SOS TREKA, CHUUKANGO.

Winter Storm Burr is set to hit the nations of Treka and Chuukango this weekend.
This late October autumn storm will severely damage the two nations as a winter storm this powerful has not been recorded in two years.

The storm will bring...
Well over 2 ft of snow
Winds of at least 130 mph
Freezing rain
Thunder and Lightning
Countless Tornadoes
Extreme Storm surge
Rough seas

Both nations have their advantages however.
-Trekan and Chuukangan buildings are made of native pine tree wood among other strong hardwoods, made to hold up tons of snow. Each house is able to take a beating.
-their coastlines are rocky and neither nation has land below sea level so flooding will only occur in major port cities, cities with low seawalls and cities where the rocky coast or beach isn’t high above sea level.

The storm will make landfall around Friday October 26th at 12 pm, and will finally disappear Sunday October 28th at 10 pm after hovering over lake Chuukangus.

Rules: Elparia only, no godmodding.
RP as you usually would. Must be on elparian map or already had notified the cartographers of your claim.

Portsmouth, Friday, October 19th. 12:13 pm.
President Albert Frère sat quietly over his lunch: a peanut butter and fluff sandwich, some grapes, and a bag of Cape Herring Kettle Cooked chips he had snuck from the pantry while his wife wasn’t looking. Stress and anxiety had been bearing down him all year. The states’ rights activists had been breathing down his neck since March. They’d been protesting, even rioting. Now he had an international summit on his hands as well. His lunch, which he’d extended to an hour long, was the only real break in his day. The lights were off. It was just him, his thoughts, and a full bag of Cape Herring Kettle Cooked chips. In other words, absolute bliss.

Someone bursted into his office loudly and flipped the lights on. The President near reached for his wheel gun, the sudden burst of light momentarily blinding him. He regained his vision rather quickly and glared at the man so audacious as to interrupt his lunch- his secretary, Steven Andrews.

Steven stood straight, holding a stack of papers in his hand, “Apologies Mr. Frère, but-“
Frère interrupts, exasperated, “My god, what did I say about intruding on my lunchtime?”
Steven responded, “Yes, sir, but the Department of Homeland Security and wanted me to give you this immediately.” He puts the paper on the President’s desk and swiftly exits, shutting the lights and door behind him.

Albert leaned back in his chair, there was always something new to deal with, wasn’t there? He picked up the paper and read it with contempt. The paper was issued by the National Weather Service, it outlined the path of a serious winter storm, named Burr, which was carving a path directly towards the state of Piscataquis. Promptly, he was on the phone with the head of Homeland Security.

Chuukango, Sunday, October 21st. 5:30 pm.
An emergency broadcast echoes over the radios, TVs, and Cell Phones.
Emergency Alert
The Following is a nation-wide emergency alert from the Department of Homeland Security

The Unitary States of Chuukango is currently expecting hurricane force winds and heavy snowfall set to hit the coast of Piscataquis State over the course of this weekend.
An average of 20 inches of snowfall and winds up to 130 mph are expected in the immediate path of Winter Storm Burr.

A state of Emergency has been declared in the following states:
  • Piscataquis
  • Rosemouth
  • Damariscove

The Following Areas are under mandatory evacuation orders.
  • Jameson, Damariscove
  • Hauton, Piscataquis
  • Dover-Foxcroft, Piscataquis
  • Portsmouth, Rosemouth
  • Rosemouth City, Rosemouth

Citizens within the aforementioned areas are advised to follow evacuation orders, however, citizens who persist on remaining in their homes are advised to visit their local hospitals and military installations, for access to free emergency kits.

End of Emergency Alert
This Broadcast repeats

Hauton, same day, 5:32 pm
The 67-year-old Maria Boulle sat in her chair, watching the TV. She was unfazed by the emergency alert, as a matter of fact, she laughed at it. She’d seen winter storms before, what was a little snow going to do to her? Her son was sure to come to shovel her out, and she had plenty of food in the house. Plus, she knew the nice men and women of the Unitary National Militia would be coming around with MREs. She was all set, as far as she was concerned.

Fort Chamberlain, same day Hauton.
Hauton Militiamen begin mobilizing to assist with evacuations and handing out emergency rations, all along the coast National Militia are doing the same. Quietly, the men knew there wouldn’t be time to get to everyone. The emergency order was far too late.

City Hall, Maen, Bridgtenia, Governor Sean Baker of Bridgtenia State
Governor Sean Baker was noticed of the incoming Storm, he headed for the City of Maen, population, 186,000. The state of Bridgtenia was set to get hit harder than any other state in Treka or Chuukango. Newburyport was safely set upon a coast made up of classic Trekan rocky cliffs, as was Maen, but most of Maen was tall hotels sat along one of the only beaches in the state. The storm surge in Bridgtenia would be extremely high and Maen was beginning to be evacuated. The Trekan national guard, coast guard, State Police, county sheriff, city police and the State Militia were enlisted to help the city of Maen evacuate as fast as possible.
The Governor stood in city hall watching out the window as the large clouds in the distance started coming his way. Earlier a light flurry brought 2 inches of snow. Soon it’d be More than 30 inches.

Later on in the day, a Nationwide broadcast came on.

Current Report on the status of the Nation treka during Winter storm Burr:
Only Trekan numbers included, chuukango won’t be counted.
Burr is almost over Cumberland state.

Burr is a category 5 hurricane at this point. It is expected to just sit over Lake Chuukangus, the world’s largest lake, for A few days, causing mayhem.

The current death toll is at 700 people. The deadliest in Trekan history. Over 3,000 are seriously injured.
The record wind speed has been recorded on Mt. Hancock in Hancock state, 195 mph.
The record rainfall was 23” in Newburyport, Bridgtenia.
Record snowfall was 42” in Laconia, Toloka.
The current cost of the damage is estimated to be at $11 billion.
The costliest in Trekan history.
Every single state in treka has declared a state of emergency and reported casualties.
The single largest loss of life was the sinking of Oil tanker “Massaqwea”
76 crewmen died. Every single soul on board.
The ship was knocked by a 30 ft wave and it created a spark, the entire ship burst into flames, all counter measures failed. Luckily most of the oil burned before it could seep into the ocean.
The exact cause and reasoning behind the failure is to be investigated when safe to do so.
Contact with the entire state of marcassetts was lost late Saturday. The exposed island is said to be in more danger than any other place in the range of this storm.

Winter Storm Burr has officially dissipated
Tuesday, October 30th, 2018
Image
Early Tuesday morning, the deadly winter storm that wreaked havoc across the nation of Treka and Chuukango dissipated. The Storm was recorded as the worst storm to ever hit Treka, and the most powerful hurricane despite being a So’wester. The Chuukangan numbers are yet to come in, but the Trekan numbers have.
In total, 5,256 people died, Meanwhile 12,000 have been reported injured.
The Numbers are staggering, out of the 5,256 who have been reported dead so far, 3,200 of them were from the state of Marcassetts, the island state was directly hit by one of the strongest arms of the storm, the island lost contact with the mainland from late Saturday to late Monday. Help could not be sent.
In total, $23 billion of damage was cost. The two largest sources, the state of Bridgtenia and yet again, Marcasetts, each with around $7 billion in damage.
The strongest storm to ever hit Treka before this was Category 5 Hurricane Stephen of August 1976, which killed 233 people and caused $8 billion worth of damage. The worst So’Wester alone before Burr to ever hit Treka was Winter Storm Lawrence of March 1964, causing 100 deaths and $4 billion worth of damage. 500,000 homes have been destroyed or heavily damaged.
The highest recorded wind speed during this storm was 195 MPH in Peaks, Bridgtenia. The Most snowfall was 50 inches, reported in Greenville, Toloka.
The Most rainfall was recorded in Hartsburg, Sagadahoc, with 19 inches of rain. The Highest storm surge was in Vinalhaven, Marcassetts, with a storm surge of 30 ft. Every State declared a state of emergency and every state has reported at least 15 casualties. More and more injured than dead the farther south you go. The Lowest temperature was -10° Fahrenheit in Rocky Hill, Andoria. The highest, 45° in Noelia city, Noelia.

Grand Principality of the Greater Vanya

Alina smiled radiantly as a troop of handsome young officers kowtowed before her and then disembarked from the austere steel gondola that had carried them down from the summer palace. It had been a long journey and their cheeks had grown raw and pink with cold. For some of them, such as Imeda Barseghian, this had improved rather than marred their appearance, though even his sleek, verdant uniform was wet and smudged with melted snow. Her father, who stood shivering a few feet away, spoke a few prim words to the commander, a middle-aged man with a dour face, hefty gut, and a profusion of grey whiskers that together conspired to make of him the very image of a walrus. Meanwhile her uncle, ever the rowdy soldier clasped first this and then that officer on the back, prattling on about gambling debts owed to him and about how an office named Tigran should come hiking with him when the weather next allowed.

The contrast between the two of them was stark and made her blush with embarrassment. Her father's reserved, effete manners had long been a sore spot of hers. Whereas her uncle Prince Vahagn with his wicked, handsome smile and single sparkling eye was all fiery energy, her father Prince Narses had all the vivacity of a chilled boulder. Drab, plain, lethargic, cautious, and vacillating were all words that described Narses. So much so that it was commonly said in taverns that "men follow Prince Vahagn because they want to and follow Prince Narses because it's their duty."

"You look sour, Alina," a soft, warm voice informed her. The princess turned to face her best friend Zelda. Properly speaking, her name was Lady Enzdela Pahlavuni, Countess of Nakhchivan and Absheron, but Alina had never called her by those tedious names. She had always just been small, pretty Zelda, with messy, snow-colored hair, light blue eyes tending towards grey, and a singing voice sweeter than shaved ice doused in honey. "What's on your mind? Aren't you happy to see Imeda?" she inquired a bit more quietly, leaning close enough to peck Alina's cheek.

"I'm fine," Alina grumbled, "I just didn't get much sleep last night and it's showing in my mood." She pursed her lips into a stubborn pout and distracted herself with brushing a few stray tresses of raven hair from her sable-fur cloak. "Liar," Bedisa snickered, "You slept like a rock. I heard you snoring." Alina glared daggers at the youngest of her ladies, causing the short, full-bodied red-head to cackle still harder. "I do not snore," she replied huffily, "That's you if anything, Beda, and loud enough to wake half the palace. I thought we had a thunderstorm rolling through the glens last night." Bedisa blinked several times and then turned to Zelda. "That's not true, is it?" she asked a bit too loudly.

Zelda smiled sweetly with her pink lips, an obvious attempt to hide the braces that still embarrassed her from time to time. "Oh, no! The two of you aren't roping me into this dispute," she replied diplomatically. "I second that motion," Romina sighed grumpily, preempting any appeals, "Honestly. Quarreling like this before a diplomatic function. You two should know better." Romina Nymphidia Murena, the eldest of their number, stood tall and regal, her profusion of dusk-colored hair bound neatly beneath a hairnet embellished with purple sapphires. As usual, she was the most presentable and refined of them. Bedisa looked visibly dismayed. Bedisa discreetly poked her tongue out at the older girl, eliciting the ghost of a laugh from Alina and yet another smile from Zelda.

"We're still waiting for the go-ahead from the Trekan ambassador," Alina heard her father say to the commander who nodded gruffly, "All the same, I trust you'll see my daughter and her ladies safely to Portown? They're an adventurous group, to be sure, but good girls. And I know they'll make me proud." The old, grizzled soldier saluted rigidly. "It'd be my honor, Your Highness," he barked. "I'm sure it will be," her uncle chortled, tossing one well-muscled arm around Imeda "Won't it, boy?" A few of the soldiers gave a merry laugh, broadening the prince's wolfish grin. Imeda's already red face grew a bit redder, and Alina could feel herself blushing as well.

Her father allowed both the soldiers and her a tender smile before ambling back towards the palace. "Well, there's no sense in waiting out in the cold," he said at last, glancing back at them, "Let's warm our hands by the fire and give our Trekan friend a feast before we hear his answer." Her uncle ran up to her father jostling his shoulders a bit. "When is the ambassador getting here anyhow?" he inquired whimsically, "And is he bringing his wife?" This second question evoked a few more guffaws from the soldiers, who were well acquainted to the younger prince's womanizing and indiscretions. "I expect him later this evening," Prince Mehr stated carefully, "If the Trekans will have our help, my daughter departs tomorrow. If not, then we'll discuss a few matters and let him go on his way - back to Zemirgrad. As for your other question, I'm not so sure. I do know he'll want his pistol on him with you around though."

The cheer was exuberant. It was rare for Alina's father to joke, and, whenever he did, people tended to laugh, even when the joke was bad. Especially when the joke was bad. They shuffled through the snow to the palace complex, making good time and chattering among themselves about sledding, boxing, and the upcoming autumn festival. The whole time Alina felt a pair of big, amber eyes following her and that made her feel warm and giddy. Imeda was back, after three years. Imeda was back, tall, handsome, and strapping in the uniform he had earned. How could she not be happy?

Watching and listening to the news about the latest disaster in Treka and Chuuckango gave me an idea, an idea that I think is full of hope and promise. As the King of Arells I decree that we must have an organization dedicated to providing aid other nations in these kind of conditions. Arells will fully fund the creation and maintenance of such an organization but I do hope that other like-minded nations and people will join me in this pursuit. #internationaid #treka #chuuckango #sowester #arells #kingdavid #royaldecree

Very Conservative Ambassador Bruce “Big B“ Hutchinson walked into the meeting room unaccompanied. He wiped some snow off his coat without even thinking, the cold weather normally wouldn’t bother him being from Treka, but something about the weather was uncomfortable to him. He took off his coat and hung it up along with his “Worcester Anglers, Trekan Baseball League Champions, 2018” cap. A fierce sports fan, unlike other politicians in other countries, he’d support his teams any day, even if he had a meeting, especially after they’d won the championship game. He played College football and won the highest award possible in Trekan college football as a Linebacker for the Willis University Bobcats just 11 years earlier during his senior year. Because of this he was rather Bulky, but not fat. He walked up to the Greater Vanya officials and started introducing himself politely and calmly.

A frosty gust billowed through the expansive hall, making the flames dance luridly from the dozens of pits that had been piled with sweet-smelling spruce limbs. Despite the lightness of her robes, which left her shoulders and stomach exposed, Alina didn't feel the bite of the autumn storm that raged outside, pelting the palace's walls with chunks of ice and snow. The fires and the warmth of her companions' bodies actually made the hall a little too hot for her liking, but the conversation was merry and a hundred delicacies peaked up at her from gleaming, brass platters.

Dumplings stuffed snugly with cheese that had been taken from a cow's udder as milk just that morning and freshly churned butter floated past her, and, before long, her mouth was watering. Next came a platter of plump green olives with the pits arranged in the tortured cross of the Gza faith. There were loaves of warm bread, encrusted with garlic, cheese, and walnuts, and grape leaves concealing rich fillings of dill, coriander, tarragon. There were sizzling heaps of potatoes, fried to a rich golden brown and seeping with a cream-based sauce popular in the adjoining region of Imereti and robust salads of tossed cucumbers and baby tomatoes sprinkled with liberal helpings of flat parsley and kebabs of lamb grilled with rosemary over a stone furnace, fresh-picked tomatoes sprinkled in blue cheese, and roasted garlic that melted in the mouth.

Across the room, seated next to her father, her younger brother, Aram, was popping dumplings into his mouth at a frightful pace and licking his handsome lips appreciatively. No doubt his hike up to the palace had left him famished. Alina tried and failed to conceal her smile. He might be shy, awkward, bumbling, and pudgy, but he had always been sweet, even as a toddler, and she was nothing if not a doting sister. She made a mental note to drag him into the frenzied dancing that would no doubt follow the feast. Zelda, while a poor dancer herself, was usually kind enough to give him a dance or two even if the thought mortified Romina. That Aram was smitten with Zelda certainly didn't hurt matters, though everyone knew that nothing would come of his childlike crush.

"Your grandfather is absent," Romina observed, perching herself beside Alina on the couch, "Is he still sick?" Alina nodded, adopting a worried expression. "The doctors say the fever hasn't broken in three days," she related quietly, "They're keeping a priest on call, but my father and uncle remain confident of his recovery. And so do I." Romina squeezed her hand. "I know he'll recover," she offered, "You Bessarions are hard to kill, even for a god like Nerali."

"We've been going down to the grove to pray each morning," Zelda chimed in, "Vanya willing, the Grand Prince'll be fit as a fiddle in no time." Alina smiled again, feeling a slight blush creep into her cheek as she did so. Her friends, even stuffy, uptight Romina and lazy, care-free Beda, never ceased to make her feel loved. She reached down and grasped each of their hands. "Where is Beda?" she asked, "It's not like her to be late to a feast." Romina rolled her eyes. "She's probably laying siege to the kitchen, the little savage."

"That's a possibility," Zelda agreed sheepishly, her soft smile exposing the gleam of her brace. "Well, as long as she arrives before the ambassador," Alina said, shrugging her shoulders. "Do either of you know much about him? I only got the latest gossip from the servants' quarter. Apparently he likes sports caps and beer."

"All Trekans like beer," Romina japed, "It's rather like them, crass and unrefined." Alina giggled softly, hiding her face behind her hand. "Oh, I'm certain our guest of honor won't be so dull as all that," Zelda objected. "Defending the honor of your future husband, Zelda?" Alina teased, elbowing her friend gently in the ribs. "N-no!" Zelda stammered, "Besides, I hear he's already married and that his wife is as beautiful as Runa herself. I think I'll go fetch Beda now. It's getting a little late."

"I bet you this pair of earrings she's storming the pantry," Alina chortled. "I bet my slippers she's had a dress mishap," Romina replied, "The poor thing has never had nimble fingers." Alina's eyes narrowed. "You'd know all about nimble fingers, huh?" she inquired wickedly, "I saw you with Gela Surmelian earlier." Romina blinked. "You have no respect for the concept of privacy, do you?" she hissed, pinching her lightly. "Ouch," Alina griped, rubbing her arm, "I just wanted to ask you what holding his hand was like. Are you actually considering him as a match?"

The question elicited a deep sigh. "Absolutely not," Romina replied wearily, "His station is too low. My father would be livid at even the suggestion of such a match. It's completely out of the question." Alina pouted, pursing her lips in contemplation. "I wouldn't rule him out as easy as all that," she counseled her friend, "His military career doesn't exactly make him a slouch and he's quite dashing in a roguish, 'my father's a gondolier' sort of way." Romina rolled her eyes. "Yes, he's very handsome," she allowed, "And madly in love with me to boot, but it's not going to happen and I can't get my hopes up. It'd be irresponsible, especially with my sisters to think about. No more about it and swear on Vanya that you won't tell a soul about this."

"Not even Beda?" Alina laughed. "Especially not Beda," Romina scowled, "Half of Ani would know within the hour if you told her." The girls continued taking digs at each other and surveying the chamber, scarcely noticing when a servant set two brass goblets and a bottle of blackberry-flavored sweet wine in front of them.

Half the princely choir and ministers were in attendance, most of them chatting merrily with their spouses and friends. Her father, Prince Narses, was reclining languidly on his couch. His brow was furrowed, not surprising given his well-known and prominent dislike of large social gatherings. They tended to upset his claustrophobia. Beyond that, they took him away from his beloved library. Beside him was her brother, looking disheveled and sweaty. He caught a glimpse of her and waved happily, bringing yet another smile to her lips. The Foreign Minister Avtandil Baclacian was whispering into her father's ear and sipping from his goblet.

Her uncle, Prince Vahagn was seated on a couch near to her father's flirting unscrupulously with a servant girl who he had scooped into his lap. At that moment, he was pressing a grape leaf into her lips as she beamed and giggled happily. The one-eyed prince seemed to be wholly in his element and had drained his goblet twice in the past five minutes, all the while flirting with this or that woman and jostling the coterie of young, rowdy soldiers that had sprang up around him. Imeda numbered among them, though his behavior was more reserved and dignified. She though once or twice that she saw him staring across the room in her direction, but this might have been wishful thinking on her part.

When the ambassador finally arrived, the din of the room hushed some as servants brought up another couch next to that of the two princes. Before Alina could register who the man was, Prince Vahagn had brushed aside his female companion and leaped to his feet. His voice was thunderous and manful, with just an edge of sardonic humor. "Ah! At last, the man of the hour," he called out, clasping the ambassador on the shoulder, "Come, man, fill your belly with lamb and wine, and tell us what tidings you bring from Treka."

Grand Principality of the Greater Vanya.

(I’ll type using the unique words in a Boston accent like “wicked”, so basically how I talk anyways, but I won’t get rid of Rs and stuff cause it just looks weird, just imagine it.)
The Ambassador smiled and welcomed the greeting. “Sorry I’m a bit late, Portown Puffins lost to a minachia team today and I was watching the game.” He said, in a bit of an annoyed voice but not towards the Vanyans. He quickly changed his tone. “I assume we’ll discuss whatever you wanted to talk to me about at the Table, something about the storm and helping us I believe. Sorry if I sound confused, I’ve been caught up in Sports and Politics.” He sat down on the New Couch I guess and sat up straight. Clasping his hands he waited calmly.

City Hall, Maen, State of Bridgtenia, Treka

The Governor looked around, he had visited this exact spot before the the Evacuation. Rather than being a cozy place to hide out in during a storm, half the building had collapsed due to the failure of a Tall building to withstand the storm surge. Built in 1845, It was now a destroyed piece of history. Maen looked terrible. 1/3 of all buildings were destroyed by the Storm surge, hundreds died here. And every day they found new bodies... or body parts. The city was hit harder than any other City on the mainland. Plows were wading through the now only ankle deep water around the city to get rid of any snow, well, slush at this point. It was considered illegal to drive through the city unless you had snow chains on your tires or they had to be Studded Snow Tires until the roads were clear. The sight was rather unusual, especially for a day in early November. It looked liked February or March on the ground but it was Sunny and a comfortable 50°.

Prince Vahagn sprawled across the couch boldly, waving to the servant girl who had caught his eye earlier to fetch them a jug of sweet, black wine. His one good eye, dark and emotive, was twinkling wickedly in the dim light of the great hall. The girl scuttled back towards the kitchens and soon returned clutching two large jugs of wine, which she set before them before glancing away distractedly. "You can go, love," Vahagn said gruffly, shooing her away. "I'll find you later. A prince always keeps his promises."

Having settled that bit of business, Vahagn poured them each a full goblet. "I was told you were an avid sportsman," the prince said cordially, "But this is a pleasant surprise. I thought you'd offer a more boring excuse. Our ambassadors usually do." The prince took a deep draft from his goblet before lapsing into his easy, wolfish grin. "You should try the wine," he offered, "It's a bit sweet for my liking, but it'll warm you up and put hair on your chest. I keep lecturing my nephew on the finer details of drinking, but he has no stomach for it and his mother is over-protective. Almost sent me into exile twice."

"As for our business this evening," Vahagn continued, his expression growing more serious, "You've struck the mark more or less. My niece wanted permission to hold a fund-raiser for those affected by Winter Storm Burr. Our foreign minister, Baclacian, the dour little scamp, was good enough to warn us against stepping over your toes without it. Something about Trekan isolationism. I had something else I wanted to discuss as well, a matter that might be of mutual interest to both of us..."

Alina's dainty hands were balled into fists so tight that her knuckles were turning a ghastly tint of white. Not only had her uncle deigned to greet the ambassador and guest of honor before her father, but he'd been haughty enough to perch himself on the couch without abiding by the usual ceremonies, a grave violation of tradition and courtly etiquette. Only a man's wife, children, and sworn brothers could approach him without an invitation, and drinking wine set before a guest was an unthinkable taboo. Truthfully, the first insult stung her pride more than the second one, but it was the latter that had sent whispers echoing through the hall. Some were frenetic and excited - ladies gushing about how daring their prince was or soldiers trading japes and subdued bouts of laughter. Others were ominous and angry, like those that came croaking from the throats of the assembled clergy.

"What is he doing?" Romina fumed, aghast at the breach of hospitality. "Usurping my father," Alina replied coolly, rising to her feet and ambling towards the ambassador's couch. "Where are you going?" Romina called after her, "Surely, you can't-" Alina cut her off. "I'm going to remind my uncle of his station," the princess said stubbornly. She strolled across the room, acutely aware of how the glowing embers illuminated and darkened her exposed waist and belly. It made her feel almost naked, especially with the stares that followed her. She noticed her father squinting fearfully at her, and Aram's mouth hung agape, no longer gnawing on a shank of lamb roasted with rosemary and parsley, even as juices dripped down his two chins.

"Ambassador Hutchinson," Alina sang gaily, "I heard my uncle mention my project and I thought it would be childish of me not to ask for your blessing directly. May I and my ladies join you?" She allowed him a resplendent smile of the kind she reserved only for her dearest friends and curtsied with charming grace and humility, her raven hair tumbling over her shoulder as she did so. Prince Vahagn regarded her with a puzzled, somewhat annoyed expression, but held his tongue, realizing that he had no way of sending her away, unless the ambassador made that decision himself.

Ambassador Hutchinson listened to the Prince as he talked, smiling, unusual of a Vanyan to be so open like that but he didn’t care. He denied having any wine, as he wasn’t a big fan of the drink. When the Princesses walked up to him he smiled. “Hang on” he mentioned to the prince, turning his head to Alina he said: “of course you may, is this about the Aid? I assume it is so let me make some stuff clear first. Treka doesn’t like Foreign Aid, so if you’re doing this privately, it’s fine, otherwise the government wouldn’t accept it, we’d say Its just another storm we’ll live.
“I hope that’s clear enough for you, we’re, even myself, often a little arrogant.”

"Clear as crystal," Alina replied, her lips hinting at a smile, "I had something quite different in mind. If you'd be so kind, Mister Ambassador, my ladies and I would appreciate a bit of khachapuri and valari." She glanced meaningfully at the loafs of warmed bread stuffed with gooey cheese and the pale red wine that had been set on the tray next to his couch. She feverishly hoped he would not protest the basic ritual. Despite its strangeness to outsiders, it made perfect sense to the Vanya. At a feast, a person's couch was much the same as their home in ordinary life. It would be no less impolite to sit down without permission than it would be to barge into a closed, gated residence, and every host was expected to offer refreshments to his guests.

At that moment, Zelda glided elegantly into the hall, clutching Beda's hand in her own. The younger girl looked somewhat disheveled, her rosy hair a bit tangled, the flush of embarrassment making her cheeks ruddier than usual, but she still looked quite presentable, pretty even. As for Zelda, she had changed into a sky-blue kadhana, the traditional ceremonial dress, embellished by clouds and floral patterns that left her midriff and shoulders exposed. Her snowy hair hung down in a loose, fluttering ponytail that splashed down to the small of her back. A pang of jealousy thrashed about under Alina's breast before it was overwhelmed with love and delight. "Sister!" she called, waving her over happily.

The pair of girls turned towards them, with Zelda beaming so that her braces twinkled in the low light of the fire-pit. Beda looked grumpy and nervous, but acquiesced to being dragged towards the ambassador's couch. The red-head was dressed in a demur yellow dress that concealed most of her, as was deemed appropriate for girls under the age of fifteen. "It's too hot," Alina heard her griping to Zelda as she was pulled nearer. "That's what the fan I gave you is for," Zelda said patiently before curtsying to Hutchinson. "Well met, sir," Zelda declared happily, the perspiration dripping from her brow making her seem lovelier somehow, "I hope you will not object to us joining you and the prince. It would do the three of us a great honor. We really are quite famished."

As if in agreement, Beda's stomach rumbled loudly, drawing a couple stares. "Uh, me too..." she mumbled, giving an awkward curtsy of her own. Alina smiled, practically feeling Romina's eye roll from across the hall. The older girl had remained behind to ensure that their couch was not empty, and, after a few minutes of lonely, wistful looks, had amassed a couple gallant companions, mostly nobles and soldiers of Khargic Corusconian origin, who were chatting with her politely and teasing her with grapes which she repeatedly refused. She was as chaste and modest as ever, the absolute image of a Vanyo-Minachian noblewoman.

The ambassador nodded and smiled, “of course you are, I don’t see any reason why you can’t. You Vanyans are too polite.” he watched some of the commotion in the background going around before turning back to the prince and saying “you had a question for me didn’t you?”. To his sunrise His wife suddenly arrived, she had a rather expensive dress on that she always wore to any government outings, she was uh *thinks hard in a hurry to finish this* very pretty and had brown hair and brown eyes. He knew she’d be here just a little late but he didn’t think she’d be this early. He smiled and stood up. Greeting her and turning back towards the others in the couch and said “My wife was a little late my apologies”. She smiled and said “Nice to meet you all, my name is Anne if you didn’t know yet, how are you guys?” She casually said. Bruce on the other hand thought about the fundraiser tensed up at the sudden thought of having to ask the government to accept foreign aid, even though they had to because it was private, the nation’s own arrogance could get in the way.

Trekan Army Transport Ship HES Hugh Matthews off the coast of the state of Marcassetts-

The Sea whizzed by as the ship stormed towards the Heavily damaged port of Vinalhaven, a large city, In fact the largest on/in the island/state. The Trekan Military was finally able to work up enough supplies to send a small company of Marines to the island to help out. Over 3,000 had died on the island, the worst of any part of Treka, accounting for over half the total deaths of the country. This ship would be the first to arrive in the state. A particular soldier, Platoon Sergeant Joseph Hansen, would see some horrifying sights.

Hansen Walkes around, the company had sent his platoon off to access the damage in the southernmost tip of the state. After a long Boat ride and Truck ride, Hansen was exhausted. He sent his platoon off to start a search for missing survivors and went out in a different direction by himself. The ground was littered with tiny pieces of homes and other buildings. Everything was wet, the water had dried up a day before. With the completely clear skies above it look awfully unusual to him. Barely any houses still stood, being an island, in a few new homes, they weren’t able to get enough Pine wood and big enough pieces to supply the house building. So smaller pieces of weaker trees were used. But most homes were damaged rather than destroyed. Hansen knocked on the door of a roofless “New England colonial”, he walked in after a few unanswered knocks and searched the house. He entered the master bedroom and found a dead young couple who were hiding behind their bed, killed by a piece of the roof beam that collapsed and landed on them. He stopped in his tracks, He was horrified, but he knew he had to do his job and check if these two were recorded as dead. He did and he quickly continued on with his search. He walked past a police car that was actually blown into the home by the waves, but none of this meant anything, he couldn’t get the thought of the dead couple out of his head.

"Polite?" Alina asked with a smirk, "It was always my impression that the Corusconians and Minachians thought us wanton and frivolous. I'm sure it would gladden my grandfather's heart to hear you say otherwise." The princess sank onto the couch with an almost lackadaisical grace and let out a pleasant little yawn. Zelda and Beda swiftly joined her, the former sitting up straight and taking a small sip from a goblet of wine that had been poured a few seconds earlier, the latter slouching and scarfing down a bit of khachapuri on the edge of Bruce's plate. "You may proceed with your question, dear uncle," Alina said a bit too sweetly, nibbling on a piece of bread more to appease the requirements of ceremony than due to a genuine appetite.

The one-eyed prince scowled momentarily, but, after draining his goblet and holding it out for a refill, he seemed to have collected his thoughts. "My question concerned Arellian meddling in our sea-lanes," Vahagn said tersely, "Perhaps it would be better to discuss it at a more opportune time given the recent tragedy and our current delightful company. Have you ever skied, Ambassador?" The self-assured manner in which he asked the question vexed Alina, who did her best to conceal a sour expression. She was not a child anymore and was no less capable of treating with foreign dignitaries than him.

Anne's arrival broke the palpable tension between the princess and her uncle, to the relief of all. Vahagn was the first to speak, gracing her with a resplendent smile. "The wine is sweet, but not so sweet as the company, madame," he said. His one good eye was twinkling blackly. "It's just as my uncle says," Alina chirped, sliding over to make room for the ambassador's wife. "I pray we're well met," she added pleasantly.

Corusconian Ersatz-class battleship Tirpitz, 2 kilometres off the coast of the State of Bridgtenia, the United States of Treka.

The early morning hours of the 11 of November. The storm has been raging for days. Captain Langenderfer stands nervously om the bridge of the Tirpitz, having been caught in the storm while on patrol. He struggles to keep control of his ship, not wanting to make the call to the Großadmiral that he has lost one of the prides of the Kriegsmarine. His ship has begun to stray dangerously close to the coast, despite Langenderfer’s best efforts to keep her on the open sea.

A wave crashes into Tirpitz’s starboard side. Her decks are awash with water. She has started to develop a list to port. There is a large bank of rocks not 2 kilometres off her port side. ”Anything but this.” Langenderfer thinks. He knows that if he loses Tirpitz, his entire career will go with her.

What damage the mighty ship has suffered is unknown to Langenderfer. All he knows is that he must keep Tirpitz afloat at all costs. All of the crew are hunkered down so as to avoid unnecessary injuries, especially seeing as a quarter of the ship’s power has been cut, with the medical bay operating on emergency power.

Langenderfer decides to send out a distress signal.

“Captain Jaochim Langenderfer of the Corusconian Ersatz-class battleship Tirpitz. We are caught in a storm, approximately 2 kilometres off the coast of the Trekan state of Bridgtenia. Exact location is unknown. Extent of damage to the vessel is unknown. Send help immediately.”

The transmission is sent in English, German, and French.

Ambassador Hutchinson smiled at Alina when she mentioned how she was delighted to hear that he thought their cultural ceremonies were awfully polite. He and his wife sat down and the he replied to the Prince’s question. “Arellians are threatening your territorial waters? Well remember, Vanya is considered a friend of Treka, our Navy would gladly help assert dominance over the region and hey if your nation is willing to pay, one of our shipyards could build ships for you. I recommend and old small shipyard, they usually do the highest quality work. Treka is full of Generations of shipbuilders, we’d be happy to help with any ocean disputes you are dealing with.”

The ambassadors wife turned to the prince after he asked her a question and replied. “Nice to meet you” she says smiling charmingly if that’s the way to put it I guess. She added on it that “indeed we are well met, I assume my husband has mentioned me before.”

"An honest scrap would be one thing," Prince Vahagn tutted, "The Arellians do their fighting with pen and paper though. I was hoping that we could count on Corusconian and Trekan support at the coming conference. We mean to assert our traditional claims on fishing rights and commercial sea-lanes to the north. Doubtless, this would benefit Trekan seasonal fishermen as well." The look that adorned the prince's face was one of smug satisfaction, his full, pink lips twisting into a smile yet again. He swiftly drained another goblet, seemingly immune to Alina's frosty glare. He glanced back towards Anne as she exchanged niceties. "He has, though too often, the scoundrel!" the prince laughed, "Your reputation precedes you, madame."

"I could ask him for a dance," Zelda whispered, too low for the rest of the couch to hear. "The thought of my uncle putting his wandering hands on your waist curdles my stomach more than this conversation," Alina fumed, "No. There's no need for that. I'll just steer us back on course." The princess saw her uncle turning to address Anne and put one hand on the ambassador's shoulder. "I never did tell you how the fundraiser would work, did I, good ambassador?" she asked sweetly, tilting her head playfully.
