Leozina

"Yes Sir!" Rasvan was quick to salute his two friends. "Attack the airport with everything we have! Now you are talking my language." His hand still on the red beret he continues. I'll draft a letter and reply to Tabolov. It is a figure of speech you know? 'I'll write to Tabolov' as in 'Go tell the Spartans?' No? 'Something is rotten in Denmark?' No? 'Furthermore…' Well, all right. All right, forget it. Doesn't really matter. Mr. Thatcher get's it. So, about that proposal. Err. Mr. Tavitian has allowed us to open branches of our organization in the territory controlled by him and his allies and he has offered us a full military alliance as equal partners. These were his terms. Now if your Excellencies would excuse me I have an airport to take!"

The Presidential Palace

"How to proceed from here?" Valaska sighs. "Well, there are three threats to stability that need removing. Balan and his gang of blackshirts, Tavitian and his thugs and the traitors in the north. If these obstacles come down the rest will fall in place. We can't engage the renegades. They are too strong and they had plenty of time to fortify their positions. Balan is out of reach and Tavitian seems to have hired mercenaries on a considerable scale. Before we liberate the north we must crush him and his reckless plans to reform the UGF. If we succeed with that we have only one enemy left. The north."

Port Serenity

Mirela smiled her smile. "Very weak, yes. Broken so to say. That is why they are not called the Steel Blade or the Dark Daggers but the Broken Knife. You have never heard of them and neither has anybody else. So don't worry." Pointing at her helicopter she adds. "I have a gold plated helicopter, but so has the King, I have one of the damn nails the Romans used to nail that jewboy to the tree, hell I even have Beowulf's damn chain shirt or whatever that thing is called. Diplomatic immunity is cool. I want it. No one else has it." With her eyes hidden behind her shades she takes a long look at her two friends. "As you said, the knife is very, very weak. Probably they don't have the assets to get this done. Or somewhere, someone likes plausible deniability? We will never find out, will we? Agreed, the targets are no easy targets. These jobs need a lot of preparation and a lot energy. These people are currently investigating the Broken Knife in one form or the other. What I want you to do is to convince them to stop these investigations. They are a waste of time. They need to focus on greater things. Take your time to investigate these people more thoroughly. Use your contacts and resources. And don't get caught. You might compromise your agency and we would not want that."

The Syndicate Coast

"We want to talk. There is someone you need to meet. People who have influence and power." One of the gangsters took a small hand grenade from his pockets and tossed it to one of his friends who tossed it to the next one and so on. "If you want to meet them we need a few things. The first thing we need is a portable radar. We will send a guy to pick it up. And 50,000 Syndicated Yen as compensation for our friend here." Tossing a second grenade to his friends he continued. "If we get the stuff we meet you at a light house not far from here. You will meet three guys there, they are the ones that will decide the outcome of this conflict. You probably don't want to miss this opportunity." As he had finished his sentence both grenades ended back up with him. He requests one of the other guys to toss him a third one and to pass the time he starts juggling them around.

Death on the Telin

It was much more difficult to navigate the Telin then previously anticipated. For the brave volunteers of the CHU relief deliver it was a tough job. At every stop blind passengers tried to get on board, on one occasion a woman simply threw her child on the boat to force the aid workers to take it with them. All bridges had been destroyed and makeshift ferries had to be used to cross the river. There was no starvation, no plague and nothing like an apocalypse but there was despair and suffering everywhere. People went hungry and violence was all around.

When the crew finally reached Kolvce the situation was worse. Whole villages were deserted and occasionally bodies came drifting down the river. The last delivery of coal had mysteriously disappeared and there was no heating and no electricity for days. Next to the hospital were piles of dead bodies and the authorities were quick to bury these in the cold ground.

Leozina Airport

"For the King and Posteastan, Chaaaaaaarge!"
Gunshots cracked as the Royalists stormed towards the gates of the airport, bayonets affixed and crucifixes round their necks toward them against enemy bullets. A few hours later this letter arrived in Mr. Thatchers hotel.

I have made it. I have taken the airport. It is ours now. There is a small group of soldiers who have barricaded themselves in. They want to talk to you. They are foreigners. I have no experience in engineering but I do have specialists wo know their trade. They will assess the damage done to the airport.

Upon hearing the battle cry, the platoon began sprinting towards the helicopter without looking back, only running faster as bullets started whizzing past their ears. The pilot n\\heard the gunshots and noticed the group running towards his bird and then the second group behind them. Well shit. He thought as he started the heli as the combat engineers, one by one, clamber into the chopper. "Get this fucking bird of the ground now!" the platoon sergeant shouted at the pilot who quickly shot back "I am!" A grunt mounted the door mounted machine gun and began firing to suppress the Royalists. The helicopter lifted into the sky and flew off, with dozens of holes in it's aluminum skin and a load of wounded soldiers.

I had to change some things to reflect Posteastan's response. Forgive me!

LEOZINA

Just then, a young girl came sprinting into the crowded tea room, searching for Thatcher. She was dressed in a yellowed old blouse, dark skirt and apron, and looked like a maid.

“Mr Thatcher, Sir; a message for you at the hotel. From... a Mr Luca.”
“Thank you Miss,” he said, pressing a Nortan copper penny into her hand.
“Well, what does it say Mr Thatcher?” asked East. Thatcher was incredulous.
“It appears that Rasvan Luca, the de facto citizen leader of the Royalist movement, has decided to take the airport by himself... and has actually succeeded. I hope there have not been any great number of casualties. Perhaps you ought to deal with these men. He wants me to go and meet with their captives apparently.”
“Is that a good idea? How can we be sure that it's from this Luca man? No, I think you had ought to send someone to run a message over and get Luca to come back and talk, leaving his men there to guard the prisoners.”
“Hmm, perhaps that would be a better idea. It may indeed be a trap, and Rasvan and his men may be themselves captured or killed.”

He took a scrap of paper from his notebook and scribbled a short message in Posteastan.

Dear Mr Luca,

This is Michael Thatcher. Please return to the Royalist HQ and we will discuss how to proceed from here.
Leave your men there to guard your captives and to secure the airport.

Thatcher.

This done, he spotted a familiar face; one of Rasvan's friends, and slipped the message to him and told him to deliver it to Rasvan at the airport. A penny or two would come his way for a quick and speedy delivery and return with the man. Meanwhile, Thatcher and East decided to continue their planned activities.

“You can speak Posteastan Sir John, I hope.”
“Yes, I know a bit of it; enough to discuss what I need to anyway. I may need your assistance however if we decide to stray onto the subjects of road-kill and the flora and fauna of Leozina, ha!”

“Hallo! Gentlemen! May I have your attention please,” Thatcher said loudly in Posteastan, standing on a table, gesturing for silence. “As you may know, I am Michael Thatcher, His Erbonian Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Posteastan, and I suppose, am acting on my orders from our good friend Sir Alexander [cheering] as Mr Rasvan Luca's superior within the Royalist Movement. [Crowd murmurs excitedly] I would like to introduce you all to Sir John East.”

East raised his hands in recognition, as the crowd's murmuring increased exponentially.

“He is the officer in charge of the Posteastan Alms Society of Great Nortend, a charitable organisation based in Great Nortend, whence I am from, and which, I am pleased to say, has our good friend again, Sir Alexander, on its Court of Directours. Sir John intends to begin the society's uh preliminary, operations immediately, by organising your men into an orderly and effective militia.”

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Novenville

Across the Minister’s desk laid a mountain of reports from the past week on the situation in Posteastan. While the situation had only gotten more complex by the day, news of these new developments arrived to Rivienland at a snail pace.

“At long last, Viscount Vandamme has finally made a decision,” sneered Count Moncheur et d’Orban, Minister of Foreign Affairs. “Two weeks. Two weeks of slow debate while our allies and enemies plotted and took action. While we will be able to eventually catch up, we shall be quite disadvantaged.” The Count laid back, taking a deep inhale of his cigar.

Across from him sat Sir Edourard, legs crossed and listening attentively. Only in his mid-thirties, there was no doubt not only an age gap, as the Count was in his mid-fifties, but also a difference in vision. While Sir Edourard could easily see the potential opportunity of getting Rivienland involved in Posteastan, there were also obvious risks for the Grand Duchy, both domestic and abroad. Rumors of Rivienland’s possible involvement in the Posteastan Crisis had been met with mixed reactions by the people. While some saw it time for Rivienland to expand onto the world stage, others simply saw it as a lost conflict which the Grand Duchy could not even afford to get involved in. Abroad Rivienland was on track to make new allies, but at a grave cost. Sir Edourard had read the report claiming that other socialist nations on the continent had started becoming aware of Rivienland’s preference for the restoration of the Posteastanian monarchy. Only joining Forest a few mere months ago, already Rivienland was putting not only its reputation, but its boarders at risk. But for the Count, there was no turning back.

“But,” he placed his cigar in the ashtray and leaned forward, “with the green light from both the monarch and the Prime Minister, we can begin our good work.” The Count sprung from his chair with a renewed energy and begun to pace back and forth. “First, I must address these allegations of non-neutrality, and form our position before Forest. The backing of Forest would not only greatly assist us in our endeavors, but it would also prevent any further support of the socialist agenda. Second,” he stopped pacing, and focused his gaze on Sir Edourard, “you will write to Sir Alexandre requesting an informal audience. I am placing you as my primary contact when dealing with Posteastan. We must get a greater grasp on the situation, and begin coordinating with our allies. I will need men on the ground, men we can trust, and you shall coordinate it all.”

“I do not know what to say…” Sir Edourard was caught completely off guard. He expected to serve in some compacity in the Posteastan Crisis, but to have this great of a task?

“Say nothing, Sir Edourard, and simply get to work.” The Count took a few steps towards Sir Edourard, now practically towering over him. “We have much to accomplish in these next few weeks, and I will not accept any hesitation.”

PROTOCOL OF A MEETING OF THE SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON ABOLITION

SENATOR CHRISTINA KLINSKAYA [LIBERTARIAN-NEW ATTICA] Grand-Ambassador, I'm deeply displeased. What is this we hear about sex workers being murdered, by the factions you have backed, with the weapons that the Allanean taxpayer has paid for?

GRAND AMBASSADOR PETER NIZHINSKY. Senator, we have not 'backed' the so-called Moralists. We have provided reconstruction aid, and a limited amount of police training. We have been explicit throughout this crisis that we are willing to help virtually any faction, and all factions at once, if they but help us destroy the Syndicate. This is our sole priority.

KLINSKAYA. Grand Ambassador, this is ludicrous. In any context but this one, you would claim that giving a faction arms and training to shoot people constitutes backing it. So, I ask you. What have you done to resolve the issue of the sex worker murders?

NIZHINSKY. One, we have worked with the Moralists to replace the killings with some manner of prison term, which I admit is not the best thing in the world, but it is better than would have happened had Allanea not been involved. There'sd thousands of nations where prostitution is illegal, and we work with quite a few of them. Beyond this, we are working to find ways for the sex workers from Posteastan to claim asylum in Allanea, as well as Xirnium, they've agreed to help also.

KLINSKAYA. What do you mean, "find ways"? Is there not an airfield in the Moralist territory? Can we not just airlift the women out? A whorelift, so to speak?"

NIZHINSKY. No, there is not an airfield in Moralist territory. It has been… seized by the Monarchists. About… several hours before this meetings started, Madam Senator.

KLINSKAYA. Splendid. Just splendid. Well get back to your office, before this airfield gets seized by some other faction, Floppy-Eared Maoists or some other twats.

Somewhere in Posteastan, outside Willy Loman's home

Of course, the target's name was not Willy Loman. This was just the codename the assassin's superiors have given the man – from a play, apparently. It wasn't one that the assassin had ever read – he found modern plays boring, and his tastes lay elsewhere. As a matter of fact, he preferred poetry – for professional reasons. You can memorize poems, and they remain with you always – even when your music player fails, when you have no books with you, when you are lying in wait for hours in the snow.

Right now, however, the man's music player was working just fine. The fugue calmed him, and he looked through his rifle's scope. It was already aimed and adjusted properly, his crosshairs on the center of a front door, the front door of the target's house. In a few minutes, Willy Loman, a mid-tier Syndicate accountant, would open his front door.

He let the music flow through his mind, for a few minutes he allowed himself to think of nothing but the music, his breathing deep and measured – until, at last, he saw the door handle move.

Hundreds of yards away, "Leman" smiled at the morning sky as he exited the house, briefcase in one hand, travel mug in the other. He breathed in the fresh air, enjoying the beginning of a new and wonderful day. He did not know that, hundreds of yards away, the assassin's finger was already pressing down on the trigger.

The accountant's head jerked backward, as if he had been punched. Blood blossomed on his pressed shirt. For the first half-second or so, as he fell, he felt absolutely no pain, and suddenly the clear-blue, painfully beautiful sky was all that he saw.

* * *

The letter arrived in Goran Popovich's house a day later. It had been sent from the office of a fast-mail company, and it contained within it a pair of photographs of the dead accountant, printed on glossy paper. Written on the reverse side of one of the photographs was a single phrase: The sins of the unworthy must be baptized in blood and fear.

Premiere Vinsky,

I am aware that your country supports Tavitian and his movement, so do we. As a fellow socialist I propose a alliance between the Democratic Republic of Karevka and the Union of Albandrite Socialist Republics, hand in hand against President Valaska and his imperialist thugs. We have a sizable amount of troops in Tabolov, with a working airstrip for your men and supplies. If you accept my proposal, we shall bring Posteastan to a new dawn, a country free of fascism and corruption.

Sincerely, Prime Secretary Artyom Komissarov

(OOC: It is my understanding and according to Allanea that they are stationed at barracks NEAR the airport, not on the airport.)

Able to get a car the duo they put their rifles in the back seat and headed over to the nearby barracks. Driving by they saw the aftermath of the airport attack, surprised at the damage of the site and at the competence of the Royalists, especially on such instant notice. Gentile looked to Nevicca who was driving "At least they can hit something, eh?". They arrived and parked at the front of the barracks, getting out they approached the guards with opens arms, at least open enough to show they weren't a threat.

"Bongirorno to you. May I speak to your commander? If he is around." he smiled to them as Nevicca stood a couple meters away, looking around with his rifle over his shoulder. "I hope you do not mind him, he is my protection. For now."

Port Serenity

Shades fainted a bit "His name is Jesus Christ, Your Majesty." laughing he looked over to Nero and patted him on the shoulder "Lei éd una maldetta puttana, no?"

Nero held back a grin "Back home, that 'jewboy' remark would get someone really hurt, luckily we're not home. 'Shades' her is impressed that you apparently have one of Elena's nails. Seems to me with all that money you could have just bribed these people easily. But money must not mean shit to them and if money is nothing then other measures must be taken. After this, we have some friends that are better than these 'broken knife' fucks who cannot even make some suits turn their heads, you'd want to hear what they." Nero stood up and put his hat on and taking the files he headed to the deck with Shades.

"Now can we get off this boat so that I don't vomit on your floor and can catch some sleep." Shades said looking over the railing. "We'd like to get started as soon as possible."

To: Mr Faramir Fletcher, CO BUPANA

Dear esteemed colleges,

It is that time of year once more when The Laughing Elephant assesses the contributions of journalists across the globe. It's actually several months past that time of year to be frank, however we found ourselves nodding off so often reading story after story about how some crown princess once stubbed her toe pausing to look at a commoner that we've found ourselves far behind schedule.

We have the dubious honor of annointing one of your finest hacks, Mr Faramir Fletcher as the Worst Journalist of the Year!

To achieve this highest of accolades, we searched high and low for peer commentary on Mr Fletcher's contributions to international journalism and here is what we found!

Mr Fletcher has, in the words of one editorial, propogated the politics of envy. Here at The Laughing Elephant we agree whole heartedly. The people Mr Fletcher interviews have entirely unrealistic demands. Not for them the simple life of a media baron with their third yacht outfitted with golden taps. No, the people Mr Fletcher interviews and writes for unreasonably demand healthcare, access to education and food! Such envy will surely undo us all.

Yet another editorial from a bastion of liberal thought has noted Mr Fletcher's one sided reporting. Once again this is shockingly true! Mr Fletcher has never taken the side of asset stripping disaster capitalists nor the mercenary death squads they employ to murder children. Clearly Mr Fletcher has never considered the fact that a media representative must serve to legitimize the murder of innocents in the name of capital. What other purpose do we serve if not that?

Mr Fletcher, upon refusing a journalistic award several years ago, was also told that he was not a professional. This is quite true. Every hack worth their salary knows that a modern journalist's place is behind the keyboard, sourcing stories from an ever diminishing number of respected and authorised newswires, not actually on the ground interviewing people! The last thing journalism needs is people getting involved in the process. It is very bad for clickbait.

A lengthy ediotorial once described Mr Fletcher as being far too ideologically driven to be taken seriously. Once again, we agree. A good hack needs to be able to switch from lauding a movement as a champion of justice and freedom to denouncing them as dangerous terrorists practically in the same breath if that is what their paymasters demand.

Mr Fletcher is invited to The Laughing Elephant commune on completion of his current assignment. If he so wishes, we'll dress up like capitalist goon squads and threaten to break his legs if he writes anything down. We will do our best to make him feel at home, as always. We were going to award Mr Fletcher an actual prize to go along with this most prestigious of awards, however we have simply blown all our commune's surplus with Industry and Trade for the next decade or so (and quite a lot of goodwill it would appear) on a particularly fancy gold thread suit that was vital for very serious journalistic purposes.

Instead we will give Mr Fletcher pot luck draw of our mail for the next month. It is quite likely he will not choose a letter bomb, however he may want to open his prize in the next room. Failing that, the next country.

Yours insincerely,

The Laughing Elephant

Press Conference - The People's Assembly, Aa
Adeema Pula, Central Committee member

"Today we wish to share with the world the findings of an intelligence investigation into the situation in Posteastan. In particular, we highlight the activities of a corporation by the name of Construction Enterprises, which originates in Kenmoria although many of its activities are officially registered to various tax havens around the world.

When the crisis in Posteastan began, Construction Enterprises was one of the first organisations to deliver large quantities of food and supplies. It began, of its own volition, to rebuild roads and infrastructure in the damaged port city of Roztechko. But we should ask ourselves why they should do this. They are, after all, a corporation that exists to make a profit.

In fact, looking at the activities of Construction Enterprises' directors, holdings and shell companies we discovered links to a number of arms manufacturers supplying the governments of the Northern Alliance who recently conducted a campaign of sustained bombing in Posteastan. It's no exaggeration to say that Construction Enterprises is repairing the damage caused by bombs it sold.

Construction Enterprises has been engaged by de facto President Valaska to build a telephone network in Roztechko. We can reveal that the corporation had in fact started work on the network before Vasilescu was aware of its existence. In fact none of the projects that have been supposedly undertaken on behalf of the government were commissioned by it - all were approved and funded after the fact.

So when peace eventually returns to this troubled nation what situation will we find? Having been paid to destroy the previous infrastructure Construction Enterprises will emerge as owner of the roads, port facilities, telecommunications, hospitals - effectively as the owner and sole licensed operator of all the city's infrastructure. It will hold all the cards when so-called free market reforms are introduced to give the nation a modern private sector in place of its old system of clan-based ownership. The profits will roll in for decades to come.

It worth noting that Vasilescu has been installed as President in order to facilitate surrender to the economic demands of the Northern Alliance that will further place control of his county's essential assets in the hands of foreign speculators. Very similar arrangements are in place with the local oligarchs, the Contin and Nechita clans who support Vasilescu because of the wealth he promises to place in their hands.

Ladies and gentleman, what we see are seeing here is an unambiguous case of war for profit, war to order. Those who are fighting and denying in the belief that they serve a flag, a monarch, a people or a religion are deceived. The cause of all of this is greed. A once proud nation has been destroyed by the very forces that will rebuild it for their own profit. And who is the ultimate loser in all of this? The working people of Posteastan.

We can also reveal that Construction Enterprises' operations in Roztechko are being carried out through close cooperation with the Sekala crime syndicate, an infamous and ruthless organisation that is providing "security" for the profiteers in exchange for payment and support in their various activities. This is hardly surprising, but we cannot help but feel that it is the Syndicate whose reputation should be more tarnished by the association.

So then, as a great leader once asked, what is to be done?

Do we grudge the rebuilding of Roztechko? Would we prefer the people there to be denied roads, hospitals and telephones? Not in any way. We would have preferred them to be left with the roads, hospitals and telephones they had before the bombing.

Some will ask if it is not just that Construction Enterprises and others should not be rewarded for their efforts in rebuilding. Are they not entrepreneurs, wealth creators, providers of jobs? In no way. They are profiteers of the most shameless variety. Why is it that having defeated Posteastan through bombing the Northern Alliance did not invade as many had expected? It was because their paymasters could profit more from the devastation and power vacuum that had been left. There should be no reward or recognition for this shameless behaviour.

Today we pledge renewed supplies of genuine humanitarian aid, aid free from any conditions are agenda. We call for the immediate resignation of the asset stripper Valaska and the cancellation of any contracts and agreements he has entered into. We pledge support for the formation of a government of national unity to act in the genuine interests of the people.

We cannot reveal all the sources of our intelligence, but we vouch for its reliability without hesitation and are willing to share it with appropriate governments.

Ladies and gentlemen, any questions?"

The release by Adeema Pula, a Central Commitee member in Uan aa Boa, was received with a lot of irritation by the project managers of the Posteastan operation. Although there was no need to involve the senior partners at this time, it was still very worrying for the continued survival of the humanitarian aid program. The fact was, Construction Enterprises could only turn a profit for as long as Niculai Valaska continued to fund them. Likewise, if the populace turned against them, as a not insignificant percentage already had, it would cost so much to quell them that the cash flow might turn negative. This wouldn’t be an issue if it was a stable exchange they were conducting, but it wasn’t. War zones are not known for their resilience, and unexpected costs were appearing almost daily. With this in mind, the report could cause an awful lot of damage, which would have to be fixed with yet more money. A response was urgently needed.

Firstly, the Syndicate were clearly not doing their job properly. They had been hired to protect the workers, kill protesters and stop information about the more Unorthodox methods of crowd control used by the company from being released to any journalists. The final aim was not being fulfilled to anywhere near the standard that was expected, which was not something the corporation was willing to accept. Under normal standards, with a normal gang situation, there wouldn’t have been much that could be done, since it is very hard to stop a non-centralised organisation. However, the infrastructure the company had built was being used by everyone in Roztechko and a good third in Pibtsy. It would be easy for Construction Enterprises to make the Syndicate’s lives hell. Compensation was demanded for the payment that had not led to a proper mask of silence, about a half of that which was payed, and the henchpeople were demanded to work extra hours making sure that nothing more of this nature escaped.

Secondly, there had to be some work dealing with a possible problem in the relationship between the company bosses and the leader of the official government side, President Niculai Valaska. How the annoying speaker found out that the telecommunications work had begun before approval, as well as the wireless network and a few other humanitarian aid programs was a cause for concern, but not one that immediately needed to be addressed. What was a much more pressing concern was whether it would lead to him possibly turning his back on the aid rendered unto him by Consstruction Enterprises. Nobody particularly thought so, as work was progressing very rapidly in Pibtsy, Roztechko being already at the stage where it could be used for photographs in Kenmorian newspapers, but it wouldn’t hurt to send him a little correspondence making sure that the truths espoused by Addema Pula were seen as hideous lies. At the same time, the list of fifty dissidents could be sent, and the company bosses made sure a few more communists than usual appeared on that document.

Thirdly, the morale in the two areas in which Constriction Enterprises were working was faltering even as the first few paragraphs of her speech were spoken. If there were dissidents and free-thinkers at every street corner, the Syndicate would have to be paid more to deal with them and the gains made by deducting their pay would be lost if not reversed. For a brief time, it was considered to let the Black Party or Royalists take over, just to remind the locals of what would happen if they dared to obstruct the work of the Government any longer. Though it seemed counterproductive, one of the best ways to remedy a situation wherein people knew about killings was to kill more people. “Disaster capitalists” they had been called, well let them see what kind of disaster would befall if the capitalists weren’t present. Probably a better one than the situation a few decades down the road, where it was hoped that entire towns could be brought wholesale and converted into Kenmorian offices, but that didn’t really matter. Of course, the idea of actually letting the Royalists in was just that, and idea, but it wouldn’t hurt for a few Syndicate members to put on revolutionary garbs and attack a few places at the border.

Dear Mr. President,

As I am sure you are aware, an individual by the name of Adeema Pula recently shared her feelings on the humanitarian aid rendered by us to your people. It appears she has somehow found a way to extract confidential information, no doubt delivered to her by the least patriotic members of society. Some of what she said is true, necessary sacrifices to ensure the survivability of the operation and Posteastan in general. However, this was tainted by a pack of lies, including some slanders against Construction Enterprises. Although we acknowledge that the disaster had resulted in profits for us, the primary aim is to ensure the continual presence of your government as the dominant faction in the war, a large facet of which is delivering humanitarian aid to your people.

Likewise, the claims about us designing work before you approved are, of course, nothing but Communist propoganda. As proud free-market thinkers, we strive to make a profit in order to pay the employees a good wage. It would cost us millions to start to build a network, then quickly tear it down if your approval was not given. Although we started planning, the rumours of us actually building the telecommunications network as just that - rumours, some of which have most likely been delivered by sympathisers in Roztechko or Pibtsy. For that matter, the list has been sent to you, on a different channel for security.

Yours sincerely,
Construction Enterprises

The reason for the low encryption was mainly a matter of cost-saving. If someone hacked and extracted the message, it could double as a press release. Otherwise, a letter on the event would be released in a few hours.

In Aa there was considerable debate about how to continue. The original plan had been to use the White Masks virus to attack the fledgling telecommunications system but cyber-recon had indicated that it wouldn't be needed. Construction Enterprises' network had no security features whatsoever. It could simply be switched off and the military were keen to do so at once.

Adeema was more cautious. The fact that Uan aa Boa would be immediately blamed given the timing was not a problem, but the prospect of also being blamed for the bombing of the harbour, which had caused 100 civilian casualties, was more concerning. Not knowing who was responsible for that bothered her.

She also argued that Construction Enterprises might well appreciate being able to cast itself as the victim of communist aggression. The military ducktalkers spouted some orthodoxies about capitalist incompetence, but having dealt with foreigners her whole career Adeema didn't think the consortium was stupid. She knew that the network could have been protected if its makers had wanted. In support of this she produced a transcript of the low-encryption message to Valaska alongside some of the more robustly secured transmissions they had previously intercepted. Evidently the degree of security placed on something indicated its importance. So why was there no security on the telephone network?

The Chairman's Secretariat remained adamant that Construction Enterprises' project could not be allowed to succeed. While in many ways it was too late for Posteastan it had to be demonstrated that this kind of strategy would not be easy to implement in future.

A compromise was eventually reached. It appeared that the Kenmorian corporation was rattled, so for now the offensive would remain diplomatic. The telephone system would be watched continually and if there were any moves to increase its security it would be taken down. There was a risk that the corporation might be able to raise a comprehensive security barrier very quickly. To guard against this several dormant threats were to be placed in the network ahead of time in the hope that a takeover could be launched equally quickly. Military intelligence was uncertain of the precise cyber-capabilities of Construction Enterprises but they had been unable to make much progress breaking the corporation's security barriers, relying instead on intercepting transmissions as they arrived in the far weaker systems in Telinburg.

Meanwhile, a small flotilla of the Revolutionary Workers' Navy, diverted when Uan aa Boa first took an interest in the crisis was taking up position on the limits of international waters off the coast of Roztechko.

In increasing numbers civilian ferries into Roztechko were carrying among their passengers white individuals of various nationalities carrying various specially made passports who had arrived from Uan aa Boa by very circuitous routes. Images of Chairman Mazemba had long adorned the walls of students and radicals through many countries and a considerable number of disaffected young people had travelled to join the revolution. They had been welcomed with open arms and helped to integrate into the new Boani society. Like any comrade, they were given tasks suited to their abilities. In their particular case, this included the ability to move less obtrusively in the West. Sympathetic elements were hard to find in Posteasten since the former leftist government had been so totally discredited, but the lists of trouble makers being transmitted around were providing an idea of where to start.

Twisted lies and black propaganda.

Aa, Uan aa Boa: What do you say to an angry midget? Well, Someone 's a little mad! Someone, somewhere deep down the Elephant's rear end is a little mad. But why now and to what end? That's easy to answer. All we got to do is take a little look at the facts. But before we do that we have to remember what hybrid warfare is about. We need to recall the strategy of subversion. And we have to keep in mind that the easiest way to spread lies is to corrupt and twist actual facts.

Has Construction Enterprises a diverse portfolio? Yes, sure. They own shares of companies that produce dual use goods or defense technology on occasions. Does that make them the men in grey? Shady figures, hiding in the backrooms of power? Secretly ruling the world? Extremists from both ends of the political spectrum share a similar ideology. They are surrounded by enemies who are secretly controlling everybody else to very sinister ends. The Jesuits, the Freemasons…you name it. It generates fear and is an easy explanation for everything that goes wrong. This is how these ideologies work. If we do a bit of fact checking we will soon find out that Kenmoria is not and was never a member of the Northern Alliance. We will also find out that there is a close cooperation between Caracasus and the Northern Alliance. In fact, it is quite obvious that South Cardulan is much more than just a vassal of the USSC. It is the middleman Cardulan and Caracasus use to exchange weapons, technology and other goods both sides categorically deny to be exchanging with each other. Most Nazgûls are equipped with defense electronics that mirror those of combat Kavverits. Doesn’t that make Caracasus an evil war profiteer? Can't they be directly linked to the suffering in Posteastan? Well sure. That is how the global economy is working. Nations trade, people trade, companies trade. In this somewhat short logic, the man at the assembly line would be responsible when someone runs over a cat in a drunken state.

Let us dig a bit deeper now. Construction Enterprises is a famous entity. Known all around the world. They are quick and reliable. They work for profit. These facts are all true. In a capitalist society there are inventions, progress, competition, prosperity and happiness. Profit is made and in the form of salaries, investments and wages returned to the people, enriching society as a whole. In communist societies there is no progress, no invention and scarcely any happiness at all. If you want to sell a product you go to the party official and he shoots a few workers in the back of their neck if they do not show interest in your goods. In our societies you have to convince people that your products are actually any good. Sure, Construction Enterprises has had a test run in Posteastan. They had to build a small model of the planned network under real life conditions and they had to put it to a stress test. These prototypes and their successful use convinced Valaska to sign the contract. Something perfectly normal in a free society, an outrage in communist dictatorships. What a scandal, people can choose from multiple suppliers!!! Next thing you know they have free elections and freedom of religion! To the Gulag with these perverts!

Why now? Why do they come up with these lies now? They are easy to debunk and will not even fool their allies, but why now? That's what's called 'Hybrid Warfare' by Nineday House. Uan aa Boa is spreading the lies and Karevka is running the Gulags. While the freakshow in Aaaaagh performed its annual revue Karevka has invaded Posteastan full scale. Communist flags are flying from every building in Tabolov, dissidents, priests and intellectuals are slaughters as the purges proceed and yet you will find nothing of that in the speech. The lies serve the purpose of putting more pressure on the democratic leader of Posteastan. Valaska might not be the best man for that job but he is the only one with legitimacy. He is the only one who legally rules the nation. Let us finally look at the so called humanitarian aid.

Communists are tirelessly repeating that their humanitarian aid is not tied to any self-interest. Uan aa Boa has delivered air-tight evidence that there is not such a thing as humanitarian communism. Spreading lies about corporations who have lost good men, working class men, by volunteering to serve the people in the line of fire and putting demands on the legitimate president does not look like humanitarian work. Caracasus has a political agenda. It uses its puppet Uan an Boa to forward this agenda by tying humanitarian aid to political demands and the spread of propaganda. Uan an Boa is directly using the plight of the people to spread its black propaganda. Something very low, even for a midget.

Official Statement of the Republic of Posteastan

To: Construction Enterprises

OFFICIAL TELEGRAM FROM THE PRESIDENT

My dear friends,

some lies are just too heinous to be addressed directly. As they say on the internet, just throw fertilizer at someone. If you throw enough something will stick.
Don't even react to that. The people of Posteastan know what they owe to you. They know how are bravely risking their lives every day, helping the people and they know who is spreading lies out of envy. Turning that help into a win-win situation, making money and helping others, is what makes us different from the reds. Their lies are worthless, no one believes them anyway. Today I have opened the pages of the Parsoh Tribune a well-known and worldwide accepted paper of investigative journalism and I have already found all of their myths debunked. I am not doing your PR but the paper is really good. I would consider advertising there. Regardless, we both know what the next steps of the communists will be. They will spread forgeries of communication and what not. Franky, I don't give a damn about them. They have asked for my resignation to make room for the UGF. This comes at a time where I have to deal with a full-scale invasion.

Official Telegram of the Chairman

To: The Revolutionary Workers Council with Responsibility for Foreign Affairs
Subject: Revolution
OFFICIAL TELEGRAM OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF POSTEASTAN

Comrades! I am proud to announce that several other organizations have joined our quest to liberate all of our homeland. Many of these groups have merged with the DSU. To show our unyielding determination to overthrow the Valaska government our movement has been renamed to Democratic Revolutionary Social Union. With your money, we were capable to establish branches all over Posteastan. We have secured several air fields and you can begin to ship supplies. The airfields can accept mid-sized helicopters or small planes that can use a short, primitive runway. At the moment, we need light artillery and man-portable anti-tank weapons as well as instructors. Special operation forces could also be helpful. For the rear echelon we urgently need mobile hospitals and communication centers. We are also in need of air support to help us deal with certain targets that are blocking our way.

Men in dark green unifoms, many wearing their UGF-era medals and decorations, sat on one side the heavy oak table. It was covered in maps and other items symbolizing own and enemy units and positions. It was remarkably accurate. The other side of the table had been taken by their counterparts from Karevka.

"Comrades, we have come here to talk about the offensive. Fortifications around Tabolov look good. The city is highly militarized now and we can focus on our true objectives. The liberation of our homeland. I must say I am more than confident that we will be able to crush everything that stands in our way. The military might of Karevka has made us unstoppable and more support is flying in as we speak. What is most urgent now is that you convince Uan aa Boa to give us unconditional military support Things are in motion now and if they switch to our side we have won this war." He slowly raises from his seat and begins to move units around on the map. "We have three strategies available in my opinion. Either we march west and crush Kolvce within a matter of days. That way we could unite with Balan and his men and control the entire west. We cross the Telin and if we want to we can cut Telin province in half. That would give us some great advantage in the long run. Alternatively we could march on Leozina directly. I have asked the royalists for an alliance but their reply was negative. In a way. They are not interested at the moment but they have not engaged in any hostility towards us. From all what I know they are still relatively weak. They have no artillery, no armored vehicles and not much training. Again, not a job too difficult I dare say and if we get Balan to attack from the north it will be a cake walk. Taking Telin province would mean we could starve Kolvce into submission and retake it without firing a single shot and we can attack Telinburg directly from there. Or we can take Mierbozia. People there will most likely hail us as liberators. Out of these three targets they are the hardest. They are well armed and well organized but removing them is not without its advantages. This operation will take a while and we leave our flanks vulnerable to attacks from both, royalists and separatists. Your thoughts comrades?"

Tabolov

Yurakin received a telegram, it was a short one without stamps or a beginning sentence but it told him enough.

Halt all offensive actions [STOP] Do not call for more reinforcements unless ordered too [STOP] The government is getting enough foreign "press" already [STOP] Work closely with our socialist brothers [STOP]

The Central Commission clearly wanted to limit the scope of the operation until further notice too ward off the press hounds. No matter, he still had plenty of men and a handful of armored vehicles here, bolstered by the local militias. Still, the odds were against him. He could easily hold for a few days under favorable circumstances, but beyond that it wouldn't take long to be overrun.

The first plane to land at the runway did not carry any bullets or guns, but food and toys. The soldiers understood quickly: Hearts and Minds. You make friends with the population, you'll get a hefty amount of support. The toys were rubber balls, toy soldiers, books, stuffed animals, things you would find in any Karevkan child's bedroom. The packaged food was surprisingly nice, even if it looked like it was pummeled in a alley on the way there. The villagers waved to the pilot as he flew off, grateful for his gift.

The Government of Caracasus,

The government of Karevka, wishes to aid your efforts in Posteastan. As a socialist nations we must help each other in our endeavors, we shall do so by providing you humanitarian workers with extra transport aircraft, food, toys whatever you need. The Politburo feels sympathy for the Posteastanian people, which is why they desire to give your government with more resources in your efforts and to send our own aid workers to increase the amount of good we can do for the region. We hope you accept our support and may we find ourselves in a unbreakable relationship.

FROM Adeema Pula, Central Committee of The Revolutionary Workers' Party
TO Mr Vasilescu Tavitian
ENCRYPTION Indifferent

Food waste insults the farmer and taunts the starving

Mr Tavitian, the time has come to speak plainly. The Council which I have the honour of serving as First Speaker contacted you to express the view that of the various factions contesting control of Posteastan, yours has the strongest claim to legitimacy and the clearest opposition to foreign imperialist intervention. We were aware that yours is not a socialist movement, has no history of being such and has in fact been associated with actions unacceptable to any socialist. You yourself made reference in a prior communication to being viewed by others as crypto-fascists. You might benefit from considering why that is the case.

To our surprise, your response to our approach was to pin on a metaphorical red badge and rush to the barricades addressing everyone in sight as comrade. This was unconvincing to say the least, as was the repeated renaming of your political party. Frankly you can call yourselves the Boani Socialist Solidarity Front for all I care. Your worth is determined by your actions, not by the number of troops you can field or your half-baked attempt at socialist rhetoric. If you would so readily embrace us I have no doubt you would be as likely to don a black shirt and follow Remus Balan into the arms of Scwarzenfeld and similarly eagle-flagged allies.

My trust, Mr Tavitian, is not easily won and is now unlikely to be extended to you. I was willing to work towards common goals in acknowledgement of our differences, but I do not appreciate being taken for a fool.

I would also like to clarify that however you have funded your regional branches you have never had any of "our money."

Uan aa Boa remains committed to a diplomatic solution, preferably acting on a pan-Forest basis, and has no intention of landing military personnel in Posteastan in the current circumstances.

There will be no hiding place for the reactionaries!
Forward without compromise!

The Parson Tribune were doing a great deal of the corporation’s work for them, with the latest of their newspaper releases. None of the workers nor anyone in Posteastan had read the paper, since there wasn’t much time for pleasantries now that Uan aa Boa had engaged so disruptively, but the head office in Kenmoria quickly picked up on the mention. For something utterly unaligned with Construction Enterprises, officially as well as financially, the release was very conducive to the interests of the company. Some advertising might be considered there, in due course, as Niculai Valaska was doing.

His message was gladsomely received by the company; though it was considered highly unlikely for him to suddenly switch his allegiance, the fact that the statements of the communist nation were so completely ignored was good to hear, and his message of the support of the corporation by Posteastan residents was very positive indeed. No matter how many dissidents were killed in Roztechko, Pibtsy citizens would give their livelihoods to Construction Enterprises in order to fight against an unknown threat. In the same way, those far away from either of the two cities would hear about Kenmorian activities only through Government-sponsored letters or newspapers such as the Parson Tribune. With enough money, the local newspapers were easily persuaded to overlook the killings and focus on the phone line.

That phone line was proving to be extremely useful as a scapegoat generator for anything that was opposed. Due to the lack of bandwidth or speed, it could function very well as a method of attributing malice to anyone in particular. Connection’s slow? Must be the dissidents breaking the wires. Can’t phone your grandmother? Probably some Black Party members accosting her wiring. Static in the wireless? The communists are the only people it could be. There was even talk of deliberately shutting it down for a few days next week in order to blame Uan aa Boa for a cyberattack. It would only be in the more left-leaning areas, where there was potential grassroots support, as it would be quite awful for PR if anywhere important went down.

Although it would be damaging to overall impressions internationally for the possibly Socialist neighbourhoods to suffer the effects of said attack, this would hopefully be outweighed by the potential of more people blaming Uan aa Boa for their problems. A slight brain drain effect was taking place wherein the more skilled, and indeed intellectual, citizens were leaving for places with different politics, including the aforementioned nation as well as areas such as Caracassus - with luck having leftism blamed for a minor disaster could deter this effect.

"Directly marching on Leozina is the most plausible option," Yurakin started "It will provide us with a lifeline to ferry reinforcements in, but that means the Royalists will die in droves to get it back. We must take that into account." he stubbed his cigarette out and continued "We have plenty of infantry and mortars, but we lack in vehicles. Most of the armor are infantry carriers or IFVs but we have at least two three functioning tanks. Air cover are helicopter gunships, they have firepower to plow through any fortifications." the Colonel took a breath "However I object to one thing. That is your proposed alliance with Remus Balan. Allying with him stands against everything we stand for. He is a fascist, and fascists are among the most foremost enemies of socialism." he then looked to the map "Without him we could perform a pincer movement, two groups will move around and then converge on the Royalist forces, which will be distracted by a forward facing group."

ROYALIST HEADQUARTERS, LEOZINA—The crowd assembled in the small room quietened down as East stepped up onto the table and Thatcher down, leaving dirty boot-prints on the hitherto clean tablecloth. In a loud but slightly hesitant voice, he said:

“May I have your attentio please gentlemen; to quell any suspicion and to shew proof of my sincere and honest intentions, I have here a hand-signed letter of introduction to you, the Royalist men, from Sir Alexander, authorising me under his own hand to command the Royalist forces under obedience to Mr Michael Thatcher and to Sir Alexander and His Majesty the King of Great Nortend, within whose dominions our good friend resides presently. Therefore, I am seeking to raise the Leozina Watch Militia, to serve as the defensive forces of the Royalist Cause to be established forthwith.

“Leozina must not be complacent in the face of the very existential threat of the city and indeed, of our hopes and desires. We have many enemies and if we do not rise and defend Leozina vi et armis, we shall be crushed in any attack. Five hundred soldiers from our good allies, the Kingdom of Lux Pulchrae, are scheduled to arrive soon, but they will not be enough to defend Leozina. Indeed, it is right and meet, and your solemn, loyal and patriotic duty to your King, God and fellow countrymen, to serve. Leozina has a population of over 300,000 people. I am confident that nearly three quarters support the Cause. Of these, half are male and thereof, around half are able to serve in a Militia. With this, we have a theoretical force of over 50,000 men. Women, too, are needed to dedicate their time and effort to cook, mend, nurse and otherwise serve their male brethren. I urge every one of you who is able to serve for the glory of your God, King and country, to take the oath and enlist into this Militia, to spread the word to friends and family, for we have little time to lose. God save Leozina and God save Sir Alexander!”

I, A. B., do swear that I will well and truly serve Sir Alexander, his heirs and successours, as a watchman of the Leozina Watch Militia, and that I will resist his enemies and faithfully discharge my duty according to law. So help me God

There was scattered clapping within the crowd, which slowly grew into a raucous cacophony of cheers, cries and applause. There was no doubt that they were enthusiastic, but how would they shape up? Thatcher and East themselves administered the oath of office to the first few people who enlisted, who were quickly appointed as administrators of oaths. Two large books had been procured from the various crates, one for the first half of the alphabet and the other for the second. Through the next hour or so, many of the men packed into the tea room signed up, the books slowly filling up with the names, addresses, ages, descriptions and signatures of the men, young and old, of the Royalist movement.

In total, nearly two hundred men were on the rolls of the newly forced Leozina Watch Militia, divided into four companies of around fifty each. Each company was directed to choose one man, the wisest, most respected or cleverest man therein, to serve as their commander with the rank of major, with a captain each to serve as adjutant. Each company divided into platoons of ten men, lead by a man chosen to be Lieutenant. Generally, within the companies and platoons, it was decided that the bravest men that went with Rasvan Luca to take the airport would serve as their captains and lieutenants. For now, a captain was appointed from the men remaining.

The crate marked F was opened, and therein, and two badges distributed to each man, in the generic Nortan pattern: Lieutenants received badges of one diamond, captains two and the majors assigned three, though none had been formally commissioned as such. Corporal badges of two chevrons and serjeants of three were allocated to each lieutenant for distribution later. The badges, which were made of brass, were to be pinned to each man's shoulders. Though the militia was still a motley group of men with clothing in various states of dress, East and Thatcher could already see a semblance of the well-ordered militia that was needed to defend Leozina from their enemies.

Just before noon, East called the newly minted officers of the militia for a meeting.

“Gentlemen, I think we may say that our first day has been a great success. The men of the Royalist Movement have proved their dedication to the Cause, and I have no doubt that within the coming weeks, they shall prove to be an invaluable asset in our mission.”

There was a general consensus amongst the assembled officers of agreement, though some of the older men were a bit more reserved in their confidence.
“However, there is the matter of discipline, skills and order. No well-ordered militia can operate without discipline, skills and order. It is essential that we get this straight. We must not be a motley group of Royalists any more, but rather a disciplined fighting force. When we are not in action, there is nothing more dispiriting than rough, uncouth men in sloppy dress slouching around the city. When they are required for training or to serve, they must wear their uniform, which our ships should bring in the coming days. Possibly late tomorrow, even, if the tides are cooperative.

“In the meantime, I should think that the red beret, the wearing whereof having been the wont of the Royalist movement hitherto, ought to be continued to be worn as the official headdress, at least of the soldiers. Caps and the like may be procured later, but are not important for now. For to-day, you may continue to wear what you are wearing now, but from to-morrow, if you have one, a smart coat in a subdued colour, a light shirt with black shoes would be preferable. We must not look sloppy, especially in these early days, as it is important for morale.

“Furthermore, as the militia is not a full-time force, your men must continue in their daily jobs, as they can. However, the needs of the Militia must come first. Every man will be paid for his efforts, however, we believe the bozia is too unstable. Instead, we shall see if we can introduce the leu, which is backed by a variety of world currencies and will be fixed to the Great Nortan pound marten, with one penny equalling one leu. Each man will be paid a stipend of twelve leu a day, which from my calculations, would be approximately... 200 bozia? If this is too low, I can ask for more from the Society, but I doubt any man could be paid over 500 bozia a day.

“It is nearly noon, so I shall finish shortly. After lunch, I require that you instil some military discipline into your new subordinates. All of you have had some form of experience in the military, I believe, and if not, I am sure others will be able to assist you. Appoint your corporals and serjeants, you lieutenants, and convey all of the information I have told you now to them. It is imperative that we begin at once in our mission, but we must first learn to walk, or march in this case, as it were.”

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

This is a letter addressed to whomever is concerned, or has cause to be concerned, over the supposed activities of Construction Enterprises, as have been stated by Adeema Pula, of Uan aa Boa. It is also a missive to anyone who wants to know more about this company in general, particularly our humanitarian aid program.

In this correspondence to you, the people, we will wish to assess the reliability of this source of information and, further, give you our point of view. In this way, we hope you can leave after reading this with a more balanced and nuanced way of viewing the situation.

One of the first statements you may have heard uttered was that Construction Enterprises exists solely to make a profit, and that was our reason for joining Posteastan in the first place. This, although technically true, doesn’t fully capture our reason for engaging in humanitarian aid. We may exist, as a corporation, to pay our workers and boost the economy, somewhat noble goals, but we also have people manning our phones. These people can indeed act benevolently, contrary to the ramblings of communists.

Another true fact was that we were “one of the first organisations to deliver large quantities of food and supplies”. These are not our words, but those of Adeema Pula, and they do capture what this company has done. It is only fair to point out that, despite the many statements that may mislead the casual listener, there was some truth in the press conference.

However, it was then stated said that Construction Enterprises have been responsible for funding the activities of the Northen Alliance, in direct contradiction to our position during the war of supporting the official Government side, led by President Niculai Valaska. Any coincidental flows of money are merely us supporting whatever local enterprise we can, without regard to political affiliation.

Though we work on repairing any damage we can, for example that which is caused by disruptive members of society such as dissidents or communists, and support the Governmental military forces with enterprise where we can, it is not true to say that we repair the damage we cause.

All of these somewhat misleading statements by Adeema Pula are, in our view, designed to support a Communist worldview and anti-corporatism. Despite being an ultimately self-destructive ideology, Communism is not something we wish to shut down, due to our strong values of freedom of speech. On the other than, anti-corporatism is an offensive and prejudiced ideal that oppresses the entrepreneurial citizen.

This anti-corporatism is best expressed when it was declared that work on the telecommunications line, delivered at extremely low prices for humanitarian benefit, had started before Presidential approval. Nothing more than slander, is how we view these claims. As a company that does prioritise profit in order to pay our workers fairly, it would make no sense for us to engage in a move as risky as that, especially when our allegiance is with the President.

If you hear of anyone supporting these statements about the telephonic line, please inform us so that we can work on extending the hand of friendship to their community. In this way, we hope that the vital work we do can extend not only to the periphery of Pibtsy, but also far past that point.

Because of the risky nature of our work and the presence of a gang culture in Roztechko, it has to be acknowledged by us that the Syndicate were paid to leave the populace in peace and tranquility. Some may argue, with fair intention, that this is tantamount to encourage the illegal activity the gang promote. We do not believe this, as our humanitarian aid program will help far more than it will hinder.

We hope sincerely that, after reading this release, you will be more aware of the controversy surrounding Uan aa Boa’s involvement in Posteastan and why Adeema Pula’s communication is best understood with a critical mindset. We also hope you now know more about the vital work Construction Enterprises does in encouraging local enterprise and delivering humanitarian aid to the innocent in the conflict.

Therefore, from all of us, we say thank you. Thank you for listening to us, and we ask that you spread this as far as you can, so more can be educated on this crucial issue.

Korodvinsk

Galkin Asmikov was fuming. His aides we're terrified when the Foreign Minister was this mad."This is outrageous, even fellow socialists refuse to deploy forces to defeat Valaska!" His rantings were well known throughout the ministry. "They won't even spare a single bullet and yet these spineless curs call themselves socialists! Our comrades in Posteastan share the same ideology, the same values, the same goals and they don't send in soldiers because of the goddamned situation but they can send in aid workers into the same conditions? Disgraceful!" the aides merely stood there, too afraid to interrupt the raging minister.

Munnius sympathizes with the nationalists, we have a large arms manufacture and we will support him with it... maybe late, if some timely event begins... Munnius will intervene in field.

Revolutionary City, UASR

Vinsky paced across his office, hands behind his back "This is no time for such debates, the threat of Imperialism is far too great for us to ignore.." He stopped and looked at his Foreign Affairs minister, The Head of State Security, and a general of the Albandrite People's army. All of whom sat across the room.
"I understand Comrade Vinsky" The Minister said, cross his arms "But there is a point about openly supporting the government if it goes out on its racially backed witch hunts once more."
"Tavitian is an idiot, the prime example of an opportunist. There is no doubt he has made enemies in his own party willing to take his place." Spoke the Intelligence over, shifting in his seat a bit. "I have no doubts somebody in their party would be willing to comply with us."
Vinsky blew a puff of smoke as he took his cigar out of his mouth "I want a message sent to Tavitian, tell him that we will not openly support him until he is able to win the current conflict..In the meantime, look for viable alternatives in his party."
All the ministers stood up and saluted "Right away comrade.."

ENCRYPTION: HIGHEST.

Attention President Vasilescu Tavitian.

Attempts to garner further support for your movement from our comrades have failed and they have recently brought to light your questionable rhetoric, something we are also concerned about.

Your recent announcement seems to fall upon conspiracy theories and religious dogmatism as the root of your support. The UASR as a socialist nation does not stand for this and also questions the history of your movement. Most particularly, your ties with past fascist ideologies in your nation.

The UASR is worried about the implications of your rhetoric and demands an answer soon.

We will continue to financially and materially support you in private channels, but will not claim public support unless you are willing to change your rhetoric and will not openly support your faction unless victory is achieved in taking over the nation from this crisis.

Our aid is still on its ways but please do not make us reconsider our decision.

-Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UASR.

It was time for a movement like that. The ground hat carefully been prepared by the agents and propagandists and the choice of time was perfect. The people of Leozina were frightened but not yet in a state of terror. The tension in Posteastan was rising and the long feared invasion had finally begun. The call to arms was answered by many, many more than first anticipated. The vetting process became much more important than planned. Men with military experienced and physically fit were preferred over the elderly or the very young. Psychically stable family fathers over adventure seeking hooligans. The Watchmen as they were commonly called quickly were much more accepted than the police and in fact many policemen joined the Watchmen.

Port Serenity

"Yeah, whatever." Mirela sight. "Bribing is a difficult thing. Some people must not know that they are actually bribed or they are offended. Then there is the problem with following the money. My helicopter will take you to Port Serenity. Go find a nice hotel I will send you some help. You are not supposed to deal with a situation like that alone. Off with you."

Tabolov

"Fascists?" Titus Tavitian looked puzzled. "Comrade Balan is a nationalist, a patriot. 'Fatherland or Death'? I think you will get along with him just fine. A champion of the working class and a man wo has committed all his life to the fight against imperialism." He was the new liaison between the Karevkians and the rebels. "What is it you suggest instead? Are we supposed to kill everyone who stands in our way? Slaughter our people? The DRSU is the party of the people, for the people, by the people. We need to unite our own people and free Posteastan from foreign rule. We don't want to oppress other views or opinions. We don't want to win and build a new dictatorship. e need to unite as many people under our banner as possible." He straightens his uniform before he continues. "We can't win alone, and we can't build a dictatorship with all the people opposing us. We need allies and I have extended a hand of friendship to everyone. If Balan joins us, good. If more join us the better. We will beat the imperialists and the foreign powers but we need to preserve our strength. If we really want to take Leozina we should use all the help we can get. We have suffered a lot of setbacks on the international stage. Revisionists are criticizing us for taking our own path. If you can convince more people to help us we can review our alliance with Balan but right now we only get criticized but we urgently need support. So instead of turning us against our allies you should inform your superiors that they have to work a lot harder to convince other nations to give us support."

I must say that I am not very surprised by the letter. Still I admire your bravery. While bowing to the pressure from Caracasus you still continue to act against their interests. With your help we could recruit new party members and new volunteers, buy new equipment and so on. We will repay our debt once we have taken Telinburg. Now, I need your advice. We have an important decision to make. We will soon launch the final offensive to liberate our nation but we have not made a decision where to march first. We can take Leozina and destroy the royalist movement or we can strike against Kovlce and root out the separatists or we take Mierbozia and deal with the religious fanatics. While we could also need some air support in these operations the most important question is where to strike first?

The Karevkan colonel did not argue. His forces had to split up for this operation, some for the assault, others for watching the flanks and the rest for defending their HQ and that severely spread out his men. "Fine, we will join with Balan if it means assisting a socialist ally." there was reluctance in is voice his which his aide and his lieutenant colonel noted. "What are his assets? Does have tanks or armored trucks? As I said we only have three operational MBTs, the rest are being slowly repaired. As for international help, we are only the ones so far to support you directly. We have contacted two other nations, the UASR and Uan aa Boa. The USAR has not replied and Uan aa Boa are not deploying." the Karevkan, without warning, brought a bottle of alcohol, two glasses and two cigars. He filled the glasses and handed one to Titus "May God have mercy upon us in this endeavor, comrade Titus."
