Official Communique of the Ministry of Defense
To: Walter Fox, The Honorable Secretary for State Security, Vionna-Frankenlisch
From: Jarl Ghatak, Minister of Security

Sir,

It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be involved in strengthening our nations’ ties, although through this sad day. When an horrendous event such as this touches any nation, near or far, we must be ready to extend a hand of aid. As I write this, Cossack Covert Operations is preparing a unit that will arrive in Vionna-Frankenlisch soon, as soon as possible considering the large distance between our nations. Sergeant Jayesh Navin will be the commander of the 15 men arriving in your capital. I will convey orders to him as to approach your department upon arrival. I look forward to working with you in the future. Do respond at your leisure.

Signed,
Minister Jarl Ghatak, Ministry of Security, Cossack Khanate

Official Communique of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
To: Larry Tristram, Foreign Minister of Vionna-Frankenlisch
From: Ryan Vehr, Foreign Minister for the Cossack Khanate

Sir,

I am very happy to hear of your eagerness to increase the friendship between our nations. I have heard that my friend, Security Minister Ghatak, has prepared a team of Cossack investigators to investigate this cruel and wicked act. As for our diplomatic ties, I suggest we meet in person to talk various things over. Personally, I have been thinking of a bilateral treaty of some sort, concerning defense, diplomacy, and economics. I believe it would be a great addition to our already friendly relationship. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Signed,
Ryan Vehr, Minister of Foreign Affairs

Selvik News Council Broadcast

Selvik, Cossack Khanate
A major and deadly incident has taken place in the overseas colony of Dzera today. A gathering of pro-LGBT insurgents was confronted by a valiant unit of RCGF troops, led by Sergeant Steven Omarov. The unit was sent to the border of Dzera when intelligence services picked up suspicious communications in the area. Upon arriving on the spot, Omarov followed protocol and gave the assembled crowd 30 seconds to disperse, or at least show signs of dispersion. To the unit’s shock, members of the crowd drew semi- automatic weapons and began to fire upon the soldiers, non-fatally wounding one troop. The crowd refused to disperse, and the soldiers were forced to open fire. In the following gunfight, 16 crowd members were killed, 31 were non-fatally wounded.
Investigators have said that this gathering was one to plan a terrorist attack on the capital of Dzera. Various guns were recovered, including modern Soviet guns like the SR-2 Veresk. Furthermore, the doors were locked, and it is probable that the resulting loss of life was orchestrated by an outside actor.
Imperator Khan has expressed his deepest regrets for the innocent gathered there, and had this statement, “This unfortunate event in Dzera was most likely purposefully set up by foreign Marxist insurgents and schemers. To stay safe in this global time of crisis, please stay away from such protests, gatherings, and other events of the sort. Government forces will continue to investigate this sad event. Thank you, and remain calm.”

Embassy of the Imperium Antiquum, Fineberg
The Holy Empire of New Edom

Throughout the course of the day, the promised extra staff for the embassy as well as the small contingent of Auxilia had arrived, having flown into Fineberg International Airport and taken by a bus provided by the Edomite Ministry of Foreign Affairs from there. The extra staff were all quite young, one or two even university students doing internships with the Department for Foreign and Imperial Affairs who were eager enough to take this opportunity to work on the front lines, though they were visibly stunned when seeing all the protesters who had taken refuge in the Embassy. Yet they went quickly to work, helping to organise the crowd and work through the process of identifying them and then processing requests for asylum. Of the one-hundred and thirty people who had stayed the night, twenty requests had been processed and granted by the end of the working day, arranged to take the next chartered flight out of the Airport that evening. They were all, of course, elated. It gave some hope to the many others who still had to wait. The Embassy staff, for their part, were just glad that so far nobody had raised an alarm with the Edomite authorities, whose slow response times caused a significant amount of the delay.

The Embassy was carrying out it's business as best it could, with more people turning up asking for appointment cards and concerned calls from Kylarnatian tourists and business-people who had come to the Holy Empire after the commencement of formal diplomatic relations, something which the Department for Foreign and Imperial Affairs often encouraged. In the best interests of not causing a panic and damage to the Imperium's image so early on in the relations, the official line was that there was no immediate cause for concern and that all citizens should comply with the security measures put in place by the Edomite authorities, and to avoid downtown Fineberg if it could be helped. Yet if someone genuinely feared for their safety, the Embassy would of course do all it could to get them home, though luckily so far they were more inquiries than anything. Quintus had gotten to work with the Auxilia's Centurion on security and organisation, and both had briefed the Ambassador on what would happen in the worst-case scenario that the Embassy had to be evacuated. She hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Lucilia had spent most of the day in her office, juggling phone calls from the Department as they were providing her updates on what they knew, as well as managing calls from the Edomite Ministry's who wanted to have more access to what was going on in the Embassy. She had so far been able to tactfully dissuade them from doing so, but they were persistent. Ignorant and sometimes incompetent, but once they had their mind set on something they seemed to be intent on getting their way one way or another. Right now, placating them with information on all the asylum seekers was all they could do, and the Ambassador took no pride in it: it felt wrong, to her, to speak about these simply scared and frightened people as if they were all suspected criminals. Yet that is what they were to the Edomite authorities, and considering all the chaos that had unfolded in Fineberg in the last twenty-four hours, Lucilia did wonder whether Krytopia would be any different in the aftermath of such a tragic event.

"Yes." she thought, "The Caesar's Vigilum would never allow things to get this bad."

Then she had the chance to talk to some of her counterparts in the other embassies. The call with the Shrailleeni had been without doubt the most informative; like them, they were trying to process their asylum seekers and guarantee the safe passage of the remainder. The well-spoken woman on the other end of the line had also mentioned that they were trying to use their diplomatic ties with Edom and their greater understanding of their society to bring some sort of calm to the situation; apparently, a so-called Archbishop of Bara would be making an announcement to speak on behalf of the asylum seekers in order to assure them safe passage home. While making a note of that, Lucilia was also given a rather well-informed explanation on Edomite attitudes towards homosexuality, and how - at least, according to the Shrailleeni - the problem ran deeper than just homophobia, but with just general Edomite intolerance for the "other" and a very regressive government. They both shared their similar feelings on that subject, before agreeing to talk more in future with a potential face-to-face meeting before hanging up the phone.

While she then took her next call with the Ambassador of the Visayan Islands, Theo and Gabinia were sitting together in the senior staff kitchen, watching and reading the latest news while nattering over some coffee. They were doing their best to try and unwind while also keep on top of everything that was going down, but that was far easier said than done.

"The King of Vionna-Frankenlisch has apparently been injured in an attack for which Homofront is claiming responsibility..." Theo sighed, flicking through the pages of the day's printed edition of the Fineberg Times. "And there are nations threatening outright military action in response to what has happened. I mean, seriously, is this how these people deal with such things?" He was genuinely baffled by the way things had escalated, and he certainly wasn't new to foreign diplomacy: it mostly came from the fact that he was more used to Gothic affairs and diplomacy, which despite being renowned for very warlike and violent, seemed to him to be a damn-sight more rational than what was going on here.

"It's all posturing." Gabinia rolled her eyes as she watched the newsreel footage of the Tyronian military testing a new missile. "New Edom is a target for a lot of nations who have a bone to pick with either SACTO or Imperion. They'll chomp at the bit for anything that will give them a chance to take a shot. I read in an opinion piece that there are likely already going to be talks going on in the background." As standard practice as it might be in other places of the world, this was something not often done in Gholgoth; maybe because of the Gothic Regional Alliance providing a constant venue for dialogue, but things were much more direct and upfront back home then it was here. Theo let out a weak chuckle and shook his head in some form of bafflement. Then as he continued on reading through the Fineberg Times, the smile dropped from his face as he read the next page.

"They can't be fucking serious." He said in a gasp of disbelief. Gabinia took her attention away from the television for a moment, a look of concern on her face. The more he looked at the page, Theo's face twisted with an increasing sense of utter disgust and rage. Throwing it over to Gabinia as he stood up and looked up at the ceiling with his hands on his hips, she picked up the paper and quickly read through the article to try and find the offending material, and then she saw it:

“Ultimately,” Mr. Geta said, “This is an internal matter, and is more of a violent but regrettable incident which we can work out for ourselves. It has already been said that the King-Emperor will be receiving petitions, it has already been said that there will be an inquiry into the violence, it has already been explained to foreign embassies that only wanted criminals will be arrested upon the release of civilians from the embassies in Fineberg. Any attempt to keep our citizens in embassies will be treated as a violation of agreements and will be dealt with accordingly. There is no need for diplomatic rifts at this stage of things.”

"Okay..." Gabinia put the paper down on the table and leaned back in her chair as she thought things through. "He just has to keep up appearances, show a tough face to the people in the aftermath of such--"

"No, no, no." Theo wagged a finger at her as he quickly turned to face her, his face going slowly red. "The Right fucking Honourable Mr. Hidious fucking Geta thinks he has the right to subtly threaten foreign embassies for following protocol?! Who the fuck do they think they are?! We're just trying to do our damn jobs here. It's because of them that we're dealing with this absolute shit-show - all this talk of 'inquiries' is just a means to kill time and cover it up. We're doing their damn jobs for them, caring for these people, giving them everything we know and he thinks he can go ahead and say something like that? Fuck him. Fuck. Him." Running his hands through his hair and then across his face, Theo let out a long breath before sitting back down, forehead rested between his thumb and index finger.

Gabinia let a moment of silence pass. "Feel better?"

Theo didn't respond for a moment. "Nowhere near enough. We have to say something about this, let them know that we are paying attention and that they'd do damn well to watch their mouths."

"Theo..." the Communication's Director replied, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I feel your anger, I really do. These people are far too incompetent for this, and they're going to keep talking crap, but unfortunately they're the ones in charge here. We just have to roll with the punches; it's all just talk, anyway. There's nothing they could actually do."

Before Theo could respond, the large imposing frame of Quintus appeared in the doorway. He had allowed himself some rest now that the Auxilia had arrived, and he was very good at managing on very little sleep. Observing the scene in front of him and from what he had heard on approach down the doorway, he had a pretty good sense of what had just transpired. He thought it best not to dwell on it, as they all had things to be getting on with, which is why he had appeared in the first place. "We need to go and speak with Lucilia. There have been some more developments."

As had been foretold by the Sharilleeni Ambassador, the Archbishop of Bara did release a statement. It promised safety to all those who complied with the Edomite King-Emperor's demands of returning home. When this news spread out amongst the crowd of asylum seekers in the Embassy, many seemed genuinely calmed and reassured and prepared to go home in order to try and return to some sense of normalcy, or to at least make sure that loved ones were okay. Quintus had brought up the problem of the mobs that had been gathering outside in Embassy Row, apparently chanting Christian hymns, leading to quite a number of the asylum seekers in the Embassy feeling a little unnerved. In response, Lucilia had directed the staff to set up some speakers in the places where the asylum seekers had gathered, playing music so as to drown out the chanting. In the meantime, she would get in touch with the Edomite Ministry of Justice / Police to see what she could do about getting the crowd dispersed, explaining that if that could be done, most would indeed return home as had been requested.

Then there was the matter of what Mr. Geta had said. She was equally as disgusted as Theo, though more able to control her temper, and so promised him that she would make word of it with the Foreign Minister in her next communication with him. "As far as this Embassy is concerned," she assured him, "any attempt to violate it's sovereignty and it's ability to carry out it's stated mission will be treated as a violation of our good-will that will not go without consequence, and Mr. Geta would do well to be reminded of that." She also made sure to inform the Department of Foreign and Imperial Affairs, who were already aware and very equally displeased.

As she and the senior staff began to wrap up their conversation, a frantic knock came at the door. Calling them to enter, one of the young interns who had arrived that day came in a hurry, a panicked look in her eyes.

"What's the matter?" The Ambassador asked her calmly.

"One of the asylum seekers..." She began, "...they've been flagged up on the list the Edomite's gave us. She's wanted."

"Joint Response Plan Edomite Asylum Seekers (J.O.R.P.E.A.)"
February 18, 2019

Today, the Kingdom of Montenbourg reveals that it took action under the Joint Response Plan Edomite Asylum Seekers where between Friday and today of this month, we received about 5,000 asylum seekers to Montenbourg, under joint cooperation with commercial airlines relocating all these seekers in our soil, here in Montenbourg.

At the moment there are no Edomite nationals in our Embassy in Fineberg.

The Kingdom of Montenbourg calls on New Edom to create the conditions that would allow for voluntary, safe, dignified, and sustainable migrations, based on the informed consent of those who have been forcibly displaced.

Operation: Maruca | Part: One

Postby Lanorth » Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:39 pm

The first part for many. The last part for some.

Fifty-thousand people had come to the Kavalton Airshow on the East Coast of Lanorth, but only one out of the fifty-thousand was there to commit murder. It was the nineteenth of February and nineteen years into the second millennium, the last week of the three week Saint Alkan holiday, schools were closed and all families had taken advantage of the freezing temperatures (which all Tyronian enjoy) to arrive at the old airbase, less than three miles from the sea. They had strolled around all Tyronian vintage planes used in the First and Second World Wars. Single-seated biplanes parked next to propellar planes parked next to Cold War jet fighters. That morning, the Tyronian Air Force had put on a dazzling display with blue and yellow smoke to match the flag of Lanorth, twisting and criss-crossing each other in the sky before swooping down of yellow, blue and the occassional spot of sunlight escaping through the cracks. There had been flypasts from the MF-2704, the attack aircraft fitted with two seats that had been used in foreign wars and the new MF-00, which had costed around one-hundred million Retrons. The grounds were packed with simulators of combat, virtual reality, drones, face-painting, fairground stalls and a mini-theme park. Everyone was having a good time.

Like every public event in Lanorth, an extensive yet almost invisible security net had been put in place. It was impossible to stop and search all the cars that went by, but CCTV cameras recorded every arrival and every number plate was instantly checked. People might notice police, sniffer dogs and military personnel. This was a common sight. But they would be unaware of the undercover policeman or woman, each of them with concealed weapons blending in with the crowd. In fact, the Anti-Terrorist Organization, or ATO, had met in their orfices near the Tyronian Houses of Parliament just a few hundred miles away a few days before, and all agreed that the terrorist threat at the Kavalton Airshow would remain comfortably at moderate. They were not expecting any trouble.

So nobody payed attention to the woman who arrived just after three o'clock. She had driven into the car park in a transit van, which according to the automatic number plate recognition system, belonged to a local private hospital company called H&S Charity Fund. This was the country's leading first aid charity and indeed the woman was wearing the white and pink uniform of a local volunteer. She was carrying a rucksack with a white cross marked upon it. Normally, if you opened the bag, you would find medicine, bandages and other first aid material. She was short with dark, short hair, neatly cut and firmly brushed. There was something aggressive about her look and walk, her body language indicated she was stressed or angry. She was thin and exercised thoroughly every day. She had a lot of make-up on, but that didn't help her look any more attractive than she already was. She wasn't as attractive as the average Tyronian, which may indicate she was foreign. As she walked, she put on a pair of branded sunglasses. They hid away her brown yet angry eyes.

There was a seperate entrance into the airbase strictly for paramedics, technicians and military personnel. She showed a pass to the active security guard which identified her as Bylanny Skaffolni, but this was not her real name, nor had she ever worked for the H&S Charity Fund. The security operative might have wondered why she had arrived so late in the day, for the airshow was almost over. He might have asked her why she was alone. But he was tired and was looking forward to getting home. He glanced at her pass and waved her through. He didn't even look inside the bag. Her real name was apparently Origavna Petchrikana, a former Tyronian Air Force Lieutenant-Colonel. She was a highly professional pilot, who had fought in various air battles and won them all. She had been thrown out of the Air Force after she was involved in a bar fight where she took on a man twice her size. She got him hospitalised. Days later, she was offered a job and 200,000 Retrons if completed. She accepted the task with no questions asked. The man who had set the task, who gave no name, had died after giving her the task but his Deputy took over. She wanted that R.200,000. She dreamt about plastic surgery, fancy cars and, for some reason, men as she made her way past the various exhibitions, stands and fast food outlets. People were already drifting towards their seats for the last airshow of the day, for many, the finale was the best part. The aircraft were sitting out on the tarmac, patientally waiting for the pilot to walk over and take control of the machine that was the MF-00. She stopped at the barricade which stretched the full length of the runway and took out a pair of binoculars, without removing her sunglasses. She raised them to her eyes. Slowly, unable to help herself, she smiled.

The Nordic 5 (New name in the works) CONDEMNS New Edom for their violent response to protests. Queen Astrid wishes to avoid military confrontation, but has announced that refugees of the LGBT community feeling in danger in New Edom are welcome to enter the country. If escalation continues, Economic embargoes will ensue between New Edom and The Nordic 5. Similarly, Queen Astrid abhors the actions taken by Homofront in their attack, but we recognize the government's corrupt ideals as unlawful and morally wrong, the LGBT+ community is having their human rights compromised, such as:

  • We are all born free & equal.
  • We all have a right to life.
  • We all may seek a safe place to live (Something the current government fails to provide), and
  • We all have the right to partake in marriage and family.

These rights are infringed upon by the government of New Edom, and as such severe actions should be taken.

Special thanks to "Youth For Human Rights", which I pretty much borrowed this list from.

Nakad Central City
Nakad Council Building

Cameras were focused on a stage where a lone podium stand with the governmental symbol of the United Islands of Nakad was plastered. The sound of voices was heard as reporters talked amongst themselves. Video editors were gearing up for censoring for non-nudist nations that may be watching. They were all awaiting the young leader of Nakad to make her address regarding the activities of Homofront and the goings on in New Edom.

Soon a woman in her early thirties appeared on the stage, naked and barefoot, she made her way behind the podium. Looking down at her notes, she pushed back her auburn hair behind her ears. Chief Councilwoman Carmen Tethys grabbed the sides of the podium as she prepared to address the press.

"Homofront is evil. Any organisation who uses fear, violence and mass murder to present their ideology are criminals and they must be stopped. Nakad, if requested by the New Edomite military will be willing to send special forces to aid in combating this threat. We will be the sword to bring down on the wicked. However, as pro-LGTBQ nation we also must also address the issue of how the government of New Edom is treating those in that community, we cannot condone such actions. We must also be the shield to protect the innocent and so Nakad will be opening it's borders to refugees of the LGTBQ community who no longer feel safe in New Edom, we will welcome you with open arms."

"Several nations, including the Kingdom of Montenbourg, the Empire of Ardoki and others have expressed similar concerns about the treatment not only of LGBTQ citizens but also of civil rights groups. We share their concern and sympathy, however we are skeptical that placing embargoes and threatening the economy of New Edom will have the results they hope for. We fear this will simply hurt ordinary working class citizens in New Edom. We prefer to recommend that negotiation and mediation be used to allay the fears and concerns of the government and more conservative elements of society while also helping prevent such tragic events as that which took place in Fineberg.

"I have met Queen Mara the First and spoken with leaders of their government in the recent past. I believe that they are an honourable and courteous people and that we can, should and must strive for mutual understanding and peace. For the time being, Nakad will continue to maintain peaceful trade, tourism and scientific information sharing with New Edom. We urge our own citizens abroad to follow the law and while in Fineberg follow our embassy's travel advisories. We assure New Edom's government that we will continue to be welcoming and friendly to their tourists, students, and commercial travelers in our own country. Thank you."

The Embassy School,
Fineberg

It had been a long day for Ambassador Allard, dealing with the anxiety of the Nakad citizens who worked, studied or were tourists in New Edom, the pressures of Homofront and the requests of confirmation from the Edomite government as to whether Nakad would intercede had been taking their toll. Right now, he wanted to rest. But he had decided it was important that he go personally in one of the state SUVs in the embassy motor pool to get his daughter.

"Good afternoon, dear. I'm so glad you're safe. What were the alarms about?"

No response came at first, as she was turned away, facing the window as they drove by the armed guards, but then he heard sobbing. and saw her burying her face in her arms.

"Honey? Is everything okay?"

As the teen looked up to him, Allard's face filled with anger. Around his daughter's eye was a freshly made bruise.

"They call me a whore, a daughter of satan." She wept.

"It's those bullies again isn't it?" He replied, trying to keep his tone calm. He sat down next to her and wrapped an arm around his daughter to comfort her. "I'll call the school, they'll be hearing about this."

"It's because I said wh..what the Chief Councilwoman says about LGBTQ people..it's their right to be able to marry and adopt..."

"You're just repeating a fact, honey...it's not your fault..." Allard felt a sense of torment. His duty, in both ways. He gently held her in his arms as she wept.

HMS General Zadok Hespernius
Arriving At Harbourtown Naval Base New Edom
2300Hrs Local Time
VADM Sir Stephen F Macnarin MRN

It was the middle of the Night when the Mcnernians Arrived. Dozens of ships lighting up the radar through the night air. They had been expected some time before the sitituation had demanded the presence of the MRN Fleet. By its mustering it was built to blast through area denial defenses often in conjunction with carrier or battleship or other groups and land 1500 or so marines at a time on the beaches.

As of the now it was a MEG, Marine Expeditionary Group’s battalion that was drilling in the sections of the vessel that were reserved for Marines. The Admiral and his staff had also embarked on the Hespernius. The threats to New Edom had been deemed a risk to a Mcnernian tech market also there was always a need for the oil. And Nifon was in an enviable position as a key Mcnernian Ally. And so the fact was if the Nifonese had their oil on time the Mcnernian bankers were happy enough in those nations in the Fukaran sea. The fukaran sea was also a place where the Empire could expand.
None of this was lost on Macnarin as he looked at Sir David Ralton the First Lord of the Admiralty.

“A recall motion was defeated.”

“Yes, rather soundly and the Prime Minister is most upset.”

“Who proposed it?”

“Mino Takuji, goes by Michael a scion of a family that fled from the 1983 purge.”

“That’s Bad.” Macnarin had heard the reports about why in 1983 when he had been a young commander and Emilion III had still been alive Maki Kojiro had taken matters into his own hands. And the Takuji Group had been a major company in pre-Purge Nihon dealing in all things from computers to women’s makeup. The fall in Nihon had seen Khan Technologies take a lead in the market from them. “Well I am here in New Edom now and I hope that whoreson keeps his mouth shut.” Macnarin left out the racial epithet about yellow skinned folks. Monkeys was the term the Admiral had in mind, Monkeys in their suits in their halls of Parliament. It made him long for the coup days when he had stormed the legislature in one area.

He looked out as the ship came into port. The Mcnernians would not need that much for the smaller ships. The larger ones would need the services of the tugs and the tenders would wait outside the port. The fact of bringing an amphibious warfare vessel would allow the battalion to be billeted at Harbourtown as the Mcnernian aircraft were billeted at Tyrannis Naval Station. Having been launched along with helicopters. Prepositioning ships would have gone ahead of the main fleet loaded with jet fuel and such in trucks. One of the benefits of cross standardization meant that the Air Force could send a nuclear powered prepositioning ship to supply a carrier air wing that was landed in a foreign nation. The Mcnernians would be tired and simply ask for the bunks when they were settled in. And be ready for the next day soon enough.

Mcnernian Embassy
Fineberg New Edom

The Mcnernians would seek to move those who wished to leave the country soon enough. They would have asked for the services of the Purple Cross mostly for supplies and the The Ambassador would send a letter to the New Edomites. It would be in the middle of drafting a communique that the Ambassadors chief of staff who was working on asylum requests came in.

“The New Edomites say we are holding various persons of interest…at least one, a leader of the Free Expression Group.”

Hullar stopped what he was doing.

“Pardon?”
“We have a wanted person among the Asylum seekers…”

“Oh dear.’ The Ambassador considered the idea of it. He bade the aide to leave. And drafted a message.
We have the head of the Free Expression Group, we will take her into Custody upon arrival in Mcnernia. If that is alright with you. We will grant her asylum request and put her under survaillence.
C. Hullar, Ambassador

This would be delivered by courier to Minister Geta. And plans would be put in place. No one knowing the harm that certain interests would use this for.

RECIPIENT(S): Hosidius Geta. Foreign Minister
SENDER: Fionn Cormac Cleary, Minister of External Affairs
SUBJECT: Offer of Assistance
I am deeply upset and ashamed that I may have caused offence yourself, the dignity of your office, and your country. I profusely apologise, for my intentions were completely innocent.

The Government of the Greater Ardokian Empire understands that the majority of your people may consent to the laws which govern them. However, that does not make those laws just of fair. As a beacon of progress throughout the world, the Greater Ardokian Empire has a responsibility to oppose backwards laws such as your Morality Act. Progress is the ultimate ideal, and anything which stands in its way, even democracy, must be swept aside. So, the views of your people shouldn't matter. In this case, and probably many others, they are incorrect and impediments to progress.

His Grand Imperial Majesty implores you to see reason and acknowledge the sacrosanct principle of progress. Tradition not something to be valued. Pass immediate laws to grant LGBT people equal rights, and your government will be on the right side of history. Decline, and your country will be swept aside by the forces of progress.

As offered previously, His Grand Imperial Majesty has many experts who can assist in the transitional period. You need not worry about backlash from the more reactionary elements among your people, they can be neutralised easily. We hope you consider our generous offer with all the time and effort it requires. Thank you.

The bugles cease to ring
But through the ages
You can hear them echoing

- 55 Days at Peking

It was still early in the day. Just as the sun was rising from her slumber towards her throne in the sky, beneath her there was something happening at the port of Moruga.

Moruga was a small city but her port, her harbor, her waters...they were important. They faced New Edom and assembling at her end were the women and men of the Azen Legion of the Solisian Empire. Every minute or so, there were scores of men and women hastily running into their positions before the waiting officers.

They were a yellow-eyed and black-haired woman and another who had soft brown eyes and hair. They were both carrying the cloaks of officers, their tunics of battle decorated with the notable badge that bore the rifles of the infantry. Accordingly, such badges displayed their ranks. One was the General of this Tercio and the other her second in command.

For now, they were dressed for battle. They did not wear helmets for now as theirs were resting in their left hand. Their right was free. They also wore puttees and combat boots. They were armed, their belts bearing the weight of holstered pistols.

As for the men and women assembling before them, these were the Azens. The First Tercio was composed mostly of women. After all, they were named The Spearwomen. For the Legion, they were the first Tercio to go into battle above all the others. They were the most disciplined and the most highly trained. They had the best equipment and the most priority for artillery and air support plus transport.

And they proudly wore their dull green fatigues, carrying the weighted load bearing vests with their ammunition and other personal gear. The rest that they could not carry on their vests or in their pockets and pouches or even on their belt, they held in their bags. Being held along with the bags were their rifles. Either that or they carried their machine guns, carbines, sniper rifles or whatsoever was their main weapon.

They all lined up neatly before their officers, their noncoms barking at the enlisted to hurry the hell up and to stop being so sloppy. Anyone who didn't listen and wisely obeyed were struck with the hands of their noncoms. Captains, lieutenants and majors were observing the men as they poured over documents, PDAs and other things. Some were approaching their commanding officers, the two Solisians, while the rest remained at a distance from their men.

Eventually, at least, the First Tercio was fully assembled. In front of all of the Legionaries was a tall female Captain. She was one of the only Azen commissioned officers who wore the traditional feathers that the former Arch Angels and Angels of their dead country wore on their ears. She was beautiful but tough too as she sustained the full weight of her own gear on her back. She was also one of the only Captains allowed to keep a long braided pony tail which signified to the men and her commanders that she was a senior. She has done too much for the Empire to be taken lightly.

She didn't even smile. Not even as the crimson tattoos on her face anointed her. Not even as the rarest of gifts graced her neck: The Legionary's Medal of Glory. It was a medal awarded only to the Legionaries who sustained heavy injuries and fought well. The other condition was that it had to be earned as a senior. Not as a junior, not as a recruit, but as a senior.

She turned around sharply and saluted her superiors. They nodded to this and let the Captain speak, her voice loud and clear like a drill sergeant's

"¡General! ¡El Primer Tercio está delante de ti, listo y leal! General, por su voluntad, por favor dénos sus pedidos!" Then she repeated the command in English, stomping once before she continued

"General! The First Tercio stands before you, ready and loyal! General, by your will, please give us your orders!"

Then she stomped again and she took three steps back and stood at attention. She raised her hand to her lips and turned it into a fist, bringing it down until it rested above her breasts, saying to them

"¡La Legión Azen te espera!"

And following that, the First Tercio spoke as once, stomping at the end of it

"¡Por el sol, por el imperio, por los siglos de los siglos!"

(For the Sun, for the Empire, forever and ever!)

Meanwhile, as the Azen Legion was sending away her First Tercio in the name, service and glory of Her Majesty and Her Empire, the journalist had landed in New Edom.

She was able to enjoy herself as she left quickly. She didn't bring too many things and had more than enough money to last her a month in this country. She made it out of the airport in no time as she found and hopped into a taxi that eventually got her to her hotel. Immediately, she hurried to her room with her keys after happily speaking with the reception and took the rest of the day for the sake of her health. Yes, for the day, she would sleep. She had to. Planes were bad places to sleep in for her.

I am writing to offer you a reason. Our allies and friends with your endorsement can work together for policy change in New Edom.

As we know the Morality Act is the source where discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is enforced by your country. And the council of ministers has the power to overturn it. We offer you any aid necessary to overturn this act and retrieve our economic sanctions to New Edom.

Let's build a better future where we all are born free & equal.

Dear Minister,

How pleasant to hear from you. I hope all is well with you and your family.

I and many in my government are greatly distressed by the many inaccuracies printed by your media and by the poor advice that your junior officials appear to have given you. Nevertheless, I am delighted to hear that you are prepared to discuss peaceful relations.

Our Morality Act is foundational to our constitution, as I am sure you are aware. However we would be happy to discuss ways of improving diplomacy between our countries and our governments. The Empire of Ardoki has offered the possibility of diplomatic talks to work out a better understanding. Perhaps we could agree on a neutral place to hold such talks. Please let me know along with any particular issues you would care to discuss.

I have the honour to be,

Dear Minister,

Your apology is very touching. I am sure no offense was intentionally meant, but sweet words are honey to the ears and a credit to those that pour them.

However I am concerned about your definition of the word ‘progress’. It appears that your government policy proposes that the chief desired progress lies in permitting sexual perversion and disrespect for the holiness and laws of God. I am aware that you do not share our beliefs, and in this we are tolerant, as it is up to God to judge morals, and us to live by the law insofar as we are capable, but to live as well in peace with our neighbor, for which we read other nations, as much as is possible.

When it comes to progress, our concerns have been manifold. That we should end our civil wars and have peace in our land has been a top priority. Following this, to have development which would enable our people to improve education, healthcare, make our economy internationally competitive, radically shift our agriculture to become more resilient and independent, and to improve our national defense: these have been among our top priorities and how we have defined progress.

It has been no easy matter to convince our fractious peoples that the rulers of New Edom could all get along, have harmonious relations in spite of differing views of faith. In the midst of this, however, we have often faced exterior forces trying to pry us apart for their own advantage. To some nations, ideals such as homosexual rights and freedoms are vital, as vital as feminism. To us, they are a dangerous poison that threatens to tear our country apart.

In spite of this, we have been merciful and have tried to make sure that homosexuals who choose to present themselves as such have two choices: re-education or emigration. It has been no easy matter to get our people to understand this.

It must be obvious to you, however, that there is a sizeable minority of citizens who are concerned about this issue with regard to civil rights and political freedoms. They do not nearly form enough of a percentage of our population to sway a vote or referendum, but they are visible as the recent demonstrations prove.

In response to this, our King-Emperor has decided to hear the voice of the people. He has agreed that there should be an inquiry into the violence. And several nations have agreed to expedite the emigration process. If those nations are unable to carry the weight, others could be signatories to such agreements.

I realize that your government wants more than this. Right now, we are considering negotiating with the government of Montenbourg, and if your government would like, we could discuss a neutral place where our governments could, perhaps, come to some better understanding.

I have the honour to be,
Hosidius Geta

Dear Minister,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about the unfortunate experience with the media, I'm sure we are taking steps towards better understanding the terrible successes happened in New Edom. I regret that you were not satisfied with the performance of our media, but again we don't control the information that they get and we would not oblige them to, they remain faithful to those whom information they give. We are pleased to start a discussion with your government for the topic which has done such a piece of news and a big hurt to the international community, and of course our European Union.

We are particularly concerned about the delay in response time of your government regarding a policy change in your institutions ensuring human rights. We have a firm position in the promotion and protection of human rights, but we are open if your government is too for the commence of talks for change in policy.

I have scheduled a meeting in the capital of Europolis, an extraterritorial zone, at the Europa building where the headquarters of the European Union is situated, we consider this a proper neutral space where you and your delegation can discuss your comments regarding policy change in New Edom concerning human rights.

Thanks again, and let's improve our record for humanity.

Frankenlisch, Kingdom of Frankenlisch
11 Parliament Square, Cabinet Room

"How is the King?" Larry Tristram asked, belatedly.

Dochlov Zimmermann sat, pale-faced, on the windowsill. "Stable," he replied, "They haven't had to remove the arm, so that's good. They're bringing in a specialist from Ceasia to try and save it; if he can't then nobody can." Zimmermann felt quite sick. He had dealt with a lot in his premiership, the Belvania Crisis being the most notable but this was something else. King James, the sovereign of all he surveyed, lying on a hospital bed with his arm withered by wounds.

"Sir?" Tristram brought the Prime Minister out of his trance. "I said we ought to have a press briefing about this."

"Yes, of course," Zimmermann replied. "Do we have the final report?" He asked.

"Yes, sir." Tristram pulled a scrap of paper from a pocket, "Twenty-four dead. Including five soldiers of the Westonland Fusiliers. And forty-three injured. Twelve of those are Fusiliers and one, obviously, is His Majesty."

Zimmermann moved from his uncomfortable windowsill and sunk into his usual chair. "He was here the other day," the Prime Minister mused, sadly, "He asked me to go riding with him in Cunaris next week. Oh how he loves to ride his horses..."

"Sir?"

"And now he might never ride again..." Zimmermann was unusually upset, he rarely showed sadness and yet he'd spent the day since the attack weeping. Even Tristram who knew his leader well was surprised by the display. Zimmermann sniffed and apologised. "Can you arrange the briefing for tomorrow?" He asked through wet eyes.

"Of course, sir," Tristram replied, nodding. "And sir. We'll have the King right as rain soon, don't fret about him, he's a tough old bugger."

Zimmermann smiled weakly. "Yes, of course, he is. Thank you." He nodded in appreciation and left the room, God, he needed a drink.

Harbourtown, New Edom
New Edom Squadron, Imperial Navy
Rear Admiral Sir S.Barret Commanding

HMNS Dauntless led the squadron steadily into Harbourtown under the cover of darkness, cruising at a low speed. Rear Admiral Barret stood next to the helm in his best service uniform and bicorne. "Steady as she goes," he ordered lightly and turned to the Dauntless' captain. "Captain Pettigrew," he told the man, "you have the bridge. Take us in and get us permission to disembark."

"Aye aye, sir." Robert Pettigrew replied, a middle-aged man with a grey streak in his black beard.

Barret saluted quickly and left the bridge, heading down a cramped stairway and sneaking into his ready room. He produced his pipe and lit it up with shaking hands. "Son of a-" Barret stopped himself swearing as he dropped a lit match, he stamped it out irritatedly. There came a knocking from the door. "Enter!" Barret called.

The door opened with an ominous creak and Admiral Barret's daughter, Jane, entered. She smiled cheekily at her father. "I told you to stop that," she exclaimed with a frown, gesturing towards the admiral's pipe. Septimus simply pushed the matchbox across his desk and Jane laughed, producing a cigar case.

"We're landing in a moment," Septimus said, plainly.

"I know," Jane replied, clamping down on a cigar. "The McNernians beat us here."

"Does it matter? We're not under any obligations to the McNernians, we're here to support New Edom." Septimus argued between puffs on his wood pipe.

"I know why you're here?" Jane made sure to sound as accusative as possible.

"To do my duty?" Septimus played dumb, but they both knew the real reason.

"To who, sir?" Jane grinned. "To your King? Your country? Your party"

Septimus cleared his throat and wiped under his nose with a handkerchief. "It hardly matters now, does it?"

"No, I suppose not," Jane replied, a staunch monarchist, she was affiliated with the Imperial Party in stark contrast to her Conservative, semi-republican father.

"I'm sorry about the King." He said, seemingly genuine.

"So am I."

South Lopenfort Yeomanry, Imperial Army
Lieutenant Colonel Lord J.Featherwick Commanding

The Baron Featherwick's horse, Saxondale, was the first of the Ground Forces beasts to be disembarked, the thoroughbred mare was Featherwick's favourite horse and her pretty chestnut coat contrasted with her wild and spirited manner which characterised most horses of the Imperial Army's light cavalry. James Featherwick sat atop Saxondale as he surveyed the disembarkation of his regiment. The South Lopenfort Yeomanry was hardly a remarkable unit, none of the Imperial Yeomanry regiments were, besides the Palace Yeomanry, of course. They were perfectly average soldiers, trained, equipped and motivated as well as any other soldier in any other civilised army.

The second horse ashore was Charlene, the horse of Lord Featherwick's batman, Corporal Lafley. Lafley was a sweet girl of only seventeen years, completely unsuitable for the army but one of the best riders in the entire Imperial Military and, by Andy, she could brew a good cup of tea. That precisely was the reason that Lafley had been chosen to act as Featherwick's batman, after all, most cavalry officers considered it quite improper for an officer to have a batman of the opposite sex.

"First squadron ashore, sir." She reported happily, her white mare whinnying beneath her. "Second is coming ashore after the Fallen Islanders have their regiment disembarked."

"Very good, Corporal," Featherwick replied, nodding. "Will you ride to the McNernians and ask if they would send somebody to liaise with me."

"Yes, sir!" Lafley replied, saluting quite smartly as she turned on her horse. She rode off swiftly to find where the McNernians were.

With his first squadron ashore, it was Colonel Featherwick's next duty to find a place to billet his men for the night, before they marched for the Edomite training grounds where they had been officially billeted. He rode for his staff, who were not yet ahorse and were congregated outside a port office. Major Walton and Major Sampson seemed in deep conversation, Lieutenant Smith was snapping off orders to Sergeants Taff and Al-Gravi, who commanded the two MG sections of the regiment. Featherwick approached the congregation of officers and NCOs and heaved himself off of Saxondale, who was quickly led aside by a helpful Lance Corporal.

"Ladies and Gents." Featherwick exclaimed, in greeting to his staff.

"Sir," Major Walton was quick to claim the Colonel and took him aside to speak. "This is a complete mess, we were meant to get here five hours ago and march off for the Fineberg District when we disembarked, as it is we'll have to encamp on the docks for the night."

"I don't think we can do that..." Featherwick mused. "At any rate, maybe it'll be light by the time we've disembarked fully."

"Oh certainly," Walton replied, "Once the Edrington Armoured Dragoons have their tanks ashore it'll be about four in the morning but surely we'd ought to rest the men before we move off, not to mention the horses."

"Good point. Well, let the men bivouac at the end of the docks and send a man to speak with the local authorities." Featherwick suggested. "Lieutenant Warden!" He called, a well-muscled woman who, by some twist of fate, had gotten her horse disembarked approached Featherwick and Walton, saluting.

"Sir!" She reported.

"Warden, I need you to ride to the Harbourtown local authorities, a mayor or somesuch, and get them to find us somewhere to put the men for the night. Otherwise they'll have to sleep on the docks."

"Very good, sir." Warden saluted again, swung herself up onto her horse, and rode off quickly.

"Are you sure it was wise sending Warden, sir?" Walton asked, "A woman, I mean..."

"Don't be silly, Walton," Featherwick replied, "If an Edomite touches her she'll break him in two, she'll be alright. Although, no doubt, this place is a hive of scum and villainy. Send a man after her, if you're so worried."

The pair saluted each other and Featherwick walked on, holding Saxondale by her reins, looking for another duty to fulfill before he got his replies.

Mcnernian Cornellian Fleet
Harbourtown NB
Lt Hugh Badder MRN, Officer of the Watch HMS Zadok Hespernius

The corporal would find that the McNernian Cornellian squadron was snug in their berths on the other side of the base. The ships were large and angular vessels. Belfras, Eagleland, those designs dominated the skyline over the low industrial buildings that made up the quayside. Power was here it was almost palpable to one who had an interest in the business of ships of war. It was worth noting that the Mcnernians were all nuclear powered. Tankers had been swapped out for supplies which would allow them to be on station and carry aviation fuel.

One would be able to find the flagship following the directions of the sentries at the tops of the gangways of the others. They were mostly. “Youll want the flag.” And the Hespernius was in a berth that was built for a ship of her size. Unlike their allies the Mcnernians could house a battalion aboard ship and make it good for all concerned. Namely the locals. The sentry at the top of the gangway alerted his superior who came over. The Petty officer spoke into his radio once the corporal had identified herself. And of course her intention.

“Sir, the deck chief wants to see you about something…more like hes waiting on the line.”

Lieutenant Hugh Badder looked at the ensign, he was young, a bit younger than what he was. Class of 2018 out of the Academy. “Right ensign,” Badder had been drifting off somewhat looking out beyond the base perimeter at the city. Even at this hour there was still lights, most had been ordered to their bunks aboard ships. Save those who were to stand the port watch. “This is the bridge, go ahead.”

“We’ve got a corporal from the Staff of one Colonel Featherwick. Off the transports that have come in. She wants a Liaison.”

“Roger, bring her to the bridge immeadiately.”

“Right away Lieutenant.”

“Back to your post ensign.”

“Yes sir.”

The Corpral would be escorted up through the ship heading for the bridge. Corridors would be quiet as the ship had just gotten through a long journey and it was very earily in the morning. One could see from the bridge which was quiet, panels were set on low lighting, red lighting abounded to keep night vision up. The chief would be by the hatch door. The lieutenant would be sitting in the bridge chair. He would turn to face the Corporal. His squarish face and angled nose marking him well. Also his short and slicked hair.

“I am Lieutenant Hugh Badder of HM Assault Ship General Zadok Hespernius. I am officer of the watch, I am hesitant to rouse the Captian, the Commander or the Chief of Staff or the Admiral Himself…it seems that there is nothing that cant wait till morning.” One could tell Badder was somewhat irritated, he had slept well enough but a quiet night in a foreign port was what he wanted. And it seemed the Imperials were merely in need of the locals if anything. Badder considered it for a moment a self slapped look crossing his face, “Ensign Mahorn,” He called over the radio to the officer down in CiC. “Yes sir?”

“Rouse Commodore Folass.”

“Ummm yes sir.”

“Ill have the Admirals chief of staff with you presently.”

Commodore Arthur Folass had just gotten to bed it seemed almost. He looked at the ceciling. A knock came from the door to his cabin.
“What?”

“Uh sir…theres been a development?”

One of the night watch, Folass wracked his sleep addled brain as he tried to match the voice to the faces of the roster that was handling….Mahorn. The name came into his mind as he hauled himself up in bed, the Navy blue striped sheets and black blanket sliding off him.

“What development….”

“Uh, we have a guest, watch officer brought her aboard.”

“The f—k does they want..” He was damn tired. He looked around his room, heading for the light switch and the canteen of tea. He swigged that feeling the caffeine inside take its effect. He donned his uniform and followed the second of the watch to the bridge.

“I am commodore Arthur Folass Chief of Staff to Vice Admiral Macnarin, may I ask your name?” He would be obviously tired having signs of being roused from sleep with his somewhat disheveled hair and uniform. “ I understand you want a Liaison?”

Harbourtown, New Edom
Aboard HMS Zadok Hespernius

Corporal Lafley could tell that the McNernian Commodore was unhappy to have been awoken. She resolved to sort the situation out as quickly as possible, for his benefit as, for some reason, he scared the young Corporal.

"Corporal Elisa Lafley, sir," She reported, saluting in the Imperial Army fashion, "South Lopenfort Yeomanry, Imperial Vionnan Army."

She smiled sheepishly, her tiny frame shaking lightly under three layers of cavalry service dress. "My colonel, Lord Featherwick, has asked me to receive a liaison officer from your forces." She informed, beginning to trail off as she often did when nervous, "Although I imagine we would be allowed to keep them, we'll probably have to pass them up the chain to General Sir Buckingham. When he's ashore, that is, of course. Anyway, we're quickly getting ashore ourselves so we'd ought to receive the liaison for now. If that's okay, sir. After all-"

Lafley's eyes widened as she noticed quickly what she was doing to the poor man. "Sorry, sir," she apologised hastily. "I don't mean to annoy you... I have my orders..."

Clearly the Ardoki scum don't understand that their ideology of totalitarianism is not wanted in all corners of the planet. The idea that they want to rule the planet, as dictated by their banner for their diplomatic communiques. The Empire will fight tooth and nail for as long as it takes to help the civilized world combat this plague that is the "war machine" of the Ardoki people.
We call upon all nations to step forth and dissuade this scourge from attempting to use this conflict in an effort to further their radical ideals onto the rest of the world. We call upon all nations to step forth and assist the Empire in putting these radicals in their place, to force them back into the hellhole that they crawled out of.
We also call upon our allies to back us up, to fight tooth and nail with us to back up the Ardoki into their less than civilized nation that restricts freedoms more than any of us ever have or will. As of right now, the Empire is mobilizing it's forces to combat the scourge that is the Ardoki Nation or anyone else that threatens our allies within New Edom.
With a days timeframe, the people of New Edom will see the banner of their allies from the Shazbotdom Imperial Navy join the ranks of all the other nations that have deployed in support of them. These Sailors are tasked with the defence of the Edomite Homeland from any who think about attacking it in the name of forcing their ideals onto our allies. Long live the Imperion. Dear Larry Williams,

We are upset with the baseless and defamatory statements you have made about our country. The Greater Ardokian Empire is the nexus of the civilised world, an eternal beacon of progress. Under the wise and just rule of His Grand Imperial Majesty the Greater Ardokian Empire shall enter a glorious age of progress and prosperity which shall last for millennia. Is there anything wrong with spreading such a period of unending progress and prosperity across the world? I'm sure only a few could find a problem with that noblest of goals.

But you need not fear our Imperial Military, it shall not be needed. Ardoki is a nation of diplomacy, science, and economic development. His Grand Imperial Majesty shall demonstrate to the entire world the superiority of his Imperial Progressive Party, and all shall join us eventually. In the meantime, I suggest you learn not to engage in defamation and get seasoned diplomats to write your communiques, instead of embarrassing yourself on the world stage again.

Harbourown,
Bara Province, New Edom

The heat of Harbourtown would be like suddenly having a warm wet towel wrapped around one’s body for foreigners from northern climes.

Foreign vessels to the port, in particular formally known allies, were guided into appropriate docking position at piers by pilots attached to the Harbourmaster’s Office. New Edomite naval officers were assigned to make sure that officers attached to foreign naval vessels were aware of what was going on in the city and were acclimated properly. The Imperion and SACTO allies would be aware that the commanding officer of Tyrannis Naval Base was Captain Arabella Ephraim, while the commander of the 1st Naval District was Vice-Admiral Count Barnabbas Amalek.

The container and naval port of the unimaginatively named Harbourtown (Oppidum Portum in Latin) was a large area and a testament to New Edom’s industrialization from the mid-twentieth century. Imperion ships, since the alliance, were scheduled for training operations to be refueled or maintained at it, as it featured a drydock. There was a forest of cranes, a field of piers, traffic guided avenues of docking areas. Warehouses, some enomrous, were spread over a landscape large enough to be a small city. Surrounding this was a vast industrial park, and then the teeming houses, shops, official buildings, churches, and parks of the city, the ancient bleding with the new. Piled stone blended with cinderblock and improvised buildings that were a leftover from the First and Third Civil Wars when they had come to Harbourtown. Here and there could be seen office buildings still pocked with bulletholes, spaces where building debris had been shifted into improved poor housing.

There was a great deal of sea traffic. Oil rigs lay in the gulf beyond, and so tankers, maintenance boats, and supply freighters were often at work. Container ships vast as small towns moved carrying freight around the region to and fro and beyond. Large fishing trawlers also worked out of the port.

Much business operated withinand immediately the city. National Waste Reduction Plant; Oil Refineries for the National Oil Corporation, Seafood Processing Plants, Newell Nolan Bank, The Journeyman Group Bank, Green Star lines Dirigible Travel, Commercial Airport; Pharmaceuticals Warehouse, Paper Goods Warehouse, Rubber Products Warehouse, Food Services Distribution Warehouse, Chemical Products (finished goods) Warehouse, Ikram Quality Cigarettes Warehouse, Wheymeyer Forestry Company Warehouse, Kai Commercial House Green Energy Factory, Karlberg Home Retailers Warehouse, Arjuna Tea Services Warehouse, Circuit Center, United Mailing Services, Kingston Wireless Telecom and Broadband, Pro Life Pharmacies Locations. National Edomite Rail Directorate Hub; services provided to shipping, rail, trucking and aviation services. (mechanical repair, engineering, etc, a number of which are contracted to foreign companies)

It lay but a few miles from Tyrannis Naval Base, which had a smaller docking port of its own but was in fact an airport, basing and training area. It was the main depot for the 9th Marine Infantry Regiment as well, and its 3rd Battalion (the training battalion) was based out of it. It was large enough that it featured a base hospital, theater, athletic fields. It also based the 1st Shore Defense Regiment, the 1stt Marine Infantry Regiment, and a Naval Coast Guard Squadron, as well as regularly housing units of carrier task force Python and the National Air Force, as regular air patrols flew out of it.

NENS Python, a Gamele Class Carrier, was running patrols 500 KM from the Baran coast, 8 vessels escorting it flung out around it farther out to sea, its combat air patrol flung out farther still. Within that range and nearer the coast operated the Naval Coast Guard Squadron, ranging from Harbourtown to Fineberg and then as far along the southern coast

Around the city and the base there lay alluvial marsh and swamp around coastline, including saltmarshes. Inland largely farmland, light forest, low hill country, farm or fishing villages and towns with populations between 150 to 20,000..

Because of the foreign corporations and foreign businesses, there was a kind of foreign quarter, but nevertheless Harbourotown was not a wild and exotic city. It wsa a hub for the End Times Church, and so as a result the main sources of recreation included beaches, local boating, going to movies, dining at restaurants and cafes, going to churches and seeing religious plays. The Paladin Cinemas movieplex was heavily censored, and films showing the triumph of non-Christian religion (save as a sobering reflection on sin or failure of Christians to behave virtuously and wisely) was forbidden. Along with this, so were films showing sexual intercourse, devil worship, or which showed people taking the Lord’s name in vain and prospering to the end of the film. If need be, Edomite versions of films were edited so that regardless of the foreign film’s intent, it would appear that those who take the name of the Lord in vain shall never prosper. It was, other than Sterry, one of the most Ednist cities in New Edom. People not engaged in hazardous work or on formal military or official duties were most often seen naked except for sandals.

Generally, the citizens were polite to people who were demonstrably from the Imperion alliance, from Rome, Nifon, the Imperium, the Shrailleeni Empire, and, curiously, Adiron, as that nation had provided a great deal of charity in the province during the 2nd Civil War and its aftermath. Other foreigners might find themselves regarded with suspicion and would receive somewhat distantly polite responses and wariness.

The Foreign Ministry,
Fineberg, New Edom

Geta was tired, had been working steadily apart from meals and an uncertain sleep in the office, yet this work was what he lived for. A last message was being typed up by Delphinia Mark, his pretty chestnut haired secretary, and he stood behind her, massaging her shoulders intimately as she typed on her computer. As his hands slipped down from Delphinia's shoulders and artlessly crept to her chest, cupping her full and firm bosom through her blouse, his smile grew wide. What a tease the girl was, pretending to modesty and hesitation when she was blatantly flaunting herself in her foreign clothes. But he could not blame her, he was a devil of a fellow, after all.

She caught her breath, her lips then tightened and she wondered if she should quit or try to report him. But what was the use? She had been warned by the two different senior bureaucrats she had talked to that it would not only do her no good, but it could mean her job and reputation.

“Obviously,” Elizabeth Corbulo warned her, “You led him on. It may damage his reputation, but you know he’s a married man, married to his job, and you dress like a foreigner. He’s never hit on me even once.”

“But…” Delphina had glanced down at Corbulo’s modest bosom hesitantly.

“But what?” Corbulo had demanded back.

Well, he never did anything worse. A grope here, a squeeze or massage there, but it never went beyond that. And curiously, Corbulo was correct in one thing: in an Edenic state, he seemed indifferent to women. Was it really the clothes?

“Pay attention, woman!” he barked, releasing her and leaning forward. “It’s a good thing I was here, there’s two typos!”

“I’ll run a spell check and proofread, Your Excellency.” she said.

“Good girl. Send it on to Corbulo when you’re done. Inform her I’m off to meet with the Archbishop.” he departed, whistling jauntily. She took a deep breath and continued to type.

Copies of the letter below were sent to Imperion and to SACTO headquarters along with the previous correspondence. Along with it, the latest intelligence concerning Lanorth was passed on through the Foreign Ministry.

Dear Minister,

Thank you for offering a suggestion as to a meeting place. I’m afraid, however, that Europolis is not an acceptable location to us at this time. We would like to contemplate another possible location, as we understand that the rest of the E.U. shares similar beliefs to your own about the homosexuality issue. We would prefer a genuinely neutral place. Our recommendation is that talks should take place in Yanque in the Republic of Gran Chaco in our own region.

I am also concerned about your government’s determination of what the bottom line is in regards to human rights. This appears, according to your statements to involve permitting sexual perversion and disrespect for the holiness and laws of God. I am aware that you do not share our beliefs, and in this we are tolerant, as it is up to God to judge morals, and us to live by the law insofar as we are capable, but to live as well in peace with our neighbor, for which we read other nations, as much as is possible.

When it comes to human rights, our concerns have been manifold.

And of course, we are interested in hearing out your government’s concerns in a friendly and civilized manner.

I have the honour to be,
Hosidius Geta
Foreign Minister

SUBJECT: Offer of Settlement, Proposal of Conference

We appreciate your efforts and we look forward to meeting in Gran Chaco. We propose to call this event the "Conference of Yanque" understanding that many nations here present in the debate expressed sympathy for LGBT Edomites under your system of government but haven't made no immediate joint resolution or commitment, we put forward a space in which the governments can approach to offer an immediate resettlement channel between your government and others for the offering of refuge and developing opportunities for permanent settlement.

In matters of the inquiry proposed by your monarch, we will offer the participation of our delegation in the inquiry under the MONAID (Montenbourg Agency for International Development) and at least four local NGO's serving in the investigation.

We are confident that New Edom will give a new path to this situation,

I look forward to meeting you at the Conference of Yanque.

Not entirely sure if the last post/communique addressed to me is still canon considering you stated you left shortly after it, but if not, please disregard this post then Ardoki.

To: Fionn Cormac Cleary, Minister of External Affairs; Greater Ardokian Empire.
From: Rep. Kevin Mayer; On Behalf of Emperor JC, Emperor of TECT & Imperial Marshal of the Imperion Coalition.
Subject: RE: Diplomatic Conference.
Encryption: None.

Dear Mr. Cleary,

On behalf of His Imperial and Royal Majesty Emperor JC, Imperial Marshal of the Imperion Coalition, I must personally scoff at the unprofessional and childish response of Mr. Cleary. Unable to contest the evidence laid before it, the government of Ardoki is unwilling to face the consequences of its prior genocidal history once it's aired out for the entire world to witness. Mr. Cleary is only able to insult and degrade His Imperial and Royal Majesty rather than address the points of interest HI&RM brought forth to the international community's attention. Youth isn't a sin nor a disadvantage, but being envious of HI&RM's and his Empire's successes are sinful. And by no means does HI&RM take to heart the accusation of barbarism from a government that literally slaughters innocent civilians (foreign or domestic) like cattle to the butchers. Ardoki has systematically murdered millions - through death camps and actions on the battlefields - with the never ending objective being the complete and total extermination of conservatism, religion, and in many cases, certain ethnicities. If "it" or "they" stand in the way of Ardokian rule, or their twisted "Progressive" narratives, the "Ardokian Solution" is always total extermination. The millions of butchered Chileans we mentioned before would concur with that sentiment, I believe.

Instead, let us educate you, Ardokian. Your "Progressive World Order" will never happen. Such plans for world domination will end in the slaughter of every Ardokian soldier, airman, or mariner who is foolish enough to accept such asinine ideals. If the people of Ardoki are equally foolish, they too shall perish. Communism has never and will never succeed, especially in the Empire and our great Coalition. Your leader may not understand this because he's too busy writing and singing shitty pop music, but the world doesn't support Ardoki's brand of totalitarian communism. And against the Imperion Coalition alone, Ardoki stands no chance of success. We as a coalition of the willing support and nurture one another - both our people and our governments prosper together. Economically we are powerhouses that will never see a capping point; politically, Imperion will forever be the one true guiding light that engulfs its enemies in hellfire and guides the world on the true path to monarchism; militarily, the Imperion Coalition sees no equal to its might. So when the leadership of Ardoki threaten or mock the Imperion Coalition, we take it seriously but still cannot help but laugh; we are not afraid of totalitarian communists who religiously worship a misguided ideology while hiding under the facade of being a monarchy. Your days are numbered, Ardokian, but only God knows the exact number himself.

You said earlier that Ardoki has a right to sail in international waters, that international law allowed it and violating it is an act of war. Nothing but laughable chatter from hyenas looking to scavenge from prey it sees as weak - and ironic for a nation that violates such "laws" daily. Listen good and learn, Ardokian. The only international law TECT or the Imperion Coalition is obligated to follow are those drafted by the Imperion Coalition's Marshals or Representatives such as myself. If you believe so strongly in the World Assembly ability to uphold law, I will not stop you from allowing it to pillage and rape your people of its resources and independence - they surely wont protect you, but at least they'll happily leach you dry if anything. Unfortunately for the Greater Ardokian Empire, its navy is not protected by Imperion Decree or by any Resolution passed in our Meeting Chambers; you are not a member nation, you hold no status as an observer of the Imperion Coalition, nor do you have any active agreements with this Coalition. So no, the Greater Ardokian Empire's navy doesn't have a right to maliciously sail naval forces along the coastline of a member state to Imperion, no matter what your weightless international laws preach. Here's the reality, Ardokian: You see us merely defending ourselves as an act of war when to us your invasion/attack force would be seen as an act of war. But you act as if we need a reason to obliterate Ardokian vessels when we don't. The Imperion Coalition doesn't need a reason to take offensive action against an enemy, especially one that promised to take action first; whether one party or not has declared war isn't a factor in our military responses - declarations are mere words, not actions. So I'll repeat what the Imperion Coalition stated previously: If anyone (Ardokians for example) wish to test New Edom's sovereignty by attacking it, or presume they hold some right to provoke New Edom/Imperion Coalition, they will be swiftly met with overwhelming force. Those unlucky enough to survive will be ransomed back to their government for money as reparation for needing to spend resources dealing with said nuisance. If said government doesn't wish to pay said ransom, or believes said ransom is "violating human rights/international law", we will simply sell survivors to the highest paying slaver institution to help pay for the cost their government incurred against the Coalition and its members. If you don't like this policy, condemn such practices, or believe it's evil, we don't care. You may whine all you wish to, but the Imperion Coalition will never surrender to forces that wish it to capitulate. Those who don't wish for such a fate simply have to not test New Edom's/Imperion's sovereignty or might.

Sincerely,
Representative Kevin Mayer of TECT
HIRM Emperor JC, Imperial Marshal of the Imperion Coalition

Commodore Arthur Folass MRN
HMS General Zadok Hespernius, Harbortown, New Edom

The commodore raised a hand to forestall any further protests. Having listened he turned to the officer of the watch. “I suppose one of the night watch will have to go eh?”

“Yes commodore.” Said Badder rising from the bridge chair. “Ill go.” The Lieutenant was cut off with a gesture from the chief of staff.
“May I ask why he would need a liaison before the New Edomite have outlined duties for us? The way I see it your possibly having some trouble unloading…” he paused. “Lieutenant, go to my office and fetch the documents we were given….its information the good Corprals commander lacks.”

“Errr…are you sure?”

“We cant exactly spare a liaison at the moment, we must provide something….damn it…” Tiredness was affecting Folass. Only one thing for it. He told the man to wait turning to the corpral.

“Why do you need a liaison now. Cant this wait till morning when Vice Admiral Macnarin is available?”
