A breaking event has happened in Tarsas. The 2nd Native Uprising has begun as the natives in the far north, living on the last bastions of untouched land, have attacked a military outpost. Managing to take it with 200 casualties and slaughtering the thirty defenders, they have stolen five hundred assault rifles and a few rocket launchers. Their reasons were made public in an ultimatum they sent condemning the fact that settlers had settled their fertile northern forests and had promised to advance to the capital with the "Trespassers", as they called the settlers, own guns. Several more outposts have recently been hit and the weapons and ammunition taken. The natives are advancing toward their fist major target, a settlement known as Paria. Five hundred marines assembled to combat the six thousand armed natives.
Paria, defensive positions outside the city
Colonel Mark Jenring had been one of the first to hear about the uprising. It was in his area and he had quickly departed the military base he was in command of commandeering every vehicle and transport craft he could find. He managed to fund enough to get 500 troops, 200 marines and 300 soldiers, out of the base. The massive military equipment shipment had arrived a week before and several hundred Dyson Dynamics LogiStar-1700 heavy utility trucks had arrived. Several had arrived by train the day after he left. A pity, he could have transported more men up.
He had brought supplies though and minefields, machine gun nests, and many other interesting traps awaited the natives who were approaching. UAV data revealed that they were only a mile away and were marching for the city. As the last of the defensive positions were set up, the men manned their battle stations. Over the hill, the soldiers could see thousands of natives running at them with assault rifles and axes. The Colonel took out a cigarette and lit it. He was inside a small house serving as the command center. It was right near the positions. He looked out the window and saw the natives were in range. "BEGIN FIRING", he shouted into his radio. Immediately, his men fired machine guns and their rifles. As he watched, a chain of explosions killed over five hundred of the charging natives. The men began to cheer. The second mine field was coming up. It went off with a bang, shredding over a thousand of the ignorant natives charging across the field. The 4,300 that were left charged into the machine gun fire, which killed three hundred, reducing the numbers to 4,000. They arrived at the positions and fell on the men, who fell back, hard.
The Colonel had already ran back to his fallback command center after the natives had fallen on the lines. Once the troops had gotten through the minefield, he activated it by remote. The natives ran over it. It was the biggest one and it went off with a boom destroying an entire suburb of the settlement. The natives didn't follow, they retreated. Over two thousand of their original number had died for only Thirty Tarsan Casualties. The natives had fallen into his trap. The small airstrip here was sufficient enough for UAVs to take off from, and seventeen UAVs had taken off in the later stages of the battle. Armed with napalm, anti-infantry bombs, and two machine guns, they pursued the natives. The bombs, napalm, and machine guns killed another two thousand natives as they ran and the UAVs hammered them, their thermal/conventional cameras granting them the ability to do this. Twelve native war camps with ammunition and supplies had also been bombed, destroying much of their ammunition.
After so many of his brethren were slaughtered, Tan-Wo Megar, the native general, walked back to the town and surrendered to the Colonel. He was exuberant. He was soon promoted to Major-General. The two thousand natives were sent to work camps and the revolt leaders were executed. The dangerous natives in the north, having revolted twice and caused numerous problems, were moved to a small reserve on Tarsas owned island of Verar out in the ocean. The reserve was fenced in with razor and barbed wire fences and the natives were allowed to have their way of life receiving 1/2 of the island to farm and have their way of life. The remainder was taken up by a settlement and an army and a navy base.
The empty Northern Forest was quickly claimed and several settlements sprouted up there. Roads and a rail line have been promptly built to the new settlements and some settlers, much to the dismay of the colonial government, have settled inside Western Cuban territory right near the border of New Tarsas. The profitable town of Arverin sprung up where they settled. The only road to the town is a dirt road due to the colonial government not wanting to violate another nation's territory. The dirt road was built and funded by the settlers in the town of Arverin. They linked it to a New Tarsas road. The Colonial Government had made repeated attempts to get them back over the border, but eventually closed off the dirt road they built and placed guard posts along it. A military outpost near the border was also built for the guard post's staff to live in. New Tarsas has disowned the settlers, saying they must have Western Cuban passports to trade their wares.
