The Weltkrise [CLOSED]

Postby Frievolk » Fri Aug 03, 2018 4:52 am

The World Crisis

Following the end of The Second Weltkrig, the world effectively lost the order it had followed since early 18th century. The idea of "Great Powers" essentially lost its meaning as most of the countries that could have assumed such a status were left in ruins. The multipolarity of the world was destroyed, with most of Europe in debt and ruins. Instead, a bipolar system came to life, with The United States and the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics as the two Competing poles of the world. As if proving a point, the new order was even more unstable than the original was. A Cold War started between the two ideologically opposing superpowers, quickly forming two Major factions and a minor "Non-Aligned" faction that was in truth powerless. NATO and the Warsaw Pact quickly came to conflict, forming a long international crisis in "The Cold War" that would not be resolved until 46 more years.

The War also broke the warring spirit of most Europeans, leaving numerous countries in shambles, and even more countries destabilized or carved into pieces. Of the major partitioned countries in the world war Germany, ironically part of the winning side, which had its eastern territories (most of Prussia) partitioned in order to reform a "Nation of Poland", a buffer between The Western bloc and Russia's puppets, and administer the remaining parts of occupied Germany under a "Democratic Republican" state-capitalist government.

Of course, all this changed after 1991. With the USSR dissolving, most of its former territories were given independence in order to form new nations, and its satellite states fell victim of revolts, revolutions, or non-violent regime change. With State-capitalism losing its power in most of the world (only a few countries in Africa, China, and Folknoren would remain State-capitalist), the Cold war was put to an end and the two German States were reunified to form the "Constitutional Union of Germany".

By the 2010s, the Bipolar order had started to die out, with various formerly humiliated or otherwise weakened countries rising to the challenge by reacquiring former territories by war or by diplomacy, but the real destruction of the bipolarity of Russia-America, none was yet aware of.

Well, now that the mandatory origin story is out of the way, let's get to the good stuff. This is a Regional roleplaying event. That means a number of the countries in the map are taken by the members. Non-members may still join in, but if only as long as they don't roleplay as the countries already taken by members of the Prime-world (or other non-member players). The list of players will be included in the following)

What you see below is a map of the Prime-world:

A set of Laws

  • Follow the traditional code of conduct. No Godmodding, no Metagaming. No Powergaming. Keep posts PG-13, etc. etc.
  • Don't post One-liners. At least five sentences is the minimum, and two paragraphs is the recommended length for each post. Long ass posts are alright, but you risk
  • the other players not reading them if they're not properly spoilered.
  • Keep OOC chatter in the RMB, the Discord channel, or (if we make one) the OOC thread
  • If you have questions about anything, ask the OP.
  • And finally, This is a strictly MT/early PMT roleplay. The latest we've gone to is really really early experimentations on Railguns and Laser weaponry. Don't bring your Space Empire, don't fight with bayonets, don't orbitally bombard another nation with ten billion nukes, etc.

It is August 6, 2018. Kaiser Georg Friedrich I is sitting in his study. His six year old son walks in, with out knocking. He was in the middle of an important thought, when his son asks a question. He asked “Are we going to see Uncle Johann?” (No relations, just the Beruns and Hohenzollerns are close friends.) The Kaiser thought about this for a moment, and then replied, “That’s what I wanted to talk to you, your siblings, and Mom about, we are going to Frievolk on a business trip, these times are troubling for that of Europe and the world. So we as monarchs, need to make international decisions that maybe frowned upon. We are going to Frievolk to develop a diplomatic plan to get all the territory our growing empires need. Just in case our plans don’t end up being supported by the foreign government we will have a back up war plan. We will be in Frievolk and see your Uncle Johann soon, Carl. Just you wait.” He and his son then walk out of the study together, and go explain the coming days to their family.

“Hello everyone, this is Augustus von Bismarck with the Channel 7 newscrew coming to you live from the Palace of Hohenzollern, where Kaiser Georg Friedrich is about to make one of his fiery speeches to the populace, and his dissenters, who are planning a protest of this speech. Now shush... The Kaiser is going to speak!”

(Everyone puts their hands on their hearts, and are silent for the traditional playing of the national anthem, after this, the Kaiser, dressed in the traditional long cape, crown, and garb, and begins to speak.)

“In the course of human events, the world’s powers will sometimes become turbulent and less stable than their smaller counterparts. When that time happens, the smaller country should make itself known as a world power.

During these turbulent times in Europe, I say that Germania should expand against the old powers of the Habsburg Realms (Austria-Hungary and Croatia), Poland-Lithuania, and France as part of the German rise to power. We must seize more of Lorraine from France, because the German minority population there claims oppression from the native French. We must claim Austria, Bohemia, and Moravia from the Habsburgs, because we need to liberate the Germans in those lands from naturally oppressive Habsburg rule. We must also seize Dalmatia from the Habsburgs to create a navy to rival that of the British. We must claim the rest of Silesia from Poland, to finally restore mainland Germania to its borders in 1914.

*vibrant cheering*

In order to protect our country from getting locked into a two front war, we will only declare on one country at a time, the war will be slow, yes, but we, the German state, will be victorious in the end!”

*The Prussian Glory March is played*

“Hello, Augustus again, I just wanted to comment on the uplifting feel of that speech, it gave me personally a sense of pride of our country’s military, and our country’s leadership.

In the distance, as you can see, there are red banners with either hammers and sickles or swatstikas heading down Hohenzollernstrauße yelling curses and death threats at the Kaiser. This is due to the recent suppression of the National Socialist and Communist Parties in the House of Commons. The Kaiser has a very hardline anti Socialist, anti Communist, and anti Nazi policy.”

*gunshots*

“Oh my god!”

“The Kaiser has been saved from a would be Communist assassin, thanks to the loyal bodyguards he has with him and his family at all times. Back to you, Johanna, at the studio.”

9th of August, 2018
Moskva, Soviet Republic

Aleksandr Lukashenko stood before the hundreds of delegates before him. Politicians, Military officers, and party officials were seated in the rows set before him. He looked out into the assembled crowd before him. This was the largest meeting of Soviet leaders in the entire history of the country. What is more, Lukashenko was delivering his speech to the Politburo on public television, which would in turn be broadcast across the world. Aleksandr was a man of uncommon origin and composure in the modern Soviet political sphere. He weathered the purges of Ligachev, along with the reformative attempts of Polozkov, and ascended to be elected by his peers as Supreme Marshal of the Soviet Republic. He then used his position to support Ligachevs successors and eventually deposed the troublesome Polozkov and the Gorbachevites through his own set of purges following his own election to positions of President and General Secretary.

Lukashenko looked forwards, and stood tall above the podium before him. The golden hammer and sickle insignia emblazoned upon it shone resplendently. Within a few minutes the Internationale began playing as the speaking amongst the politicians died down and they stood to respect it. As the anthem concluded, Lukashenko cleared his throat and began his speech.

"The world as it currently stands... is on the brink of complete chaos." He began, pausing to allow his words to sink in. "It has been 17 years since the darkest day in recent history came to pass... when troublesome nationalists, liberal saboteurs, and religious extremists threatened to tear all that the Soviet people have sacrificed so much for asunder, and they very well have nearly succeeded." His grip tightened on the podium as he stared into the cameras before him. "Comrades, in the midst of our near collapse, a thickening darkness has consumed our former allies in Eastern Europe, and even our former brothers in Belarus and the Baltics. The so-called free world threatens to ensnare and strangle the very dream this great nation was founded upon, the ideals so many a man and woman has given their lives for on the streets of Stalingrad, that ideal, that dream, is of course the international workers movement, Communism." Lukashenkos intensified tone drew sharper attention from the officials gathered before him, and likely from audiences both domestic and abroad. "My fellow proletarians, the burning torch of Socialism has not yet been snuffed out, even as darkness threatens to consume us. We must not, we can not remain in isolation. Whether we like it or not, it is only a matter of time before the foreign imperialists no longer tolerate our existence, and attempt to overtly destroy us, a harsh lesson we have learned time and time again." He leaned back, so as to regain his composure. "In This time of crisis, we cannot afford to remain idle. The German Kaiser threatens to march across Europe. Fundamentalists threaten the stability and territorial integrity of our great nation and of so many others. In our time spent licking our wounds, new foes have arisen to raise their weapons against our great nation, it's people, and the ideas it stands for. It is for this reason that sitting idly cannot be tolerated any further." The cameras came to fixate upon Lukashenkos upper body as he made his closing remarks. "Eurasia will no longer allow the imperialists and oppressors of the world run rampant upon the downtrodden and the damned. From this point on, we shall enter the fight for our rightful place as a leader amongst nations. Glory to the people, Glory to our victories to come, and Glory to the Soviet Republic!" Lukashenkos final statement was met with fanatical cheers and applause from the Politburo. While the speech itself was rather vague, it could be discerned that the likely victims of the first wave of Eurasian expansionism would likely be former Soviet Republics who had not fallen to the Red Army back in 1993.

5th of August, 2018
Palast von Weißkron, Berun

With the liberation of Susangerd in Iran, the Persian-Arabian War -which had at that point been the primary military concentration of the Empire-, finally began changing in favor the Iran. The Emperor would announce this to the public. For this to come to pass, a Conference was held in the Public Hall of the Palace of White Crown, Berun's seat to the throne. The Emperor sat on his throne, with the General Staff, the Five Secretaries, the Prime Minister, and the leaders of the States of the Confederation sitting on their own chairs.

Th Emperor, his Imperial Majesty's Government, and the audience all stood to attention as the Imperial Anthem was played. Once it was finished, the Emperor began his speech.

"It is a turbulent time we live in." He began, "Our Empire has, for the first time since, perhaps, the World War, been forced to take part in a large, multi-continental war. A trend that, of course, seems to be showing in other places of the world, including Kaiser Georg's claim in Europe Itself, not to mention the Eurasian claims on the former Soviet republics, as well as their open threat to us and all fellow sovereigns. In this time of chaos, we of the Frievolk must do as we always do. Fish in troubled waters. I announce, hereby and effectively, that the Frievolker Empire does not rescind its international claim on the territory of our Kapprovinz. We had, previously, decided to not pursue this claim in the interests of peace and cooperation, but with the African aggression against Iran's just and righteous war against the Arabian Empire, we believe it is time we took what is rightfully ours. The Empire, like any other Empire, deserves its own place under the sun, and we will push whoever would keep us from our goals out of the spotlight as violently and as aggressively as the situation merits."

11th of August, 2018
Nusantara Now TV: Broadcast from Johor Bahru, Narumasang.

Earlier this week, the Thai government announced plans for the construction of a Canal across the Kra isthmus of southern Thailand with funding and support from the People's Republic of China. The idea of a new canal to rival the Narumasang-held Malacca strait had long been an idea in Thailand, however the pledge of economic assistance from China had seemed to allow for the plan to be finally put into action. However, whilst the plan would assist in the loosening of the traffic heavy strait of Malacca and help develop the Kra region, many neighbouring nations have announced their distaste for the action. A representative from the Narumasang ministry of foreign affairs had this to say;

"The development of a Canal through the Southern Reaches of Thailand is not only unimaginable; the costs of clearing, building and maintaining such a canal itself would be far beyond anything the government in Bangkok could wish to cover in foreign debts and aid, but such an action could be considered an affront to the Kingdom of Narumasang's competence in maintaining the straits. "

Whilst there has not been an official response from the State Assembly as a whole, the relations between Bangkok and Palembang have clearly iced over due to this action. Several officials from both Bangkok and Palembang have unilaterally risen up the action however, uniting against the notion due to perceived hidden intentions of the Chinese government, comparing the action to the neocolonialism China has been participating in in Africa, consolidating it's power in the regions around the Indian Ocean.

Vinay Karamchand, Current serving premier of the Kingdom of Narumasang, was overworked yet overenthusiastic about his career. The modern state of Narumasang hadn't existed for a long time yet, only becoming free of a highly militarised dictatorship in 1967, and the inkblots of the regime's wretched work where still viewable to this day. Vinay, his predecessor, and those before him had all been tasked with one job: the reintroduction of Narumasang as a modern, emerging economical and cultural powerhouse to the wider world. Throughout the development of modern Narumasang, no crisis had managed to strike the growing nation; leading to the military of Narumasang, once forcibly made to (attempt to) rival that of India and China being reworked with little to no repercussions. those conscripted were allowed to return home, and the funding for the military was sliced to allow for the infrastructure and education of a true, modern nation. The modern age was a time of flourishing for Narumasang and little had gone wrong over the years.
In the next couple of months, that could all change.
Narumasang was facing the first external difficulty it had felt since the glorious revolution against the dictatorship: all over a glorified river. In truth, Narumasang had nothing against the Bangkok government and it's plans for a canal, in fact, the lessening of traffic could easily help the deadlock in the Malacca strait, and could actually bring more growth to the entire region as a whole. However, this was than an innocent plan address the overcrowded straits. The act is blatant: The spread of the Chinese hegemony across Asia. Beforehand, the rampant and often unpredictable nature of the previous regime had often kept Narumasang and it's neighbours out of direct meddling by the world's great powers- but this could all change. If the precedent is set that Narumasang is no more than a cardboard tiger now, the Chinese won't be the last to meddle in the affairs of South Asia. That could not be allowed to happen.

Yet, if the rampancy of one imperialist power wasn't enough in the region, there was to come another. An aide, a new hire, entered into Vinay's office to deliver a single letter. A report on actions in Europe. The German war machine was stirring, and calling in its wake. If the Kaiser was true to his words, and wanted to reclaim the borders of his dominating empire, there was soon to be more trouble on the horizon than just a simple waterway. In the first Great War, the Kingdom of Narumasang had seized the colony of German New Guinea, and was allowed to keep the territories to bring Narumasang back together again. Of course, that didn't mean that the British and Dutch colonies in the archipelago were to be returned to Narumasang, but that was besides the point. If this Kaiser was true to his words, there would be no other way about it.

"Aide, before you leave."
"Yes, Premier?"
"Prepare a delegate, establish diplomatic communications with the German Empire, and bring me an envelope. We've little to none influence or knowledge of Europe, and I feel like that should be changed, for the betterment of all nations. I wish for the opening of a permanent embassy program between us and Berlin."
"Aye, Premier."

A letter to the German Empire was sent later in the day, with a simple deal. "The Sovereign Kingdom of Narumasang, after viewing the grand display of the Kaiser, would like to open diplomatic channels with Berlin, leading to the eventual construction of an embassy program between our Nations. Would you agree to such a discussion, and possible agreement?"

The Emperor is about to give a speech to his family, ministers, the Bundesrat, the Reichstag, and a small audiance, with a lagrer audiance on television. The national anthem is played, no one speaks, and everyone has their hands on their hearts.

"People of Germania, I come to you to say, the world's governments are becoming increasingly paranoid with each other.

In regards to Emperor Johann's speech a week ago, I say that I have no intention of invading Frievolk or its territories. In fact, I would like to create an alliance with the Frievolker nation called the Siegerpakt. An emissary is on his way to discuss a summit between the German and Frievolker nations, where terms of alliance and ideology will be determined.

As of yesterday, I have got a letter from the Narumasangese government about our recent reconstruction of military might, and fears of retaking New Guinea. The Premier also stated that he was interested in establishing diplomatic relations with our nation, and the construction of a permanent ambassorial program between our nations. I have also gotten wind of a Narumasangese-Thai conflict over a canal in the Malay Peninsula.

First of all, I have decided to side with the Narumasangese on the conflict over the Kra Canal, and have placed sanctions on the Thai and Chinese. Secondly, I have no intention of retaking New Guinea, or any holdings in Asia or Oceania. Thirdly and finally, I would love the concept of a German-Narumasangese embassy program, and will open diplomatic relations. I will send an emissary to Palembang to discuss Narumasang joining the Siegerpakt.

I saw a speech made by Aleksandr Lukashenkos, the Supreme Marshal of the Soviet Republic a few days ago. I see this as an attack on empires across the world, and nothing more than a speech of socialist propaganda. I also see it as a front to spread socialism, and retake land from its neighbors, whom I will act as a prorector of the Eurasian border states."

A secret German intelligence division has been inserted into Austria-Hungary to incite a rebellion against the Habsburg government, and has been promised by the Hungarian who promised to take over after said coup. This Hungarian has promised to join the Siegerpakt, and has promised Austria, Czechia, and Dalmatia to Germany, in return for firearms, funds, and volunteers. No official military action is known of, but however, this will recieve condemnation.

Ukraine, since it's independence from the Soviet Union, had been in a state of perpetual turmoil. The initially independence-minded government in Ukraine was soon opposed by ethnic Russians and Communist hardliners in the east, the south, and within Kyiv itself. In seizing upon the turmoil, the RSFSR declared war and invaded the eastern portions of Ukraine, the latter of which had it's armed forces in a state of disorganization due to the sudden independence and differing officers and regiments having differing loyalties.

In what seemed like the end of the young Ukrainian Republic, a sudden light shone upon the young state. The Red Army, due to engaging in multiple, spread out fronts on its former republics, was spread far too thin logistically and in terms of organisation to mount an effective offensive into Kyiv and into western Ukraine over the dnieper river. The so-called 'Miracle in Kyiv' was less a rallying victory as it was so that the inoxerable advances of the Russians was finally halted. Then-Major Gavriil Fesenko managed to tie the Red Army forces down in the westernmost neighborhood of Kyiv, in Svyatoshin. Due to the logistical demands placed on other fronts of the war in Kyiv, and the arrival of reinforcements to the capital, the Red Army was forced to retreat over the river, into eastern Kyiv, which to this day remains under Eurasian control.

With the treaty of Moskva, which was a multilateral agreement between the newly born Soviet Republic and the various states which survived the onslaught of the Red Army, Ukraine was allowed to maintain its sovereignty, however it was forced to surrender all lands east of the river, including eastern Kyiv. As further insult to injury, Kyiv and a 50 km perimeter around the city was declared a demilitarized zone, along with a 20 km perimeter on both sides of the Dnieper.

The peace agreement, understandably created much unrest in Ukraine. Following the National Capital Act of 1995, the capital of Ukraine was moved to Ternopil, a move of cowardice as decried by Ukrainian nationalist groups, which in turn saw tremendous growth in membership throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2007, the Social-National Assembly, a coalition of Far-right Ukrainian political parties managed to secure 64% of the electorate in the National Rada elections. This, followed by various legal reforms, transformed Ukraine from a troubled young republic into a firmly established authoritarian state, lead by the 'Hetman', Andriy Yevhenovych Biletsky.

15:00 on 12th of August, 2018
Kyiv, Independent State of Ruthenia

In the days following Lukashenko's incendiary speech, the Ruthenian government was surprisingly silent, officially. Various politicians have made their own statements to State News organisations and western press, claiming Lukashenko to be the 'Stalin of the Modern Era, and other disparaging remarks.

Today, however, the silence was finally broken.

The perimeter of the Kyivan DMZ was largely secured by territorial markers, high fences, and guard posts. However, as of 11:00, the Ukrainian portion of the DMZ was abandoned as the border guards withdrew from their posts, and patrols on the border withdrew to the interior. As of 15:00 exactly, various Ukrainian mechanized and armored divisions began filing in through the checkpoints and moved to occupy the DMZ and Kyiv. The hopes of the Ukrainian Government was to hopefully seize the whole of demilitarised Kyiv before Eurasia could respond, these hopes, however, were in vain.

Two squadrons of SU-25's were scrambled overhead, and began reporting back to the Eurasian side of the DMZ on the encroaching Ukrainian forces. In swift response, the Red Army units stationed in nearby Brovary Military Base began rushing to the DMZ and into Kyiv. At exactly 15:46, ground units from both of the armies had met in Sevchenko and Solom'yansk. Both sides, surprised to encounter their counterparts so soon, reacted in a panic. The Ukrainian ZSU-23-4's were quickly ordered to fire upon the Eurasian jets overhead, and with a thunder of Anti-Aircraft rounds exploding high into the air, the first shots of what would become the Second Battle of Kyiv were fired.

Ternopil, Independent State of Ruthenia

While the first shots of a lengthy battle were being fired in Kyiv, Andriy Biletsky, the so-called Hetman of the Ukrainian nation, was busy at work in his office. Following the international response from Lukashenkos remarks, Andriy suddenly began to embrace the idea of increasing ties with the west, if only superficially. He composed letters to the various rulers of Austria, Frievolk, Germany, and the United Kingdom in regards to seeking a King for Ukraine. His motivations for such were questionable, Andriy rejected the return of the Romanovs in 2011 due to them being "Royalist parasites", but it seems as if his opinion has changed in seeking new ties with the west.

Germania condemns Eurasia, and pledges support to Ukraine, earlier today. The German government quickly dispatches the Rostock-based Baltic Fleet to blockade Eurasian Baltic Ports such as St. Petersburg, and the Nuremberg-based Danube Fleet to blockade the Black Sea coast. The Hohenzollern class submarines, armed with ICBMs, are dispatched to the Arctic. The Narumasangese Fleet has been asked to supply a blockade on the Eurasian Pacific Coast. The German government has supplied Ukraine with firearms, funding, and volunteer soldiers.

In a letter sent to Lushenkos from Foreign Minister Hermann Speer today, the Eurasians have been asked to stop military action in Ukraine, and the blockade on Eurasian ports will be lifted. If Eurasian Forces do not pull out of Ukraine by August 21, the German government will have no choice but to declare war on Eurasia, and all blockaded ports will be bombarded and firebombed at the stroke of midnight if Eurasian forces do not pull out of Ukraine.

In Dadu, the Khan sits in his throne room, the Palace of Golden Soldiers. The Khan is thinking about the current turmoil. On one side, he could stay non aligned, and avoid warfare. And on the other, he could lead his country to war with the more industrialized western powers on the side of Ukraine. There is always the third option, industrialize more, westernize and become a mighty Empire to rival Eurasia, but he could never westernize, there is always industrialization and advancements. The Khan decided to industrialize and stay non aligned, but will not cede to westerners. He decides to build up the military’s power and prestige.

Marwaan Patel was chosen out of the Narumasang government body to represent his country as an ambassador to the German Empire. He was still new to the world of politics, only graduating from the Royal University of Ipoh earlier this year, and his position as delegate to Berlin had come as a shock to himself, as well as to the more veteran members of government. Nevertheless, Marwaan was still personally dedicated to fully accepting his mission, and become the first ambassador to a major European power from Narumasang since the cancellation of the Narumasangese Embassy in London, in 1932. Marwaan himself was currently on route to Berlin from the city of Jayapura, in the North Papua regency of Narumasang, where he was stationed as the previous governor of the city. The flight would be long and tiring, but the government had equipped his flight with a VIP suite to cover the inconvenience. The plane would travel across the entire globe, only stopping in Dubai to refuel before continuing on its journey, and then he could get down to business in addressing the governments of Europe on behalf of his home.
His plane would be shot down mere hours after take-off from Jayapura.

Chaos today in the assembly in Palembang as reports are confirmed of Naruair flight 13 being confirmed lost with all hands after it's shootdown by the Chinese Air Force whilst supposedly breaching Chinese airspace above the contested Spratly Islands. Chinese military officials insist the flight was accessing the closed airspace in the Spratly islands without authorisation, and "refused to alter it's course after considerable effort by the [Chinese] Air force to redirect the flight.". The Chinese Armed forces further responded with "The destruction of a private airliner has been a military blunder, and we offer our deepest condolences to the families involved in the incident, however we must stand by our territorial claims, as the plane was in Chinese territories without proper authorisation."
Narumasang is unilaterally condemning the action as "near enough a declaration of war" though why Flight 13 had redirected it's course sufficiently enough to cross the contested no fly zone instead of following the original flightpath has still been left up to debate.
The incidence has been catalogued as another disaster in the conflict over the Spratly Islands, which have been contested as rightful territory of both China and Narumasang, as well as the nearby nations of Thailand and the Philippines. However, Narumasang activists have claimed that the apparent increase in military presence by China in the Spratly islands to be linked to the Chinese push for influence in South Asia, specifically linked to the Chinese support of the construction of the Kra Canal in South Thailand. Whilst the situation with the Kra Canal had not fully escalated between Thailand and Narumasang, the actions of the Canal's sponsor are sure to up tensions in the regions.

"A military blunder, al right. They damn near set fire to the whole gulf!"
Vinay Karamchand, current serving premier of Narumasang, Commander-in-chief of the Narumasangese Royal army, and officially exhausted. He had spent the last days organising press conferences, diplomatic missions and international telegrams in the vain attempt to secure Narumasang's position on the world stage, and hopefully garner some support for the Narumasangese cause to secure it's influence in bordering nations, to little to no outcome. All had been looking up for his diplomatic efforts with the approval of an embassy program with Germania, and even the possibility of an (so what far-fetched) alliance, until the main diplomat he had sent to confirm all of this had been shot down. Not only would the death of the first modern ambassador from Narumasang be a permanent stain on the diplomatic reputation of Narumasang in the international community, it could possibly take weeks to arrange another mission to Germania, with half of that time probably falling to convincing the next ambassador chosen for the job that he too wouldn't be killed in his service. Alas, he could only hope for the safety of a German Ambassador, though with the news of further conflict in the Ukraine, who knew if a similar action would not befall the German Ambassadors trip to Palembang. He had spent the past half hour attempting to rest in his office before attempting to consolidate the situation, when he heard the news of the destroyed flight.

In truth, there was little he could do. A direct military response by Narumasang would earn the condemnation of China and it's allies, and the quick annihilation of Narumasang. In any offensive operation, the Royal Navy of Narumasang was the pride of Narumasang, and the strongest component of it's Armed forces, would be destroyed by the sheer capacity of the Chinese fleets. The allegiance of Narumasang to Germania and it's allies could possibly bring some semblance of military and diplomatic power to his side, but that could possibly lead to the Narumasangese inclusion in conflicts in Eurasia, which, even if the Pacific capabilities of Eurasia could possibly be dampened by the need for manpower in the European theatre, the spreading of the Royal Navy across the Eurasian Pacific would leave Narumasang exposed to further Chinese intervention. The only possible thing left to do, is to consolidate and brace for the worst. There is little Narumasang can do without western support on the matter, and as such, all that's possible is to prepare for when it can. The orders are given, the messages sent. Let this global game of chess continue.

"The preparations for a second flight for the second ambassador to Germania are to be followed. Until the arrival of the Narumasangese Diplomat to Berlin, and the German Emissary to Palembang, diplomacy shall continue to be held through long-range letters, telegrams and secure channels. However, Narumasang does not seek membership into the German Siegerpakt at the current moment, though would accept a position of "Observer" in the faction, if so inclined. Internationally, Narumasang wishes to continue expanding its diplomatic endeavours with the West, and further encourages the opening of Diplomatic channels with Europe and the Americas.
An official statement of condemnation to the Chinese governments for it's actions in the South China sea and Thai Gulf. No official statement on the Ukrainian or Eurasian actions across the (Dniepr) DMZ would be released, due to the uncertainty of actions in the region.
Militarily, The Narumasang Royal Navy is to be brought to ready status, and resume lax patrols of the Narumasang territories in the Nusantaran Archipelago and surrounding areas, as a precautionary measure against any possible further actions in the region. Majulah, Narumasang.

Adolf Speer was appointed ambassador to Narumasang earlier today by Kaiser Georg and is currently on his way to Palembang, flying from Berlin to Johannesburg, and then Johannesburg to Palembang, in order to avoid the Chinese Military who shot down Marwaan Patel’s plane earlier today. He is due to arrive in Palembang tomorrow at around 10 am.

Update:
Adolf Speer has arrived in Palembang.
The Operation in Austria is going well, the Hungarians are ready to setup a coup.
At this point, the German Government has not officially declared war, but the military is on standby for Eurasia. Volunteers are currently fighting for Ukraine-Ruthenia, against Eurasia.

Due to the Ukraine-Ruthenian demand for a noble, the House of Hohenzollern has sent a brother of the Kaiser, King Alfred of Bavaria, to Ukraine-Ruthenia to try and create a popular petition for the House of Hohenzollern to rule in Ukraine, which if he is elected Emperor, will henceforth be known as the Empire of Ruthenia.

Palast von Weißkron, Berun

"Much has happened in the last two weeks, gentlemen" The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jerome Weismann, began his explanation to the Committee for International Crises. "It is a turbulent time we live in, as His Majesty expressed. China, Siam, and Narumasang seem to be one step away from war -one that would be catastrophic for our interests in South East Asia-, and the there seems to be no method to the Madness of the German Empire. What is it you propose we do?"

"Well, for one thing, we need to ensure that the Hohenzollerns don't get the Ukrainian throne." Kaiser Johann said offhandedly. "We'll also need to prepare our military for intervention in Eurasia or Austria, if the Germans continue their plans of throwing Europe in chaos for the want of a nail." his Grand Marshal added helpfully.

The four began discussing matters of various importance until the sun had started to set, and left the Chamber of the Committee to their official duties once again.

Respected and esteemed Hetman of the Ukrainian Nation,

The Empire has received your proposal for the creation of an Ukrainian Throne. While, at least to our knowledge, there has never been a royal line borne in Ukraine, we are willing to accept the creation of a such royal line for this new Kingdom, of course so long as they pledge to be in a mutually beneficial relationship with us, support us and accompany us in our mission for a stable Europa that I am sure is the common goal of us both.

The Imperial House of Berun will, in a day following this missive, send His Highness Hans, currently the second in line to the Imperial throne of Frievolk and the Prince of Frievolk for our bid for the to-be-formed Throne of Ukraine.

We wish you a bountiful year and good fortune for the ages to come.

Signed,
Jerome Weismann
Secretary of Foreign Affairs

Countersigned,
Johann von Berun
Emperor of Frievolk

And four hours later, Prince Hans, currently the Grand Duke of Brabant-Limburg, would board a plane towards Ruthenia.

The Kaiser is with Großfeldmarschall Hermann von Hohenzollern-Sigmarnen-Gottorp, a distant cousin of his, discussing a possible official intervention in Ukraine.

Georg: "Well, we have two volunteer divisions there already, but I see a problem with an official declaration of war on Eurasia; they're a superpower, and we don't have enough men to make a serious attempt against the Eurasians. I think that we should try to draft another division of volunteers, and send them to fight with the Ukrainians."

Hermann: "That's actually not why I'm here. Have you ever thought about expanding the empire, creating colonies on other continents, and Africa is a perfect target for this. We shouldn't attack Frievolker South Africa, but the Barbary Coast, Gulf of Guinea, Horn of Africa, and Congo Basin are open to invasion. Not like the Arabs and Africans are going to put up a decent defense any way."

Georg: "Wouldn't the Americans get involved eventually. Even the Eurasians, British, or Frievolkers, might get involved. But I think the latter two will benefit from us fighting them, and join in with us, creating a new age of powers."

Hermann: "Can we do it, invading Africa I mean?"

Georg: "Yes. Dispatch the Kreigsmarine to divert from blockading Eurasian ports to the Gulf of Guinea, Barbary Coast, and send them up the Congo River, prepare for an amphibious assault on the Horn of Africa, set for the 21st at 11:00, the Barbary Coast at 12:00, Guinea at 13:00, and the Congo at 14:00. I expect an easy and quick victory, Großfeldmarschall. You are hereby in charge of all fronts in Africa. I promote you to the temporary position of Afrikakommandant. I will have Großfeldmarschall Bormann take charge of the volunteers in Ukraine, until we have carved our claim in Africa."

Hermann: "Aye!"

Georg: "Also, withdraw the troops from Austria, we don't need a two front war."

Hermann: "Ok."

After this conversation with now Afrikakommandant H.S.G., the Kaiser writes a letter to the Frievolker Emperor Johann I and Narumasangese King Araybhutta II asking for a deal. It said:

'Dearest fellow monarchs,
I wish to discuss a matter of varying importance, Africa. I wish to carve Africa into several sections, each owned by different countries, I wish that the Siegerpakt, whether an actual member or an observer, get together to discuss the African Partition, the Canal Crisis, and Ukraine, among other things. The meeting will take place in the Kristallkranz Palaz, in Berlin, on the 21st. I wish to see you there.

Highest Regards, Kaiser Georg Friedrich I of the German Empire.'

August 20th, 2018
State Kremlin Palace, Moskva

The past few days had been hectic for the Soviet government. The sudden skirmishes in Ukraine, prompted various voices from the communist party to make themselves heard. In the streets of Moskva, in the Kremlin, and even on the floor of the Supreme Soviet, the developing situation in the west was creating quite the controversy in the party.

"If the Kaiser of Germany wants a war, then a war he shall get!" bellowed Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a prominent figure in the more hawkish circles of the politburo. It was highly likely that he had some to do with the increasing military presence around eastern Ukraine and the pushing for a harder policy on the nascent Fascist state. "We shall smash the Fascists holding our Ukrainian brothers in bondage, and we shall smash the sabre-rattling Reich that supports them!" He slammed his fist on his desk for emphasis. He had a tendency to resort to these theatrical quips on the floor.

"And in this rash action, begin a Third World War?" Quipped Aleksandr Rutskoi, a more Pro-Westernising figure in the party. He was born in southern Ukraine prior to the Great Tragedy of 1991, and with the initial fall, he and his family fled east into Stalingrad, and resettled in Russia proper. Despite his familial and personal past of military service, Rutskoi became a rising star within the party during the later 2000s for his detente proposals with the west, along with his advocacy to increase the Soviet Republic's role in the world through more peaceful means. "We cannot respond with the Kaiser's brand of gunboat diplomacy and strongmanning with our own in kind. While it is likely a burst of hot air, we should not risk provoking another world war. Not over Ukraine. We will, through changing our military's position to a more peaceful stance, show the world that the Soviet Republic is dedicated to the preservation of peace."

From the centre of the floor, Aleksandr Dugin, a prominent figure within nationalist groups in the Soviet Republic took the podium in the midst of the various screaming matches. "All you lot are screaming as children!" Dugin yelled, commanding attention from the room. "What Russia needs," He began. Dugin and his 'National Bolsheviks' referred to Eurasia as Russia, in rejection of the states internationalist connotations. "is to remain strong in the face of this great adversity. I will not delude you, the Germans are a formidable lot, with a growing military and with their agents lurking in the courts of almost every capital, but should we hold true and firm, we shall prevail." He gestured to Rutskoi. "This man and his lackeys are blatantly lying to you. Frievolk would not support a German invasion of Eurasia, in fact nor would most of the international community. Just as they have forrsaken fascist Ruthenia, they will forsake the belligerent Germans should they follow through with their threats." Dugin looked outwards towards the assembled groups before him. "The brave Russian nation must remain firm in these trying times. Lest, we suffer and fail."

In the room down the hall, was one of the offices of Aleksandr Lukashenko, the undisputed leader of Eurasia, was contemplative. "Gennady, we cannot back down in Ukraine." He looked down into his coffee cup, which he gripped with both hands. Gennady Zyuganov, close friend of Lukashenko and prominent member of the Communist Party, was leaned against the wall, with his arms crossed, looking out at the portraits of Soviet leaders past behind Lukashenko. What would Ligachev do? He pondered internally. Yegor Ligachev was the previous President of the Soviet Republic, and also the General Secretary. He was personally responsible for the resurrection of the Soviet Republic and the very founding of modern Eurasia. Yegor, however, retired from politics many a year ago, and hoped to open the government posts to more open elections. Unfortunately for him, a certain Marshal of the Red Army was elected into both positions.

"No, we cannot." His gaze shifted to the small glass cup in his hand, filled half-way to the top with vodka. Zyuganov, much playing into the stereotype, had a moderate alcohol problem, although he maintains that it helps him keep a level head. "To retreat now would display to the western world that we are nothing but a paper tiger. I tell you, my friend, what we should do is respond in kind."

Lukashenko peered up. "FIre upon German vessels? Provoke a war? Formally invade Ruthenia?" His brows were furrowed in frustration.

"Not quite. You see, the Germans, while they throw this cloak of belligerence, have little to no support for their war should they pursue it. They are likely desperately seeking allies in Frievolk, Narumasang, and other neighboring powers. We see this in Ruthenia's actions as well." He took a sip from his cup, not even flinching from the taste. "Andriy Biletsky, Kaiser Georg, these men are cut from the same, delusional, cloth. They are rabid nationalists, imperialists, and such desperately clawing for support in a world which has long abandoned these ideas."

Lukashenko nodded. "Yes... you are right. What we should be doing is dispatching diplomatic missions to Frievolk, Narumassang, and other nations across the world, especially those such as Austria... who seem to be directly threatened by German ambitions." Lukashenko nodded again. "Yes, this must be our course. We must stand firm, maintain our positions in Ukraine, and hold against the Germans."

Ternopil, Independent State of Ruthenia

Since the skirmishes, the political scene of Ternopil had become rather lively as well. With the looming spectre of war hanging over Europe in general and Ruthenia in particular, Hetman Biletsky had become shut-in to his office, allowing only few advisors to meet with him.

"My Hetman," Field Marshal Stephan Poltorak stood at the doorway, with his arms crossed behind him in a respectful gesture. "The situation in the east has thus far been stable, but we cannot sustain a campaign against the Eurasians. Luckily, the German Kaiser has taken to supporting us on the international stage, and has begun to offer military support." He walked in and shut the door behind him. "In addition, preparations are being made across the city to welcome the prospective monarchs. Germany, Frievolk, and Austria are currently the most prominent candidates internationally."

Biletsky looked out the window behind him, at the city of Ternopil lain before him. "Sustain the pressure in the East." He commanded. He then turned towards Poltorak. "Also, gather the Senate. They will need to be in session if we are hoping to select a monarch."

Across central Ukraine, the battles had become intense. The Ukrainians had been pushed onto the defensive following their expulsion from Kyiv. The city itself sustained moderate damage from days-long bombing campaigns, artillery strikes, and intense firefights in the city streets, and left streams of refugees fleeing east and west. In the far south, the Soviet fleet stationed in Sevastopol began to act in response to the attempted German blockade by sitting 75km across from the ships to harass them with blank shots. The navy took similar actions near Leningrad, although the Azov fleet began to escort one of the last unharassed trade routes to the rest of Europe, and were given orders to fire upon the first sight of German hostiles.

Eurasia sat upon the brink of crisis, but she would not bend.

To the average onlooker, Narumasang seemed like a quaint, large country. A great tourist destination, the producer of half of the clothes in your wardrobe; sure, there was some controversy over some canal in Thailand, but so far the only tragedy had been that of a seemingly unrelated plane being shot down over a separate crisis in a set of pointless islands. The world had seen much worse, and was not interested, especially with such a daring conflict currently brewing in Europe. To the average onlooker, the situation was contained to some damn foolish thing in South-East Asia, and wouldn't spread much from there. Oh how the world watched, and how wrong it was.

20th August, 2018
West Peninsula Coast, Narumasang.
the RS Setia was a small coastal patrol ship registered under the Narumasang Royal Navy. built in 1984, It was currently outdated, and whilst the Royal Navy was as modern an armada could be, no fully modernised navy could properly police and guard the cosmic amount of coastline and sovereign water Narumasang held, hence the continued service of smaller, out of date ships. The latest actions in the game of politics have called for a general naval mobilisation in Narumasang, and for good reason. If the rumours amongst the upper echelons of society were to be believed, the "Accidental" targetting of Narumasangese politicians, the support of interests against those of Narumasang and the general silence and evasiveness of Chinese diplomats are all linked in a Chinese ploy to undermine and isolate Narumasang as to further expand Chinese Influence into the southern regions of Asia, whom were under the Narumasangese sphere prior the removal of Narumasang's fascist government. And, if those rumours were to be believed to the letter, the Chinese would not back down, and we're prepared for the inevitable. Normally, in these kinds of situations, long term rivals of China, such as India and Japan, would come running to find a flaw in the Chinese plot or find some other way to prevent the spread of Chinese dominance in Asia, but what could they do? On the outside, all the Government in Beijing have done is support and develop Thailand with what could only help the global markets, and defend their territory as they have for the past 20 years. There was simply no direct neighbour to stop China, and as such the Royal Navy was to be kept at full readiness, in case the unthinkable truly happened. Of course, Diplomacy was also called to service, and the Government in Palembang has been searching for outer forces to ensure the survival of Narumasang, and had even found possible keen supporters abroad. Of course, if that was enough to deter China was yet to be tested, so the military continue to be supported.
Setia bobbed without purpose across the west coast of the Malay Peninsula, lazily watching across the open ocean for any military vessels. Of course, the Setia wouldn't see any- Beijing is playing smart, they wouldn't openly move in an act of war. The worse they could come across is an angered fishing boat, complaining about the Setia's motors stealing away the day's catch. It was almost funny- Like the fishing boat, Narumasang just wanted to protect its catch, its source of income, and here came the Setia, it's goals in truth unrelated to the fishing boat, just wanting to pass through, yet they were disturbing the peace. Of course, on the Setia no man wanted to take over the fishing boat's village and take their fish. Maybe the Chinese didn't want anything from Narumasang either, maybe this whole conflict was a misunderstanding? Maybe. Maybe.

Adolf Speer's arrival in Palembang was just so at the same time as the departure of Gagan Bajpai, the newly appointed diplomat to Germany. Upon his arrival, Mr. Speer would be brought to his government appointed residency for his stay. A sign of good faith, the Royal Assembly of Narumasang had granted Adolf personal quarters in the Zuraar Royal Hotel, neighbouring the State Istana the multi-building complex housing the Royal Assembly. As the greeting party for the diplomat makes its leave after escorting Adolf to the Royal, one of the men from the greet leaves Adolf with an invitation.
Dearest Ambassador:
The Royal Assembly of Narumasang wishes to invite you to talks with the Minister of Foreign Relations, Zalim Kapudia on the 24th of August, 2018 at the newly constructed German Embassy in Palembang to discuss the possibility of German Involvement in Narumasang's national security and other matters, should you bring them up. Please await an escort to the embassy at 3am.
Regards, the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Re: Siegerpakt meeting at Kristallkranz Palaz

Dear esteemed highness Georg Friedrich I, Emperor of the German Empire and rightful ruler of all Germans, I wish to inform you of our acceptance of your invitation, as an observer of the Siegerpakt, to meet in the Kristallkranz Palace to discuss the global events that currently involve our respective nations. However, on behalf of the Royal Assembly of Narumasang, would like to express our collective distaste at your proposal to reinstall the principle of Colonialism in our modern world. Surely, we as a people have gone past needing to enslave others against our will for resources? I hope you say so just in jest, but other than that I'd be honoured to attend a meeting at the famed Kristalkranz itself.

However, as you probably understand, as the ruling monarch of Narumasang it would be unwise and unneeded for me to leave my nation amongst the current turmoil in Asia. Instead, I would like for the newly appointed ambassador, Gagan Bajpai, to attend in my heed as a representative of Narumasang and her people. Hopefully such a meeting of the minds can bring the nations attending together, and help discuss and fix the many issues that plague our modern world.
May I wish you eternal happiness and salvation on behalf of the people of Narumasang.
