1. Only roleplaying members of The C Democratic Nations may post here. Anybody else will be ignored, and asked to leave.
2. You may prop up one side with some limited volunteers, equipment, and advisers... But you cannot engage on war against either directly (you cannot blockade Namibia, for example). Nor can you make any belligirent actions against someone who is propping up the side opposite to you.
3. I moderate this RP, so my word is law. If I tell you to stop, or to change something, do so.
SIDES:
THE KINGDOM OF NAMIBIA
The Kingdom of Namibia was established, at the wake of the fall of the German Colonial Empire, in the mid-to-late 20th century. It was created, not out of a rebellion of the natives but one by the German settlers, after the German Kaiser publicly announced his intention to pull out of the region. The settlers were paranoid they'd lose their rights to the natives, and be gradually exterminated under black rule, and as such the local colonial governor unilaterally declared independence. With the support of the local German garrison, a large portion of which was formed by local settlers and some conscripted natives alike.
Ever since, the Kingdom has followed policies of segregation, and disenfranchisement against its black population. These policies, have greatly degraded in time, and the natives have most rights by now except for voting. Past administrations have made an effort to increase education and develop the native areas, to "give them full citzenship once they are ready". But many within the Kingdom feel that they deserve full enfranchisement already.
Namibia itself was seeing many massive protests, recently, lead by the more liberal opposition parties in congress. But the war has put a pause to this, as the whole country readies itself against South African invasion.
THE REPUBLIC SOUTH AFRICA
The former Dutch cape colony in South Africa eventually evolved into a prosperous nation of its own, following its largely peaceful secession from the Netherlands. With a highly diverse and mixed population resulting from its colonial past, a booming economy, and a stable political system, things could not be going any better for the nation.
Or, well, that's what one may think. The recession has hit the South African economy hard, which in turn has destabilised and polarised the political spectrum. This has lead to the rise of more radical, more interventionist parties, and has once again fired up tensions with Namibia. A nation which is widely condemned by South Africa, due to its racial discrimination policies.
THE INCIDENT
Finally, the tensions between the Kingdom of Namibia and the South African Republic, could not be held any longer. A shooting at the border had drove the two nations to further increase the troops in their already militarised frontier. The two African states just needed a last spark, to make a conflict break out...
And this spark came, then a Namibian Guard Dog ran over to the South African side of the border, and a Namibian soldier ran after it to try and catch it. The Namibian soldier, naturally, was shot by the paranoid South African troops, obviously thinking that an armed soldier on their territory was not a good sign. This misunderstanding caused a shooting between both nations, accross the border, and ultimately has caused this war.
After the cause of the shooting came to the public, most political observers have satirically called this conflict "The Dog War".
