Apologies - squeezed out a post, felt bad I've been so busy. Not the quality I would've liked, sorry if it feels a bit rushed.

Almost there....

As a clarification, when I use the term "Anglo", I mean it in the historical sense as used in the Southwest and California- to refer to Americans and Europeans.

And we’re done. Three articles, one skeptical, one supportive, and one opposed.

For reference: the Times is a conservative paper, aligned with the Royalists, the Dubian is a liberal paper, aligned with the Social Democrats, and the Commodore is a populist paper, aligned with the Social Democrats.

The Social Democrats used to have a pretty broad coalition, thus why they traditionally could count on the endorsement of two papers instead of just one.

Forgot to bring up the Africa bit, I’ll just have the Brukean officials ask about that during the summit.

It’s not... reallly.... though?

Unless you’re talking about the BBC or NPR (they’re still biased but they try to mlKd it not blatant and do well in reporting non-ideologically-based news (like local news).

For example, the Wall Street Journal is conservative, the New York Times is liberal- they don’t say it but you can figure it out from their editorial pieces.

Not in current events, I mean how it's really supposed to be. Isn't there some sort of rule for that?

Huh..could've sworn I read that the ideal media should be 100% objective and not have any leanings at all..welp, gonna read IC posts and adjust accordingly.

Ideally, yes and no. Humans write papers, and humans are biased, so papers will inevitably have some bias.

Better to be up front about it I say.

I apologize for my own inactivity. With March closing in, I'm hoping we can escalate the situation as quickly as we can be fast-forwarding some events.

I also want everyone to be aware of Samporna's own open-sabotage RP, Green Tides.

Still, no pressure on everyone. Let's all stay calm and try to have fun!

Yes.

No need to RP the technicalities, you can just waltz in when Anglo replies and I set the rally up.

Im thinking I describe how the agents have been handing out flyers the last couple of days, giving speeches, stirring up trouble with controversial anti-military sentiment at local pubs, and even finding the true hardliners and arming them with weaponry from the compound, providing them with some basic training. Then I transition to you to set up the rally? Is that okay?

That can be arranged for, yes. Although I was hoping you don't meet Maru until the rally itself. Also, I'll be announcing the Head of Government's arrival in Melanesia soon, so maybe you'll want to gather Anti-Fernando Lawrencio agitators. Additionally, military personnel, when drunk, make great compatriots for uprisings.

Also, you have the creative liberty to add rooms within the Anglomir HQ in the compound; as well as anything else you need.

Not to mention, low-level military personnel will swap their guns for beer, and report the gun as MIA. This was how my grandfather made cash during the Vietnam War.

It was a real pain to write. I wanted to emphasize the nuances of each of the views and use it to shed light on the divide between the provinces (PB and Metro vs. Central) and the political divides over issues of class, national security, etc. But mostly class.

Also,to flex how RL Californian history interacts with Brukean history. You have a lot to work with here, PAS- so have fun with it!

Of course, the Times should not be taken as the official opinion of the Government- but it will be very very influential with Cabinet ministers, along with Royalist MHDs and Senators.

Btw, Anglo, Maru will hopefully be arbitrary. Since Maru's a Congressional candidate, he won't be very favorable to full-blown violence; however, the constituents of the rally will most likely instigate a riot. I'll respond soon.

Oh, and, Bruke, are you g for an action-type phase of the RP for when your reporters arrive? I think it'll be fun, stakes higher if you send someone expendable who can die at the riot, but it's fine too if you don't want to do this.

I need the 'uprising' to fail so I can get an excuse for the Head of Government to fly-in under the pretext of reorganizing the government amidst the anarchy; which you can then opportune to assassinate him. That'll be in the coming days.

For a quick rundown of immediately upcoming events however, this is what I had in mind:

(Attn. Kjalaraa and Anglo)

  1. The rally starts, protestors bark at PASAF military units, led by the Melanesian State-President.
  2. QnA portion begins with Congressman Maru for foreign reporters.
  3. Shouts become louder, radicals suggest marching on the District Assembly (State Parliament), and riot police are called to disperse the rally.
  4. The Melanesian State-President is shot and killed during the demonstrations; you can have Agent Carlson do this amidst the anarchy.
  5. Anglomir-funded radicals seize key ports as a sign of protest; micking events in Vladivostok (see news thread).
  6. Military personnel are ordered to intervene, city is shut-down, curfews imposed, martial law declared.

Let's keep the uprising within the city, and casualties below 30, to keep things realistic. Besides, too many armed protestors will heighten suspect of foreign intervention.

Anglo subversive agents can hide among the mob of protestors.

If OOC time becomes a problem, we can RP this over several days, so everyone keep the timestamp headings on 25. Although OOCly, let's get this entire first phase done before March ends. The first week of April can focus on post-riot proceedings and for you guys to stage a possible parallel intervention in Samporna.

Again, I highly recommend joining his RP, as it's vitally connected to this one and to my region's.

I went over and had a look; was signing up but I don't really have a military factbook or an ORBAT written up yet. Also, I am kinda set in a fictional world, but for earth-based timelines I always lean towards being located in Australia, where white people ended up becoming the indigenous peoples, due to my fictional climate and geography being based off Australia; however, thats kinda a bit too alternate-timeline for your region I'd imagine. Another place I'd consider placing Anglomir is southern Russia close to Georgia/Turkey/Kazakhstan, or even Romania, as the climate is reasonably alright there too, but again I know you have already established operations in the Sino-Kazakh region.

I'm fine with having the one reporter already mentioned in the Dubian's editorial die- shell be a young reporter taken too soon.

I cannot join the other RP though, with this and my own RP, and the Washington RP it would take too much RL time to write high-quality posts, and I dont have enough a complete military factbook or enough military knowledge to really military RP (realized this the hard way in the Diyaristan RP)
