The year is 2200. There are 2 superpowers - Suryak and Oppermenia, the eagle and the wolf. Both countries couldn't be more different. Suryak rules much of Europe, and Oppermenia rules Iceland, Greenland and Canada. Oppermenia - a liberal collectivist monarchist democracy, while Suryak - an authoritarian fascist stratocratic absolute monarchy. Two ideological struggles, just bound to come to conflict. Who will you choose in this new cold war?

[Suryak]

Suryak. Born from the ashes of Germany, Suryak could be seen as a successor of not the German Empire but of course Nazi Germany. Suryak barreled its way through Europe using its Post-Modern Tanks uniting many ethnicities under one- Suryakese.

The current ruler is the famed Emperor Louis Bonaparte Petain- a feared leader. He caused the subjugation of the extremely powerful North Empire(Norway, Scotland, and Ireland). To this day his concentration camps force hard labor on those who tried to stop the great Empire of Suryak.

Fascist is the term to describe Suryak-the belief of one race supreme among others. Although this is correct, most outsiders view them as just that- Nazis. This cannot be more false. The Suryakese have a rich history-the founding of their nation is 1871 as Suryak originated in Prussia. They were the ones who stopped the great Mongol Invasion. Russia-which failed, isn't in their borders.

A Post-Modern nation, Suryak stands in a time of recreation. The New Mongol Empire in the east-they cannot stand to the might of Suryak. However, the Soviets have reappeared and so has America. But Suryak's concern is Oppermenia-the new vikings.

Temujin Khan sits in Beijing, contemplating his khanate, Temujistan, and the global state of affairs.

The world is a different place now. Gone are the times when humans divided themselves based on tribal affiliation. Blasted away are the sensibilities of the past.

Thousands of ethnic groups around the world are cooped up in less than 10 countries, demarcated less by culture and more by ideology. The Atlantic holds much tension, for on opposite sides of this narrow channel of an ocean are two giant entities of different ideologies.

Each entity holds various ethnicities, who all consider themselves as brothers and sisters, as citizens of the Fatherland.

Oppermenia has Iceland, the last vestige of the Vikings, who left a language a sister to the Old Norse tongue. They have Greenland, where the Vikings mingled with Inuits and formed the Greenlandic culture, in area famed not for its lush greenery, but its beautiful displays of eternal winter. They have Canada, where the Englishmen and Frenchmen forged a new, prosperous land South of the Ocean of the Midnight Sun.

Suryak has Europe, a land small in area but with large diversity. Their country spans an entire continent, from the land of the Portuguese, the famed mariners, to the land of the Germans, who united the peoples of Central Europe, to the Greeks, who produced a body of philosophy and literature admired to this day, to the British, who had an empire where the Sun never set.

In these countries, the ethnicities live in relative harmony. The countries manage to stay cohesive.

But between them is a strong tension, akin to two groups of 10 dragons each playing tug-of-war. They seem to be splitting the Earth apart with their strong hatred of each other. Temujin wants to stay out of this, but he doubts that he can stay out forever.

All continuities of the past are broken. The British Empire, the United States, the Roman Empire, the German Empire, China, the Caliphate, all are gone. Geopolitics has been wiped clean, with a blank slate and no connection to the world of before.

Temujin feels Temujistan is the only connection to the world before. According to him, Oppermenia and Suryak are new constructs, not continuations of previous countries. All previous countries have been destroyed, one can not claim to be neither the continuation nor the successor. Temujin himself has destroyed continuation threads: the independent civilizations of China, India, and Iran are no more, now parts of Temujistan. However, he feels that his empire is the successor of something bigger, something better, what Temujin thinks is the most important empire:

The Mongol Empire.

After all, he reasons, he himself is descended from Chinggis Khan, the Borjigin lineage. He has restored the Mongol Empire, that struck fear everywhere, from China to Arabia to Europe.

But he knows that administering this will not be easy. China and India are some of the densest places on Earth. There is much pollution and population growth that must be curbed. He is not sure if the Empire can stay together.

He casts these thoughts aside, thinking that pessimism will set him back. He institutes a draft of 15% of the population.

He declares to the world that Temujistan will be separate from the world. The borders close and Temujistan is left to itself. Temujin Khan believes this will not do harm, after all, Temujistan is abundant in resources.

His question now is how to keep the world out.

The problem is it's not possible.

[Oppermenia]

Oppermenia had gone through a lot over the years. What was important is that they had made it through it all. Anarchy, their founding, war, a couple power struggles, even; they made it through it all. And now, ruled by Premier Kevin as head of state and PM Michael Stein as head of government, the Crowned Democratic Socialist States of Oppermenia are a world superpower. Not the most powerful by a long shot, but one of the most influential ones. Being a collectivist federal republic with a constitutional monarchy makes them the country in the world that embodies leftist values.
And then, there comes Suryak: the opposite of Oppermenia, it's a far right statocratic absolute monarchy. They have been clashing for years. Maybe some weddings that didn't come to fruition, or maybe even full war. But it was different then. Back then, they were just these small countries and not the world superpowers they are today. A war with Suryak today would mean a world war, and maybe even total annihilation for both sides.
These two countries are just bound to clash. It's inevitable. Two opposite ideologies, of course they will. It's different with SR and SA. SA is more rightist, but democratic. SR is authoritarian, but holds far left values such as Communism even if they go a bit too far with it. Suryak holds no similarities to Oppermenia besides a monarchy, and even those are different.
Oppermenia and Suryak, the wolf and the eagle. They will come to conflict eventually. But, should it happen, an all-out war would mean chaos for both sides and the world. So, PM Michael Stein and Premier Kevin decide a plan.
They don't want Suryak to spread its oppression and tyranny throughout the world. So, rather than fighting Suryak, they will simply contain them. Indirectly, through maybe proxy wars and trade wars, they will thwart Suryak's efforts in whatever they're planning.
This isn't war. No, this is something else. This is cold war.

He feels sorry for Iran/Persia-Kebabistan and its royal family. He deposed them when he took over Iran after GWOTC 5. However, he feels it to be a terrible idea to hold on to Iran. The Iranis loved their royalty and they hate Temujin Khan, for Temujistan claims to be the continuation of the Mongol Empire and the Mongol Empire killed many Iranis.

Temujin Khan makes the old Shahbanu the ruler of Iran again and converts Iran from a part of Temujistan to a protectorate of Temujistan. Iran lives once again. However, they are vassals of Temujistan, so they must help Temujin Khan during war and pay taxes to him. Also, rather than ruling the Middle East and SE Asia like they did in GWOTC 5, the Shahbanu will only control Iran proper.

Unlike Temujistan, Iran is not cut off from the world. The Shahbanu sends Fatimah Qasim to Oppermenia to meet with Jon, Saul, and Daniel.

Temujin orders an invasion of Mongolia: the homeland of the Mongols. Planes start flying into Mongolia to carry troops over the Gobi Desert, while some troops enter through the narrow corridors between the Gobi Desert and the East and West corners of Mongolia.

(BTW, this is not an invasion of SR, for he claimed the former USSR, but Mongolia was not in the USSR (it was a satellite state)).

Meanwhile, Saul and Daniel hear about the visit. Daniel comes to the palace for the visit, while Saul flies to the palace from New Zealand.

OOC:Modern tech to Post-Modern Tech. Spicing things up EDIT:The AU ended with Suryak supporting a "coup" and taking over Turkey

Suryak begins by an intervention in the Brazilian Civil war. They support the Brazilian fascists who hold the Amazon rain-forest and Northern Brazil. Tanks, weapons and ships are sent using armed convoys and a naval escort.

Qasim lands in Oppermanson Airport, glad that Iran lives on, but disappointed that they are not as powerful as in the past. She looks forward to meeting the Oppermenians, for they were Irani allies back in GWOTC 5.

Qasim is greeted by royal escorts.

In Iran, the Shahbanu is not sure what to do about Turkey. Suryak did remove the AU danger from it, but Turkey was one of the three original nations in Persia-Kebabistan and Turkey is where the Shahabanu is from.

She decides to request to buy Turkey. However, she needs permission from Temujin Khan, first.

Temujin Khan's forces move through Mongolia. The Mongolians are happy about this: after all, Temujin Khan himself is Mongolian.

His forces enter the ruins of Karakorum, the capital of the Mongol Empire. After securing the area, he orders the area to be protected, for he wants to restore Karakorum and make it his capital.

He gets the Shahbanu's telegram. He allows her to request buying Turkey, but says they must make it clear that Temujistan has no part in this transaction. He also says to not be aggressive toward Suryak and to not make Suryak hostile to Temujistan.

In Brazil, the fascist forces moves through the coast, seizing many cities. The Liberal Democrats are now isolated in Rio de Janero which is put under a siege.

Karakorum is starting to be restored. The first thing they are building is a palace for Temujin. In the meantime, Temujin is staying in a hotel in Kharkhorin.

Temujin commands construction of more bases. Bases are built along the West border of India.

Seeing large amounts of Brazilian convoys, they decide to storm one. Realizing they are Oppermenian convoys, they begin attempting to sink them. Meanwhile, large amounts of supplies are sent as they siege Rio de Janerio. Fascist forces start an offensive to take the ports in Rio de Janerio.

Daniel nervously steps forward. He indeed wants to make amends, but he is still scared of Jon.

Meanwhile, Temujin notices the Suryakese takeover of Bangladesh. He starts feeling tense.

OOC: Guys, I am starting to think that since Temujistan is an absolute monarchy, it would make more sense for it to be authoritarian and Suryak-aligned. Can I change which side it leans toward?

BTW, Iran is separate from Temujistan, but it is still a vassal.

"Hi, Daniel," Jon says. "Listen, I know we've had our differences, but I hope we can move past them. And, if it's worth anything: I'm sorry."

[South Raznakova]

South Raznakova, a powerful nation, known for its military prowess and led by General Secretary Vladimir Vodovenko. The General Secretary has decided to remain neutral in this cold war between Suryak and Oppermenia. But Jon of Oppermenia is attempting to make peace with Daniel, son of Markos. Daniel was responsible for devastating terrorist attacks on the capital several years ago, and the people of SR are not happy that he has not been brought to justice. The General Secretary is willing to let Daniel remain alive and free, as long as he does not come to SR. Although SR remains neutral, it will not take much to force the General Secretary to take a side.

[Persia-Kebabistan]

Daniel contemplates his life with tears in his eyes. He lived his entire life with Markos, his father. They both loved each other dearly, and Daniel was even an important Illuminati officer once. The killing of Markos devastated him.

However, he knows Jon did not mean harm. Jon lost a parent, just like Daniel, but this was the doing of Markos. Markos made the Illuminati with good intentions, but it was an evil organization, and Markos, without realizing it, became the thing he sought to destroy.

It is hard for Daniel to accept this, but he knows that Jon did what he felt was right.

He accepts Jon's apology.

[South Raznakova]

Two men observe the meeting between Jon and Daniel.

"He has arrived.", says one of the men into a radio.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary sends a message to the leader of Suryak, asking if he would be willing to meet.

The offensive succeeds. Rio de Janero is cut off from the world., but they still have air superiority because Suryak didn't supply aircraft.
