Expanding Trade

Diplomats who went on rigid diplomatic negotiations have returned to Landersvich this morning. A trade deal has been signed between Landersvich, Vitolia, Algiers, Lache, Sundsvall, Izmir, and Vryzakis. The deal makes Landersvich accepts products and services of these countries to enter their markets with a maximum a maximum tariff of 12%. In exchange, Landersvichian products and services will enter their markets as well with a maximum tariff of 12%. All parties involved are excited at the new trade agreement - it is seen as a sign of growing prosperity in Europe. Kaiser Nicholas XII said that "This deal strengthens the relations of all involved nations, we are excited to have the chance to develop lasting bonds without European and Asian counterparts."

Separate agreements with the Kingdoms of Algiers and Izmar has also come to fruition.

In Algiers, Landersvich will build a weapons factory; It will be adding jobs - and allows Algiers to receive 10% of the rifles produced. Landersvich will help develop the nations infrastructure and oil production sites at a break-even cost.

Ismir will be invested in by HLR to help develop the nation's infrastructure. Landersvich will also help develop Ismirs navy - another contract will be written explaining prices and type of ships. They will also get; 20 Saab 105’s (fighter), 20 million dollars, and a family member of the president may enter the Imperial court - the highest honor the Empire bestows of friends. This is the first time a member of a family on another continent has joined the Landersvichian Imperial Court.

HLR's presence in Africa is ever expanding. Mountains of debt have been issued to the Sub-Saharan nations government's; however, much of the debt has been used to overhaul the ruling classes living conditions. HLR continues to develop the infrastructure of the continent and has confirmed that they have many strong bonds with the leads in Africa. Landersvichian officials are looking forward to possible talks throughout Africa in the coming weeks.

European Council organizes joint military training between members
With the situation in Europe being as tense as never before in the last 40 years, the troops of the European Council need to work together to keep the pact alive and healthy. This is the reason behind the recently planned joint military training between all the forces in the pact, improving coordination and trying to keep every army ready to defend the values of the Council.

With world becoming smaller and the foreign markets becoming bigger, it is time to start thinking outside our borders. This is probably the reason that brought the biggest car producer in Hulm and in Europe to announce their plans to start targeting the rising asian and south american markets with variants specifically aimed at the needs of the local population, with the help of new group studies.

Protests Grip Capital City
Groups of Texan citizens have taken to the streets of Dallas to protest the incumbent president David Eisenhower for his actions during the Texas-Niagara War. A few groups of protesters turned violent and began rioting in the streets but were quickly put down by police. President Eisenhower's approval rating has dropped since his surrender and continues to fall. While his ratings fall, the ratings of the Communist Party among younger Texans has began to rise. The party advocates for a communist republic much like that of their new neighbors, the Niagara Union. Support for the Communists has also seen an increase among both young and older blue collar workers throughout the country.

Earlier today President Kornsgaard spoke to the nation from his residents. He praised Hulmean and Alician soldiers, the governments of the EC, and the Prussian people. Hulm currently occupies New Prussia and has the former president in their custody. The grants promised by the Hulm government to the people financially harmed by the invasion have started to be granted and the Prussian government is up and running, under Hulm supervision. Hulm businesses have already began infiltrating the Prussian markets and land. Economic gains should be expected for the Prussian people as peace begins to be secured across Europe.

Military exercises across the EC have commenced. Troops from each nation have began training across all European climates. After a new deal was struck with the African nation of Bamako, Alician and Hulm troops will begin training in the nation to ready themselves for anything thrown their way.

Alician polls show President Gaona leading after the recent intervention the government took in the conflict. Alician political analyst put a communist candidate in the lead for a spot in congress. President Gaona denounced the candidate stating he wasn't even a real communist, just someone craving attention. The candidate was formally a police chief.

The populace of New Prussia overwhelmingly does not support the occupation; 87% of citizens side with the President and the current government, 4% believe the attack was justified, and 9% did not respond.

Prominent Strasserite politicians are now rising in the ranks due to the invasion of the state. They are urging the President to consider arresting Hulmean supporters in the government; describing those who support Hulm as possible traitors and perpetrators of high treason.

Following a summit between Theodore Sanchez, Chairman of the Democratic Party, and John Barrow, the General Secretary of the Communist Party, the two parties agreed to form a coalition. The new coalition named the Texan Worker's Coalition seeks to provide more services and protections for Texan workers. This move gives the Communist Party access to new seats in Congress, something they have been attempting to get for a long time. Both party leaders have hinted at merging the parties to create one unified Communist party but so far there are currently no public plans of doing so.

General-Secretary denounces Carpathian aggression, CPP hardliners call for action

Following the news of a completely unwarranted attack on the nation of Zhovkva by the Imperialist nation of Carpathia, the General Secretary has called an emergency meeting of the State Committee. During his statement announcing the emergency meeting, the General Secretary vehemently denounced the Carpathian government for the invasion.

The nation of Carpathia has shown the world precisely why monarchies are a threat to the world order. They are unable to co-exist: one imperialist monarchy will conquer and oppress a region, then another imperialist monarchy will conquer them to do just the same-- it is a perpetual cycle of oppression of the working class. This attack is not only an attack on the nation of Zhovkva, it is an attack on modern Eastern European and Pavlovski ideals.

Following the announcement denunciation, Communist Party hardliners have called for the General-Secretary to order direct action to intervene in the situation, rather than approach it diplomatically as the General Secretary has typically done in the past. Self-defined "Communist Fundamentalist" Ygor Hashenkel gave a comment to the Gazet on the General-Secretary's announcement.

It is good that the General-Secretary is willing to speak out against such blatantly imperialist actions, however, I believe that Mr. General Secretary must be more strict on this issue due to it's proximity to home-- what happens if Zhovkva falls? Do we want an imperialist European encroaching upon our borders? Strict action must be taken, and fast.

As it stands, no direct action is set to be taken. However, Pavlovski military leaders have halted the Oryol Corps' biennial training, ordering the Corps to mobilize to protect the border. An additional detachment of the 6th Armoured Division is also reported to be en route to reinforce the border. The General-Secretary has not explicitly approved or blocked these troop movements.

Host Marco Rubenstein explained the threat of "communist takeover" for 2 hours

SANTA ROSA - Viewers were shocked when Marco Rubenstein, host of the Mayor show on Canal 5 News during prime time last night, spent 2 hours explaining in detail a "communist takeover of Santa Rosa."

Rubenstein detailed what he purported as connections between MOLAN and other communist movements across the globe. He also accused Tito Pérez of being a communist collaborator himself for choosing to ignore the Niagaran invasion of Texas yet not hesitate to order troop deployments in France and Barnetia, both non-communist countries.

The host also scathed the president for his upcoming summit with Mikhail Gorbachad, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Pavlovsk, in Ciudad Beldad. Rubenstein alleged that "it couldn't be more obvious" that Pérez was a communist collaborator.

The live show lasted 2 hours and 4 minutes with no breaks or advertisements during. The estimated peak audience was around 2 million.

Zhovkva accepts Pavlovski integration in exchange for protection

6th Armored Division meets up with the Oryol Corps.

The government of Zhovkva has accepted to be integrated as apart of the Federal People's Republic of Pavlovsk in exchange for protection against the Carpathian invasion which has threatened their people's lives. The Pavlovski Oryol Corps and a detachment of the 6th Armoured Division.

When the war in the region is ended, the government of Zhovkva is to be entirely dismantled and integrated as a new Pavlovski state. Current elected officials in the Zhovkvan government will be provided funding to run for election in equivalent positions within the new Pavlovski government. The Zhovkvan monarchy will not be held as criminal, however, the monarchy as apart of the state is to be abolished, effective immediately. A meeting with the Carpathian government is to be set up as soon as possible to bring an end to the war in the region, and prevent further destruction.

Anger, Disgust and Sadness over Federation deal
It was a little more than a week ago when President Santangel and the GLN struck a deal with the American Federation. The deal included "the world's finest" (Santangel's words at the press conference explaining the deal) at our backs and visa-free travel to the Federation in exchange for Tolucans being eligible for Federation Conscription. We've reported about the deal over the course of the week, but read here for an El Diario exclusive.

The Union and Liberal Parties were quick to vehemently criticise the move, Leader Victoria Collazo calling it "an enroachment of the Tolucan people's liberties and a blatant disregard for democracy." Governor Ambroise of Hispaniola was also critical of the GLN's move: "If we live in a country where a the leaders can make such a monumental decision can be made with so semblance of a vote, major changes need to occur."

Naturally, the general public was enraged as well. We spoke to Valentino Dengra, father of four in Toluca City's suburbs:
I voted for Santangel because he promised a change in Toluca; a country dictated by what was best for it's citizens. While economically, the GLN has delivered, this current action is just horrific. My children, my family, why should they fight for another country? While the communist threat up north is certainly worrying, were actions this extreme necessary yet?

Many other citizens share Valentino's sentiment. However, to offer an opposing view, a significant amount of people also are content or even pleased with the agreement. El Diario spoke with Iván Encarnación and Briana Pozo, two honours students at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

It's disappointing, sure. But it is indeed necessary to secure freedom on the American continent. If the Texans were to fold so easily, imagine how long the Federation or Toluca would last by ourselves? Maybe it's just me, but if I was conscripted I would be proud to not only serve just Toluca but serving freedom as a whole. Not to mention, visa-free travel to the Federation is pretty nice.

The public is divided among this issue, but many seem to think decision is fine or even required in the current political climate. What do you think?

General Paul Oppenheimer takes control of chaos, President Tito Pérez commits suicide

Ciudad Beldad - Early in the morning, police and military units mobilized in the streets of Ciudad Beldad and other cities in Santa Rosa after a television broadcast by Director of National Police Darío Regenbogen stated that there was a "breach in domestic security."

The National Emergency Committee, which is a junta of military officers in all ranks of the Santa Rosan Armed Forces, promptly secured the countryside and most urban centers in the country in a rapid urban deployment. Upon arrival at the President's residence in the Palace of the Republic, President Pérez reportedly committed suicide.

Per decree, the National Emergency Committee declared a state of emergency across the entire country of Santa Rosa and declared Paul Oppenheimer to be the President of the Republic in an acting capacity. Oppenheimer accepted the reigns of power and took control of the executive branch of the government.

"Santa Rosa was threatened by a foreign communist menace and the Armed Forces stepped in to protect our dear country," President Oppenheimer stated. "This was not a coup. This was a measure to protect national security."

Among the first actions of the new Government Junta was the suspension of the Constitution, the closure of Congress, and the installation of a national curfew. Additionally, the Junta ordered a decree that outlawed political activity and political parties in Santa Rosa.

Loyalist Forces Crush Coup!

The Judas amongst us, Party Leader Laurent Barumba and his traitorous dogs from the Mbale Armed Forces were captured after their forces were surrounded by the Pontifical Guard. Members of the Schildwacht special forces had desperately defended our dear leader for weeks until significant forces from the Pontifical Guard and loyalist regiments could break through rebel strongholds and rescue our Prime Minister-Pope and his family. Along with these inclusive additions the Armed Forces and Pontifical Guard will be seeing a 10% rise in wages to reward them for their recent gallantry.

Chairman Huang Xiaoming has announced that Songjiang will have its first election to elect a Chairman of the Republic, on January 1st 1992. He has also announced that from this point on elections for the position will take place every 4 years on January first.

Contenders have until December 20th to announce there entry into the election but must be from a approved political party of Songjiang.

Freyja Vandenbrock head of National Supervisory Commission has opted to run as the representative of the Communist Conservatives Party.
She is running under the platform of increased effort to reduce crime, government corruption, and to increase political ties to other communist nations around the world.
She and her party favor a more traditional Communist party with industry belonging to the state, and only limited private industry if any at all.
Dispite being a woman she is against women in the military, as per the values of her party.
She is currently in last place in early polls.

Xiang Jianhong CEO of the Wuxing Management Corporation is running under the Rykovian Capitalists Party.
He is running under the platform of increased trade, and improved world wide relations as well as a stronger military.
He and his party favor trade and the military might to foster that trade without interruption by hostile entities.
While not a member of the Rykovian Reformists Party he is known to have Reformist tendencies.
He expected to be a strong contender with his management skills, track record of success, and many allies in the Politburo.
Xiang is currently leading in early poles but is only slightly ahead of Chairman Huang Xiaoming.
It is expected his status as sexiest man in Songjiang as per a 1991 pole will have an impact on this election with female voters.

Chairman Huang Xiaoming is running as the incumbent under the Rykovian Reformist Party.
His platform is as it has always been increased rights of women, and minority groups native to Songjiang, better quality of life to all the people of Songjiang, and secondary to that is the increase to trade and political relations with other nations.
Strong political Allies is Yahel and Pavlovsk keep him a strong contender in the election, his views on Songjiangs prison system are however a detractor since he is in favor of traditional prisons seen throughout the world. His opponents say that work camps deter crime and make criminals give back tot here nation while tuning a profit rather than costing money.

Government seats, Joint Air Training, and Alician banking

With elections a couple months behind us these are our new government seats and party control.
The house has 109 liberals, 85 conservatives, 4 independents, 1 Cordoba Nationalist (Tejador) , and 1 member from the communist party.
The senate has 50 Conservatives, 49 liberals, and 1 independent.
President Cortez is a member of the liberal party.
Out of the 8 districts. 5 have conservative governors while 3 have liberal governors, if Cordoba is counted in it brings the total to 5 conservative governors 4 liberal governors.

After the meeting between President Cortez and the President of Hulm, Cortez announced Alicia-Hulm forces would begin joint Air training to strengthen ties and better prepare the nations to respond to emergencies in Europe. Alicia and Hulm markets are currently enjoying free trade with companies entering the two nations rapidly.

Alician Insurance and banking company RAMANO have announced they will begin entering Asian markets in the coming month. The company will be offering packages with discounted insurance if you bank with them. The company has announced they plan to add 1000 jobs across Alicia by next month as well.

President Cortez has announced the new Alician aircraft carrier and over haul of the navy and military will be complete on May 20th. The new ship is set to sail May 22nd at a ceremony the President plans to attend.

The Pavlovski Interkosmos is proud to announce the Mir Space Station - a new, long term, co-operative project which will continue Pavlovski innovation in the realms of space. Current plans for the station are for it to serve as a micro-gravity research laboratory for experimentation in biology, physics, astronomy, meteorology, and future spacecraft technologies, with an ultimate objective of developing technology which will allow a permanent human presence in outer space. The station is to be launched in a modular fashion, and assembled via remotely controlled RCS booster systems.

If all plans are executed efficiently, the first modules of the station are to be launched in the winter of next year. The station is expected to be fully completed and operational by the end of 1995, and a deadline of the end of November 1996 has been set for the project.

A group of top generals and admirals in the Texan Armed Forces have held a rally in conjunction with the Texan Workers' Coalition in the capital city of Dallas. Alongside the Generals were roughly 15,000 disgruntled Texan Army soldiers protesting against the incumbent president David Eisenhower. Eisenhower's support among service members has plummeted recently, most notably after President Eisenhower did nothing to avoid a war with Niagara that caused disastrous casualties among the Armed Forces. His rating among the military is estimated to be about 25% and falling. Among those demanding Eisenhower's resignation is General of the Army Austin Miles and Admiral of the Navy Robert Jackson.

Eastern and southern provinces enjoying infrastructure funding from corporations
Quality of life raising for inhabitants
Five months ago provinces around Lasir began to sell massive parcels of land off to corporations for short term cash windfalls. In certain provinces such as Bangkok, Hanoi, and South Pattaya, the role of the corporations have completely supplanted that of the state. In light of this, companies such as Costco and Chevron have begun to spend massive amounts of money investing in domestic industry and infrastructure in order to better increase their own profits. Chevron, in control of some of the biggest oil reserves in the country, has also begun a program to renovate the archaic drilling equipment that was put in place under the old regime. They also announced the construction of the Chevron Institute of Natural Sciences in Dawei, the provincial capital. At the NSD, Chevron will be providing scholarships for any students who pursue degrees in petroleum sciences. The Vanguard Group, Oceania, has also begun a mass scale reform of the financial systems in Bangkok in order to better increase the efficiency of the Bangkok Financial district. All across Lasir massive funds in donations and loans have been given to the Lasirian Nationwide Infrastructure Project, which aims to build over $200Bn worth of paved roads across the country. Studies have shown a direct correlation between the amounts invested and the land owned by multiple corporations, with nations actively opposing the corporatocracies, most notably the Miao Territories, receiving the least amount of funding. It seems that a more modern Lasir is not as far away as we think.

Jewish citizens protest opening of Mbali Catholic Churches

In response to the government of the Daugava Autonomous Oblast (also known as the Jewish Autonomous Oblast or JAO) allowing the Mbali Catholic Church to expand into the Oblast, Jewish citizens who are against the expansion have taken to the streets of Libetshoyv to voice their opinions. Joyama Gahinkelberg, one of the main organizers of the movement, discussed the issue with the Gazet.

The religious freedoms that are granted to us here in the JAO are in place for one reason; to protect and honor our heritage. This move to allow new religions to move into the area is not only a shallow attempt to draw more tax revenue, it is an attack on the history of the Pavlovski-Jewish people. We will not stand idly by as our heritage is threatened once more by an outside force."

A smaller counter-protest group has also formed in support the Mbali Catholic church. A member of this counter-protest group also met with the Gazet.

The people and government of Daugava are making the right move with this decision. To disallow smaller religions and congregations is to make Daugava an exclusionary state which does not welcome diversity of heritage, religion, or thought. It is our duty to use the freedoms granted to us to be as inclusive and welcoming as possible.

As it stands, the Mbali Catholic Church is still allowed in the JAO. But as public outcry against the move continues to grow in the area, more politicians have began to go back on their decision. It is yet to be seen whether the decision will be overturned.
