Eisenhower Regime Overthrown
Citizens of the city of Dallas this morning woke up to tanks rolling through the streets and military personnel closing roads in the immediate vicinity of the national capital building. Military members posted along the roads refused to answer any questions asked by citizens or the press. Just over an hour later gunshots erupted from inside the capital grounds as military forces seeking to overthrow the current President clashed with capital building security, the firefight lasted roughly 2 hours. After security surrendered military personnel surrounded the President's bunker entrance, its believed that this was the moment David Eisenhower took his own life. General of the Army Richard Dixon declared a temporary military junta. General Dixon is an avid supporter of the Communist Party and it is believed the new regime will take a turn towards communism.

Texan Confederacy Dissolved
Following the government takeover executed by General Richard Dixon and the Texan Armed Forces the Texan Confederacy was officially dissolved. A new country has taken its place, the People's Republic of Texas. The new government will be a democratic communist state, temporarily headed by General Richard Dixon for a 2 year period. Following the 2 year period a national election will take place to elect a General Secretary who will run the Communist Party and the PRT. Shortly after this announcement the old Texan flag was lowered from its flag pole in the capital yard, in its place rose a new flag.

GLN designates Santangel "Constitutional Reserve Powers"
In a very controversial move that has shocked the Liberal and Union Parties, the GLN has activated Article 7, Clause 57 in the Second Tolucan Constitution. The clause was added by notoriously empire-fanatic Juan Andrés Maroto, 4th President of Toluca. The clause gives extra power to the President, whoever that may be at the time. It's pretty unknown about and notoriously hard to get to pass through the Parliament, needing the approval of every Department leader and 50% of the Parliament. However, thanks to the GLN's domination of the Parliament, the clause was able to be activated.

Colazzo of the Liberal Party has called the move a "obvious and disgusting powergrab". The Liberal Party has officially denounced the move and is threatening to not participate in Parliament unless the activation of the clause is repealed.

What powers does this give the President? Well it effectively gives Santangel wholesale control over the military, effectively making the Defence Council a board of advisors. On top of this, Santangel is able to declare war all by his own authority. The aforementioned are the most important but certainly not only powers given to the President by this clause.

​Debate surrounds placement of capital









As the Yangaean nation first opens up politically to the rest of the world, both Chiefs agreed on the need for the selection of a capital city and announced the beginning of the selection process. Political analysts predict that the need comes from future plans to welcome embassies and perhaps even establish a centralized government, but this has not been officially confirmed.

The main question that seems to be causing conflict is which island will host the capital city. Chief Adams, of South Yangaea, has proposed that Yang, the most populated city in the nation, is the obvious choice. He has even begun the construction of a skyscraper (pictured above) which he is offering as the central building for embassies and government affairs, if Yang is chosen.

Unsurprisingly, Chieftess Scott has come forth in strong opposition. She has proposed that North Yangaea host the capital city, and has brought forth plans of the construction of a brand new city, in the largely unpopulated land at the very northern peninsula of the islands.

The Chiefs have also announced that if a decision is not made by the end of the year, plans to choose a capital will be suspended indefinitely.

Carpathia and Pavlovsk sign peace agreement



Khmelnytskyi, the capital of the new Oblast


The Carpathian and Pavlovski governments have signed an official peace agreement in regards to the situation in Zhovkva. This comes after the sudden invasion by the Carpathian Empire into Zhovkva led to the integration of Zhovkva as a Pavlovski Republic. The agreement made includes an assurance from the Carpathian government to cease any further attempts at northward or eastward offensive expansion. The nation of Carpathia has also been provided a small portion of the former Zhovkvan state in exchange for the long-term peace.

Carpathian and Pavlovski military forces have also begun cooperation to maintain stability in the region.

​Capital location officially announced









A last minute compromise has been found in regards to the placement of the Yangaean capital. Late last night a group of citizens from Xate (circled above) proposed their city as an option of compromise for the new capital. Both Adams and Scott were impressed with the proposal and glad to find a choice that benefits the entire country equally.

The city is not very well developed and only has a population of just over 100,000 people, but both main islands have pledged millions of yangs toward the creation of a sturdy infrastructure. Construction is set to begin immediately.

The Yangaean chiefs are beginning to reach out to other nations worldwide. The first ever formal diplomatic relationship will likely be announced in the coming weeks.

Since the enactment of the Provident Societies act the Britannia infrastructure has greatly improved. Furthermore, it has helped reduce unemployment to record figures. However, the Britannia government has seen fit to loosen the policy by no longer forcing the unemployed to take part in the scheme, but rather allow them to wait for job openings within the private sector. Still though, vagrants are forced to take part in the scheme and continues to accept volunteers.

Britannia’s relation with Perth has never been stronger due to the Commonwealth Economic League and the continuation to export Britain’s culture into Perth uniting the two states strongly. The Britannia government also feels sorrow regarding the death of the Alicia president, the government gives it support to the family as well as his successor. Although in these times of grief the Britannia extends support to the new President of Alicia Eliza Cortez wishing her the best in her new appointment.

Britannia’s private sector grows stronger by the day due to free trade with former Commonwealth states as well the oil crisis ending. Exports are increasing as well as firm’s expenditure and investing in other areas rather than spending the capital on oil and natural gas. However, the economy is still be affected by the conflicts on the continent with consumer and investor confidence stagnating in response to the French conflicts.

The Britannia military is slowly upgrading with the surplus expenditure due to growth and left-over funds from the military budget now going to Research and development of increasing the infantry equipment quality. Moreover, soon expected military budget is to increase to allow for the forces to increase in size by 50% as well as building more vehicles within all sectors (Armoured, Mechanised, Motorised). However, the government will not be making these budgetary changes until steady economic growth is achieved within the state.

On December 24th President Gaona was murdered on the Lache-Occitanian border by two gun shot wounds. Both were to the chest. Which side fired the shot that hit the President is un-clear as panic quickly took over the mass of people hoping to see a glimpse of the President. President Eliza Cortez was sworn in shortly after. Earlier today she gave a speech detailing her plan for the Lache Crisis, her budget, and President Gaonas death. President Cortez is the first women president of Alicia and with that appointed a second women Secretary of State, Elena Lacasa. Secretary Lacasa was approved by the senate 92-8. Lacasa is 58 years old and has quite the history in the political arena. Lacasa has a masters degree in Political Science, Foreign Policy, and Russian. Lacasa was a congresswoman for 8 years and served on multiple committees including foreign relations, she was then ambassador to Pavlovsk for 4 years, and finally served as a adviser to President Cortez while she was Secretary of State.
President Cortez also named her VP. She chose Senator Juan Dávalos who is the late President Gaonas cousin.

Senator Henry Bowman has been elected as the majority leader in the Senate and has sworn to constantly check President Cortez. He has stated he will not support her budget until more money is added to the military budget. Response to Tolucan Aggression

New NDC Prison in West Cape

The Federal Government of Kaapland is constructing a massive new subterranean military prison in West Cape (location yet to be announced) to serve as a "nation detention center," and to be titled NDC Eisenriese, implying it will be located in a German speaking area. Confederate Armed Forces to buy over 600,000 rifles.
Months ago the Lasirian Republic invested $500 Million in the armed forces to develop a new standard issue rifle worthy of the burgeoning army. During the transition to the Confederacy, the money was placed in a public grant that private corporations could take from to develop prototypes. After many failed attempts from various companies, Liu Arms Corporation has successfully offered a prototype for a carbine rifle they call the L15U2. It achieves the required attributes for a standard issue rifle, including:
-5.56x45mm APSIA cartridge
-Weight not exceeding 4kg (loaded)
-Effective firing range of 375m or more
-Price not exceeding $800
-Length not exceeding 42"
The Confederacy has funded $350Mn into Liu Arms Corp. as a reward as well as the right to be the exclusive small arms manufacturer for the Lasirian Armed Forces. Additionally, the LAF have placed a buy order for 600,000 rifles, at $500 per rifle, for a grand total of $300Mn. The remaining funds in the public grant have been requisitioned. The LAF Executive Office has also announced interests in exploring other domestic models for tanks, support equipment, planes, and ships.

Following the election on January 1st the votes were counted and recounted several times do to a close race between Xiang Jianhong and Chairman Huang Xiaoming but finally the results are certain and the new Chairman of Songjiang is Xiang Jianhong.

Chairman Huang Xiaoming will continue to serve as chairman while Chairman Elect Xiang Jianhong forms a new staff though it appears that the new Chairman intends to keep most of the former Chairman's staff but is apparently replacing Fang Ru as chief diplomat with Huang Xiaoming stating that Fang Ru has done an exemplary job as diplomat but it is time that his career moves in a different direction. Fang Ru is expected to take the post of Commissioner of finance in Hong Kong.

Xiang Jianhong has reportedly already begun working on developing projects intended to stimulate the economy, as well as seeking out new potential trade partners in the world.

Late last night a powerful earthquake struck Xate, with aftershocks being felt throughout South Yangaea. The earthquake measured a 7.2 on the Richter Scale, and completely disrupted the construction efforts in the new capital. Over 300 citizens remain missing, along with 114 confirmed casualties.
The construction of the embassies will likely be pushed back at least a few months while the infrastructure is repaired. The Chiefs are requesting humanitarian assistance from other nations, with particularly high pressure on the first two formal relationships (The United Pacific States and the People's Republic of Texas) announced last month.

J/DAO leadership doubles down, allows Mbali Catholic Churches

Following months of protest, the government of the Jewish/Daugava Autonomous Oblast has doubled down on its decision to allow the Mbali Catholic Church to open places of worship in the JAO. Over the past few weeks the protests against the move have begun to die down, but the announcement that local police forces will be on standby to protect the new churches has reignited anger among the civilian populace.

In the recent statement released, the JAO government stated that "allowing the creation of new and diverse communities within our land is our governmental duty", and that "advocating for minority groups and religions is a cornerstone value that [the JAO] will continue to hold".

Earlier today a group of far-left militants attacked the Ohio Congressional Hall with makeshift explosives and improvised firearms. Thirty were severely injured and eighteen were killed during the attack, including all but two of the terrorists. This attack seemed to be motivated by the Democratic Party's agreement to hash out terms with the Miller administration in order to de-escalate the internal political situation. While our capital tried to recover from the attack, several defensive positions were attacked by the Niagara Union with a series of airstrikes.

This Morning, local superhero Justin Trudeau knocked over the coffee of a 34 year old man at a local Shwarma Palace, possibly causing his second mistake ever, first one being his birth. After knocking over the cup and spilling the 100 millilitres of coffee in the container, Trudeau quickly fell to his knees and wiped up the floor with his robe, all the while kissing the mans feet and begging for forgiveness. The incident was followed by a gathering at the Shwarma Stage in Qatar, where Trudeau took the spotlight and issued an apology to all the victims of the dreaded accident this morning.
