Asteria has always been a large foreign investor within the Southern Balkans region, but recent investments within Greater Kosovo has brought that standing to a whole new level. The Asterian government has given the Kosovan government a 40-year $20Mn loan, at 4.5% interest, to develop the countries oil fields. In return, Asteria will acquire 5% of the oil the country produces. Economists have likened this deal to the ones conducted by the Landersvichian bank HLR in various African nations. In addition, Asterian construction companies will be building $450Mn worth of infrastructure within Greater Kosovo, at a competitive fee to other European companies. In addition, Greater Kosovo agrees to sell vital minerals and ores to Asteria at a special discount in order to supply the nation's metal consumption. Independent Asterian investors and financial institutions have also began to invest the nations drilling, mining, and manufacturing operations in hopes of great profits. Greater Kosovo is quickly becoming a major point of interest for the Asterian people.

Politically, Asteria has offered Greater Kosovo its unconditional support in its endeavors, and hopes to become much closer with the nation. Officially, the countries of Asteria and Greater Kosovo have signed a non-aggression pact, a sign of growing trust and friendship between the two nations. President Valerieva has invited General Marko Đurić to the Presidential Palace in Athens for a diplomatic visit between the two leaders, and to show the General the potential benefits Asterian economic assistance can provide to Greater Kosovo.

While the Asterian people do rely on the Bosporus Strait for lucrative trade with Pavlovsk, it is asinine for a foreign government to believe that we would give up rightfully Asterian land for something as silly as access to a canal. Need I remind you King of Oghuz that it was you who originally invaded the innocent people of Asteria? By all accounts of history, the "Cheramoti-Chrisopoli Estate", as the Oghuzi call it, is Asterian soil through and through. The 120,000+ hectares that Oghuz demands is now home to thousands of Asterian citizens, businesses, and industry. It does not belong to the state as they wrongly said. It has been part of the private sector ever since the beginning of Asterian Rykovian Socialism. It is not the governments place to seize land from the populace who worked so hard to obtain it, and we will not cower to the same nation who we won independence from. It was the weakness of the Oghuzi crown that allowed the Asterian people to revolt in 1916, and it seems that ever since that crown has been reinstated Oghuz has regressed to a foreign policy of all bark and no bite. Until further notice, Asterian land will remain Asterian land indefinitely.

The luxury clothing brand Bair Jolsanaro have announced the company is still growing but they need new ideas. The company has announced they will be taking ideas from people around the world before choosing the next top designer for the clothing line. The company will take all ideas and a small fee of $99. Once the company receives all the ideas they will chose one to take and release as the next big thing. The designer will be chosen and hired on receiving a six figure salary.

Current approval ratings and polls have been released. President Cortez has stayed consistent at 61%. Senator Bowman, the leader of the Senate, shockingly rolled in a 60% approval rating showing the nation is not as split as thought. In the Governor race in the Caribbean Congresswomen Tejador is polling bringing in 78% of the vote while current Governor Espina who will be the last appointed Governor is bringing in remaining 22%.
Queen Mary's approval rating has stayed high at 93%. The Queens wedding is set next month. Harrison McCarthy has carried a approval rating of 56% in Alicia.

This warlike nation has been both a boon and thorn in our side. If they ever calm down and hand over Tibet we could get along. We do wish they were more like Yahel when it comes to religion. They have recently become a major power in the region but one we can still easly manage if they decided to come our direction or threaten our interests.

Pavlovsk acquires the Bosporus Strait, Oghuz joins Glascom

The State Committee announced today that the FPRP had agreed to a deal with the nation of Oghuz which transferred ownership of the Bosporus Strait, along with the Dardanelles Narrows, to Pavlovsk. In exchange for control over the strait, the Oghuzian state has been granted the status of full membership into Glascom. This means that Oghuz is the sixth member of Glascom, and now has a vote in the Glascom Council in Tashkent. Glascom leadership is reportedly already working with Oghuzian leadership to eliminate all tariffs and border restrictions between Oghuz and other Glascom members, and bring Oghuz up to code with all Glascom policies.

A new governmental agency called the "Pavlovski Strait Authority" (PSA) has been established, and will be tasked with managing regulations and fees at the strait along with ensuring safe passage through the area for civilians. A small detachment of the Black Sea fleet consisting primarily of coast guard ships and patrol boats has been dispatched to the naval bases in the region, and will now be acting as part of the Pavlovski Strait Authority.

The General Secretary gave brief remarks regarding the deal this afternoon, stating that he was "glad that the new Oghuzian government is willing to set ideological differences aside in the name of greater prosperity and cooperation."

Government releases budget plan for new infrastructure project

President Wengu has released a new budgeting plan for an impressively large-scale infrastructure development project within Asteria. The plan calls for 10,000km of two-lane paved road (total $20Bn), 5,000km of four-lane highway (total $20Bn), and 1,000km of rail ($2.3Bn). Taxes will be temporarily raised by 2% across all brackets for the next five years to compensate for the development costs. In total, the project costs $42.3Bn, and is expected to take around 6-7 years to complete, although parts of it will be available for travel as more and more is constructed. The construction will be done by multiple state owned companies, a few of which President Wengu himself owns large stakes in. The plan will be partially financed by the Bank of Athens and Hutchinson-Ford. It seems our honorable President Wengu wants to help us connect with our brethren so we can further develop a sense of brotherhood and nationality, he is like a doting father to all of us.

President Wengu has also announced plans to further increase the government's role in the Asterian economy. Plans are underway to greatly expand the influence and role of the state-owned Bank of Asteria to make it an indomitable competitor in the national finance sector. On a somewhat contradicting note, the government has begun to sell small stakes in some key sectors such as electricity and mining, allowing for more Asterians to amass personal fortunes of their own. President Wengu plans to travel to Bosnia later this month to meet with General Đurić about the future relations between Greater Kosovo and Asteria.

Eliseo Arias Arrested in the Bahamas
Eliseo Arias, born 1/2/1969, was known in his hometown of Salina Cruza to be a boy genius, skipping years in school and having IQ tests that rank far higher than most adults. By the age of 7, Eliseo could already speak English, Spanish and German. He received various distinctions, awards and many people claimed his potential was endless.

However, in the summer of 1985, when Eliseo was 16, he started acting differently. Schoolmates, teachers and his own parents say the change was obvious and sudden. Eliseo, while retaining and maybe even expanding his intellect, started falling in with drug cartel members. It's important to note that the cartels had real control over Salina Cruz in the 80s. Arias specifically befriended Santiago Alarcón, son of Cartel Leader Samuel Alarcón. Alarcón ran the relatively small scale but efficient cartel known as Los Defensores del Infierno, commonly known as just Los Defensores.

Thanks to Arias' friendship with Alarcón and his ability to enhance the power of the cartel with his well thought out plans and solutions, Arias rose through the cartel ranks fast, becoming a person favourite of Samuel Alarcón.

Arias continued his schooling despite Cartel activities and wrote in his journals of using the money he'd made from the Cartel to study in Texas of Britannia, however, when Tolucan Federal Police busted Los Defensores in 1987, Arias was forced to go on the run, his hopeful future washed away.

Police suspect that Arias then fled to Barnetia, a place where he would be free from Tolucan justice. From there, he began preparations for his own drug operations, hoping to export primarily to Texas and the UPS.

By 1990, the then 21-year-old Arias had become a major player in the American Drug Scene. He was renowned for his ability to make large profits without resorting to violence, at least to the same extant of other cartels. Arias' intelligence served him well in the drug trade, he's said. It allowed him to make efficient, calculated and profitable decisions while never seeming to get caught, despite both Tolucan and Barnetian authorities trying their hardest.

They would have caught me back in '89 and '90 if Toluca and Barnetia worked together to catch me. The clues were all there. It's sheer incompetency from the law enforcement.

Arias planned to meet with dealers in Europe later this month. He was seen boarding a private plane in the Bahamas, something he'd done many times before, he's said. The guard who apprehended him said he recognised him from a crime documentary he'd watched on television.

Currently, Eliseo Arias is being held in Santo Domingo to appear for trial, questioning and interrogation. We're all eager to see this druglord put to rest.

Hundreds of Arrests made following intel from Eliseo Arias
Following Eliseo Arias' arrest on the 6th earlier this month, Arias' subsequent interrogation and questioning brought forth thousands of words of information, regarding Arias' personal life, the American Drug Scene, related crimes and Arias' interactions with other prominent druglords and dealers. Federal Police Commissioner, Roy Bush, had this to say about Arias' interrogation.

We had in the room for over 30 hours. He was calm, hauntingly calm for a man who could be facing an execution. On top of that, he just kept talking. Every second, something new. Something I realised about Arias when we were interrogating him was the fact that he's not a normal person. He's charismatic, calculated and charming. You could scarcely tell that this was the man that ordered heinous crimes to meet his bottom line ... I think Arias had accepted his fate. He gave up mounds of valuable information knowing full well the repercussions from law enforcement and his old drug buddies.

Over 150 prominent arrests have been made thanks to Arias' info. The Governor of Carib, Fernando Sáenz, has said he'll grant Arias one, reasonable request for his efforts. In the Governors words, "He's been instrumental to reducing crime in Carib and Toluca. He deserves some kind of reward."

Many are criticising Sáenz's decision but the Governor is remaining firm.

A large sales tax increase has been announced for all manufactured products. the current 5% tax is being increased to 50% this means if a product cost 100 yuan before taxes it will now cost 150 yuan after taxes. The new taxes will help pay for improved education, parks, and law enforcement.
Anyone found rioting over the tax increase will result in a 2 months in a labor camp. the tax increase was initiated by a bill put forward by the Chairman and passed by a large majority by the Poliburo.

Constitutional restoration referendum passes
Voters overwhelmingly approved the restoration of the Constitution of 1883

SANTA ROSA - A referendum called by Prime Minister Antonio Lardesi on whether or not the Constitution of Santa Rosa should be restored took place yesterday. After the votes were tallied overnight, the electorate voted 87.4% in favor of restoring the Constitution.

The Constitution was "suspended" in 1991 after General Paul Oppenheimer and the military overthrew President Tito Perez. Oppenheimer was then proclaimed President extra-constitutionally. Oppenheimer still remains President.

Following the results of the referendum, Lardesi stated that the full restoration of the Constitution will take place throughout the first half of next year. The first round of presidential elections will take place on April 20, 1994. Oppenheimer has declined to run.

The Government Junta, which initially opposed the referendum, has not made a comment on the results.

Pontifical Guard Commissions International Regiments
October 3rd, 1993

Recognizing that Catholicism is a global faith, the Mbale Catholic Church has allowed the formation of international Pontifical Guard regiments from believers all over the world. Upon passing basic training, new members of the Pontifical Guard will be granted Mbale citizenship (dual citizenship is permitted) and if they were prior armed forces members in their home nation, they will be allowed to retain their previous rank. The new initiative has seen the formation of the 1st Santa Rosan Holy Rifle Regiment composed of 2,000 Santa Rosans of African Descent. They are led by Guard Captain Alfonso Iweobiegbulam, a veteran of the Santa Rosan Army.

Kalandran, Oghuz, Yaheli, Kaaplandian, Igbo, and Nyalan Regiments are currently being populated by volunteers, though their numbers are insufficient to form a proper Regiment. Guard Commander Mitiku has stated that the greatest challenge facing the project has been the sheer amount of applicants that require extensive Swahili and Simplified Dutch education.

We have brave followers all over the world who wish to die serving under the banner of Crystumbo, but if they wish to be of any use then they must be able to communicate with us. The Church has spent over two million guilders getting the Santa Rosans up to speed. If we wish to mobilize an international force we will require innovative and cost effective language teaching techniques. In the meantime, we urge foreign volunteers to study Simplified Dutch or Swahili at their local churches prior to enlistment.
