A SECOND REVOLUTION
The USSA (United Socialist States of America) was once an idea in the minds of a few men and women hoping to free themselves and others from the yoke of the monopolies which had reigned America since the late 1800s. Long hours, small wages and harsh conditions tormented the average factory worker, while the robber baron boogeymen above them continued to soar into unprecedented power, all with the power of the American Dollar, grown on the backs of tired and hungry workers. Soon the USA as it was then would reach a breaking point. The Great War would erupt in 1914, and the US was flung into the conflict by the monopolies in a bid to make as much money off the war. Fierce contraptions, from innovative canvas biplanes with fast engines and powerful machine guns to some of the very first armored fighting vehicles were rushed into production in order to sell to Entente forces in bulk, at the cost of those at the assembly lines. Meanwhile over a million men would be drafted into this new war, armed with rifles built by the blood and sweat of wage slaves, and outfits of cotton from gins manned by women 12 hours straight. The US would see tremendous losses over in Flanders, where the German positions would eventually be overrun, at the cost of tens of thousands of American lives. Those who survived till the end of the war during 1918 would come back to a decadent United States. Factory workers had broken their hands operating the machinery that would build weapons for hours on end, with no pay to compensate for the toil the put into their 'jobs.' It was around this time that the 1918 election rolled around. Eugene Debs, candidate of the CPUSA, and one of the men who dreamed of the USSA, won an overwhelming number of electoral votes, as well as the majority of the population. A controversial error in the voting process would however hand the presidency to a candidate more obedient to the monopolies' whim. Understandably, people were outraged, and civil war erupted. Returning soldiers from Europe, many of which still armed with bayonets and rifles would join the rebel cause, an act of revenge against the old order for sending them to die for the sake of profit. With overwhelming public support, and the backing of a significant portion of the army, the rebels eventually drove the old order's forces into Mexican territory, where a revolution of its own was in full swing, where were Zapata's southern armies clashed with the crumbling republic. The now red America quickly intervened in the Mexican Revolution on the side of Zapata, to chase after the last of the Federalists and to secure their southern flank. By the civil wars' conclusion in 1922, Mexico and the USA were effectively under the same banner of Eugene Debs' forces. The D.C. Convention of the same year would formalize he creation of the USSA, a country that spanned from Alaska to Yucatan, and a country where the people were truly free. Zapata and his supporters were rewarded political positions in the newly created Mexican states, but they would still have to submit to Washington. Despite this, the Mexicans remained in their positions and all was quiet. Revolution had been achieved, and with it, peace.
That was, until 1926, where Debs would suddenly die of heart failure. A power struggle between multiple factions of the CPUSA would emerge, and after much 'political' bloodshed, William Foster stood on top as the party's new leader, and therefore, the nation. He pursued vastly different policies from Debs, like the first 5-year plans, political purges, an American gulag and the rapid industrialization of the south. He By 1930, he had effectively created a cult of personality around himself by silencing political opponents in the party, and had created a living hell for the people below him, by forcing them to work a gunpoint to 'rebuild America.' He soon stepped too far in 1933, when he declared Zapata's Mexican communist 'revisionist traitors' and sent out death squads against them. Terror reigned the streets of Mexico that year. This outraged the Mexican population, who eventually boiled over in January of 1935, beginning the Second Revolution. Zapata who luckily survived the purges against him, ammassed militias out of the angry populace, armed them with weapons, and staged a coup in Mexico City, there delcaring the Mexican People's Republic, against the tyranny of Foster. Now North America is ready to bleed again.
