Bleary eyed men stumbled haphazardly into what seemed to be another run-of-the-mill fast food place catering to those who were too lazy or too busy to cook their meals. They were also very right. It was just another fast food place in North Deneria's bustling capital. Provisional President Erich Schneider waved from an inconspicuous corner of the restaurant.
President Schneider cheerfully greeted them and began explaining the situation. "Gentlemen, I believe you are all probably wondering why I summoned all of you dead in the night to a fast food restaurant instead of the Central Administration Offices. Unfortunately, the entire building randomly got set on fire, good riddance first off since I hated that building, which is why I chose here for us to meet. You may be wondering why a seemingly random group of generals, admirals, government members, and businessmen are here. That will all be explained in one moment."
Immediately after President Schneider finished talking, an assertive-looking young man, who had appeared to be sleeping, jumped to attention. Without introducing himself, he began briefing the gathered group of people.
"As you all may know by now, the Republic of Leysland was invaded by Munkcestria at 0438 Hours yesterday. The situation looks increasingly grim for the Leyslanders with the Prime Minister dead, the population being enslaved, and the majority of the nation under occupation or being contested. The President has proposed that North Deneria declare its support for the Leyslanders and mobilize its army for a possible conflict. President Schneider has also proposed sending weapons and supplies to the Leyslanders to enable a protracted guerrilla war conducted by the natives. You have been gathered here to be consulted on the feasibility and wisdom of such an action."
After he finished his briefing, he dropped down onto a chair and fell asleep. Shocked expressions dominated the group's expressions which gave way to deep contemplation. General Terry Allen was the first to speak.
"President, I know that the Munkcestrian actions are abhorrent and condemnable. However, I feel obligated to point out that due to the recent government reorganization and the ongoing reorganization of the military will had an adverse effect on the combat capability of any force. I do agree that denouncing Venic- I mean Munkcestria would be a good move."
Department Head of Public Affairs stood up to hesitantly speak. "I think that if we are able to successfully support the Leyslanders in their time of need, the interim government would have their public opinion shoot up. It may be enough to actually make some progress with our constitution and government style and transfer to a unitary state. The interim government might actually become the legitimate government!"
Department Head of Foreign Relations began speaking in an agitated manner in his almost unintelligible accent. "Dauen't oeu csea? Hwui cen finarry vekam fiewed as de oepwoeldars of vraedem arnd damekkroci. Our brestige vuld choot up."
President Schneider began speaking once again in his calm, soothing voice that achieved him the Presidency in the interim government. "Well gentlemen, if there are no more questions or comments, I will call the Governing Council and call for an official denouncing of the Munkcestrian actions as immoral and corrupt. For now, that is all we will do. An, oh yes, General Terry Allen, you were only half-right. The foreign intervention force is almost ready to be deployed and the regular forces are also almost ready. Its just your division that isn't. You're a good commander but you should get used to organizing faster and better. Thank you all for coming at a strange time. I had woken up from a 13 hour sleep and just received the news. More detailed plans of actions will be sent to you all soon."
As everyone began shuffling out of the restaurant, they were filled with determination to get their act together and get their respective organizations back up to shape.
