The pitch black skies above the River Rhine were scattered with thin wisps of clouds, their reflections pockmarked against the Rhine's surface. Below, the city lay in a state of limbo. Half of it glittered in the city's renowned lights, with cars driving through the cobbled roads of the old town and houses/shops/bars/restaurants packed to the brim with people eager to celebrate the end of the week. The other half... was in ruins. Most of the city was spared the fighting that terrorized people along both sides of the Rhine, but the post-industrial districts, the banlieue neighborhoods where many disgruntled youths looked for trouble, and the strategic port area were home to days of hand-to-hand combat, brutal carpet bombings, and commando raids. After half of the US bomber fleet pounded the troubled areas to rubble and the French-American forces stormed in, the resistance died out...for the most part, anyway.
That's why there was a very visible armed presence around Strasbourg Airport. The allied French government in Paris was none too happy about this most recent course of action, and on President Goodman's trip to Paris just a few days prior, the Elysee received him a bit less than cordially.
Now, though, the French knew little about how the most powerful man on earth was en route from Washington D.C. to visit his victorious troops overseas, and they could not resist if they had wanted to.
Still, the Pentagon was taking no chances; for the duration of the President's visit to "liberated" Europe, the Air Force declared a no-fly zone over the French regions of Grand-Est, the left bank of the Rhine, and the Benelux's border with Caleonia.
Massive howitzers and missile-control systems aimed their payloads up into the sky across the river, while captured Leclerc and Abrams tanks roared along the still-unsealed Franco-German border to cut off any means of escape. Hundreds of thousands of troops pounded the pavement across the country, working alongside still hundreds of thousands more French gendarmes and coalition forces (volunteers from other nations) to enforce order. F-22s and F-35 jets streaked across Western Europe, daring anyone to challenge their reach. Everything was in order for the President's visit.

At 3 AM, Air Force One's wheels touched the tarmac, and within minutes, the President was whisked away to Strasbourg in his motorcade.

The Belgians and Luxemburgers, fearful of the fate that awaited them if they did not comply with the President's orders, allowed the US military to expand their presence within their respective nations; although they still held sovereign authority over their lands, it was clear that the White House would dictate the terms of their stay, not Brussels or Luxembourg City.

With 2/3rds of the Benelux nominally secured, the Netherlands was the US's final concern. As it was a major financial and trade center (and due to it housing 80 US nuclear warheads), the nation was on the list of countries to rein in. It was true that the current administration was a bit tactless with their actions to keep the region in Europe, which probably would've hurt their chances of the Dutch allowing American armor to roll across the border, but President Goodman was adamant that The Hague was to be brought into America's sphere, regardless of the cost. In Mons, NATO command ordered the withdrawal of those warheads from the Netherlands under heavy escort, which began shortly after the President arrived in Alsace-Lorraine.

Crowds of Hispanic descent have torched American embassies and consulates across South America in protest against President Goodman's nascent border wall. While unfortunate for those staffing those outposts, the embassy attacks are a political goldmine for the President, with his approval ratings going up to 54% while the nation becomes too consumed with arguments over the situation to concentrate on the vote. Three Marine brigades are deployed to Guantanamo Bay and to American diplomatic posts across the region to protect US citizens and interests there.

Protests begin against the US military presence in the Azores after three off-duty Army servicemen drunkenly crash their vehicle into a minivan, killing a mother and her two kids. Although the soldiers are due to be arraigned in military court and are widely expected to go to jail in disgrace, the Portuguese government has asked for those servicemen to be handed over to the local judiciary to placate the masses calling out "Yankees go home!"

Worried about the status of the Canadians and the United Kingdom within NATO, the Pentagon sends out a cable to Ottawa and London asking them about their status within the organization and whether they'd be willing to assist the United States in containing the Germans and the Russians.

Within the US Navy, a new fleet is established with its homeport in Hamilton, Bermuda (the Twelfth Fleet). Composed of nine frigates, three minesweepers, four nuclear submarines, and three destroyers (with a new aircraft carrier on the way), the Fleet is to begin patrolling the gap between the Eastern Seaboard and the Azores. Analysts are worried about potential conflicts with Commonwealth forces; however, most kids and horror movie fans are more concerned about the Bermuda Triangle.

For internal affairs with Iran and Independent Canada and the situations with Austria and Netherlands, Caleon states its reasoning for conquering Austria as, "The Austrians group of people that we appreciate and would love to have in our nation. However, we don't want to overcrowd our cities, so we took them over. We want this empire to feel like a nation, and as such people we conquer will abide by their own previous rules unless the public goes on protest. Otherwise we will put our law in their territory."
Caleon begins the renovation of the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, with intentions to make it twice as large, rename it back to the Österrichring, and host an international auto racing event within the next four years. The renovations have just broke ground and are planned to be complete in 2 and a half years.

They send some troops to Copenhagen to occupy (not annex!) Denmark and hope that Michael Waltrip can get his new allies (specifically Iran) to stop the US from advancing. Caleon hopes that they can stop this diplomatically, so they make King Waltrip's nephew, Michael Michael Waltrip (kudos if you find the middle name reference) on a chaotic flight to Paris, stopping in Drew Blicksenderfer (the new capital of Caleon) along the way to review what to talk about on this diplomatic mission: no more advancing, establishing an embassy, and opening trade deals.

Black market activity is at its highest levels with chatter on the internet which is of concern that something disastrous may occur. "We have systems that detect stress and we have cooling vent system that keeps it from overheating thus preventing any implosion from occurring. Chance of that happening is 20%.", Galen Falk responded to question to Hypronian Prime Minister.
