The New American Confederacy is a coalition formed from the idea of secession and extreme nationalism. Although they align themselves strongly with the ideals of the United States Confederacy of the 1800's, The NAC does differ in certain viewpoints. Namely, the color of your skin does not affect your social status. Determining social hierarchy is done through merit, and particularly through citizenship status. Nationalism is more valued than racism. The NAC is formed from the lands of Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, Sasketchewan, and numerous southern alaskan counties. The five regions of the NAC are North Columbia, South Columbia, Alberta,Canada II, and Manitoba.
The New American Confederacy is a republic mixed with elements of corporatocracy, and is composed of a Senate, President, Premier, and three Chief Justices. The current Senate floor, comprised of 150 seats, is very divided. The seats are divided in this way:
79 seats, National Conservative Union, NCU, led by Senator William Murphy
38 seats, United Libertarian Front, ULF, led by Senator Richard Hill
24 seats, Progress Coalition, PSC, led by Senator John Morris
5 seats, Green Progression Party, GPP, led by Senator James Roberts
4 seats, New Socialist League, NSL, led by Senator Robert Foster
As shown, the NAC tends to lean to the right-wing libertarian side, with its last 3 presidents all hailing from the NCU. Current President, President Joseph Charleston, has held the office for 4 years; One year from reelection. A president can at maximum hold three terms of five years each, and it is quite common for them to pursue a different political career after the presidency. The other major Executive Official is the Premier. While the President is Head of State, the Premier is Head of Government. Current Premier Charles Winston ran alongside the President, and has terms lasting as long as those of the presidency. President Charleston has seen faltering approval rating over the last year, ever since his vetoing of the bill to attempt a military takeover of the Cascadia Cooperative. The three Chief Justices of the Chief Court of The Confederacy are CJ Robert Brown, CJ Marcus Turner, CJ Wilhelm Stevens. These three are responsible for the interpretation of the constitution, and have historically have sided with the far-right.
The Formation of the NAC was on June 30th, 1934, when the Canadian Walter Miller proposed the Secession Bill on the Canadian House floor. It proposed breaking away from the growing leftist regime in eastern Canada, and forming a union of the western Canadian provinces. The bill passed with 60 ayes and 40 nays, transforming western Canada into its own nation. While the famous "August Riots" broke out after this historic moment, the new Senators of East Canada were beginning to form a coalition based upon the ideas of the US Confederacy. The Lieutant Governors of Manitoba, Sasketchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia came together and agreed upon the foundation of a new Confederacy, one that could rival world superpowers. To achieve such massive growth, they began to encourage large corporations to come to the NAC. Largely left unregulated, these corporations were able to grow based purely upon the market and numerous monopolies formed. Although monopolies were taxed slightly more heavily, they were allowed to exist in this newfound era of Economic growth, growth that the government didn't want to stop.
The Cascadia Cooperative( Formally Washington, Oregon, and Idaho; Now part of the United Federation of Nations ) decided to attempt to attack the assumed weak New Confederacy. The point of attack was the City of New Vancouver. On July 6th, 1935, the Western War broke out between the two parties. The first battle, the Battle of Vancouver, left 15,000 NAC soldiers dead. The New Confederates were victorious, and drove the Cascadians out of NAC territory. Not wanting to further conflict as a fledgling nation, that was the only battle ever of the Western War.
PRESENT DAY
4 weeks ago, on December 25th, 2018, Premier Charles Winston read a statement on behalf of President Charleston to the NAC senate. It stated that " Expansion upon the southern Alaskan territories is necessary to secure the western front of the Confederacy from attack." It insinuated that taking the Alaskan counties of Yakutat, Hoonah-Angoon, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, Juneau, Petersburg, Wrangell, Prince of Wales-Hyder, and Ketchikan Gateway. Those Alaskan counties occupy the western coast alongside large portions of British Columbia, and controlling them would ensure allies of the Alaskan Alliance wouldn't be able to gain a foothold near our territory. This militaristic assault was the first during Charleston's presidency, and likely will decide whether or not he will be reelected. As of yesterday, the Alaskan capital of Juneau has been taken, and a bill has been passed to give control of the named counties to the Confederacy. This is a brutal loss for the Alaskan Alliance, who are socialists, and likely will increase the foothold the Confederacy has on its territory. Currently, parts of Juneau ( now New Juneau) and socialist counties are beginning to riot, with tensions increasing throughout the nation as the divide between the capitalists and socialist minority increases.
