===Taipei, August 1986===
===A short retelling of the events that took place decades ago in Taiwan===
2nd August
The government of Taiwan has proposed once again in the Imperial Congress that Taiwan be given independence from the Empire, a request which, like all others before, fell on deaf ears. The local government decides to plan protests in Taipei and all other major cities on the island.
3rd August
Protests begin in Taipei, the protesters demand independence from the Empire. The local police force, which fell under the control of the Taiwanese local government, did not take any steps to stop the protests, despite the clear order from Edo. The following statement is sent by the governor of Taiwan to Edo: "Leave Taiwan alone!". The Kenpetai is sent to Taipei in the hopes of eliminating the ones organizing the riots.
4th August
By now, almost 3 million rioters have gathered in Taipei, and soon began storming the Imperial Palace of Taipei, killing all Amurrians that could not evacuate in time. The order to begin an invasion of Taiwan is given by the Shogun, with the approval of the Imperial Congress. The members of the House of Sina are safely evacuated from their houses in Taiwan to New Osaka.
The Imperial Army launches Operation "Overlord", planning multiple landings and air borne assaults against coastal cities. Military bases on the island enter into alert and begin pushing outwards, with the goal of surrounding Taipei.
5th-7th August
During these 3 days the Army deploys radio jammers, effectively cutting off the island's radio communication. This plunges parts of the Taiwanese Militia into anarchy, making them easier to eliminate. The Imperial Army is slowly closing in to Taipei.
8-18th August
Siege of Taipei:
- 8th August: The Imperial Army reaches the city. The Militia refuses to surrender. Artillery is brought and begins firing at the rebel positions.
- 9th August: The rebels fortify the outer buildings, launching wave attacks from them, halting any progress.
- 10th-14th August: Finally the outer perimeter of the city is breached, and all rebel soldiers in it are either killed or captured. The second phase of the attack begins. The Old Yamato battleships are called, they are expected to arrive in two days.
- 15th August: The Army calls air strikes on the main rebel hold outs, but half of the planes are shot down by rebel air defenses. A push for the Imperial Palace begins.
- 16th August: The Yamato battleships arrive, and by 12:00 begin the bombing of places presumed to be rebel hidings. Most of the city's buildings are leveled.
- 17th August: The final push for the Imperial Palace begins, the main rebel force is weakened and most of their soldiers surrender.
- 18th August: The Imperial Palace is retaken. The leaders of the rebellion commit suicide before the Imperial Army could reach them.
19th August
Peace is finally restored on the island, efforts to clear out all rebel forces still keep going, but projects to rebuild Taipei are also created. The main institutions of Taiwan are merged with their counterparts in mainland Amurria. All Taiwanese political parties are disbanded and forbidden.===These were dark times===
===May they never happen again===
After reading it, she remembered the current situation of the Empire: Taiwan was once again asking for independence, this time though maybe the Kenpetai will do their job and eliminate anyone who supports such ideals. Despite being a democratic person, Prime Minister Asano did not shy away from promoting or accepting harsher punishments for the enemies of the Empire, or those who wanted it's downfall, nor did she shy away from promoting ways to stop those persons from spreading their ideas, even if it meant their deaths. But she hopped it will not come to that, especially now when Taipei is one of the most advanced cities in the Empire.
