The New Tower of Heaven

This is a sign up thread for a Tower of Heaven situation on the Nationstates international incidents forum. You can role play as either a slave, one of the cultists, or government and military officials, or just observe the whole incident as a nation who has had their citizens kidnapped. There will soon be an option to send a couple of battalions or regiments to militarily intervene on the island. The story is set in the modern era, 2018.

About the tower of heaven From the Fairy Tail Wikia

Cartoonia’s version:

The Tower of Heaven (or the R-System) was a magical device conceived by Zeref Dragneel in 1845, that would have been used to revive his little brother, Natsu Dragneel. Zeref was also know both as “the Dark Mage” or the “First Modern Magician”. However, it was a weird concept to say the least. Durning this time period, no one in the world knew how to harness the power of magic (the world powers of Europe and Japan anyway). It also required a whole lot of human sacrifices, so the People at the University of Pennsylvania, advised him to abandon the plan, and no one else bothered to help him out. He would die in the Civil War in 1862. In the American Colony of Cartoonia In April of 1899, People began to rediscover and harness the powers of magic, with magic guilds popping up all over the place. It was here that magic was being abused as well. The Great Magnolia Christmas Fire of 1899 was an event where the future capitol of the Province Ishgar, Magnolia, burnt to the ground by dark magic radicals on December 24. 500 children were taken and forced into labor. It was also here where magic begins to become regulate when President William McKinley signed the Magic Act of 1900, with the Magic Council being established.

Throughout the early 20th Century, thousands of children would be taken from their homes to become slaves to these dark magicians who would call themselves Zeref-Cultists, finding the religion Zerefism. These slave should be used to build the R-System to revive the dark mage. There were originally 7 towers throughout the borders, but it took a while for the magic council to step up and do something about it. The most infamous one was the 8th Tower nicknamed the Tower of Heaven. Some of the most prominent members of the nation were once slaves here. Including the current Chancellor Erza Scarlet. It wasn’t until 1959 when the Cartoon Armed Forces intervene and destroyed the tower. Tom knows what would’ve happened had not the Cartoon Forces intervened that day. Everything related to Zeref was shut down, even the not so popular political party, The International Order of Zeref. This also led to the shutting down of the incompetent and inefficient magic council in favor of a department of magic. This could have been a precursor to Cartoonia’s mostly imperial policy.

In 2018, a new tower of heaven has risen. A man from Quahog, Peter Griffin, has read several magic books after getting fired from the Pawtucket Brewery. And philosophizing that if he can build this, he can be ruler of the world (basically the same idiotic thing Peter does every week). And here we are today, he has successfully kidnapped not only children and other citizens around the world, but he recruited members as well. He has left Cartoonia to this island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. No one knows how long they have been there. We do know that the world is in peril. Lives are in peril. And the world as we know it might come to an end.

General RP Rules:
1. All tech levels are welcome, but no teleporters, orbital artillery, etc. (anything overpowering really is not allowed)

2. As I said at the top, you can RP as a slave to the tower, a cultist, or a military officer or government official. Or maybe a nation who is just observed the entire incident unfold

3. if your characters use magic and is a slave, you can’t use your magic until the rebellion.

4. After a couple of posts, I will let my military circle the tower on patrol and call in an international meeting. This could lead to a military conflict.

5. All other standard RP rules apply

the RP will take place into different parts or chapters. there will be an introductory chapter with life inside the tower as one of the slaves or cultists, and after that will be the realization and discovery of the island. more will be explained as I continue to develop this story.

The two sides are

The Allies - nations who will be liberating the slaves of the island
The Zeref Cultists - people who have kidnapped citizens to make them slaves to build the Tower of Heaven to resurrect Zeref and take over the world, some nations can say they will provide aid in exchange for power in the new world order that will come when Zeref returns.

Characters to play as:

Cultists (in charge of running the tower)

Military officers (commands troops or ships during the war chapters)

Government officials (diplomats, agents, leaders, representatives, etc. for later chapters)

Oh yeah, the two sides are the allies - the nation’s that will be liberating the leaves of the tower, and the other side are the Neo-Zeref Cultists - those who have kidnapped citizens of different nations in order to resurrect Zeref and control the world.

Government Type: Representative Meritocracy
Tech level: MT (~1950-2018)
Nation info: A somewhat libertarian nation with a strong arms and manufacturing industry, modern but reduced Navy (following the Great Survival War / Price of The Jackal's Feast), beautiful environment, and cynical population located in the North Atlantic. The Lord Protector Jeremy Rimmer is the head of state and performs a dictatorial role. The head of government is Secretary General Basil Hawthorne, an ambassador and bureaucrat. Due to limited natural resources on the islands of Shackley they rely on imports to continue developing advanced technology and support the manufacturing industry. Shackley has a history of starting wars with less-advanced or less well-defended nations with the hopes of supplementing the economy and ensuring survival.

Backstories: Rimmer was an Admiral during the Qaidi civil war in summer 2017. In this role he commanded a task force and committed several attacks on what were believed to be Qaidi insurgent forces. For his actions he was promoted to Officer Commanding of the Royal Shackleyan Navy and led the fleet against the Soviet/Allanean coalition during the Great Survival War of 2018. Following a defeat and the loss of his entire taskforce, flagship and crew and the traumatic events of his own unwilling survival the already alcoholic Admiral began to suffer from the symptoms of PTSD and became politically motivated to end the war as soon as possible. During a routine briefing to discuss strategy at the Royal Palace bunker at Fort Dalton in the capital city Rimmer sabotaged the outer doors and committed a coup d'etat with his service pistol, killing several military and government officials and resulting in the abdication of King Harold XIX. He now rules over the new Imperial Fiefdom of Shackley with the hopes of restoring Shackley's military might and being an overall less corrupt nation.

Backstories: Rogar Burton is from a small coastal community in the Province of Sarcanza, having lived through much of The War there as a 16-year-old irregular "employed" (forced into the war) by the Sarcanzan rebels as a supply mule. He was moved down to northern Zarbia, from which he would bring supplies to fighters in Sarcanza. When the revolt was settled in Sarcanza, Rogar found it difficult to settle back into the civilian world because he was known for his "seditious activities" during the war, so he joined the regulares at the age of 24. Fighting mostly in Theohuanacu during those four years, he was imprisoned and discharged from the military after being caught stealing computers and other electronic equipment and selling it to the locals. He escaped in transit to a military prison in Theohuanacu and fled to Tarn, a free city that although part of the empire never truly ran by its rules. There, he joined Koman Services, a private military contractor based in the city.

Territory includes IRL , German colonies in 1910, Poland in 1920, and the Baltic states. Population is 145 million, with a military of 5 million, plus another 5 million from various paramilitary organizations. While the main focus is on the Heer(army), the Navy and Air Force aren't neglected, and are still rather powerful. The current leader is Kaiser Crassus von Hohenzollern-Jagellion.

Aceus has blond-white hair, green eyes, and a man aged twenty seven years young. Clean shaven, broad shouldered, and standing just over six feet in height, he maintains a healthy constitution in spite of resting on his martial laurels.

Suleiman is a typical Arab, with dark slightly spiked hair, mild scruff, and dark eyes. Wiry, but gradually gaining muscles, with a gaze of wisdom and determination out of place of an eighteen year old. But such are the things required for an erudite leader of an insurgency.

Backstories:
Aceus Elurion has been raised in Cartoonia, studying under prominent magical and martial artists to prepare him for the White Throne of Yggdrasilia. After quelling the terrorists that held Canterlot hostage in a previous debacle, Aceus returns to Cartoonia alongside his daughter, Erika von Scarnhorst for a familial bonding session of beating up Zegref Cultists and getting his mind off of certain events.

Suleiman Abdualim however is learned in the Alchemical arts, and hails from a easily overlooked corner of Danceria and it’s even more so neglected Muslim minority, and smuggled himself aboard the Tower with his cohorts. Through guile and intrigue, he proved himself one of the few who knew the full extent of the Tower of Heaven’s power and capabilities, while Peter and his compatriots squabble over senseless things. With this power, he aims to shake the world in his own image, at the cost of a few negligible lives.

Magic users (specify): Aceus has been trained by arguably the most powerful martial-artists and magicians of this day and age, even going toe to toe with one Twilight Sparkle in his youth. His fighting style is reminicent of a low-level Dragonball Z or Street Fighter character, channeling his ki for a variety of blasts or enhancing his physical abilities and reflexes.

Suleiman by contrast, holds very little magical prowess, but knows greatly about Alchemical Lore.

After quelling the terrorists that held Canterlot hostage in a previous debacle, Aceus returns to Cartoonia alongside his daughter, Erika von Scarnhorst for a familial bonding session of beating up Zegref Cultists and getting his mind off of certain events.

Suleiman Abdualim however is learned in the Alchemical arts, and hails from a easily overlooked corner of Danceria and it’s even more so neglected Muslim minority, and smuggled himself aboard the Tower with his cohorts. Through guile and intrigue, he proved himself one of the few who knew the full extent of the Tower of Heaven’s power and capabilities, while Peter and his compatriots squabble over senseless things. With this power, he aims to shake the world in his own image, at the cost of a few negligible lives.

Magic users (specify): Aceus has been trained by arguably the most powerful martial-artists and magicians of this day and age, even going toe to toe with one Twilight Sparkle in his youth. His fighting style is reminicent of a low-level Dragonball Z or Street Fighter character, channeling his ki for a variety of blasts or enhancing his physical abilities and reflexes.

Suleiman by contrast, holds very little magical prowess, but knows greatly about Alchemical Lore.
