Minor protests in Nifon against Soryu anime series

A small group of about fifty protesters brought their anger out onto the Nifonese city of Minamitsuri today as they railed against the controversial but extremely popular Soryu anime series. Soryu is produced by NERV Studios and follows the adventures of the blue dragon of the same name.The character has become a popular symbol of Nifonese culture abroad, with no fewer than fifty-two films currently in the series. The demonstrators chose to concentrate themselves outside the headquarters of NERV Studios; on Empress Rei's Avenue, in the heart of Minamitsuri. One of the individuals attending the protest was Shinamura Ayame, a twenty-three-year-old college student who has taken part in various anti-government demonstrations in the past, including rioting. In an interview given to the INN news network, Ms Ayame explained the reasoning behind their protests, saying, among other things, that "yellow males play all the dominant roles" and that the "women are portrayed as feeble and dependent on their male counterparts". The Nifonese authorities have said they will not break up the demonstration, so long as the protesters remain peaceful.

However, it is one scene in particular that appears to have generated considerable controversy, namely from the season one finale of Soryu. In it, one of the characters; Furinkazan Solutions employee Matsunaga Kensuke, delivers a powerful monologue as he points towards an artificial kaiju being used by the World Assembly's military forces to fight against the Imperial Nifonese Army in Almurta. His sentence towards the end; "What begun as a movement of so called 'liberation' has incarnated in monstrosity standing in front of us. And it's only the beginning.", is particularly noteworthy. Ms Ayame and her colleagues argue that the series is purposefully demonising globalism and progressivism, portraying them as being against "Nifoneseness". The creator of this latest series, however, admits that they are somewhat right in their accusations, explaining that, in his view, "Soryu is the manifestation of Nifonese spirit". Its no surprise that he would have the blue dragon attack the World Assembly.

A blockbuster movie, called Shin Soryu (literally 'The New Soryu'), was released earlier this year, and is part of a growing genre of film featuring strong nationalistic and patriotic themes; typically depicting resistance against some sort of powerful global government, that has emerged across many SACTO-aligned countries. Serafín de Acusta's critically acclaimed Coming Home broke box office records in Carloso earlier in the summer, with actor Armando Olba playing as billionaire private military company owner Ethan Salias. The war film follows Salias as he joins up with an exiled Carlosian Army in Agostinia to fight back against a despotic World Assembly, who have invaded and occupied Carloso and much of the planet. Many commentator praised its soundtrack, visual effects and intricate story-line, while others denounced it as a 'thinly veiled propaganda piece' and pushing a 'blatantly anti-WA agenda'. Whether these accusations are true are not, Coming Home still proved to be immensely popular.

RTC Two has confirmed that it is currently negotiating a contract with NERV Studios to broadcast an English dub of the first season of Soryu on Carlosian television, highlighting the 14:00 to 14:40 time-slot as the most likely candidate. SRE Dos is also expected to broadcast the programme with its own Spanish dub in the near future.

The Honourable Ronald Chump could hardly contain his excitement when Parliament House came into sight.

It was the afternoon of the day after The Royal Alexandria Times had published their article — “Archbishop Tomas Becket spat at by Muslim migrant.” Chump and Tense had driven for most of two days but Chump was not exhausted. His heart was beating hard and fast, blocking his throat. He was about to gain extra votes again.

Might Tense next to him was in deep slumber, oblivious to his thoughts. He had once told his loyal Chief of Staff that he will be Emperor one day. But Marion came along and stole his thunder: a blonde high achiever, young for a senior politician, and with a loving African Yohannesian husband and biracial daughters to boot: she was the twenty-first century model politician — and so the people loved her back. When she then announced that she would tackle illegal immigration and ban religious head covering in public, Chump knew that the Office of the Emperor was not going to be his.

But there was still the Office of the Chancellor. The lesbian, neoliberal immigration sellout: she would surely be no match for him? And so the way was clear — Ronald Chump 2018: Make Yohannes Great Again. He flinched as he remembered her laughter. The lesbian Chancellor mocked his ambition in parliament. She had made him feel like a nobody, a slave; she had acted as if his movement was a political force of no account.

But that was in 2017 — the tables had been turned. Woman Spat at after abuse by migrants, the Sharia Law spreading across the nation; Archbishop of Dali spat at by Khataiyi Wahhabi migrant; East Asian Future: Tales of Migrant Trafficking — suddenly voters waited for him when they see him to say: “Mr Chump. I agree with you, Sir, but I’m too afraid to speak my mind because I am not a racist. We need to do something about East Asian and Muslim immigration.” And so he said, “They are opening their Ni Hao Ma noodle canteen shops and Yao Ming supermarkets everywhere; Khataiy is building three Grand Mosques and seventy-eight Mosques in Alexandria — it’s a disgrace!”

It was the lesbian Chancellor’s rainbow movement that was of no account, now.

The mainstream media believed it would be a sixty-forty result — but Chump believed those too afraid to speak their mind would make it forty-sixty instead. He was set to be the next Chancellor, and she was set to be a nobody. She would have no name, no position, no office, no followers. He would amend many of her old Acts, and he would scratch out her name in ecstasy — and then she would have no legacy either. It was almost too good to be true: he felt like grab’em by the pussy.

He walked slower as they approached the chamber. He did not want Annabelle the lesbian Chancellor to have any warning of his arrival: he wanted her to have an unexpected, horrendous, overwhelming shock. His loyal Chief of Staff Might Tense and campaign strategist Sleeve Banone said their goodbyes and left for his office upstairs, to arrange for the black comedians, the best wines, and the household ladies to be moved to his room. Chump’s job now was to entertain the chamber beltway crowd, show himself before Parliament Channel’s audience, and deliver his message to them: Make Yohannes Great Again.

Dark grey clouds brewed across the sky, so clear they seemed almost to touch his heart. He opened the door. The chamber was before his eyes. No lesbian Chancellor tonight. That made it even better. He would be throwing her out into a butchering soon enough anyway.

Breaking News: Ronald Chump praises Soryu — The Series amidst outrage over “Nifonophile-like admirations” of Greater Nifon

8 September 2018: Parliamentary Member of the New Cleyra electorate The Honourable Ronald Chump said that he wants to speak to the Nifonese Shogun over the phone next week, after learning of the release of the final two-part episode of Season 1 of Soryu — The Series.

“I want to call the Great Shogun and congratulate him and his family and his ancestors for industrialising and occidentalising Greater Nifon. I have great admiration for Greater Nifon and her people. Just like us they were once facing possible colonial subjugation by foreign Occidental powers. And just like us they industrialised and modernised to become a ‘civilised’ nation. I think that that is great that we have left the rest of the ‘uncivilised nations’ behind. I mean — would you have their people immigrating to your nation? I mean, c’mon people. Please.”

“Please!”

He believed that it is his duty to make clear his support of Greater Nifon and all that she stood for — as Greater Nifon and other “powerful” member states of SACTO and IFC will enforce their rules and whims “more and more” on “both non-aligned and uncivilised” nations the International Incidents over, “It is our job to align ourselves closer with their foreign policy. We can be neutral, but it does not mean that we will not support them. I think the Nifonese Shogun is a great, great man. He is a strong leader. Like me. I mean, who doesn’t like a strong man? He is promising to throw out migrants by the boatload; he believe immigrants are not real Nifonese; he believe in open trade with Yohannes; he kills communists; and he has made Greater Nifonese great. I want that for my nation. I want to make Yohannes Great Again.”

Chump reiterated further that, “As Chancellor, I will make Yohannes Great Again. I will bring back the Panthera. I will bring back the Crown Commonwealth. I will bring back the carriers and I will militarise our financial arms like they were back in 2012. I will bring back the coal and steel jobs. I will tell nations to band together with us to help Make International Incidents Great Again. I will shoot down anyone who disagree — that includes the communists.”

“Tell me if that is not a great — a G.R.E.A.T. future. Please people. Please.”

For her part, Chancellor Annabelle Thorndon-Stevensonn has called Chump “unhinged”, and believes that, “We have a duty to uphold the principles of prosperity and stability before the law. We are a multicultural, diverse nation. We are a rainbow nation. We should not return to the past — the future is where we belong. And that is where I will bring us come 2020 as one, united nation.”

Somewhere in the hills just north of the capital citadel sat the community of Metacouille Heights. A township in its own right, the community was removed from the main city of Castille de Térro, but was still considered part of the province consisting of "Metro Castille". It was an oblong development, something that looked more like a contemporary Yankee suburb with manicured grass, symmetrically planted coconut palms and HOA-approved delis, cafés and corner markets rather than a rustic, brick-and-mortar baroque latino village like many of the other outskirt communities.

Laurabelle Lafitte sat on the couch of her apartment, lounging sideways with her head on the arm rest and her feet on the cushion. She was, (somewhat) abnormally dressed kind of like a stripper this evening; from her tight, pale-pink one-piece underwear with matching neck collar, white stockings and low-heeled pumps with a similar light rose color. Topping it all off was a headband with a single faux-flower nestled into her long, silky chocolate hair.
Running on the télévision was a re-run of Inyursta: 1989; a political espionage thriller set in a fictitious timeline where Inyursta was invaded and conquered in the late 80's by a fascist-communist alliance (similar to Poland in 1939) leaving a divided country occupied by two competing totalitarian regimes. The back-to-back marathon had started earlier in the day, and it was now roughly half-way through the first season. Laurabelle sipped a strong Bellini cocktail, meanwhile on screen the fascists moved to consolidate their power, utilizing brownshirt mobs to attack and de-platform anyone with "dangerous" ideas speaking in public. She fiddled around on her phone for a few seconds and looked back up to see mock-Gestapo secret police confiscating firearms from Eduardo, a recurring character with Down's Syndrome, because the fascists believed firearms in the hands of the mentally ill were a danger to the public. The disinterested damsel casually watched through the thinly-veiled ideological jabs and focused her attention once the plotline focused back to the story of Avélina, a young woman selected as a war-bride-to-be for her light skin tone and green eyes as part of a campaign by the occupiers to remake Inyursta into something more like Western Europe.

Armando Villaneuve came through the door, already unbuttoning his shirt and ditching his brown leather brogues as he came through the door. Armando was the closest thing the Inyurstan intel community had to a celebrity, spending his time advising the ambassador to the IFC, serving as a guest speaker & panelist on various news talk-shows, and writing books and articles about his theories and geopolitical/strategic analysis.

He ignored the question, pouring himself a sharp glass of Ti' Punch and sitting down on the couch; while Laurabelle shifted and tried to cozy herself into his lap. With his shirt unbuttoned, Armando's lean-cut six pack was showing - it was likely that the reason his girlfriend of two years was trying to seduce him into popping the question was that at twenty-seven years old she wasn't going to find much better than the pseudo-spy genius with a more-than-comfortable paycheck, but certainly his solid abs and thick biceps didn't make him any less desirable.
Armando gently nudged her back off his lap, instead pulling up a pillow and his laptop. A man with a running mind and things to get done, he hardly had time to let chica linda distract him at the moment. He sat clicking and striking away at his keyboard while Laurabelle sat back and sighed, returning to watch her reruns. Eventually, Armando grabbed the remote control and turned the channel to the news.

"Que la!" She exclaimed, but Armando was lost in the visuals of protests and celebration over an anime series. He chuckled as he took another sip of his liquor.
"Illos n'escashan paz encore!"

Laurabelle simply stared at him, her solid brown eyes narrowing with discontent that her beau was not only disinterested in her advances but also insistent on turning off her hit TV drama in exchange for news over a damn anime show.
"The Nijonese are making TV shows, and they aren't hiding their ethnic and culture beliefs." He began, switching to English. "Soryu is basically a program for adolescents, its hardly an uber-serious program - yet by filling the season finale or whatever with pro-Nijonese propaganda they caused outrage. Think about it, a Nijonese program caused outrage for being pro-Nijonese. That means that anyone who is behind such outrage must be anti-Nijonese. Its the same situation as the "Its okay to be white" campaign, when people got upset by it, they implied that it is in fact not okay to be white. Critics of Nijon just plaid themselves and proved themselves guilty of most things this little show implied they were guilty of." He explained.
Laurabelle showed some interest, albeit slightly in the sense of that "I can't stand it when you're smart" vibe. A click of the remote and the TV switch up from Télécoup news to rival outlet Augillo Un; bringing with it a quick segment on Yohannesian Chancellor candidate "Ronald Chump" who was praising the animation and Maki Kojiro.
"What do you make of this Chump guy?" She asked, trying to let him run through his opinions and theories.

"People like him are more trouble than they are worth."

"Too unpredictable?"

"In a manner of speaking. In the short-term, these national unity populist types are great for foreign policy, they aren't apt to oppose Inyurstan or SACTO policy as much as their progressive counter-parts. The flip side is - and more importantly - these types like Chump keep out excess, unvetted immigration, and work against LGBT promotion. "

"And why is that bad for us?"

"Because we want an idiot divider who is going to help promote lifestyles which drop birthrates and allow more foreigners in. For every westerner that chooses a gay lifestyle is western kids not being born and raised. You pair that with lax immigration laws, and that sure leaves a lot of space for our children to come in and systematically replace them. " Armando wasn't about to go into plots for ""third-world"" revenge and domination of the ""first-world"" through demographic replacement and internal ethnic sabotage with his girlfriend dressed in lingerie beside him - in a backroom meeting with other "backwards", "uncivilized" non-western SACTO geostrategic planners, maybe - but not here and now.

"Wait... You mean like, OUR children?" She asked, leaning closer again.

"Maybe, just maybe... Armando said, letting her fall back into his lap and throwing his arm around her...

The interior minister of Khataiy, Muhammad Aswari was at a convention in the Khataiyi capital of Antakya talking to a gathering of police from various parts of the country about national security, new trends that cause crime and foreign threats directly affecting the nation and how police should handle it by cooperating with both the army and national guard. Soon after his finishing remarks he went back to the dressing room of the complex and a group of journalists followed him back and asked him to comment on protests in Nifon regarding the anime and how it could affect trade with Khataiy to which Aswari replied, "Anime is something I wish doesn't become prevalent in Khataiy, I mean we have seen what it has done to the youth of America and Europe and we need something with more substance for our youth, but with this being said these protests are ridiculous and minuscule and I can tell you this will result in nothing these protestors are likely paid actors following a narrative to villianize the Nifonese government, we've seen these trends before and they are recycled and lame. I wish the best for the Nifonese government and wish them prosperity."
