Discovery of Amrenia (MT, Open)

[Raludcia]

On Board the RRS Adventure

The Knight Class frigate of the RRN had been hunting the pirates for several weeks now, following them into uncharted water and battling with enemy vessels.

The Frigate had been protecting a cargo ship belonging to Van-Hetten Mining Corp, a mining company within Raludcia. Unfourtunately the Pirates had sunk the ship and killed the crew when the ransom could not be paid in time, the frigate was here to hunt and destroy these criminals.

Suddenly on the RADAR an familiar signal appeared. Land. Surely not this far out thought the captain, but there it was. Seeing the coastline it was like none he had seen before - a vast landmass covered in virgin forests stretching back for thousands of miles. It astounded him that he was probably the first human being to set eyes upon it, well the first civilised one anyway. He immediatley alerted the government who decided that the land had to be taken for the expanding empire of Raludcia.

3 Weeks later

A colony was established on the West coast of the new continent and the land was called Amrenia, in honour of Van-Hetten's CEO who's crew had died for the discovery of the land. Raludcian military personnel were also arriving eager to reinforce the kingdom's claim to the island. It surely wouldn't be long before other colonists started to arrive.

The Colony was called the Incorporated States of Amrenia and had a population of 100,000. The capital is known as New Kesseldorf.

[Silver Beach]

Silver Beach had heard of the discovery of a new land, called Amrenia. Namigadde looked at it for a second, and realized this was a golden opportunity for Silver Beach to colonize. So she sent 40 ships to the land to establish a colony.

Chief Dakarai had been hearing news of weird people in the area recently, and had sent out warriors to investigate, from what his warriors told him these were strange people who came to their lands in large metal boats, these people also carried sticks that shot lightning and fire out of them. Worried about these new people, and who or what they might really be Chief Dakarai decided to lead 50 of his best warriors to the new comers' nearest settlement, once there they would kill everyone they found, and as usual consume their flesh to gain their powers, as well as turning their heads into trophies.

OOC: to sum it up these natives are head hunters and cannibals with stone age technology.

yellow= Bari (very good archers and hunters)

brown= Eyak (good at making canoos, and are slightly more advanced then the other tribes)

blue= Juichun (the largest and most numerous tribe with over 500,000 people)

pink= Okwanuchu (very stealthy warriors, and very skillful at using a weapon similar to the Maquahuitl)

green= Quechan (their whole society is based on killing people, they use captured enemies as human sacrifices to their gods, and to make weapons, they use dead enemies as food, and make their heads into trophies)

orange= Umatilla (very good at navigating through mountains, and are the second most numerous tribe)

light green= Kwaiailk (good at making canoos, and at sailing, capable of making canoos that are capable of blue water travel)

grey= Esselen (rather all around skill as warriors, and are probably the most socially advanced society, even having organized military units. They also fight in formations)

Weapons
Nuxalk- a massive recurve bow often four to seven feet long
Nuxalka- a shorter recurve bow usually three to four feet long
Raramuri- A long (8-12 foot) heavy stick studded with obsidian or flint shards, and with a long obsidian or flint tip
Putún- A short (usually 1-1.5 foot) throwing spear that is designed to be used by skirmishers
Quechua- A small (>2 foot) shield made of leather reinforced with wood
Quechan- A larger (2-3 foot) shield made of leather reinforced with wood
Maquahuitl- A club that could be up to four feet long and was studded with obsidian or flint shards

[Raludcia]

Native attacks in the new colony prompted outrage in the Kingdom and it occured to the king how stupid he was for not fortifying his settlements. 54 settlers were killed in the attack. After hearing that the locals had cannibalised colonists the government had decided that the natives could not be civilised and had to be destroyed. The 7th Infantry Division were despatched to the colony - experts in guerilla warfare and having a ruthless reputation gained in the civil war. The colony also formed the colonial militia who would attempt to repel any future native attack.

[Silver Beach]

Silver Beach navy had landed at Amrenia. They looked at what looked like a deserted land. They were a few miles north of the border of the Racludian settlement, so they were not that far from help if it was needed. They took 200 soldiers and 500 settlers and decided to march into the forest, while other ships went north to spread their claim across their whole part of the area.

General Yocum was in charge of the first group they had sent into the forest. General Yocum saw the beautiful forest, and how the river going through this rainforest would have their drinks, and everybody would be fed. They decided to settle down in the woods, and he sent 25 soldiers and 10 scouts to scout the rest of the forest while they settled camp around this part of the river for the night.

[Onyenu]

With nes of a new land spreading around the league Onyenu dispatched a colony fleet for the south eastern region. After about a week two small cities were set up with a medium sized military base setup up. After UAV scouting in the area it was shown that the colony reached the moutains in the area. The total colony size ranged 13,000 colonists and 750 military personnel.

[North African Empire]

The Imperialist Dictatorship of North African Empire caught wind of the Discovery of Amrenia and send ships to colonize a part for the NAE.

OOC: named the tribes, and gave a basic summary of how each of them stand out. Also these people are rather tall (around 6 feet tall for the males) and are rather fast runners.

[Dinosians]

A Dinosian expedition landed on the large islands just off the coast of the continent. Not wanting to have to deal with inland natives, the Dinosian's were content with their island. over the next several weeks settlers would be brought in and the Colony's capital Corith would be established. The colony was dubbed Xanthi and an official claim was made by the Dinosian government a few days after their arrival.

Noticing large numbers of foreigners (Silver Beach) in their lands the Juichun had decided to begin launching raids against the foreigners, dozens of war parties set out to slay the newcomers, each war party numbered from 30-60 warriors and new that no mercy would be shown to the people that were defiling their land.

Farthest Right of Amrenia

After news spread of the discovery of a new continent, the Dominion of Inabi wanted to get in on the opportunity to claim land for the Dominion. Sending a fleet of ships, escorted with a few frigates, filled to the brim with colonists, they eventually landed and settled down on what appeared to be the farthest right of the Amrenian continent. Luckily, there had been no complications with the effort of sailing there and all of the ships had made it to the continent perfectly intact. After fully establishing itself as a new colony, the captain dubbed the new colony "Piral." The reason? Well, no particular reason at all. Just a nice sounding name.

Of course, as goes with all colonization attempts, there would be resistance. The current natives of the continent wouldn't take kindly to foreigners taking their land that, previously, had belonged to them. To prevent any hostilities from breaking out even at the very beginning of the colonization, the captain prepared to greet the natives with gifts. Their goal was not to exterminate the native population, but to integrate with them. The language barrier would still serve as a major obstacle between the two people, he selected the most lingually adept of the colonists to come with him during the greeting. However, this was all assuming that the natives were not going to be instantly hostile. If this was so, there was an order given to all military personnel to fire at the hint of hostilities. Otherwise, they were to stand-down and remain hidden.

This was either going to be the start of a beautiful friendship, or a bloody war.

[New Amerik]

New Amerik heard about this new landmass, and knowing about the state of such landmasses decided to claim a military outpost and later colony for New Amerik. They sent a first fleet of ten colonial ships, packed with Legion soldiers, doktors, and laborers. They recieved two possible locations to start a colony, and waited off the coast of the nearest friendly colony till they recieved orders where to move.

Eventually, they recieved orders to move up the eastern bay and it's four islets, and make the new colony there on the coasts. The frigates moved up the bay, and the doktors carefully stored their plague infested blankets gift blankets away just incase the natives appeared hostile....

[Silver Beach]

6 soldiers and a scout came sprinting back to camp in the mid-morning, where General Yocum and the settlers had been sleeping during the night. "General, there are natives in this land that are attacking us and killed everybody else in the party. We barely escaped, but we have to push back to the coast!!!"

OK, soldier. We will retreat back to the coast and call for some help before we come back and try to settle,. But we need more information about these tribal settlers. The scout can go and surrender to be a soy for us, and give us info on their strengths and weaknesses." General Yocum finshed with.

When they retreated back to the coast, they decided to stay on the beaches. They called 4 other platoons of soldiers and future settlers to their postition. If they were going to win, they would have to attack those tribalmen. And General Yocum was not about to lose to a bunch of primitive tribal freaks

Recently one of the foreigners arrived at a Juichun village, the Juichun assumed that the man was sent as a way to appease them. Not wanting to anger the gods though the Juichun had sacrificed the foreigner by tearing open his ribcage, and tossing his body into a pit of fire so that their gods may consume his flesh. After sacrificing the man to their gods the Juichun searched for the foreigners. Their search was unsuccessful until a group of 6 warriors found them gathered by the coast, they immediately rushed back to tell the rest of their tribe.

After noticing the strange new people in their land (Onyenu) the Umatilla decided to speak with them. A local Umatilla chieftain, arrived with 10 of his warriors, and several shrunken heads, and skulls to offer to the foreigners as gifts. The Umatilla chieftain had also brought his 12 year old son so that the Umatilla could exchange hostages with the foreigners to ensure peace.

Princess-Regent Arabella Alcedina was extatic to hear about the recent discovery of Amrenia. With the surrender of 21 colonies to Grand Atia in the recent civil war the prospect of gaining a new seemed promissing.
"There." She said, pointing her finger at the eastern part of the continent.

The Colonial Expedition arrived at the small islands of the fjord in the eastern part of the country. To prevent to much trouble with the natives admiral Piodor decided to establish a bridgehead on the islands. He decided to send a telegram announcing the Most Serene Republics claim for land.

Today I, on behalf of my country have claimed the south eastern corner of the continent of Amrenia. It is the Most Serene Republics intent to create a prosperous and strong colony here to strengthen our economy and civilise the natives

[Onyenu]

After noticing the strange new people in their land (Onyenu) the Umatilla decided to speak with them. A local Umatilla chieftain, arrived with 10 of his warriors, and several shrunken heads, and skulls to offer to the foreigners as gifts. The Umatilla chieftain had also brought his 12 year old son so that the Umatilla could exchange hostages with the foreigners to ensure peace.

Once the Umatilla arrived the sceintists and researchers brought along (four into total) exhancged with the tribe. Along with the reserchers the team gave the indians steel tools, jewels, and a full easy to learn guide to Onyen. With the researchers going to the camp as "hostages" they too would learn the way of the Umatilla and their language. After about another week the Onyenu claim had expanded when the west most part finally reached the east shore and moutain research outposts were setup north expanding farther north as well. With more boats arrving another 12,000 colonists arrived with 7,000 nanoshock quards and 275 IFVs.

The Colonial Expedition Force began setting up camp on the islands and on both sides of the fjord. Troops where sent to the north to meet the Esselen tribe. The Most Serene Republic had ordered that it was vital to make friends out of the Esselen. In the southern part of the colony scouts where sent to meet with the Umatilla.

Upon meeting up with the foreigners the Esselen brought gifts of fruits, animal skins, ceremonial weapons, and and gold. The greeting party was made up of hundreds of individuals (mostly warriors), and lead by chieftains wearing the skins of jaguars, and and headdresses. Amongst the procession were two people dressed in the skins of jaguars with colourful running along the back, arms, back of the legs, and tail of the skin, ending with a plume of feathers on the tip of the tail. Both of the two people carried long curved golden knives, they held out their hands as though they wanted to shake hands with the foreign leaders. After grabbing the hands of the leaders they slashed their palms and let their blood drain into a large metal pot.

In the south the Umatilla attacked all of the settlers on the island that they came across, not even consuming their flesh, or making them into trophies like the other tribes. They made sure that no trace of the existence of the foreigners remained after they killed them, going as far as to burn their bodies and dumping their ashes out miles into the ocean.

OOC: I do have a reason for the Umatilla to attack you and not Onyenu, if you want to know just tg me.

[Silver Beach]

General Yocum was standing by the coast on the beach. He was wondering what to do, when he realized that his scout had not come back. He messaged him through walkie-talkie, but that did not work. Nobody was on the other end, so he knew that his guy was either dead or long lost or captured.

General Yocum saw Captain Joseph and Captain Travis come in from the North with their settlers. Now, combined, they had about 800 troops and 3,000 people who had come to settle here, who were mostly jews. General Yocum called a meeting between the three leaders in his tent.

General Yocum: "Hello, Captains Joseph and Travis. I know this is really urgent, and we have a big problem. We find natives and a tribal village on the other side of the rainforest. But the problem was, that they killed 19 of our soldiers and 5 of our scouts, and a 6th scout that we sent out is missing and feared dead. We think that this force will be enough to drive off the savages, especially since we do not know the land and our scouts keep on getting killed. So I propose that we get a battle plan. We send in my troops and I first to fight in a raid of the village, and when things turn against us, Joseph and his troops will come in, and if we cannot win then, then we will retreat back to the coast and request more help from central command. By the way, Travis and his troops will stay here to guard the settlers, who should be armed with the hunting rifles at least."

They agreed, and went to sleep. In the morning, they would fight, and they wanted to rest first. They sent scouts forward to go and get food on the edge of the rainforest, and they found lots of berry bushes and grapes and other fruits.

Lulika City, Silver Beach

Back in the capital of Silver Beach, Adorabelle Namigadde was deciding on what to do next. She heard there was trouble in the colony with native peoples, but they had landed and were surviving on the coast. She decided not to send more troops, but decided to name the colony The Colony of New Virginia.

The Juichun had decided to launch an all out attack during the night, 1,200 warriors rushed into the foreigners' camp, cutting down anyone who resisted. The forces were divided into 200 class 1 soldiers¹ 300 class 2 soldiers², and 700 class 3 soldiers³.

¹ - Noblemen, usually wearing the skins of dangerous animals, carrying a Maquahuitl, and occasionally carrying a shield.
² - Better equipped warriors than class 3 warriors, and commonly carry a spear.
³ - The poorest soldiers, and are only armed with a club, and a few large rocks.
