The radio in the Kings private chambers crackled to life as the three soldiers who had entered looked at the man laid in his bed. He was a middle-aged man looking very nervously between the Kalashnikovs of the soldiers and the radio they had just turned on. The voice of Laura Camburn, the number one radio news host of the Collective News Agency (CNA), was emitting from the radio in panicked bursts. “I’m getting news in as fast as I can manage here people…sorry. As far as I can tell the military has launched a coup against the King and Royal Family! The heirs to the throne Prince Mark and Princess Ellie have both been arrested in their private residence on the outskirts of the Capital…the Kings palace has reportedly been breached by members of Military Police Detachment Alpha. No causalities so far… the Royal Guard just laid down their weapons! I know I’ve been saying this was going to happen for a while but I mean…Yes I hear you Derick! Okay folks a group of MPs have just arrived here at the station…they want to say a few words. Okay? Yes Okay you want to be on the microphone there. Right!”

With that the door to the Kings bedroom opened and two of the soldiers saluted as Colonel Richard Hun walked into the room, “Good Morning your majesty.” He said as he stopped at the foot of the bed and looked at the now disgruntled King. The two men stopped for a second to listen to the voices of the MPs on the radio informing the public to remain indoors and not take to the streets during this period of upheaval. Then the King spoke quickly, “The international community will not accept this Colonel! I will be back in power within a week!” The King stopped though as Colonel Hun smiled, “The International community supports this move your majesty, we remove you, bring in democracy and the world will be all the happier. No blood has been shed and the whole country has been wanting your blood for a long time I promise you. Now get dressed, there’s a press conference for you to attend! Must do this all legally.” With that said Hun turned and left the room. King Roger looked at the three men still in his room, “What’s the press conference for?” He asked one of the Military Policemen. “To show you signing your abdication sir.” One of them answered. The king went pale.

The Palace of Kings in the centre of Temple Prime, the Capital of the Collective, was magnificent thought John Parly as he sat among the five men on the long table in front of the cameras. Parly had been a member of the resistance for as long as it had been in existence, so around nine months, but during that time he had risen to power as head of the Resistances political branch. Now he found himself ready to be sworn in as the new President of the new Democratic Union of Chimeran Collective and was nervous all the way through. But first the simple business of abdicating the old King Roger and bringing peace to a very unstable situation. The room was a buzz with about fifteen reporters all vetted for their suitability for this task months in advance and made aware of their need to be in the press conference room about three hours ago when MPs arrived to escort them here. The room stood as the King entered, except for Parly and the Generals either side of him, who remained seated. King Roger walked into the room and looked around nervously he was dressed in a formal suit and his hair looked like it had hastily been brushed on the way over here. “Where are my children?” He asked as he came to stand in front of the Generals and Parly.
“Safe your grace.” Answered Colonel Hun from the side of the table. The cameras and recorders of the reporters all filled the silence of the room as the King looked at the men in front of him. “No chance of a reprieve then?” He asked jokingly. No-one laughed. The only motion that filled the room was the simple movement of Parly to push the simple piece of paper to the King. On it read the full terms of his abdication and what would take place next, the room was shocked as the King read aloud that he would abdicate the throne of Chimera and leave the nation to be governed by the people. He and his family would be leaving by the 10:30 am flight to a neighbour state that had offered them sanctuary. The room was shocked as the King placed the piece of paper on the table and asked for a pen and signed it.

The situation was going badly for the new Democratic Union of Chimeran Collective. The ‘revolution’ had been a resounding success with minimum bloodshed the royal family had been successfully deposed and escorted out of the country with minimum fuss. But now the real trouble had begun. “They say what?” President Parly, who had been sworn in hours after the king had left the country, was stood behind his desk looking at Colonel Hun, his military advisor, with a look of shock. “There are a group of people to the south who are trying to make an independence movement take place. They have risen up in the town of Stary and are erecting roadblocks as we speak to keep security forces out. The police stations have been attacked and the police have fled.”
“Bloody cowards! You know who this is don’t you? The bloody commies, they wanted in on our revolution and the resistance, but we told them no. We told them go back home and stop causing trouble, but here they are causing trouble. Independent south my arse.” Parly looked at Hun who was stood to attention reading from a piece of paper. “Your orders sir?” Hun asked looking at Parly. Parly sighed heavily and looked at Hun, “We need to re-establish control, no negotiations with these terrorists, who’s in the area of the town?” He asked. Hun lifted the sheet of paper again and looked over it for several seconds, “General Harris, sir. He has the 10th Independent nearby and is ready to move in at a moments notice.”
“Give him the order to clear the town, no holds barred anyone carrying a weapon is to be killed or arrested and central governance restored.” Parly sighed heavier than ever in his two weeks of presidency. “Understood sir.” Hun said and turned and left the room.

Southern Chimera, The Town of Stary

The smoke rose heavy and black into the air. The Hinds moved hard and fast over the tops of the houses their pilots scanning for any targets. The three hinds moved in formation pilots covering every angle they could get. Below them a column of BMPs and T-72s move down the dirt road covered in infantry soldiers. The fighting had been bloody and hard, but Stary was now classified as secured and under government control once more. The occasional burst of gunfire was now relegated to the universal term of ‘mopping up’. As the column moved down the street three fighting age men were seen stood at a corner watching the column pass. A soldier jumped down from the vehicles and gestured for the men to leave. They did as ordered and the column passed them with little consequence. “It’s over Jet. Who were we to try and fight the government?” One of the men said as they walked into one of the few standing buildings left, a small pub. The pub was full of wounded and crying men and women and children all hit by the bombardment and caught in the subsequent cross fire of the rebels and the military. “No, we are right to stand against them, for the peoples will and the peoples right to be free of oppression we need to fight, we just went the wrong way about it. Now is the time to fight, but we can’t match them on the field we’ll have to try a different tactic. Now we fight smart.” Jet said back to his comrade. The three men would soon vanish from the town of Stary and into the mountains.

President Ivan Ludvík sat at his desk in his office, eyes fixed on his television screen. The set was relatively new and expensive, as with many things in this office. Ludvík spent his money lavishly, often earning criticism and accusations of corruption because of it. Though this was not uncommon among any officials in the Achkaskovkan government. But at the moment, this did not matter. What Ludvík saw from his TV was a cause for concern. It was from Chimera. The country has been ruled by a monarchy for many years. Today, a coup must have been launched. After months of garnering support, the people believed it was time to overthrow the monarchy. The king sat in front of the cameras, and reading out a document giving the terms of an abdication. On the other side of the table he sat at, six men sat. Ludvík recognized a face in the center. He forgot the man’s name, but he knew that he lead the movement, and he did not support communism. Something must be done, and the time to act is now.

The king finished reading the document, then he asked for a pen, then signed the papers. Ludvík immediately grabbed his phone. It was an Achkaskovkan made smartphone, and one of the newest and most expensive of its kind. Ludvík turned it on, then opened a phone application and began scrolling through his contacts. He jumped to the letter S, then scrolled. He clicked on one name, ready to call, but hesitated. He put down his phone. “Mojmír!” Ludvík shouted to one of his aides. Mojmír Ševčík immediately responded “Yes?” Ludvík picked up one of the larger phones sitting on his desk. “What is Staněk’s number?” Ševčík walked over to the bookshelf near him, and took out a phone book. Ludvík said “No, the other one.” Ševčík put that away, then picked up a thinner one next to it. While he searched through the book, Ševčík thought about why Ludvík had two phone books. As far as he knew, Ludvík had rivals in the party, and that measures as seemingly ridiculous as this were taken because these rivals will do everything they can to undermine each other.

Ševčík found the name Jakub Staněk, and read out the four digit number beside it. Ludvík already dialed it on the large phone sitting on his desk. It looked like a landline, similar to the one sitting beside it. Ševčík believed it might be a secret communications system. Ludvík often used both phones, and asked for a number from one of the two books depending on which one he used. Whoever these rivals in the party were, they must be powerful enough to be able to spy on other party members. Perhaps Ludvík spied on them as well. But whatever was going on in the party, Ševčík would stay loyal to Ludvík. Ludvík vetted hard to insure loyalty, and promised a large paycheck for anyone who chooses to work for him, along with other benefits. Ševčík lived far better than he did before, and far better than the majority of Achkaskovkan citizens. But he made sure any traitors will be punished, and warned everyone of this.

Defense Minister Jakub Staněk sat in his office elsewhere in the building, when his phone suddenly rings. It was one of the landlines. This was the one used for secret communications between Ludvík’s faction within the party. Staněk picked up the phone, and heard Ludvík’s voice. “Good morning, Jakub.”

“Good morning, Ivan” Staněk replied. Ludvík then asked a question. “Have you heard about what’s happening in Chimera?”

“No, I have not. But I assume it is something important?”

“Yes. You know about the resistance to their monarchy, correct? And how they gathered foreign support for their cause for the past few months?”

“Yes, I have heard of them.”

“Good. They’ve launched a coup this morning and televised the king’s abdication. The new guy they plan on putting in charge, he’s not that supportive of the Revolution.”

Staněk thought about this. He knew exactly what Ludvík meant by “Revolution”. An anti-communist in power was far from ideal. He expected some mobilization order, probably an airstrikes or sending special forces to aid a communist insurgency, or both.

“Jakub, I want special forces ready. Make sure they can be deployed within short notice. Understood?”

“Yes. Mr. G-”

Ludvík hung up. Staněk considered what he just heard. A coup in Chimera, anti-communist politician in power, and ready special forces for a possible engagement. The logical choice would be to send in special forces. No elite units would be needed, just a small force capable of training insurgents. The problem was, that branch of the Achkaskovkan armed forces had its loyalties to Oskar Vitek. Vitek was a former army officer, and he has significant power within the Party. And, he is one of Ludvík’s many rivals. Much of the leadership of the Achkaskovkan Special Forces are part of Vitek’s faction. Vitek will be told if there is an operation. At best, he will take credit for a successful operation and blame Ludvík if it fails. At worst, he will make every step of the process difficult. Staněk’s best option was to approach a unit directly and tell them to prepare for a deployment. He would have logistics be prepared by another branch, possibly the navy. Everything will be reported to someone loyal to him and Ludvík, or maybe Staněk directly.

Port of Louvířov, Louvířov
Louvířov District, Achkaskovka

Late Morning, 23-5-2019

“Have you heard about the news from Chimera?” asked one man on the streets of Louvířov, “Revolutionary forces lost control of a city.” His friend, who walked beside him, replied “No, I have not. What exactly happened?” The first man explained what happened in Chimera, about how a revolution in southern Chimera started not long after an anti-communist was sworn in as president, after he lead a successful revolution against the king. President Ludvík publicly stated that he does not support the new Chimeran president, and voiced support for the southern communist revolution, though he did not say anything about helping it. The two men continued talking, past many buildings on their left. On their right, was a large port, and farther beyond that was the ocean. The day seemed normal, besides the events in Chimera. The two men continued walking and talking about the events, and soon they saw the building they were talking to, and entered. To them, it would continue as a normal day.

Farther along the port, a large destroyer was anchored and nearly read to disembark. The LAN Vadubice, named after a city in southwestern Achkaskovka, docked in Louvířov recently for maintenance, but Captain Libor Adámek was approached by Admiral Alan Klapil, the leader of the Achkaskovak Navy not long after his arrival. He had an important task, which he will be told about later. Only now, he got another call. Adámek answered immediately. “This is Captain Libor Adámek of the LAN Vadubice. Who is this?”

“Good morning, Comrade Adámek.” The voice replied. Adámek recognized it was Klapil’s.

“Sir” Adámek replied, “Do you have any information about what my mission will be?”

“Yes. Have you heard about the recent events in Chimera?”

“Yes sir.” Though as Adámek said that, he became worried. “Chimera? Is he really sending me there?” he thought.

The admiral continued, “Special forces will arrive soon. Your task will be to transport them to Chimera, then return here.”

Adámek breathed a sigh of relief. “Yes sir. Where in Chimera should I sail to specifically?”

“I will send you a route. Follow it, and deploy the special forces, under cover of night if possible. Understood?”

“Yes sir.”

Klapil hung up. Adámek looked at a map he was just sent. He would end up in a particularly mountainous area of Chimera. The only way to send the special forces was from ship by helicopter, and his ship has several. The route goes south, past the south of the Estarian continent, and turns west. Then when it reaches an area directly south of Chimera, the ship would head north to the country, deploy the special forces, then head back to Achkaskovka by the same route. This route avoids the coastal waters of all nations except for Achkaskovka and Chimera. Adámek hoped there will be no run in with naval forces of any foreign nations along the way. While he should be ignored for the most part, there was a possibility of a run in with a Chimeran vessel within its coastal waters. In that case, it would not be a stretch to accuse Achkaskovka of aiding the insurgency. But it was still unlikely, in the vastness of the ocean.

LAN Vadubice
Chimeran Coast

Early Morning, 27-5-2019

Captain Libor Adámek stood on the bridge of the LAN Vadubice. Three and a half days of travel later, and the mountainous southern Chimeran coast was now ahead of the ship. Everything outside was nearly pitch black, except for the starry sky and the moon, now at its third quarter. The large ship was nearing the coast, and Adámek slowed it to a crawl, then anchored the ship. Staying awake was difficult at this hour, but it was the most important part of this mission. It was to sail to Chimera, deploy special forces to south to aid a communist insurgency, then return to Louvířov immediately. The special forces must be deployed under the cover of night. Adámek believed he was at a perfect location and arrived at the perfect time. Shining the ship’s searchlight in the area, he detected only the mountains, before turning it off again. Adámek then radioed the helicopter deck. “This is Captain Adámek. We are ready to deploy.” The officer radioed back a confirmation.

On the back of the ship stood two helicopters. They were not meant for transport, but are the only ships on the ship, and only way to deploy the special forces. The shore was not far away, but with the relatively low capacity of the helicopters, they would require several trips to and from the mountains. A platoon of special forces under Lieutenant Oldřich Jaroš stood inside one of the helicopters, fully loaded with men and supplies. More men stood on the deck of the ship. The second helicopter was also loaded. An officer soon arrived and said the helicopter was clear for takeoff. Jaroš sat inside, and watched his men as the helicopter slowly lifted itself off the deck of the LAN Vadubice, then moved forward into the Chimeran mountains. Besides the crew in the cockpit, a few other men sat with Jaroš, and the supplies. They included food, water, weapons, and ammunition for them. There was also communist propaganda material, and communications equipment. Contact with Achkaskovka will be established once the insurgents are found.

The helicopter began slowing down, and lowering. The other helicopter was flying somewhere in the sky, and the ship was somewhere in the sea ahead. But it was all completely dark, and little could be seen. The helicopters relied on a GPS system to know where to travel. The helicopter lowered itself and hovered over a spot. Jaroš shined a hand powered flashlight, and saw it was a good spot. All soldiers in the helicopter dropped supplies, then jumped out. The helicopter took off. The soldiers were now alone, in foreign territory, without outside support. This was now gripping all the soldiers, in the dark mountainous landscape. The second helicopter began lowering near where Jaroš stood. The soldiers, using the light from his flashlight, dropped supplies then jumped out. No soldier said a word. They began setting up a small camp, to spend the rest of the night in before a search for support the next morning. The sound of the helicopter rotors was distant now, but only around a quarter of the soldiers were sent to the mountain.

The first helicopter landed, and the second shortly after. With this, the crew began working, making sure all systems were still working. After a short flight, this may not be needed, but damage could be caused by hovering over the mountains. More supplies began being loaded into the helicopters, and more soldiers entered. In a few minutes, the helicopters took off again. They disappeared into the night sky, then arrived into the mountains near the rest of the soldiers, dropped their troops and supplies, then returned. This process continued several more times, before the last group of soldiers and supplies were dropped off. The entire platoon now stood at the mountain, watching the helicopter, and last remnant of Achkaskovka, disappear into the darkness. They were now on their own, and the only thing they can do is find the insurgents and provide support.

The two helicopters landed on the LAN Vadubice. Inspecting one last time, the maintenance crew saw that all supplies were dropped off. The helicopters were then moved inside the ship’s hangar. The flight deck officer radioed to Adámek, and soon the ship turned around and headed back to Achkaskovka.

1st June

The sounds of the young boys boots on the muddy ground filled the air. The unexpected rain had caused chaos for Insurgent and Government troops alike turning once dry dirt roads into slush and now the rebels were beginning to hear reports of helicopters in the mountains. Their mountains, mountains the government was scared to enter due to the high concentration of rebel troops there and their willingness to stand and fight every time the government pushed into the mountains now looked to have been breached by helicopters. "SIr! SIr!" The young boy said as he barreled into the house of Commander Ogar. Ogar turned to look at the boy as entered quickly and looked him up and down, "What's the matter boy?" He asked looking annoyed at the interruption to his breakfast but his face softened at the sight of the boy.
"SIr! We found where the helicopters were, it seems that a camp has been setup there by some troops."
"Government?"
"No sIr!" The boy said causing Ogar to look at him confused. The boy answered the look with a shrug as the morning sun continued to rise over the mountains.

Ogar left his house quickly and his guards immediately ran to him along with his aide Jeffry. "Sir?" Jeffry asked who was surprised to see his commander outside of his home at such an early hour when he should have been still eating his breakfast. "We have reports of troops in the mountains that don't belong to us and I only find out by the words of a boy?" Ogar gestures at the boy who was slowly moving away from the house. The boy turns and smiles at the Commander before turning and running through the mud to the outskirts of the village. "Sir we only have reports of helicopters coming in from the coast we thought government marines or something, we were going to radio one of the coastal commanders to hit them."
"NO! We go now. Get me two squads of men we're going to find these troops as soon as possible."

With that Ogar and twenty men headed out of Udu to find the new arrivals in Chimera...

President Parly sat with his head in his hands and his leg moving up and down at rapid speed. "Say it again?" He requested of Colonel Hun. Hun looked at him with a look of almost pity on his face. "That is the third mountain push we have attempted in the past week to fail violently. KIA equals around a hundred and WIA are still being counted sir." Parly slapped his hand on the desk making Hun jump and look rather shocked by the action. "Why don't they just give up Hun? Why? We liberated this nation it doesn't need a second revolution!" Parly moaned leaning back in his chair flustered by the situation. He had ordered the army to clear the mountains of rebels and each time the army attacked it was bloodied and beaten back. "Sir, General Haggart has said the army cannot maintain these losses. We have the rebels contained but if we continue to lose soldiers at this rate they will be able to win this war sir. He's requesting we institute mobilization to bolster the armies numbers to help make fighting this war easier."
"I'll call up the reservists who haven't already reported in and we'll think, and I mean a proper think we'll discuss this in the parliament when its finally elected in a week about conscription." Parly replied. With that he gestured and Hun left the office.

Achkaskovkan Camp, Mountains of South Chimera
Chimera

Late Morning, 1-6-2019

When they arrived to the mountains of southern Chimera a few days earlier, the Achkaskovkan special forces platoon searched for a location to set up camp. The location they chose was not too far away from where the helicopters dropped them off, and on high ground that was easy to defend from an attacking force. A temporary camp was set up at that location. Although the soldiers were instructed to begin a search for a group of rebels to support immediately after their arrival, the leader of the platoon, Lieutenant Oldřich Jaroš, ordered them to stay in the temporary camp for a few days. He hoped that an insurgent base may be nearby, and if there was, the insurgents would attempt to make contact with the group. Having the entire platoon march through the mountains would be extremely risky, by making them easy targets for any unknowing insurgent or government force, and would best be avoided if possible.

A total of forty-five Achkaskovkan soldiers stood at the temporary camp. A typical size for a platoon is forty-four men, containing four squads of ten men, and a four man command element. The command element included Lieutenant Jaroš, the platoon CO, as well as the platoon NCO, medic, and radioman. But this element included an extra man, Corporal Herbert Bednář. Bednář had a similar background to the rest of the soldiers. Upon completing primary and secondary education, and graduating from university, all people, regardless of their background, must complete military service. Some soldiers got selected to join the special forces, and received additional training. Bednář, while training for the special forces, was also selected to be an interpreter. Interpreters are trained in a language for several months, to the point that they can speak as well as a native speaker of the language. Bednář knows English, the language spoken in Chimera, and was sent to Chimera along with the platoon because of his skills in the language.

The soldiers sat in the camp, expecting another normal day. Many were reading various books that were brought along with the rest of the supplies. Within the supplies were an assortment books. A handful were in Achkaskovkan, mainly for the soldiers, while most were in English. Some of these books were written by Marx and Engels, and some are from more modern thinkers, including copies of a book authored by president of Achkaskovka, Ivan Ludvík. The soldiers passed time by reading books or discussing other matters, while some watched all sides of the camp, looking for insurgents, or government forces. The fifth day since the arrival would start off as a normal day, with nothing seeming too out of the ordinary. Most soldiers sat in their tents to avoid the rain that was falling on the mountains. A lance corporal was looking through binoculars into the mountains. As he was looking, something in the distance caught his eye. It was a group of soldiers, marching in the direction of the camp. They definitely looked more like rebels than government forces. The lance corporal immediately alerted Jaroš.

“Lieutenant” he began, “I think some insurgents are attempting to make contact.”

“Are you positive they are insurgents?” replied the lieutenant. He stood up and walked over to the solider, then reached his hand out for the binoculars.

“Yes sir.” said the soldier, as he passed his binoculars to the lieutenant.

“Which way?”

“Here.” The soldier pointed to the direction where he saw the insurgents. Jaroš looked in that direction, and he saw what the lance corporal found. Nearly two thousand insurgents marched in the direction of the camp. Jaroš handed the binoculars back to the lance corporal and told him to keep his eyes on the group. Jaroš then summoned Bednář and one squad. Bednář would stand near the front of the camp, where the insurgents looked like they were going to. He would hold an English copy of The Communist Manifesto. He was also the most important member of the group, and Jaroš knew this. In case the insurgents did not intend for this to be a peaceful encounter, two autoriflemen took cover near the interpreter. They would not be visible, and were under strict orders to not shot unless shot at first. All soldiers stood in position. As the insurgents walked closer, Jaroš stood back and hoped that nothing will go wrong.

Mountains of South Chimera
Late Morning of 1st June 2019

Commander Ogar walked briskly through the woods with his two dozen soldiers. He wasn't much concerned about being spotted, the mountains were rebel territory and if anyone did attack him they would find the full wrath of the rebel militia coming down on them. He had radioed his fellow Commanders, Roger and Rupert, to the north and they were both standing by for word from his second Jeffry on what to do next. Jeffry himself was hidden away on one of the nearby slopes looking down at the hill that the unknowns had setup their camp on with a radio set in his hot and sweaty little palm.

The twenty or so rebels broke the treeline in a solid line of men marching weapons held calmly on slings or across their chests. No one wanted to instigate a situation that couldn't be reversed. Ogar stopped his men and looked at the camp ahead. It seemed they had exited the forest at the side of the camp where its main entrance was. He smiled a grim smile, luck was not on his side today. He ordered the majority of his men back into the trees then radioed up to Jeffry, "Jeff?"
"Yes Commander?" Jeffry responded.
"I'm taking myself and four men up to the camps entrance, looks like someones waiting there for us. I'll radio up when I leave okay?" Ogar said calmly.
"Understood sir." Jeffry answered then lifted his binoculars upto his eyes and began to scan the area. There wasn't any other movement and the camp seemed well guarded except for the entrance where a lone man stood with a book. Jeffry knew it had to be too good to be true but he was ready to radio the other commanders.

Ogar turned round to his, "Back into the trees, John, Luke, Adam and Harry with me. Everyone else get cover." With that the four men he had named stepped forward and the rest walked back into the treeline attempting to hide as best they could in among the trees. With the men and women of his small detachment vanishing Ogar turned and started to walk towards the camp. As he drew near the man at the entrance he smiled and said, "Good morning. I am commander Ogar of the Udu resistance fighters, how may I help you today?"

Chimera

Late Morning, 1-6-2019

Corporal Herbert Bednář stood at the camp entrance, with five rebels in front of him. The man in front of the group introduced himself as Commander Ogar, from a group known as the Udu Resistance Fighters. It was clear to Bednář that he was not speaking with government forces, and they were the rebels that he was deployed to send aid to. Bednář responded to the commander, in perfect English, “Good morning, sir. I am Corporal Herbert Bednář fromAchkaskovka. We are here to aid your efforts against the Chimeran government.”

Louvířov District, Achkaskovka

Late Morning, 1-6-2019

Former General Oskar Vitek and General Teodor Polák stood in a small room of the building, before the desk in the center of the room. The small desk had papers in a neat stack on top of it, facing upside down. Both men carefully inspected the room, then sat in chairs on the two opposite sides of the desk. They eyed the shredder in the corner of the room, then the surrounding computer screens, which were turned off. The precautions were in fear of the People’s Foreign Intelligence Agency, or ZZA. The agency has been allegedly spying on many rival government officials, often by bugging rooms and tapping phone calls. The ZZA, as its name suggests, is a foreign intelligence agency. However, this was the only agency whose leader was loyal to President Ivan Ludvík, and the president let the agency have significant power, in both domestic and foreign affairs. This was nothing new, as previous leaders done so with various other agencies, not only intelligence. Redundancy and overlap is commonplace among Achkaskovkan government agencies, because of frequent power struggles.

Careful measures were taken by Vitek and Polák, who knew they have the possibility of being watched. They chose a relatively small room in the building to meet, a room that would not be the first choice of two people as high ranking as them. It was probably created as a meeting room between lower ranking officers working in the building. All armed forces of Achkaskovka are headquartered in the large building in which Vitek and Polák sat. It sits in central Louvířov, near other government buildings. The Achkaskovkan armed forces has two dozen service branches, all headquartered in the building. This too is because of the power struggles between former and current presidents, and other influential figures like Vitek. A large amount of these branches are various security forces, though Ludvík uses the ZZA as his police, security, and intelligence force. Polák himself is the general in charge of the special forces branch. The special forces also has its own police force.

Vitek and Polák took out pens. If there were microphones in the room, they would not catch the messages both officers wrote. Polák took a paper first, and wrote something before passing it to Vitek. Vitek read the statement. “I wanted to speak with you about the situation in Chimera.” Vitek remembered hearing the situation. The king was overthrown in a bloodless democratic coup, and a new strongly anti-communist leader was put in power. On state run media, Ludvík’s secretary congratulated Chimera for making a peaceful democratic transition, and stated that Achkaskovka will not interfere in the south, where a communist insurgency began. Any person who knew a little about Achkaskovka knew that was an empty promise. The country is known to be extremely aggressive with neighbors. Achkaskovka has been allegedly interfering in democratic elections across the Estarian continent, and whenever there is a communist insurgency, Achkaskovkan made weapons always end up in the hands of the rebels.

Polák passed several more pieces of paper. The first reported a platoon of special forces missing. The platoon in question is based in Louvířov. It was unlikely that it could do anything to disappear without notice. But Ludvík’s high command did not seem the least concerned about this. The last note made Vitek instantly know where it went. Ludvík personally ordered the special forces to go Chimera. Polák then passed another paper. It said something about the LAN Vadubice, but Vitek did not care. He passed back the paper after writing “Are they allowed to do this without consulting you?”. Polák read and responded quickly, passing back a paper that said “Ludvík, as commander in chief, could do what he wanted. Though this order was sent from the defense minister, probably under orders of Ludvík”. Vitek thanked Polák for his time, then placed the papers in the shredder. He then collected the shredded paper, and left the room, and disposed of the papers elsewhere. He knew it was best to not interfere in the president’s plan this time.

Achkaskovkan Camp, Mountains of South Chimera

Ogar looked at the man who had just spoken near flawless English to him and smiled. "Finally a fellow communist nation comes to join the fight! My good sir it is a pleasant surprise to find you in our mountains. I must ask though have you heard from any of the other commanders near here? Generals Omar and Kalsh are closer to this camp than my home village of Udu, have you had any contact from them?" Ogar asked looking at the Corporal.

Temple Prime
Chimera
Late Morning 1-6-2019

The explosion had rocked the marketplace beyond all comprehension of the people who had survived it. The police arrived nearly instantly to the 'terrorist incident' and began to investigate. The bomb had been planted underneath a large delivery truck that had been parked in the centre of the marketplace. Its axle was still lying where it had been sat the rest of the vehicle gone in the explosion. "Damned rebels." One police officer cursed before his superior came over to him.
"Not rebels I think we got a bit of a newer problem. Johnathan get the Chief on the bell, we need to report this up the chain." With that said the report went up. The truck had been carrying three men all believed to belong the Martini Crime family well known for kidnap, murder and drug and people trafficking back under the King. The Kings Military Police had often fought with the Martinis and had effectively crushed them. But now the MPs were deployed elsewhere to fight the rebels in the south and the regular police didn't have the manpower to tackle the wave of crime that had come post revolution.

"Sir?" The Head of the Temple Prime Police (TPP) stood in Parly's office nervously ringing his hands. Parly had his head lent against the window of his office looking out into the square in front of the New Presidential Palace. "Tell me again Frank." Parly finally said his voice strained and his eyes red from lack of sleep. Parly had been having trouble sleeping since the revolution and the burden of government had hit him. He was expecting mass violence any day now as the elections for local government representatives was soon to be announced and he knew the rebels in the south and their few scattered northern cells would cause problems. "Well sir, it seems the Martini Crime Family has made a strike at the people of Temple Prime in an attempt to let them know they are still here. So far the only survivors of the attack are saying they saw the truck pull up, three men jump out and then run off before the truck detonated. We count twenty-three people killed and eighty six wounded." Parly slammed his fist against the window causing it to shake. "Fuck me!" He yelled causing the TPP Head to jump with surprise. Parly was a softly spoken man normally but now it seemed he had lost control. "Frank I'm going to give your guys free reign to tackle these Martini's okay? Open up your arsenal and hit them hard, we need pay back for the Marketplace bombing and we need it now! Go!" With that Parly turned and gestured Frank out of his office. The TPP head left quickly thanking the President as he left. "This is chaos." Parly said to himself as he sat behind his desk and pulled another piece of paperwork towards him.

It was in the evening when all the other political matters of the government were handled. The National Security Council have met in the cabinet's office. The council itself was composed of the President, Premier, Deputy Premier, Minister of the Interior and the Ministers of Defence. The Chief of Intelligence Staff and the Chief of the General Staff were also present. "For those who didn't read the briefing, I will give a quick overview..." stated Michal Vrcek, the Chief of the Intelligence Staff. "With the fall of the monarchy in Chimera, a struggle between the current republican government and radical left-wing militants arose..." A series of documents were being projected on one of the walls of the room, as Vrcek continued. "We don't have much intel on the groupings of the rebels, we don't know their full strength nor their leadership structures. We are not even sure if it's a single homogenous group." He paused for a moment. "What we know is that they are quite successful in their actions so far. The Chimeran armed forces seem to be rather unsuccessful in their attempts to destroy the insurgency. And..." The projector showed a series of photos from the aftermath of the Temple Prime Attack. "This was their recent action."

Vrcek paused again and then proceeded to show a different set of photos. It showed a vessel on an open sea from a top-down view. "The Air Force had its satellites focused on the island for some time, taking photos... And one of them they saw this ship... After a few weeks of analysis, we concluded it's a warship... most likely a destroyer." Vrcek paused for the last time. "We are unsure to what nation this vessel belongs... Though we have some tips, they are listed in your folders of course... Nevertheless, this leads us to believe that Chimera insurgents are assisted by a foreign power." Following this sentence, the Chief of the Intelligence Staff returned to his seat, and the projectors shut down.

"It's obvious that following this escalation we can't stay silent..." said President Zeintek. "What are our military options?" He asked the Minister of Defence as well as the Chief of the General Staff sitting next to him. But before he could say anything, the Prime Minister Anna Jizcova voiced her concerns. "Mr President... I know that you are rather sceptical about my government's policy of non-interventionism... But if you want to send troops to Chimera... I ask you to keep the numbers to the minimum." The Chief of the General Staff, General Nowak sighed. "If we want to make a difference, we should send at least an airborne regimental task force, enhanced by a squadron of helicopters." President nodded... "How many men would that be?" he asked. "Around five-hundred, seven-hundred at max." Responded the General. "Of course I would also advise sending a submarine into the area. To intercept any other unwanted players" He added.

"Mrs Jizcova..." asked the President. "Are those numbers satisfactory to you?" The Premier nodded slightly. "I believe we can work with that, Mr President." Zeintek closed his folder and stood up. "Great... I believe that should be all for this meeting."
