As Harper rushed through the city, a previously-unnoticed earpiece crackled. A familiar, feminine voice spoke.
"Hello, Harper. Been a long time, no?"

City outskirts, somewhere in Saranidia

Ducking into an empty set of crumbling sandstone buildings that started to border the interior of the city, Harper checked his surroundings with a drawn weapon, inspecting for Saranidian police or hostile intelligence bugs before answering the call.

"Didn't feel like too long for me, Erika- but I did miss you, I'll say that." Harper chuckled slightly to himself.
"Guess you've spotted my ride in. I have to say, a lot can happen in a short period. You here the same reason I'm here?"

Harper's STA buzzed with a new call- a compatriot partly in charge of the mission.
"Hey, Erika- I'll get to you in a moment. I gotta answer this, sorry."

Consulting a watch-like device, he switched channels to the caller, as the voice of Quartermaster Takeshi Maxwell crackled over the airwaves. Harper could already see the green combat jacket and blond hair flapping slightly as he spoke into the mike.
"Sonny, what the hell is happening?"

A Japanese-Exodian billionaire entrepreneur and perhaps the unofficial face of the White Widow syndicate cartel in the world of foreign affairs and international incidents, Maxwell controlled and invested in many facets of business, both honest and illicit- from oil rigs to money laundering, and has taken refugee and mercenary alike under his wing.
The former Army Amphibious soldier has largely stayed away from the public's eye (for good reason), unlike his more well-known fashionista sister, but that didn't stop him from taking part in various occurrences and clashes from behind the scenes- or striking a deal with the Exodian government for a joint operation like this one.

"I can't say so far, Boss. Just maybe half an hour in and there's already war, peace, and war declarations echoing down the streets and on the Internet." was Harper's quick defense. "It's damn hard out here without getting my ass spotted by those bastards running the police force- too much like Asha-Wang for me to get used to.” He sighed, blowing out his cheeks as he remembered the totalitarian secret police force he used to be a part of, forced by the Communists to be their symbol.

“Well, you have to get moving somehow. Either blend in somehow or sneak your way through- but you need to be at the mission area by tonight, sharp. Anything could happen to my boy at any second- not to mention the other infiltrators.” Maxwell spoke.

“Roger.” Harper’s curt response came.

“And do me a favor, Harper. I know you’re Fed-employed, and that we’re working with Feds on this one. Give a call over to Diego for me- he might not like me but he deserves his peace of mind. I can’t imagine what Shang went through when he dealt with those fuckers in Azadistan.”

“Shang…” Harper echoed the name to himself. “I’ll think of doing that, Boss.”

“Good luck and Godspeed, Harper. Maxwell out.”



The young man shook his head a couple times, clearing his mind, before advancing stealthily into the town and towards the inner city- patching back into his radio call with Erika along the way.

After conversing with the professor for military strategy, Badr al-Din was relieved. But, when the announcement came that the country was at war with the Polish-Prussian Commonwealth, he let out a sigh and texted to his parents about the situation. All he got in reply was this:

He was rather infuriated that it had taken so long for him to be greeted, and indirectly at that, but regardless, he had a mission to accomplish. When he entered the room, he was surprised to see one of his co-religionists, a Catholic, leading the class. Still in dress uniform but having dropped his gear off at his quarters, he took a seat in the back of the classroom. This would be interesting, but he was grateful that his country would not be getting entangled with this war that was brewing. There was enough tension in Cornellia without having to ship troops two weeks off to some shithole country halfway across the world, and most of these idiots seemed to be unwilling to deal with foreigners as it is.

Suleiman simply stared at the text and sighed, texting a simple "Talk to you later". He wasn't exactly thrilled about the prospect of tying himself to what he viewed as an inept political system, one that warred as often as the "imperialist westerners" that it detracted. But, he realized something, several things in fact:

Islam permitted polygyny.
He was the only remotely intelligent person in this entire school, and current chain of command.
Said chain of command would probably give him the sultanate if he were to do something utterly asinine...because of some bizarre logic.
Suleiman was never one for treason, but then again, if he was preventing the school and Muslims from being persecuted, and advancing the cause of Dar-Al-Islam, it would be worth it. That's at least, what he'll tell himself, and hopefully what the history books would say.

When the opportunity presented itself, he would arrange for himself, his father, and Fatimah's intimates to negotiate the actual date of the wedding, and the logistics of it. If they wanted Sulieman to be an Emir, he'll milk it for all it's worth. Already, the seeds of revolt were being sown, not by the West's design, but of his own.
