Prologue

October 4th, 2082
Caelum IV, Iravian Outer rim
10:46 pm planetary time

“I swear to god if this is some false alarm, you both are getting graveyard shifts for the rest of 2082.”
The 2 Sensors Officers looked at each other nervously as Major Markus limped through the crowded control center of Caelum IV’s sensor array division, kept awake through an ocean of coffee and an nearly endless reserve of annoyance towards his subordinates.
“Sir… for that to be the case, uuh, there would need to be a malfunction in our s-s-satellites.” The right hand officers stammers as he began to sweat profusely as Markus approached the pair.
“Alright Lieutenant…umm…”
He waves his hands in the air, a lackluster attempt to try to remember a name.
“Lieutenant Dirk, Sir.”
“Dirk, ah. As I was saying, what seems to be getting you in a panic tonight?”
“A gravity, uhm, fluctuation, sir.”
Markus sighs. “Lieutenant, this situation happens every week with you. I understand you… irrational fear with these fluctuations, but all you need to do is-”
“Plug in the reading into the database? We already did sir,” the left hand lieutenant gravely said, as she stared at her screen, “I made sure to remind Dirk to test our readings before calling you down. We got the real deal here, sir.”
Markus put his hands on the tops of the 2 officers chairs, leaning forwards.
“Well, why was this so important to call me down? All you need to do for an incoming celestial object is call the navy they’ll take-”
“It matches perfectly s-s-sir.”
“It matches what Dirk, you need to be more specifi-” Markus’s eyes widen with realization.
“... Put the readings on screen now. The reading from now on the right, the reading from october 2nd, 2081 on the left.”
Both readings popped onto the large screen in the middle of the control. They matched almost perfectly, except the new reading’s magnitude was more than 10 times larger.
The entire room stood still for a second, as everyone realized what this meant. Many had taken place in the ceremonies for the 1 year anniversary of the attack of their planet, the battle still fresh in everyone’s mind. Then, the room was filled with a whirlwind of panicked action and muffled yells.

Across the planets, sirens began to scream.

They had returned.

Caelum system,
11:21 pm planetary time

The Iravian defense fleet prepared itself for battle. Just a year ago, many of the same ships and men that crowded the void tonight had fought for Caelum’s safety. They remembered the lives lost, those who sacrificed themselves for the lives of others. But, they weren’t the same fleet from a year ago. They had rebuilt and grown stronger than ever before, massing hundreds of vessels to defend their families, their friends, their fellow countrymen. They had repelled the maladrom once, and they shall do it again. Spirits were high as they rushed to their positions.

Few worried. Fewer spoke to loved ones.

Soon, a black sphere formed far into the void. The vessels of the fleet grew silent, preparing for the fight to come. They weren’t ready when they first attacked, but now they would show these invaders why irav owned the stars.

A bright flash of light filled the space of Caelum, brighter than the star itself.

When the light faded, what once was empty space was now filled with a tide alien vessels. They moved like spectres, flying at the iravian fleet at all angles.

The fleet burst into action, yet were only able to let off 1 volley before the first ships were upon them.

On the planet below, as the people panicked in the streets, many stopped to watch the macabre lightshow in the night sky.

They watched in silence as Iravian ships were blown apart.

As the system's defenses so rigorously built up were washed aside.

As a white light consumed the sky, blinding all with its power.

Then nothing at all.

October 5th, 2082
Orbit of Caelum IV,
12:01 am, planetary time

As the planet cracked apart below and the debris of the system’s defenders drifted past, the alien fleet spent no time leaving the world. Their ships, unlike those of the attack a year ago, were covered in ornate carvings, detailing the legacy of their people, the worlds they had destroyed, the species they had exterminated. This world was nothing special. Just one rock in a endless expanse full of them.

As soon as they had arrived, they left, leaving only ruin and desolation in their wake.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All across terran space, rifts in space are detected in systems. Iravian, Atmoran, Timerian, Norian and Loracian worlds alike will soon find themselves thrust into a battle for survival.

Many will not survive the coming days, Fewer still shall emerge unscathed.

The war to come shall be unlike any other in human history. There will be no grand victory nor spoils of war. Instead, humanity shall fight tooth and nail to safeguard its survival and all that they had built.

This is the start of The Third Contact War.

Error Detected ---- Contact with Squadrons 2, 4, 5, 7,8,9,11 lost
"Shit shit shit shit shit!" a young Petty Officer whispered to himself, "Why does this nonsense happen when I'm on duty." He complained to himself. He got up from his seat and walked towards where his commanding officer was sleeping on a seat facing a blank monitor.
"Sir?" asked the young Petty officer.
A low ranking old Junior officer woke up and looked at the Petty officer with a tired expression "What is it?"
"Sir.. we've lost contact with the external patrols. They just disappeared.." the Petty officer said quickly.
"It's probably just a fukin malfunction or some shit Petty Officer Wexeley. Why're you bothering me about it? Go talk to the fukin engineer idiot." The Junior officer closed his eyes and waved the Petty officer off.
P.O Wexeley walked off, "That fucking guy is gonna get us all killed someday." He muttered to himself as he entered the elevator and stared out the window. He pushed the button to Level 4. He noticed something peculiar in the sky. It looked like a little swarm, and suddenly a bright blinding flash before he saw a wave of light quickly advancing upon the facility, he was filled with terror, before his life ended instantly, his feeble fleshly body, incinerated before the might of an all incinerating wave.

"Sir! The Planet it's...." Lieutenant Williams looked at his Commanding officer, who was already staring at his screen, showing him what had happened to Wecovia Prime.
"Yes..." the Captain turned around and looked at the Lieutenant. "I'm aware. We've got to strike those bastards back. The admiral has already transmitted orders to us."
The Captain pushed Williams out his way and walked into the bridge. "Order all hands to their posts!" He shouted. The alarm rang, and hundreds of men woke up and began to rush to their posts. The enemy fleet was upon them before they knew what was happening, Ships were split open like cans, terror rang out across what was left of the fleet, and ships quickly turned around, trying to escape their inevitable fate. Lieutenant Williams ran to an escape pod, panicked crew members were all around him. He used his Officer ID to unlock one and threw himself in. He pulled the launch lever, his pod blasted into space, but Williams forgot to close the door. His body was launched from the pod and Williams was splattered against the airlock door as his pod launched into space where it collided with a fleeing fighter.

UFSC Academy, Mangala, Sol System
06:51 hours

’’Admirals!’’ an ear-deafening voice yelled through the enormous room. On the balcony stood president Donovan overlooking hundreds of United Forces admirals and generals who were sitting down below. Each one of them graduated as a straight A student from the academy and who could read the battlefield like an open book. In no-time these beings would unleash the full Iravian military arsenal to avenge the fallen soldiers at Caelum Iravia.

’’Yesterday a terrible tragedy has unfolded at the Battle of Caelum Iravia. The Maladrom have massacred the system and destroyed our fleet. Leaving more than 2,7 billion casualties in their wake, including 230.000 of our finest soldiers.’’ The Iravian president said as 230.000 uniform badges belonging to the fallen soldiers at Caelum were carried into the room and dumped right in the middle of the enormous chamber.

Within seconds all hundreds pairs of eyes were focussed on the pile of badges that had grown to a few meters tall by now. However president Donovan was quick to speak again.

’’Each badge stands for one fallen soldier. One soul that against all odds stood against the unstoppable Maladrom offensive. This battle however is not the end of this war, in fact it is only the beginning. We won’t think about settling down until we’ve put everyone responsible below the dirt.

Do you need more men? You will get it.

You need more resources? You too will get those.

Do you need more ships and equipment? You shall get those too.

No expense and no sweat shall be spared in our war effort. Plan your operations as if you have double the resources and waste these resources instead of your men. Execute your plans as if you don’t have a rulebook and do the unthinkable. You are the very best Irav has to offer. So show the universe what we’re made off.’’
The president said in an ecstatic voice, which was met by a thunderous applause by his admirals down below.

October 5th, 2082
Task Force Avenger, Sector IV, Iravian Space
13:46 hours

Task Force ‘Avenger’ under the command of distinguished admiral Tausol was among the first formations to get a taste of the action. Admiral Tausol had positioned his task force in the outer rim territories of sector IV, where there were no major population centers nearby. But that didn’t mean that the Maladrom would see the same.

’’Commanders. I trust all of your computers are up and running?’’ Admiral Tausol said from his flagship, the supercarrier UFSC Hephaestus.

’’Up and running admiral.’’

‘’They are all yours admiral.’’

‘’Completely operational sir.’’
The news was from his commanders.

The plan was not as straightforward and not without risk. The computers aboard the ships were working overtime to simulate a planet with several billion lifeforms to attract the attention of the Maladrom. This was paired with increased radio activity to simulate the radio traffic on a planet, without any planet actually being present. Now that the trap was set the Iravian fleet just had to sit tight while backup would lay in wait.

10:45 P.M.

Commander Mercedes Martínez woke up unable to sleep. She slipped into her clothes and stepped outside. The base was located 90 miles from Infinity but you could still see the light from the city in the sky. She sat outside her house on base and just across from her was one of her young officers.

"Captain Foster, what are you doing out here?"

"Good evening General... I couldn't sleep much tonight." Captain Foster smiled.

"Yea same. It's a shame what this job will do to you."

As they sat outside for a moment to chat about Foster's family and advice Martínez could give Foster, their phones rang. The Council had been summoned immediately and notified of the Maladrom attack. They rushed to get their uniforms on as cars and military jeeps pulled into their front yards. The Officers Plaza was wide awake and as Martínez looked over the rest of the base was up and running. They jumped into their escorts and down to their command post.

Niverston, Numa System
Numa Defense Fleet
October 5th, 2082
10:09 P.M.

The Maladrom ships swarmed into the Numa System spreading havoc throughout the defense network. The defense fleet engaged the Maladrom fleet on the outskirts of the asteroid belt. Their main objective was to hold the line while NORIA ships worked to evacuate civilians. The Defense Fleet was no match for the Maladrom fleet as they cleared a path toward Niverston. With no other choice, Admiral Levi Michel split his forces to buy time for the civilians ships.

"Jonathan get central command over comms now!" The ships AI established a comms link with General Martínez.

"Ma'am, Maladrom forces are closing in too fast we can't hold them back much longer."

"Admiral Michel we've been briefed on your situation. We're ordering you to retreat and regroup with Task Force Vudu. Hold the position as long as you can but we can't afford to lose a single Ryuu at this stage in the war." General Martínez sent the proper coordinates and flight paths to regroup.

"We won't be able to evacuate the planet in time... There's still almost 1 billion citizens, including our troop numbers."

"Admiral we never had time! Your orders are to retreat and regroup with Task Force Vudu... Escort civilians ships to Maelea and dock at the NORIA Station and receive further commands from Admiral Ngata."

Admiral Levi followed his orders and established a barrier between Niverston and the Maladrom fleet. The ships from the Numa Defense fleet had been wiped out and Admiral Levi's NORIA task force was the last line of defense. As they charged head on to the Maldarom fleet Admiral Levi waited for the signal. From the Astroid belt, hundreds of strikecraft flooded out to ambush the Maladrom fleet. Just as the Maladrom fleet was going to engage Admiral Levi he initiated a fleet-wide Solar Jump, positioning them behind the Maladrom fleet. They opened fire on the fleet as the Orbital Defense Network around Niverston engaged the fleet as well. For a brief second Admiral Levi's plan was working, the fleet had destroyed enemy ships and was on the offensive. The Maladrom fleet was quick to respond with force. As the Maladrom fleet focused in on Levi's task force it was clear who's fleet was more powerful. The Maladrom ships were able to make quick work of ships twice their size.

"Sir we're losing ships at an astounding rate. These weapons aren't like anything I've seen before our ships can't withstand this kind of damage for long."

"Jonathan order the fleet to-" a bright light flashed over the bridge and the entire crew paused for a moment.

"Jonathan, what the hell was that?" Admiral Levi turned back to his control panel

"The entire orbital defense network. The planet is defenseless and we're now critically overwhelmed. No viable combat solutions available."

"I know Jonathan... Order the retreat. I want everyone running dark and following this jump path from HQ, we don't want them following us."

"Sir Gate 4 is down and we still have civilians evacuating." Admiral Levi had enough problems but this just added fuel to the fire.

Admiral Levi put out a request for a SF team to accept the mission. Without hesitation Samurai Team 210 accepted the mission and were headed to the docks to deploy. Admiral Levi headed down to shake hands with the entire team as they boarded their transport.

"Do you guys know what kind of mission this is?" Admiral Levi looked at the young team as they all settled into their seats.

"We know this war can't be won without sacrifice. Admiral we're ready to make the first." as Samurai Nolan boarded the transport he turned to Admiral Levi "Timeria Forever."

Admiral Levi watched as the doors closed and the transport disappeared into the launch deck. '"Timeria forever." he whispered as he watched the transport leave the ship.

"Jonathan sound the retreat."

The team watched as the fleet disengaged from combat. The stealth transport moved into position as the Maladrom fleet closed in on Niverston. The light blinded everyone on board as they covered their eyes waiting for it to fade. As the team readjusted to the light, they looked out to see Niverston destroyed, ripped apart by the Maladrom weaponry.

"Savages... They can't be anything like us." They had never seen destruction on this scale. Niverston had been under evacuation but there was no way the fleet managed to evacuate half the population in time.

"Approaching Gate 4 prepare to dock." The team stacked up and breached the Gate's control room. They fanned out and searched for any signs of the crew.

"Nolan... Look!" the crew's evacuation pods had been used and the wormhole shut down.

"Cowards... They bugged out while there were still civilians trying to flee." The Samurai team went to work to get the gate up and running. As soon as the wormhole was back open the Maladrom fleet would swarm onto their position.

"Wormhole ready." Hill waited for the signal.

"Initiate Wormhole to Lua System." Gate 4 fired back to life as the civilian ships started to pour in. With the activity going on at Gate 4 it didn't take long for the Maladrom Fleet to respond. Maladrom ships were closing in on the station faster than the civilians could evacuate.

"Nolan what are we going to do?" Hill stared at him as the team waited for a response.

"Get to the Gates hanger, there should be Manta IIs." Nolan handed his dog tags to Hill and headed to the hanger.

As Nolan got into the Manta he linked his AI with the central command console. As the plane departed the hanger Nolan could see the extent of damage the Maladrom had caused. Refocusing Nolan spotted 2 frigates firing on Civilian ships. He quickly swept in to escort the civilian ships. Engaging with Hydra missiles Nolan managed to force the frigates to disengage and opened up a clear path for civilian ships. As Nolan bought time for them to evacuate more Maladrom ships moved into position.

"Nolan all ships are clear-" Nolan watched as the Maladrom ships destroyed Gate 4 before Hill could finish. Nolan evaded the Maladrom ships but before long his Manta II was destroyed and the Maladrom fleet secured the entire system.

"Last night Maladrom forces pushed into the Numa system where TACT forces were forced to retreat. Multiple sources confirm the destruction of Niverston, Aurora, and all orbital habitat stations in the system. Total casualties are estimated to be well over 600 million in the Lua System alone while an estimated 200 million managed to evacuate before we were forced to retreat. The Numa Defense Fleet was faced with total destruction, aside from 4 heavily damaged destroyers. Cost well over 2 trillion Beans." The Defense press conference was nothing like the media expected. Many of them sat in shock as General Martínez read off the casualty reports.

"What are our forces doing? Why did NORIA retreat if there were still people trying to evacuate?" A lone report was standing in the crowd.

"Our forces were quickly overwhelmed and forced to retreat. Maladrom forces had cut our numbers down a third before Admiral Levi ordered the retreat. This is a force like nothing we have ever seen. "

Conner City, United States of Conner
October 5th, 2082

"... and I can happily report that all sections of the economy continue to run like a well-oiled machine. Again, I cannot express how grateful I am for these Senators who helped work the latest Omnibus bill through Congress. You have served your nation well. That's all for today, ladies and gentlemen. Have a good day."

The press calmly packed their stuff up as James Villius strode to stage right and exited Press Room 4A through a small door. Immediately flanked by his security detail, he was just about to ask what meeting came next when two senior members of his Cabinet came around the corner with rushed looks on their faces. Villius began a greeting but was cut off, a breach of decorum around the chief executive.

"Sir, we need to get to a situation room, now."

His security detail, clearly getting chatter on their earpieces, immediately complied. Villius was almost swept up in the tide of large suits that began to move with purpose down the hallway. Villius would find the irony of one of humanity's most powerful figures being moved like this if he weren't so confused.

As the group rounded the corner, Villius could just make out a pair of reporters rushing out of the press room after them, before they were cut off by another pair of large men in black suits.

As Villius and his posse entered a massive elevator with no buttons, the President of the United States of Conner finally got to ask a question.

"What the hell is going on here?"

The Secretary of Defense, Homer Foryn, was the first to speak. "Mr. President, not too long ago, we got confirmation that the Maladrom had attacked and destroyed the Iravian system of Caelum. Destroyed, as in with planet-killers. We haven't seen any incursions into Connerian territory yet, but it may only be a matter of time. So far, no human force has managed to stop one of their incursions."

The other man of importance in the elevator, Commander of the Fleet Boris Whiteclaw, spoke up. "Sir, we have a full briefing prepared for you downstairs."

Neither of them knew what they were getting into with the President. Villius was a retired Fleet Marshal and had spent his fair share of time in space. Before he had moved to a bureaucratic position at Colonial Affairs, he had certainly dealt with extraterrestrials - a dated term itself given how widespread humanity was among the stars. Despite that, he had also run on a platform of cutting military expenditure to fuel economic growth, a policy that had, until now, been working almost perfectly.

As if he could hear the thoughts of his two subordinates, Villius stated, matter of factly, "I know we haven't always been on the same page with regards to priorities in this administration, but I know the Maladrom. We're going to do what we have to do. Markets don't mean much if we're all dead."

Not a minute later, the group entered the secure room, buried deep underneath the Capitol Building. Villius's first words after sitting and reading the briefing were "Get me Donovan. Now."

Following the attack on the Numa system cooperative forces scrambled to take up positions. They had watched the Numa system be destroyed without much of a fight, within a few hours the system's planets were destroyed. The civilian causalities also started a mass scare as people feared a Maladrom attack at any moment. It seemed as if cooperative had already been defeated. Princess Caroline has been seen in public the most following the attacks. She has traveled to the Lua system were many have fled from the Numa system as they seek shelter from the Maladrom. Princess Carolina has been active across media platforms spreading the word on what's going on in the Lua System. The Sangheili have also sent a caravan of supplies to the Lua system which is expected to arrive in the coming days.

Janus, Aquarii System
Camp Starfall
October 7th, 2082
10:00 A.M.

Camp Starfall was home to 48,254 Loric people which had fled from the Maladrom. This was a temporary processing camp before they were introduced into the cooperative. The camps were set up to be accommodating as they could spend a few years there before being approved to live in the general population. Today was a little different, those who had information on the Maladrom were called to the assembly room. They had been given folders with their information and a color code.

"Good morning, I'm glad that you all are here today. As you know we are currently at war with the Maladrom and we need your help if we are going to defeat them. On your folders are color codes, white will report to Captain Naomi Bourdeaux in room one. Green will report to Captain Oliver Vise in room 2 and Blue will report to Captain Kelsey Graham." As the room cleared there were still 3 colors left. As they looked around the doors opened and a few soldiers stormed in.

"Gold if you could please take a seat in the front, the rest of you may leave." General Haley Gourdeau placed the microphone on the podium and moved down to the front where the rest of the soldiers had gathered. Beside General Gourdeau was Samurai Corlina Mawu, she led Samurai Team Wizard which was one of the most elite.

"You all have been called her today because of your experience in combating the Maladrom."

The Gold members had all be identified as Garde, a special class of warriors raised to defend their home. The original idea was thought up by Mawu, who had also been working as a spy within the camp to help identify members. They seemed a bit shocked as they were all gathered together again. The Loric people had tried to hide them amongst the population as there was much trust between the two yet.

"Like you I was also raised to be a warrior. That's one of the reasons I accepted this mission, I thought that I could gain your trust faster." The Garde seemed to be a little agitated. Mawu had secretly been installed into the Loric community at Camp Starfall as a Family Counselor.

"The reason you've been called on today is to act as advisors, Operation Hidden Lilly has been approved by the council and time is running out."

Operation Hidden Lily was a bold and daring mission to rescue 7,230 civilians trapped on Orbital Habitat Mombasa; which was heavily damaged and trapped in the Numa system. The Garde had been gathered to help formulate a combat solution using their knowledge of the Maladrom and what was available from the engagement in Numa. The had been running out of time and the council was desperately seeking solutions. The people of installation Mombasa had managed to send out a short encrypted message before all communication with the system was cut.

Maelea, Lua System
Cardinal Fortress
October 8th, 2082
09:30 P.M.

"So we are we going to recapture the Numa?" Admiral Michel sat at his desk as the Council shifte3d awkwardly.

"Admiral there are currently no plans to retake the Numa System. You are to post at Lua until further orders are given."

Admiral Michel was a bit shocked as he heard the news for the first time.

"Ma'am are we just going to wait and have them attack us again. We have to stop them."

"No Admiral, we don't have the capability to stop them. All we're doing now is buying time." General Martínez sent over the new structure and patrol for Admiral Michel and his fleet.

"What exactly are we buying time for? Because I don't see us having much time if we just sit here and wait for them to attack."

"That is all Admiral. We'll be in touch." With that General Martínez ended the conference call.

Admiral Michel tossed everything off of his desk and leaned back into his chair. As he leaned back into his chair he could feel the tears coming on. He buried his into his arms and laid his head on the best. Following the news of the destruction of Niverston he felt the weight of the 600 million casualties fall onto his shoulders. As he sat there he began to sob uncontrollably before he felt a hand on his shoulder. His wife, Rosena rubbed his back and he cried in her arms for a while. Admiral Michel had never expected something like this when he joined NORIA.

"Let's go." His wife stood him up and wiped his face.

"I can't ... For what, all is lost." He sat back down in his chair, defeated.

"I want to show you something ... It's important."

Admiral Michel didn't argue much more and they headed outside. The base was like a circus, troops running around while the skies above were flooded with aircraft. The two stepped onto a VTOL and headed North about 45 minutes to the city of Kisa. As the VTOL flew over the city Admiral Levi noticed something, he had no idea how they manged to expended it so much within a few days. On the outskirts of the city was a massive refugee camp.

"What's going on?" he asked as he peered outside the window.

"Camp Alcea. Home to 200 million Numians that managed to escape the Numa System. Princess Carolina provided a lot of the funding and this was just built over the last few days. If you look over to the left you'll see they're still expanding."

Admiral Levi looked over as Rosena pointed to the other side of the window. As he looked he tried to focus in on the edge of the camp he became a bit confused.

"If you're looking for the end you won't find it... It stretches from the Upper West District all the way to the Athacona River."

Admiral Michel quickly stood up as the VTOL landed at the camp. He was the first off as he stepped outside into the rain.

"Honey it's raining." Rosena ran outside with her umbrella to cover her husband.

"Sir! How about a little hand in the back." Cpl. Bengal unloaded MREs from the back as more soldiers and workers came to help. Admiral Michel headed over in the rain and started to unload boxes of MREs. It had been almost 15 years since Admiral Michel had done any real manual labor. The boxes were a bit heavy as he struggled to hand them off.

"Admiral Michel?" One of the soldiers at the camp was helping the crew when he noticed Admiral Michel. Michel looked up as he handed another box off.

"Corporal... Bengal." he struggled to make out the name on his uniform as it was one of the dirtiest he'd ever seen. As he looked around he noticed that the other uniforms were also in horrible shape.

"Yes sir... NORIA Sage, Mech Company Delta Romeo. We've been stationed here for the past few days supporting Camp Alcea."

"A mech company?"

"Yes sir. Our mechs are down in the Western Quarter. Past few days have been pretty tough but sir I want to thank you. Without you and Samurai Team 210 my family wouldn't have made it out. Whenever you're ready to roll out sir I'll be there with you." Cpl. Bengal took a box and headed into the Clinic.

Rosena and Admiral Levi then walked around the Camp. While walking around Admiral Michel was thanked continuously at every stop. Before Admiral Michel knew it 2 hours had past and they had yet to crack the surface of the massive Camp. His phone quickly threw him back into reality. As he looked onto the screen he wiped his eyes.

"Princess Carolina?"

"Admiral Michel... I hear that you've come to Camp Alcea?"

"Yes your Highness. My wife and I have been here a few hours now. It is really something great what you built." Princess Carolina shook here head and stood up.

"What we built admiral... If you wouldn't mind I'd like to meet with you." Admiral Michel was a bit confused and still dazed.

"Of course... Where would you like to meet."

"Alice Lowe building."

Without delay, the pair headed to the building where Princess Carolina was waiting with a sword in hand.

"Come and Kneel before me." Princess Carolina stepped forwards.

Admiral Michel slowly let go of his wife's hand and stepped forward as a crowd had gathered. Following orders, he stepped to the front of the building kneeling before his princess. As she lifted the sword she began the knighting process. The crowd watched in silence as the Princess went through the process as the rain fell on them both.

Admiral Michel looked around him as Princess Carolina stood over him int he rain. He could see the faces of the people looking into the crowd he spotted Cpl. President Donovan sat in the situation control room with his Chiefs of Staff. All around the president and his immediate supporting staff were flashing and moving holographs, showing different sectors being monitored all over the federation. Right in front of president Donovan was an enormous holographic map that showed the front lines of the war, a line that as of now was going straight through the outer colonies of Sector VIII.

’’Mister President, we’ve got a direct line with Conner City. President Vilnius of the United States of Conner needs a word with you.’’ An aide said as the call came through.

’’I want him on the screen, right now.’’ The president replied. It was a very unusual event, since the Connerians and the Iravians have been bitter enemies for the past four decades. Having only helped each other out occasionally during the Second Contact War. But dire times called for dire actions after all.

The second president Vilnius was put through to president Donovan and he tried to introduce himself everything went downhill. An alarm could be heard in the background as the Iravian personnel began frantically typing and swiping holographic images left and right.

President Donovan began looking concerned at the sight of all of these events unfolding right in front of him. He looked at his Secretary of Defense Hans Braspennink to figure out what was going on exactly, at the same time one of his aides stepped up from his holographic image of the outer rim territories. ’’Mister President. All lines of communications to Avlue, Brehlis, Itresteel, Ihoays, Zuyaad, and Nualtacs have been jammed. We’re fearing a massive Maladrom attack.’’.

The room went quiet for a moment as the Secretary of Defense and the Federation President exchanged eye-contact with each other.

’’Mr. Vilnius are you seeing this? We have lost contact with six of our outermost systems, which we expect to be a massive Maladrom attack. The United Forces are preparing to assist, if you have any available assets that could help us we would be eternally grateful.’’ President Donovan said as his aides around him were busy coordinating a rapid response to the situation. Maybe there was a chance that they could be stopped before things got out of hand.
