Normally, if a nation recognizes another nation, it sends some kind of diplomatic mission as a sign of good will and cooperation. Recognizing a new nation has diplomatic consequences, it could damage the recognizer's reputation, so it'd normally have interest in setting up a deal with you. That's why asking for recognition might not be a good plan, but adding in an embassy program (something that will get you international diplomatic ties and an entry in to the global community) might be.

I hope that I don't come off as demeaning or anything, and it is kind of hypocritical from my standpoint considering that I don't even have an embassy program myself, but I just thought that I could add in my two cents
