Danceria wrote:Hall of the White Throne
Standing to return the bow, his right palm over his heart, he recited. "Beloved Guests." he began. "May the Valar grant you length of days, length of worth, length of wisdom, and length of mirth; long and well may you stay in these halls!" the audience cried out "hear-hear!" as if any would dare throw out an esteemed guest of the High King of Danceria. Though the gossip and chattering would begin as Aceus would approach the Grand Vizier, first to let him sit at his left side. The third most prestigious place at the table, aside from the right (which was reserved for the Emperor of Lotharia, and leader of the Monarchist Treaty Organization), and the head of the table itself. "Dear Vizier, and Princesses and Prince...Fara." Aceus could hardly hold back a beaming smile. "It's been too long! How have things been in the distant land of Kyrenaia? Is the Sultaness in good health?" The burly blond would clear his throat. "Right right, they'll get the bread and salt shortly. Gentleman and Lady," Aceus would address Prince Karim and Princess Dschamilla "This is Lord-Chancellor Snow Villiers, Count of Oerba-Bresha. We were at the Grand Ball in Utica, celebrating the 45th year of Her Majesty the Sultana's ascension." The Lord Chancellor, a bear of a man returned a sunny grin and extended his hand as well. "Pleasure to meet ya."
Bread and salt would be passed around, a ceremonial prelude to the tea and appetizers. Those who partook in the bread and salt were under the protection of the host, and were bound by Old Law to not fight within the halls without permission. The Duke of Knessniet would be seated slightly downwards to the left of Aceus, not out of disrespect, but due to the unfamiliarity of the Knessian in Dancerian territory.

Kyrenaia wrote:If he was honest, the Grand Vizier was slightly surprised at being seated right next to their host, well aware, that it was a very prestigious position. It was a pleasant surprise, though, as were the polite greetings and introductions.
Before sitting down, the Grand Vizier bowed his head to Villiers, smiling slightly.
"I indeed remember you, Lord-Chancellor. Crown-Prince Ilia spoke highly of you.", he said and remained standing for a moment. "The pleasure is all ours." He let a beat pass. "Please allow me to introduce the rest of my party. First of all, this lovely young lady is my own date, Princess Dschamilla bint-Fadi." The strict Princess nodded politely. Her main job here was to make sure that someone attended to the Grand Vizier when he was overextending himself again. "The young fellow is Prince Karim ibn-Fadi, a promising young man actually on his first trip abroad." Karim bowed his head, blushing lightly. Fara put a hand onto his shoulder, actually the furthest away from the King. "And I believe, that Princess Fara bint-Dardan requires little to no introduction."
He sat down and smiled as Fara replied to Aceus' beaming smile with one of her own. She liked him, but she was not yet sure, how far this went or would go.
Ah, young love..., he thought to himself.
Taking the bread and salt, he nodded politely, well aware of what the gesture meant. There was something similar in Kyrenaia, only involving the tea ceremony, which was almost as holy as this gesture of bread and salt seemed.
"To answer your questions, Young King, the Sultana is well, as is the Sultanate.", he said, meaning 'Young King' as a mark of respect, not as an insult. He as an old man could allow himself that indulgence. There were days, when he even called Razia 'Young Sultana'. "She sends her best regards, compliments and best wishes." He sighed. "Sadly, we recently had a huge loss. Ilkhan Aaron, the Ilkhan of Sarepta, passed away a few months ago, his wisdom already being missed... but, on to brighter topics. How is Danceria? And, more importantly, how are you?"

Danceria wrote:"Parks being maintained, Olympics are in a few months..." Aceus smiles. "I am well, just got back from a few diplomatic summits, and I think I've gotten used to ruling." Aceus would nod at the Vizier. "I'm sure with your experience, you know how rough starting out is..."

Kyrenaia wrote:"Indeed I do, although one should add, that my experiences in that regard are a bit further in the past then yours.", al-Zahir said, not mentioning, that he had worked himself upwards for quite some time. "But still, it is wonderful to hear of you getting the hang of everything. I am quite sure, that not only your own efforts, but also the efforts of your staff are to thank for that, including, of course, the good Lord-Chancellor."
Al-Zahir nodded to his opposite number, at least if he understood the Dancerian Political System correctly.
"If I may ask...", Dschamilla said from her spot at al-Zahir's side. "...what is planned for the future?" She let a beat pass. "Except for the Olympics of course."

Danceria wrote:"Aratar Almighty...where do I begin...?" Aceus sighed and gave them a succinct sit rep on what Aceus and his cabinet were facing. A remodeling of the Banking system and discussion on privatizing or nationalizing businesses, which in turn lead to the heated debate on a major amendment to the Dancerian Constitution; the anullment of a tricameral system in exchange for a simple, bicameral elective system and the nature and duty of the nobility in a rather libertarian political landscape. This of course no right with it a hydra of other issues, parks, infrastructure, stance on crime, a general sense of glasnost in the education system.
Aceus himself seemed to favor a bicameral system, to thin the beuacracy and to incentivize the nobility to "work rather than to weasel their way to prestige", but this of course was the largest topic on the Dancerian political sphere. However, the Dancerian man was confident with the coming Olympics, Danceria would shine on the international stage. "For the first time in almost half a century, Danceria truly prospers." he concluded. "Betwen my bookkeeping and Snow's oration skills, we make quite the dynamic duo." "You've always had a better head for papers, I'd fall asleep at the desk with the dry documents you've got to deal with." the burly Chancellor would agree, albeit with a teasing tone. "Maybe once this amendment either passes or flops, you might find a girl and settle down." Aceus paused, with a wistful look on his face. "Maybe I can...after all, you managed to get hitched just after you became Chancellor, and with twins on the way!"

"Quit your bowing and scraping," Snow beamed at the Grand Vizier, especially proud of the compliments laid on his children "Danceria is as much of Kyrenaia's friend as you are ours. While we may grant cozy cushions and fine wines to some people, you'll be welcome in Danceria at any time! Kinda like the lame cub and the cactus, right Ace?" Aceus on the other hand (and possibly Karim) would sigh. "It's the cub and the carcal...as in "These exiles plain/the cub and carcal/whose friendship and determination/make "I wish" to "I shall"?"" the Dancerian recited the couplets with ease. "See, Ace definitely has a better handle on bookwork than me." "Seems you're only contributing two thirds of those compliments to your kids." the King would jab jokingly, yo which Snow would reply "I know Serah's beautiful, was that meant to be an insult?" it would be obvious that the two, despite noticeably different personalities and interests were close friends.Saarkrisken wrote:-snap-
Edgar had a mysterious smile at the mention of children. "Oh...just a few here and there." he murmured in a noncommittal but telltale answer. "But, you came all the way from Saarkreeskan! What's there to know about your home, other than it has a high sense of fashion, as demonstrated by yourself and your wife." he bowed his head respectfully at the Consul's wife, before giving an almost playful smirk at the young lad "As well as many different types of bread, as demonstrated by your son."

Kyrenaia wrote:Indeed, Karim sighed, but he was overjoyed to hear, that the Dancerian King had such a good grasp of poetry - that was a person, he could get along with, if they got to meet one-on-one. As it stood, that might happen in the near future, as Danceria seemed to be growing closer and closer to Kyrenaia and vice-versa.
He also noted, that the two might have had clashing characters, but they were very close.
The Grand Vizier grinned at the comment about the bowing and scraping, that was indeed one of the things, that foreigners in Kyrenaia found odd about them. "Indeed, it's not good for the back.", he joked and nodded, "But still, I am glad, that Kyrenaia is counted as Danceria's friends. We do the same, after all." He leaned over slightly. "When you ever visit Kyrenaia officially, Young King, be prepared to have tea with the Sultana. She looks forward to it!"

Danceria wrote:"Indeed, she and I have a rather touchy subject to discuss. Perhaps something not wholly suited over tea." Snow gave a nervous sideways glance to the Dancerian King, the first and most glaring notion that something was, or rather could be, amiss between the two nations that have been getting along rather swimmingly. "Tell me, Grand Vizier," Aceus ventured as he swirled his tea. "Her Majesty of Kyrenaia has sons and grandsons, correct?"

Kyrenaia wrote:Danceria wrote:Al-Zahir raised an eyebrow, as his words about speaking with the Sultana sounded foreboding, but he nodded at the question.
"Two sons, Prince Damir and Crown Prince Ilia, a daughter, Princess Rasha, and a granddaughter, Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.", he said with a nod, "All of them singles, currently, no matter what the yellow press says, I might add." He shook his head. He could mention Aurelia and her relationship status, but that would lead to nowhere but tears and anger, so instead, he tried it with humour. "One of the disadvantages of a free press, I suppose... they are still trying to prove, that the Sultana is a hyper-intelligent aubergine, which is, of course, ridiculous." He let a beat pass, his beard moving slightly as he grinned. "She's a hyper-intelligent guacamole, of course."
Dschamilla hid a giggle behind her hand.

Danceria wrote:Aceus, being fully aware of Aurelia's status, smirked at the joke "Better than being a fire breathing sloth, I suppose." his face was relaxed, but it appeared he was tense about...something. But it was quickly ignored to capitalize on the stoic Princess's brief moment of mirth. "So, Dschamilla, Karim, what are your stories? From what I've heard this would be Karim's first diplomatic mission." Hopefully his missions will be less controversial than my plans for the Sultana Aceus thought grimly, noting the two Crown Princes names to "invite" to the inevitable tea hour with the Sultana. He did not wish for Fara to be a part of it, for he did not know her own views, and preferred to use the yellow press to his advantage. Thanks to a few escapades with the Lord Chancellor and his own cousin, he gradually knew how to spin a narrative. Already the gears of conspiracy wrought within the Dancerian King's mind, echoed by a reassuring yet subtle thumbs up from his cousin down the table. The things I do to talk to a girl...

"Honoured King of Lux Pulchrae," he began "While the Valar were not gracious in granting you swift travels, I hope they grant you much joy in being in these halls." Aceus gestured to the King's place at the table. Coincidentally, it was next to the Saarkriskian delegstion, sadly within distance of two blond haired re in brothers. The younger, and the one who wore his curly hair in a loose braid, smiled at the wife of the King, much to his town's discomfort.

Cleone bowed and went to his seat, waving to the Kyrenaians as he walked away. Sitting down they greeted the surrounding guests and nobles "Buongiorno, it is quite a day." he turned to the blonde men "Cleone d'Angeli, pleasure to meet you. And this is my cousin, Lourdes." she waved her hand at the man and spoke in Spanish "Placer."
