that they can play the whiteman's game in parliament and bring the change that is needed, and are useless. Worse than useless, they are traitors and collaborators. Only through revolution can we be free. The time has come for a nation for the people, and by the people. Only through revolution and violence will we be heard and liberated. As of today the former provinces of Groensberg, North, and Fallsland are officially the sovereign territory of the SPRF, and we will not rest until every white invader, every man, woman, and child is purged from our lands, and the institutions and supporters of the government are expelled. Dinzkop is only the beginning.

One Boer, One Bullet!

Image

Attacks against government assets and whites in the claimed provinces began to occur and escalate in the days following the declaration, and the President of South East Africa, Ricus Van Zyl declared a state of national emergency. The South African Army and Airforce had immediately begun deployment to the north of the country. Groups of citizens of all races in remote towns of the three claimed provinces began taking up arms and forming "Kommando" militias in the interest of self defense against the rising number of attacks by the SPRF and allied groups. At the encouragement of the far-right party Kring vir Broederskap en Trots, white-nationalist paramilitary groups began forming and have begun arriving in the volatile area in increasing numbers under the guise of defending villages and farms. However, reported violence against black villages and civilians have begun to come in, with the suspected perpetrators being members of these groups.

South East Africa is a powder keg, and it seems that the fuse has already been lit with no hope of extinguishing before it explodes.

CONFEDERATE BROADCASTING NETWORK NEWS: COMMUNIST REBELS MASSACRE TOWN IN SOUTH EAST AFRICA

“Good afternoon, I’m Barbara Jennings with the Confederate Broadcasting Network News Channel. Our top story is the horrific massacre committed last night in South East Africa by the Shona People's Revolutionary Front, a communist rebel group. Last night the SPRF entered the town of Dinzkop and murdered hundreds of people. So far the authorities have not found any living survivors, and it seems likely the entire town has been wiped off the map. Mayeso Mandlate, leader of the Front, issued a statement calling for the genocide of all white inhabitants of South East Africa:

…we will not rest until every white invader, every man, woman, and child is purged from our lands, and the institutions and supporters of the government are expelled. Dinzkop is only the beginning.

“The Atlantian government has not yet issued an official statement, but President Jim Gilmore took to Twitter this morning to express sympathy for the people of South East Africa and condemn the Revolutionary Front.”

Image

“A detachment of Atlantian Marines is stationed in South East Africa, operating under an agreement signed by a previous South East African administration which permitted Atlantian troops to assist the government in conducting counter-insurgency operations against the Revolutionary Front. The current administration under President Ricus Van Zyl has been attempting to negotiate an end to the Atlantian presence, but it has been unable to muster the political support thanks to the popularity of Atlantian troops, who have been working to protect communities threatened by communist terrorism.”

Image

The horn blared loud and sharp as the driver of the lead Humvee laid down on the center of the steering wheel. In front of the military vehicle, a beaten up pickup swerved suddenly to avoid being rammed head-on by the tan-colored light vehicle. The driver of the pickup, a black man, honked his own horn in reply and shouted a string of obscenities in a language none of the Atlantian Marines in the two Humvees understood. The soldiers manning the heavy machine guns mounted on the roofs shouted back their own insults, hurling racial slurs and other coarse language at the driver and the other South East Africans riding in the back. The two Humvees sped on the left their road-rage victim sputtering in their dust by the side of the road.

Ungrateful was the kindest epithet that Major William Heartly used to describe the people of this godforsaken land. The local whites for the most part were spineless and two-faced: they feared the black residents who they had oppressed for generations, but they hated the Atlantians who helped them keep a lid on things because the foreign soldiers reminded them of their unpleasant past. There were a few good folks, like the boys in the Kommandos who supported the Kring fir Broderscrap and Tots or whatever they called it. They understood the labor that was required to maintain civilization and proper order. If they were in charge, the Atlantians wouldn’t be limited to a single base and barely permitted to operate freely in the country. President Van Zyl wanted them gone, as if they were the problem and not the damn dark bushwhackers out there butchering families.

And then there’s the ones who don’t have the guts to own up to it. People like the ones in the truck that had barged into the path of a clearly in-a-hurry military convoy. Black citizens who thought that their skin would save them, when the SPRF was making it clear they’d kill anyone who didn’t mindlessly fall into step with their godless communist party line. Didn’t these people realize that the Atlantians were the only thing stopping the Front from coming out of the jungle and slaughtering them all? Sure, a few boys had gotten rowdy with some local women, and occasionally they had a bit too much to drink while on leave, but that was how soldiers were. People who understood that also understood you had to tolerate some taking of license when those taking it were putting their lives on the line to defend the people too weak or squeamish to defend themselves.

The Humvees rolled into Camp Dependable, the last bastion of the Confederacy of Atlantian Dominions in South East Africa. Under the last government there had been a whole string of bases, spaced out like the bars of a cage keeping the rebels contained in the hinterlands. Then the whole system had fallen to pieces and the new government had kept insisting that the Atlantian mission be downsized, reduced, scaled back, limited. Only a few clear-headed politicians had succeeded in keeping the government from getting rid of them entirely. If the Marines hadn’t been so hamstrung by the government, maybe they could have stopped the Front from killing a few hundred people in Dinzkop. Maybe now that there had been some real blood spilled the rest of the windbags might start seeing reason.

Inside the camp, Marines moved around with purpose and precision. A pair of light helicopters were being loaded up for a flight over the ruined town. The hope was to maybe pick up some kind of trail or track from the vehicles that had been used to transport the Front and follow it back towards a base camp. Door-gunners anxiously checked and re-checked the belts of ammunition running to their machine guns while the pilot and co-pilot performed pre-flight checks on the instruments. Elsewhere a trio of Humvees were being loaded with medical supplies bound for another settlement that had been on the receiving end of a Front raid. The platoon of Marines that would be riding escort was getting their briefing off to one side as local laborers – all white, the Marines didn’t trust black or colored laborers enough to let them inside the base perimeter – carried boxes of bandages and other supplies from storage sheds to the vehicles.

Just let us off this leash… The thought was running through the Major’s mind over and over. Let us off this leash and we’ll show the damned Front what real violence looks like.

This rebellion in Southeastern Africa couldn't have occurred at a better time for the Spanish Republic as it coincided well with our liberation war in northern Morocco due to their claims on our territory and backwards government policies and potential support for religious extremism. Perhaps Spain's influence in Africa could be finally resurrected for the better to bring fourth our progressive, enlightened egaltarian values into a contient dominated by tribalism, misogyny and general backwardness however things were changing.

Image

President Mercurio Ordóñez prepared a speech for the People's Restoration Party on how to deal with the developing situations in both north and south Africa stressing the need for the Spanish Republic to step up and aid the Africans in their revolutions and fight for freedom from the very things oppressing them including the reactionary members of their society that hold them back. "Spain has a duty to the African people they have suffered for generations under the foot of the reactionary will holding back progress and enlightenment. Such a shame such a bountiful piece of Earth, held back by the clenches of religious fanaticism in the north, the backwardness of barbarity and lack of civilization in the middle and Neo-Fascist autocrats in the south that take the failed European experience with the far-right and apply it elsewhere, truly sickening. I think we should look to a more positive point in Africa's history when the Roman Republic introduced reason, democracy and general freedom to an otherwise, might I say deprived land. We seek to follow the excellent example of Rome and bring enlightenment and reason to Africa, my esteemed colleagues it is our duty... it is our duty.

Prime Minister Sophia Thomas was standing in her office in New Sydney when her cell phone rang. She looks at her phone to see that it is her foreign minister calling so she answers, " Yes John, what do you need?"

John Nichols answers, " We have a problem brewing with our friends in South East Africa. The Communist rebel group over there, the SPRF, has wiped out an entire village of mostly Afrikaaners and recently during a press conference, threatened every white person in the country. That sound like genocide to me, ma'am."

Sophia thinks for a second before speaking, " Get in touch with Defence Minister Lola Rogers and tell her to deploy our navy to SouthEast Africa but stay in International waters. They are to begin missile strikes against known rebel bases."

To the leaders of South East Africa

We, the United Australian Republic, would like to assist you with your rebel problem. As you know, we have our own rebel problem in the Philippines. We request that we can send 30,000 Australian Marines and our navy to your country so that we can destroy these rebels together.

Australian Foreign Ministry

To the leaders of the world

To countries supporting the rebels, if you have sent advisors to assist the rebels, they will running the risk of being shot by troops. To countries supporting the government, we thank you for your support. We, the United Australian Republic, will destroy every communist rebel we find but all who surrender will be treated fairly as a POW. To the Spanish government, We condemn your support of this racist rebel group who says that they will purge every white man, woman, and child from the country. That you would openly support genocide is disgusting and call on all world leaders to condemn Spain's open support of genocide. The United Australian Republic will placing harsh economic santions on Spain for their stance.

In south easern Halcorn, Sasha Benski is sitting at her small kicten counter looking iut her apartment window as the radio comes back from commercial.

"Welcome back, if you are just joining us this is Tanel Jasni on 104.1. Before the break we just heard Prime Minister Sruogo issue a condemnation on what is being referred to as the Boer Genocide. We are pleased to continue with Paweł Osowski. Pawel can you tell us what this means and what comes next. "

" It means that this insurgent group has basically ignited a powder keg that has had this pressure building for decades. It is unlikely the two sides will come to any understanding soon and that it is the citizens of South East Africa that will suffer."

"And what about the troops being sent to Dinzkop, how do you perceive their role and is it enough?"

"Sruogo has never had a strong interventionist platform. Suele's role is that of a humanitarian police force. If we can maintain this position in such a hotbed of unrest is frankly a fantasy."

"Thank you pawel, and I'm afraid we'll have to leave it there for now. Please stay tuned to JGT on 104.1 This is Tanel Jaani and up next we will have Carol Subini on discussing her new book..."

Private Adam Milosz is a 19 year old volunteer for the 3rd Jeager company. He sits in the back of the lead truck in the Suean convoy. Looking around he sees his comrades mostly just staring at eachother. The flight had been a bit rowdy with the beer and poker, but once senior lieutenant Offerten came towards the back 7 hours into the flight, he chewed the rumpus right out of the unit. Looking towards the tailgate sergeant Kulus had a cigarette hanging loose from his lips. He'd taken the chewing out and seemed to make it his mission that noone in this nousy trashcan would speak a word this until they make it to basecamp.

Behind this truck are 2 more supply trucks and the last bmp. In front of them are the lead bmp and the command bmp. His was the first company of volunteers formed for the mission. Each one an eager recruit who had been conscripted in the past 6 months except for the officers. Just 30 hours ago the word had been given. The Suelean Defense Forces would send aid. A small company of Jeager troops. Only 50 strong, there were orginally 75 who flew into Blantyre. The first wave of Suelean troops. The supply platoon had gone off ahead some four hours ago to set up a supply base 8 kilometers from the border. These troops had been given the choice of this peacekeeping mission or war games in the northern district. For most it seemed like an adventure and a chance to get out of the routine driills.

To the true and legitimate authority: President of the Republic Ricus Van Zyl, I Balys Sruogo of the nation Suele am sorry to hear of the recent tragedy in your northern provinces. At the invitation of Malawia a small detachment of peacekeepers are being deployed near the border should the conflict spill over the border. As peace and a return to order is our only concern, we request permission to enter your sovereign nation independent peacekeepers.

We seek to establish a independent base in or near Hoedstad where we can deliver aid supplies and offer a secure base of operations for aid workers in these turbulent times.

Respectfully Prime Minister Balys Sruogo

The developing situation would demand the President's further attention with him writing a statement addressed to Southeast Africa to let the world know Spain's standing, saying,

"The revolutionaries are truly a credit to the African people, a credit to their race, embracing enlightenment and the righteousness therein. Like Martin Luther Kings and Ghandis together we stand against reactionary racialist oppression and the oppression from within their communities like that of sexist rap music and vile tribal customs that have no place in the modern world. We await the fruition of the march forward to Southeast African freedom."

Presidential Estate, Oosthuizenfontein

President Ricus Van Zyl sat in his office, seeking a brief but needed moment of silence and contemplation. The situation in the north was quickly spiraling out of control, and it was becoming increasingly less likely that the situation would be brought under control. The situation was a difficult one, as the President sought to both send the military in as soon as possible, but refraining from sending TOO much of a military presence in order to potentially prevent the conflict from escalating further and increasing support for the SPRF. While the SPRF had claimed "sovereignty" over the northern provinces, in practicality they held little sway and influence or any actual control....at least as of now. It was decided very quickly that the utmost priority would be to ensure that the SPRF would not be able to seize actual control over their claims, and if one of the provinces should fall it would be an unmitigated disaster, and would ensure that this conflict would transform from insurgency, into full scale civil war.

Unfortunately, the Atlantians had already begun causing disaster, throwing gasoline on the fire that was starting out in the Bush. Van Zyl hated the Atlantians just like many other South East Africans, Like many of his people, he viewed them as a resentful relic of the apartheid regime. They had been brought into the nation under an agreement between the old regime and the Atlantian government in the 60s in order to aid against the increased insurgency. They quickly gained a reputation for acts of racial antagonism and hatred and for committing brutal atrocities on the native black population. When the apartheid system fell in 1998, one of the first things that was undertaken by the new government was to end the agreement altogether and send them back home, however the more conservative and remaining white-nationalist elements in Parliament made it difficult, and 20 years later the agreement lingered on, to the dismay and contempt of many.

The crimes of the Atlantians had done nothing but play right into the propaganda of the SPRF while drastically increasing pro-SPRF sentiment in the majority black North Province. The actions of the Atlantians had also sparked many protests and demonstrations calling for their immediate expulsion and prosecution of the individual responsible. At the very least, they needed to be brought in line, and so Van Zyl had ordered that a company of the 11th SEA Infantry Division that had been deployed to the north be attached to the remaining Atlantian base, nominally in the name of cooperation. While he left it out of the official orders, the real motivation was to be able to keep the Atlantians in line, and put an end to their ideas that they could do whatever they pleased to the South East African people.

A knock at the door signaled an end to his moment of peace, as Minister Wankhondo entered the room in order to begin answering the communiques from other nations.

Camp Dependable, North Province

Captain Arnoux Baatjies sat in the passenger seat of the lead Casspir MRAP, bearing a frown that had not left his face since he had received his orders. He had been told that the orders came directly from the president himself, but that hardly made them any less unpleasant. His company had been given the unsavory task of being deployed to Camp Dependable in North Province to coordinate with the Atlantian Marines stationed there against the SPRF insurgency. Like pretty much all South East Africans, he was familiar with the crimes of the so called Atlantian soldiers. As with most of the SEA military, he saw them as little more than glorified mercenaries and thugs rather than disciplined soldiers. He looked over at the driver, his lieutenant Mhuru Bulawayo, and blew air out of his nose in amusement. Somehow, Bulawayo looked even less enthused than he did. Though, considering he was Shona, that was entirely understandable. The seven vehicle convoy was approaching the camp as the lead vehicle slowed to a stop in front of the gate, as Captain Baatjies jumped down from his seat with orders in hand to present to the guards as they approached. Baatjies did his best to hide his feelings, offering a nod in greeting as one approached him and spoke in a heavily accented English.

"Captain Arnoux Baatjies, 13th Regiment 11th Infantry Division." he presented the copy of his orders to the guard. "I have orders for my company to be stationed here and coordinate efforts against the Front. May I speak to the Commanding officer?"

United Communist Party Headquarters, Kuldeboek

As the President and Foreign Minister were sitting down to work, some 100 miles away Pieter de Gosse was arriving at his party headquarters. As head of the UCP, de Gosse had been overwhelmed himself the past few days. The resurgence of the SPRF had caused massive backlash against the UCP by the traditionally anti-communist population of South East Africa, despite the direct condemnation of the UCP by Mandlate. At the recent demonstration at city hall to make English and Chenyanja official languages alongside Afrikaans, the UCP members found themselves outnumbered by a counter protest of all races. The two groups had a minor clash before being separated by the police, however several UCP members were injured. As de Gosse opened the door to the headquarters, he noticed three shady individuals glaring at him from across the street. He assumed they were members of some far-right group that was being encouraged by KvBeT, and almost instinctively his hand drifted near his open carry handgun. Such characters had become a common sight outside of the building. As he entered, he greeted the party members as he made his way to his office for the day. Almost as soon as he sat down, his secretary entered and informed him of a strange message that had been addressed to him from the government of Spain. Intrigued and somewhat confused he read through the message, and began work on an encrypted response.

While I thank you for your government's support for our cause, I am hesitant to resort to the level of the SPRF. Captain Eric Zhokev the ground commander for Suelean forces in South East Africa, looked around at the cramp interior of the command BMP as it rolled down the road. On the screen mounted to the wall he was ignoring the information feeds. They hadn’t changed much in hours and had nothing new since they mounted up for the push toward Hoedstad. He had acquired two more trucks from the Malawians for supplies. With just under 50 men he commanded more a platoon then a company, and with no direct allies known he felt exposed.

The local government troops might be of help for a time but given the nature of this conflict he suspected insurgent elements would likely already be present. This entire mission was made all the more dangerous by the lack of interest from the upper echelons. Rumors abound amongst the rank and file that this peacekeeping mission was meant as a rubber stamp to the Social Conservative’s international platform. He couldn’t blame the rumors, when he had received his orders they were bare bones. Establish a primary base for humanitian aid and protection in Hoedstad and a secondary base along the Malawian border to help patrol for refugees.
His troops were green conscripts that never faced live combat before and it showed. Their discipline was assured under the eyes of the NCOs but the leash would have to be short to keep them from devolving into a frat party.

Sergeant Bokar scanned the horizon to his right as he sat next to Private Milosz in the Sisu. The country felt so quiet with the dry earth and tall grass in the distance. It is hard to believe what was happening. Bokar had no little interest in what started this fight. He had no love for the white supprimists running the country and he felt sorry for the native blacks in the country. But he saw no reason why Suele needed to add it’s hat it the ring. He thumbed the barrel of his RK as he glanced over to Milosz who smiled dumbly and started opening his mouth. Bokar cut him off “Keep your eyes on the road private.”

Central Halcorn -  Navi scanned over the newspaper looking for anything about South East Africa. It had been two days since the Prime Minister’s speech and only hours later she got the email from her sweet heart Eric. He was being deployed and his weekend leave had been canceled. And just like that his time in the army went from a routine rite of manhood to something tragic and fearful. But worst was after the announcement there had been nothing about Africa, nothing about the troops and worst yet nothing more from Eric.

To: Mr. Adonis Wankhondo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South East Africa
From: Caitlyn Park, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Oslean Congressional Republic
Subject: Our Response to the Dinzkop Massacre

Mr. Wankhondo,

I pray this message finds you in good health and peace. The Congressional Republic offers its sincere condolences to your nation in the wake of the Dinzkop Massacre.

I am confident we will agree in saying that barbarism of this nature is incongruent with the values and qualities of life we expect in today's world. Frankly, this news has not only saddened Osleans, but has sickened and angered our populace. Calls for action have been echoed by Osleans of all walks of life.

We firmly believe it is our duty to help defend the innocent of this world. To that end, the government of the Oslean Congressional Republic - authorized by order of President Cyrus Wong - has authorized the creation and expedition of an Integrated Army Task Force to work in partnership with the SEA military with two goals:
  • The protection of select, at-risk settlements via the use of advanced imaging technology present in the AH-64E
  • The proactive destruction (or capture, when appropriate) of strategic targets and Persons of Interest via Force Recon and tactical close air support

A summary of this Task Force is available below. We are not aiming for a large-scale operation.

Integrated Army Task Force Bangalore
  • OCR Army 1st Ranger Battalion, 64th Brushtrooper Regiment, 2nd Platoon - 20 Brushtroopers, 4 M-ATV mine-resistant vehicles
  • OCR Army 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade - 4 AH-64E Apache Helicopters
  • OCR Army 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade - 2x UH-60 Blackhawks
  • Maintenance and administrative staff

Of course, there is no obligation to accept. However, we would be most honored if the OCR could join you in this fight for justice.
Should this be of interest - please let us know where we may station our forces. We can erect our own temporary accommodations, though we will need to airlift in our ordnance and vehicles via transport aircraft.

Regards,

Caitlyn Park
Secretary of Foreign Affairs
Oslean Congressional Republic

Your hesitance is understandable perhaps a slow approach is more suitable we urge your people to show restraint as we fear the potential for an ethnic-racial-genocide to occur at the hands of those involved in the current conflict. Our only interest is the safety and freedom of your people and your nation's progress. We would not wish to see an armed terrorist campaign, and we too also fear the expansion of the SPRF and we are willing to assist the UCP with a campaign against it through media and through your own actions we will donate 1.5 million pesetas to your cause to increase a political presence we also are prepared to send arms and advisors if needed upon your request.

I Daniel Carson, hereby declare my full support for your nation, in complete solidarity with the Afrikaner people. We too were shocked to hear about the atrocities committed against the white Afrikaner minority by the SPRF and we will sent 10 armored divisions, 11 assault units, and 13 mechanized infantry divisions to combat these savage commies and their unholy people.

Suidoos-Afrika wrote: At the very least, they needed to be brought in line, and so Van Zyl had ordered that a company of the 11th SEA Infantry Division that had been deployed to the north be attached to the remaining Atlantian base, nominally in the name of cooperation. While he left it out of the official orders, the real motivation was to be able to keep the Atlantians in line, and put an end to their ideas that they could do whatever they pleased to the South East African people.

From a distance, Camp Dependable sat low to the ground and barely distinguishable from the surrounding terrain. The perimeter was lined with a berm made from piled up dirt, designed to block incoming fire and force enemy soldiers and vehicles to climb up and silhouette themselves against the sky as nice clear targets. Those targets would be fired on before they got to the perimeter by the heavy machine guns in sandbagged bunkers built into the berm at ground level. Anyone who climbed over the berm would receive fire from more machine guns mounted in guard towers spaced evenly along a wall made from prefabricated concrete panels. The base had two entrances, both covered by gates and flanked by bunkers. Soldiers could be seen patrolling along both the berm and the wall.

The guards at the front gate were nonchalant, appearing unfazed by the appearance of seven military vehicles on the road. One soldier could be seen shouting behind him as the lead MRAP neared the gate, and another soldier was walking back to the second gate. When Captain Baatjies exited the vehicle and approached the Marine on guard, who regarded him with dispassionate boredom and his driver lieutenant with casual disdain.

Suidoos-Afrika wrote:"Captain Arnoux Baatjies, 13th Regiment 11th Infantry Division." he presented the copy of his orders to the guard. "I have orders for my company to be stationed here and coordinate efforts against the Front. May I speak to the Commanding officer?"

“Yeah, Major Heartly is around,” the Marine replied in a laconic drawl. He waved a hand towards the second gate, which was being opened by the Marines posted there. “Head on in and get sorted out.” The soldier did not offer a salute.

Inside the Atlantian base, Major William Heartly listened to the report from the gate announcing the arrival of the local forces. The major, a veteran of several Marine Corps missions into unstable or conflict-plagued states, had been looking over the reports from the scouting force sent to recon the ruined village of Dinzkop. The helicopters hadn’t found any useful evidence to trace the Front attackers back to a base, and the locals had already taken any survivors into their care. All the Marines could do was continue to help other communities that hadn’t yet been hit.

That included allowing a small illicit trickle of weapons out to white Kommandos – a few crates of standard assault rifles had been left behind by other Atlantian units when they had been withdrawn, part of the death-by-a-thousand-cuts approach that the weak-kneed liberal government had taken to forcing the Atlantians out of the country. It had been a simple matter for Major Heartly to lose the report from his quartermaster informing him that a “lapse of security” had permitted white Kommandos to spirit those crates out of the warehouse and back to their towns. It was unfortunate that the weapons were a fairly common model of assault rifle, so it would be nearly impossible to track them down once they disappeared onto the black market or into the hands of white settlers.

“Sir, another message from some foreigners,” a communications officer announced. He handed the major a paper printout of the message from the Suelean detachment.

“Invite their commander over when he has the time,” Major Heartly replied. “We’ll see what kind of ‘peacekeeping’ these people are interested in doing. If it’s more bleeding-heart nonsense then we’ll want to keep them nice and far away.”
TO THE SUELEAN FORCE
Your commanding officer or sufficiently empowered subordinate is invited to Camp Dependable to meet with Major Heartly, C.O. 13th Marine Battalion, to discuss coordination of patrols and inter-unit communication protocols.

While that message was being composed and sent off, the major went out to meet the locals who were going to be bunking with them for a while.

Behind the concrete were the sprawling buildings housing the Atlantian soldiers, support personnel, and their supplies and vehicles. A helipad was off to one side, where the handful of transport and gunship helicopters that the battalion operated were undergoing standard inspections and minor repairs from their last missions. Atlantian Marines going about their duties stopped and watched as the South East African vehicles rolled into the base, until the supervising officers and NCOs harangued them back to work. In a building near the center of the fort, with the flags of the Confederacy of Atlantian Dominions and the Confederate Marine Corps flying from a tall mast, Major William Heartly stood waiting with the captains commanding each of the three rifle companies in his unit.

“Welcome to Camp Dependable,” the major said amicably. He extended a hand in greetings. “Major William Heartly, 13th Marine Battalion. These are my company commanders, Captains Junia, Allanson, and Greenfield.” He pointed to each man in turn as he named them. “I understand that you’ll be staying with us here in our humble abode while we hunt down the animals who burned Dinzkop.”

To Adonis Wankhondo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South East Africa

100 is a little low for us so we will be sending the 5th Armored Battalion, 1st Armored Division which is 1500 soldiers plus armored vehicles, supply trucks and helicopters. Our navy will remain in international waters for the time being keeping an eye on things but should the rebels step up things, we will have no choice but to put this rebellion down harshly. Our troops are crack counter insurgency troops and will begin deploying immediately.

Captain Zhokev stood at the door of the BMP watching as the last of the Sisu trucks parked to be unloaded. He had a weathered face and had started growing a beard to hide his jowls that were starting to sag. It was new and found himself the ½ inch whiskers. Consciencley crossing his arms he saw amongst the dust he saw his officers making their way back from directing the troops on the initial unloading.
Sergeant Kalus had led the scouting party when the convoy stopped to refuel outside of the city. Intel from Suele had established real estate vacancies before the convoy had departed. Kalus had found Lokestone ranch to be promising. 40 minutes from the Hoedstad airfield and connected to the highway, meant that it was accessible while not being right in the midst of the crowds. It wasn’t going to be heavily fortified, but then that wasn’t what the Party wanted the world to see. They were meant to be out of the way but accessible.

Walking between the troops unloading the gear from the Sisus, Bokar stepped into the command BMP leaving the door open behind him. The other senior officers seemed pretty relaxed and the sergeant took their cue and leaned against the side watching for Captain Zhokev to start the meeting.
“Alright Norbask is busy at the moment so it will just be us.” Zhokev pulled out a print out of the ranch they were in.

Image

“Sgt Bokar Lieutenant Offerten, you will see to the conversion of this ranch to our purpose. “ –Zhokev
Bokar tightened his back standing even straighter as he offered a single nod in response.
Lieutenant MMM leaned over the map calculating.
“We will need three rings, an out perimeter defense and patrol ring, the medical and refugee camps, and our base of operations around the stables, with a check point at the house. “ – Offerten
“That will do for now. I’ve been informed that our second wave will include a political attaché. Which is fine by me, but I’m still heading over to camp Dependable. They were identified as the least likely to be infiltrated by the rebels.
“I hear they are a bunch of trigger happy cowboys Sir.” –Bokar
“That among some other things to be sure but even after the second wave arrives we won’t even be a full strength company. We’ll have to coordinate if we will be effective. So I’ll need a patrol BMP and a few men once you can spare them. I want this camp functional and our first patrols into Hoedstad by the time the second wave arrive. Kalus work out the schedule and routes. “-Zhokev looks around and claps his hands once announcing the end of the meeting.
The other three men stand straight salute their captain before filing out of the vehicle.
_ _
2 hours later*

Sergeant Bokar overseen the setting up the perimeter on the dirt road leading from the main highway. There would be 3 earthen bunkers erected before the next sunset followed by similar dugouts along the entire perimeter of the ranch. With the paddocks empty there would be enough space to create refugee shelters while just outside the tree line surrounding the paddocks was open grassland 2 acres deep at the shallowest. 2 BMP would remain on call near the house to repel any attacks from the main road. The house itself would be used as office and processing area for any refugees. He felt it was far to exposed to house the troops or the captain. They would be set up in multiple camps on the interior of the paddocks. Close enough to each other to offer support while protected from surprise attacks by the paddocks. While the infantry finished up with the defenses, Bokar made his way through the stables. It was musty but solid and spacious. With the command BMP near the door this would make for a good command center. Making note of it in his book he walked out and made his way to the next building. For the time being most of the men would either occupied with patrols or fortifying and preparing the camp. Most drive in was quiet. How long that would last no one could guess.

Announcement from the office of the Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Suele, Victoria Strokova:

To the nations and peoples of the world peace is our greatest resource and opportunity in this world. We must remember that it is fragile and when it is broken the duty to protect the most vulnerable among us.
It is with this dream in mind that I am proud to announce that the South East Africa Foundation has been established here in the heart of Suele. To the nation’s leaders and to the people of thos nations we ask you join us in bringing peace back to this nation.
The SEAF will be taking public and private donations with the first contribution coming from JBP Corp here in Halcorn. Volunteers can sign up or make donations at SEAF.org.

Zhokev leaned his head back as the BMP transitioned from the long dirt road to the paved highway again, soon they would be making their way to camp Dependable.

Camp Dependable, North Province

Baatjies turned from the guard and hopped up onto the open door, hanging on as he raised his arm and made a circular gesture to signal that they were good to go. As the convoy began moving into the base, he shared a quick glance with Bulawayo at the attitude of the Atlantian, smirking slightly. The convoy preceded to the interior of the base before coming to a halt amid several buildings. From out of one of the buildings, a single figure flanked by several others emerged and began making his way towards the MRAPs, the major that the guard had mentioned Baatjies presumed.

"Lieutenant Bulawayo, get the boys unpacked and ready to settle in, yeah? I'll go have a talk with this major and figure out where we will be calling home for a while." Bulawayo chuckled, "Good Luck, boss". Baatjies hissed through his teeth in mild amusement as he closed the door and turned to approach the major, Bulawayo shouting to the company behind him as he got out of the vehicle. The major greeted him as he approached, offering a hand in amiable greeting, to which Baatjies graciously clasped and offered his own cheery greeting. "Heita, Major Heartly. Captain Arnoux Baatjies, 13th Regiment 11th Infantry. Seems so." He nodded to the others in friendly greeting as they were named, before he turned towards the company disembarking and unloading. "You know, one or two of my boys had a friend or relative in Dinzkop, yeah?" He shook his head and turned back towards the major. "Needless to say, we are eager and ready to bring justice to those responsible". He hiked a thumb back towards his company, "Could someone tell them where they will be settling in while we are here? Ask for my lieutenant, Bulawayo. Should be easy to spot though, hes the boetie yelling at everyone else." He gave a small smile, which faded as the distant roar of a lion rang out over the dying light of the evening. Baajties had been born and raised in the city, and despite the many years of service out in the bush the sound still made his hair stand on end. He was terrified of the things. "Ah...anyway major, perhaps we could go somewhere to talk about the intel you have gathered on SPRF activity in the area, and to sort out patrol schedules?"

As the company rolled into the camp, an SPRF runner lay hidden in a grove of brush and tall Savannah on the top of a hill that gave an acceptable view down into the camp. He was covered in the mud from a watering hole and used no scopes or binoculars as was the standard for SPRF runners; the mud hid him from thermal sights while the lack of glass made it impossible to be discovered from the glints that could be given off by the sun. Some may scoff and dismiss such "primitive" scouting methods, but as the South East African Army had come to learn through the years, the observations and accurate reports were deadly and precise. After all, runners were chosen for their keen eye, memory, and survivalist skills in order to accurately report back what they had seen and make it back. The runner was just about to start his trip back to the SPRF camp hidden away where savannah gave way to forest, hidden from the prying eyes of government and Atlantian helo patrols, when he saw the convoy approach the camp. At first, he grimaced, as the unanticipated arrival of further forces could potentially through a wrench in the planned attack for that night. His grimace turned into a smile however, as he noted only seven vehicles. A standard SEAA company contingent was hardly anything to worry about, and would only be more targets to slaughter in the journey to glorious revolution. A lion's roar, close but not too close, signaled an end to his scouting as the light continued to fade. If he maintained a good pace on the horse he had tied to a nearby tree (stolen from a raid on a white farmstead) he would be able to comfortably make it back to camp before the light faded.

As he arrived on the outskirts of the camp, roughly half an hour of light remained. He whistled the standard signal of approach, mimicking local birds, and moments later received the whistled acknowledgment. As he entered the camp, it was abuzz with activity. He was among a small core group of veteran SPRF members that had been sent to the area with explicit orders to eliminate the atlantian presence, a wretched symbol of the continued white supremacy from the apartheid regime. The small group had sent out a call to arms to the local population who had been ravaged by the Atlantian garrison over the years. The response had been....overwhelming, to say the least. More than 2,000 local people had bolstered the ranks of the some 200 strong SPRF contingent, ranging from inhabitants of local modern towns, to those who lived in traditional villages. All had in some way been victim to the barbarism of the Atlantian garrison at some point, and where eager to see vengeance visited on the Camp and see those responsible killed and driven out. While many may not have shared the SPRF zeal of revolution and communism, they more than made up for it in their burning hatred for the Atlantian marines. The runner made his report, and those in charge saw it fit to continue the planned attack. It would take several hours for the force to reach the camp, but this would work to their advantage. The time would assure that guards would be fewer than normal as well as the lack of air support as the helos did not fly that late in the night, and the element of surprise would be on their side. They would outnumber the garrison, and catch them by surprise. While firearms training was impossible given the close proximity of the camp to the Atlantian base, those in charge saw the coming battle as an assured victory given the element of surprise and strength in numbers, despite the lack of training for most of the force. The savannah, while seemingly open, was taller than most men, and would provide ample cover for most. The moderate amount of technical vehicles they had (some 50) would have to be kept in reserve, but would be positioned on the hill above the camp to provide a torrent of fire from their mounted guns.

Some two hours later, the large force were approaching the camp from all sides crouching amid the tall savannah, the fleet of technicals hidden from view, but prepared to position themselves at the crest of the hill that the runner was on mere hours before, lights off and ready to take position as soon as the firing started.

Presidential Estate, Oosthuizenfontein

Every hour seemed to wear down on Van Zyl. Even the international responses supporting the government caused him to sprout a few more gray hairs. The Australians, while they had agreed to diminish the size of their force, were landing in much larger numbers than the government wanted. Parliament, and the President himslef, were very concerned that such a massive number of foreign soldiers had arrived, as such an influx of foreign soldiers could spur the governments of Zimbabwe, Mozambique, or others to send troops of their own in support of the SPRF. At this point, the SEAA was spread so thin as to make border protection difficult, and forces from any of these neighboring countries could relatively easily made their way clandestinely to the SPRF to support them. With that being said, the president once again composed himself as his Foreign Minsiter entered, and they began to respond to the new messages from foreign governments.

The government of the Republic of South East Africa graciously thanks you for your support against the Insurgency of the Shona People's Revolutionary Front. However, the government desperately pleads for you to reduce the numbers of committed troops in this conflict. as we fear that such a massive force of foreign soldiers would entice the nations of Mozambique and Zimbabwe, among others, to send their own forces in support of the SPRF. We graciously ask that your forces be limited to less than 1,000 in order to avoid such an occurrence.

The Confederate Empire of West Phoenicia was not only heartbroken but disgusted at the news of the brutal massacre of civilians at Dinzkop at the hands of the Shona People's Revolutionary Front.
The information and intelligence we have received clearly show this group bent on terror must be stopped by any means possible.
Mayeso Mandlate and the animals who carried out the orders, must be rounded up and brought to justice. The leaders talk of justice, revolution and violent change,, all we seem them as are racist thugs who are not helping the issue but driving the wedge deeper.

This massacre has shown talk is not enough, the government of President Ricus Van Zyl and all parties within the government must unite to stamp out the vermin who have unlawful claimed three provinces and are threatening the lives of not only whites, but of every decent citizen in that region.

More needs to be done before more lives are lost.

Emperor Glenton Gryphon-Bush II has requested the South East African government, agree to allow a delegation of West Phoenician senators and their security support to come to South East Africa to see the situation for themselves to report back to our government and Emperor.
We request approval for the diplomatic mission.

Senator Jack Portland,

With the drawdowns, we’ve got a few empty barracks that your boys can use.” Camp Dependable had been built to house more than just a single reinforced battalion, so there were indeed enough spare beds in a separate building – the Atlantians had no interest in letting the integrated South East African troops into their own barracks – for the new arrivals to set up. Lieutenant Bulawayo was shown where the company’s MRAPs could park and then Lieutenant Greaves unlocked the barracks for the SEAA troops to set down their gear. The Atlantians Marines gathered in small groups on the other side of the base, watching the local soldiers move their gear inside and leaning in to make remarks that apparently the other Marines found funny.

Suidoos-Afrika wrote:"Ah...anyway major, perhaps we could go somewhere to talk about the intel you have gathered on SPRF activity in the area, and to sort out patrol schedules?"

“Follow me,” Major Heartly said and gestured for Captain Baatjies to follow him into the command center. Inside the building, the communications technicians and other administrative staff were conducting their normal business. “In terms of intelligence, we haven’t had much luck.” On the table in the middle of the command center was a large map of the province. The perimeter of Camp Dependable was marked out in blue, while Dinzkop now featured a large red X drawn over the town limits. The Atlantian Major beckoned Baatjies to come and stand with him at the table, looking down at the territory printed out in topographical detail.

“When word of what happened reached us, I sent out one two of our choppers to see if there was any indication of where the Front ran off to when they were finished with the place. They didn’t find anything actionable. As for the local situation, things have remained quiet here for now. But if the Front wants to make their new country, they know they have to go through us first.”

Flight plans would be transmitted to Madrid and Tripolia and Cairo as well as Mogadishu and then from there onto the South East African ATC. The MCnernians were coming.

Approaching South East Africa
Coming out of the North (Somalia direction)
MRAF Detachment Support-On Trajectory to Preatorius AFB

The first aircraft to be dispatched was a wave of airlift aircraft from Europe/Dienstad towards Somalia and from there to SEA. The Mcnernians were inclined to get involved to preserve democracy and make sure that the nation was remaining friendly to Europe. The issue of outflanking the White Nationalists of the Confederacy by doing something had been brought up as showing the world that Mcnernia could be a responsible country, showing that Democracies were getting involved. So the C-17s carrying the support elements, the first wave of the ground crews for the aircraft were naturally the firsts ones to arrive via Europe. There was concern that there would be fallout with the African Union but the Mcnernians supporting the AMISOM mission meant that there was a voice at the African Union and while the nation was democratic the white leadership surely did not go over that well.

The first jets would transmit a signal from international airspace. Tankers loaded with personnel escorting the transports carrying more people as well as the supplies needed and this would be just the initial assessment as the Defense Committee was debating on whether or not to send the remainder by sea. The base was deemed secure enough that while there would be a RAF Infantry Squadron on the ground along with the local troops not much was needed as the base was going to be secure. The message was transmitted.

“This is the Mcnernian Royal Air Force support personnel airlift. We are here to deploy the support elements for the detachment arranged how copy over?”

The Atlantians who remained at Camp Dependable were aware of the resentment that the locals harbored for them. Most of them simply ignored it, rationalizing it away as the ignorant product of ungrateful people who either didn’t realize that the Atlantians were here putting their lives on the line to defend them, or actively didn’t care. Some reveled in it, meeting derision and resentment with their own in equal measure. These were the troubemakers, the ones who escalated situations from shouting matches to brawls, which usually became beatings as the trained Atlantian soldiers closed ranks to defend even the most boorish and loudmouthed of their own. They knew, too, that this hatred might fuel the SPRF. Few seemed to see that as a real threat. Nevertheless, the camp had defenses in place against the sort of night attack now being mounted. Whether they were adequate was yet to be tested.

Lights shone out from guard towers and from along the walls, throwing unnatural brightness on the ground just before the outer wall of the base. The guard detail was indeed reduced, but there were still soldiers manning most of the outer defense bunkers and posted in the towers. A determined and alert force might have spotted the SPRF attack coming well before it was within range to open fire, but the Atlantians weren’t on any sort of high alert. They assumed that any attack launched at night would be a mere skirmish, designed to unbalance the Marines or simply annoy them. The SPRF, it was assumed, would have to mount any sort of major offensive against Camp Dependable during the day time if it wanted to coordinate its forces well enough to have any chance of success. Most of the preparations the base had made were hardening structures against mortar or rocket attack.

As the SPRF force approached, things were business as usual for the Atlantians. Most soldiers were in their barracks, swapping rumors about their new partners in the South East African Army or complaining about the heat or the sun. The guard detail was on its normal routes, walking the perimeter walls and glancing out to casually scan the darkness beyond the artificially-lit areas.

To the Commanding officers in charge of Camp Dependable

This Lieutenant Colonel Marcus Bradley of the Australian 5th Armored Battalion. I would like to request a meeting you and me. I am heading toward the Camp as we speak in an armored convoy. If you see Mi 35 attack choppers, they are ours.
