Great war of the Countries Pt.4 (IC)

[Mersdon]

Oppermenian commanders anticipate an attack by south acres, since they shot down three sa planes.
They tell all of their units to be on high alert. See any south acrenese planes or vessels people, then take military action against them.

The Taschist Strategic Rocket Force, armed with 305 ICBMs and 1,200 rockets, opens its silos and bunkers. One battery of 40 mobile Titan III missiles is deployed from their base in Kosice and launch their payload of VX nerve gas and Sarin towards Oppermanson. (OOC: If chemical weapons aren’t permitted at this stage, act like this never happened. This attack is to be the final catalyst for the civil war.)

In addition, the Taschist Navy, in all of its strength, attempt to sink the Second Mersidonian Fleet and the five nuclear submarines off of Romania. The entire Taschist Fleet is sunk within four hours of battle being joined, whilst the Mersidonians take no casualties.

The Second Fleet prepares to land the Imperial Fifth Army along the Danubian shoreline. They push in deep, but are halted after taking all Taschist territory east of the Danube.
(OOC: KT and I have agreed on this.)
In the meantime, Mersdon mobilizes the Imperial Air Force from its bases in Oppermenia and on its massive fleet in the region and attempts to secure aerial superiority across Kurvi-Tasche. The Emperor approves the aerial dropping of arms and supplies to the Hungarian rebels. In addition, three brigades of Purple Berets, the Imperial Army’s paratroopers, land in Budapest and take over the abandoned Suryakese positions. The rebels are armed with the abandoned arms left behind, and begin pushing out the Taschists, linking Budapest with Lake Balaton, Sopron, and Estergom under the Royal Hungarian flag. The Regency Council, formed in Budapest due to the lack of a leader sends out feelers to all of the democratic and friendly monarchist nations of the world to ask for a candidate for the Crown of St. Stephen. (OOC: KT and I have also agreed on this course of action.)

The Mersidonian missile defense system, nicknamed the “Iron Shield”, was activated across Mersdon and put on a war footing. They manage to destroy or divert the missiles, causing few casualties. In response, the nuclear submarines on the Black Sea launch two ICBMs each, for a total of ten missiles, towards South Acren. Inside are two fifty-gallon canisters full of a weaponized aerosol-delivered smallpox virus, for use against all military installations. The paratroopers in the Philippines are supported by the Imperial Air Force and the Imperial Navy, increasing their effectiveness.

[South Acren]

Csaszar Rolo is relaxing in his master bedroom when Haskil bursts through the door. "My lord, you need to read this!" he says as he hands him a news article :

WAR IN NORTH AMERICA!

Earlier today, South Acrenese scout planes flew over the Democratic Socialist States of Oppermenia. The planes were soon shot down. This triggered war between the Militaristic Republic of South Acren and Oppermenia. Kommandant Rommel announced that South Acren would sever any relations with the WAU and other allies of Oppermenia.

Reports show that Oppermenia would not and could not survive against an Acrenese invasion as the Militaristic Republic leads a dwarfing number of military personal over their northern counterparts. South Acren is sees as a threat and many nations have began to take arms against it. An anti Acrenese poster has spread throughout Dyllonia. The picture features Acrenese President Eisenhower and Imperator Dyllonus. Dyllonus is slicing off the head of Eisenhower with the Sword of Authority ; but instead of "Imperium Semptierium" on the sword, it reads "Justice and Liberty".

"Oh, gods," Rolo mutters, "This will mean war has finally returned,"

MEANWHILE

Prime Minister Andy Rose is soon bombarded with reporters. "Mr. Rose, what do you say about the upcoming war?"

Rose steps back, Magnam Ferrum at his side keeping the reporters from coming too close, "Dyllonia has taken note on the actions done by Kommandant Rommel and South Acren and the Birodalom of Dyllonia will honor it's WAU membership and declare a defensive war on South Acren"

Rommel reads about this and laughs. "So be it..."
Five ICBMs (Non Nuclear) are launched towards Dyllonia. Meanwhile shore based cannons start firing on the Draosian Fleets. The second wave of fighters fly over the Oppermenian base and drop their incindiary bombs.

[South Acren]

Meanwhile the SAN Fleets meet the fleet sent by Mersdon and start bombarding the enemy ships. On a submarine two HE torpedoes are launched towards a Battleship.

[Persia-Kebabistan]

The Shah closes off the Bosporus so Persia does not get embroiled in Kurvi-Tasche's conflict. This also means that ships can not pass through the Bosporus.

[Persia-Kebabistan]

The Shah begins his plan to retake Istanbul. Persian soldiers sneak to areas north of Istanbul and pour chemicals into streams that flow into Istanbul. This will make people fall asleep upon drinking the water. They try looking for ways to get in, but the anarchists sealed off the entire European half of the city. A soldier buys a drone from a toy store and flies it into the city to spy and look for weaknesses. However, there will not be many weaknesses as the anarchists have scanned the city.

[South Acren]

Rommel sends thousands of the newly made XM1 Fox MBT reenforce the southern border to prevent an attack from Rakdai.

[Mersdon]

The Emperor declares his willingness to declare war on South Acren in defense of its ally Oppermenia. In Parliament, a bill to send two divisions of peacekeeper mechanized riflemen is passed unanimously. The IGSN,which is still stationed in Iceland, is placed on high alert and is deployed to the Philippines (covertly. OOC: SA please don’t fight the unit yet; this is to develop the storyline.) IC: The First Fleet sails from Antwerp, where it had been conducting repairs and refresher training, and heads towards the South Acrenian homelands. The paratroopers already on the Philippine Islands begin skirmishing with SA militiamen and attempt to seize Puerto Princess and Manila.

IC: Rommel hears of the declaration of war and laughs. "You want some too? Well come get some!"
Five ICBMs (Non Nuclear) are launched towards the Mersdon mainland, their targets being the most populated cities. Meanwhile radar picks up the fleet heading towards SA and Three SAN Fleets are sent to meet it. They also have 10 newly finished Super Battleships (Draos, They only have two extra turrets and slightly more armor. Don't complain).

OOC: I haven’t declared war on you yet, but you attacked me.
IC: “Due to the unprovoked missile attacks on innocent Mersidonian civilians, the Emperor has given Imperial Assent to a Parliamentary bill declaring war on South and North Acren. The Third and Fourth Fleets, based in Oppermanson and Bruges, have deployed to the Second Fleet’s location as we have just received reports that the majority of the fascist fleet has engaged them in battle. The Imperial Government, as of five minutes ago, has ordered the evacuation of all of its citizens and property, whilst offering the same chance for the Acrenians residing in Mersdon in exchange. The Benedict-on-Sea stock market shot up exponentially upon the news of the missile defense success and of the increased spending pledged by the Imperial Government to counter inflationary panic. The Home Army has begun re-arming, and the Belgian Armed Forces have been put on the highest alert possible. In the meantime, the draft has been temporarily reinstated. Please check your papers for the nearest draft office. The communal nuclear bunkers installed everywhere by the Imperial Government have come in handy during the SA missile attack, as can be seen by our reporters in the town of Busan; however, this war is much more chancy than the stalemate with the Persians in the Netherlands. Speaking of Persia, the Turkish Straits were closed off to the world’s fleets by the Persian military. The Foreign Ministry has sent some of their best career diplomats to negotiate their re-opening to the Imperial Navy, according to Persian sources. If that does not come to pass, the Army in Romania and the Second Fleet could be starved out, which would most likely force the Imperial Government to force the Straits, alongside the Netherlands, which is vulnerable to the 400,000 strong armies deployed along their border. This possibility would be a catastrophe for Persia as well as the world, which would distract at such a crucial moment in the struggle against fascism. We pray for victory. We brace for defeat. However, although they blow up, the damage control team manages to seal off the damage and keep the battleship fighting. Seeing an advantage, three destroyers depth-charge the submarines. Two battlecruisers, the HMMS Oranje and the Holbrooke engage one of the Acrenian super battleships, bombarding the gun turrets and the bridge. After the bombardment, both cruisers close in and attempt to instigate a boarding action.

[Oppermenia]

As tensions with SA rise, Oppermenian King and Premier Mitchell I of House Opperman gets nervous. He quickly eases, though. They have allies, powerful ones.
Ones that, working together, can defeat South Acren. But, his citizens might freak out.
So, he goes to the sweethearts of the nation, the royal couple his son Kevin and Kevin’s wife Ionia Krai. Since the nation loves them, he tells them to make more public appearances and tv appearances to distract Oppermenian citizens from tensions.
And so, Prince Kevin and Princess Consort Ionia Krai do an interview with the most mainstream channel the Oppermenian Broadcasting Company (OBC). This gets the nation to focus a bit more on Kevin and Ionia so they don’t panic due to war tensions.

[South Acren]

The Second Fleet responds in kind. The torpedoes hit the battleship, one particular HMMSThresher. However, although they blow up, the damage control team manages to seal off the damage and keep the battleship fighting. Seeing an advantage, three destroyers depth-charge the submarines. The Submarine sinks and damage is done to the SuperHeavy Battleship Lexington. However 3 of it's guns still work and continue pounding the Battle cruisers. Meanwhile a jet screams towards the HMMSThresher and releases it's 1000 lbs bomb directly onto the bridge.

[Dyllonia]

As the 5 missiles come Dyllonia's way, the Armada takes notice. Daniel Boucher sends The Predator to destroy them. The Predator stands in their path and takes 4 hits before bursting into flames and meeting Davy Jones.

The Fourth finds it's way to Dyllonia.

NASHVILLE TENNESSEE, SOUTH ACREN

Dyllonic-Acrenese citizen Micheal Carrel finds his family in a hidden annex. He was a Dyllonic immigrant, but a worker nevertheless. He worked in South Acren, payed taxes, and even swore loyalty to South Acren. Yet he was in danger. If the government ever found out he was here, he'd be deported or worse, killed. His family was Acrenese, but they were all in danger. He had made a few friends in Nashville, all whom he loved dear. They offered him help, they would give the Carrell's food and supplies until Tennessee was liberated. One thing he knew in the annex, there would be no music in the Music City for a while.


TORONTO CANADA, OPPERMENIA

Many Dyllonic-Acrenese refugees flee to the Canadian border, where they join up in a militia under Oppermenia. David Rózsa wields the old Dyllonic flag, the Harpy Eagle clutching the Sword of Authority inside gray bars. His party of 99 men took a trip to the recruiting office.

Rózsa began "I'd like to assign me and a few of my friends as a volunteer army," he said, "Those damn Akkies won't whip themselves", he smiled. (an "Akkie" is a Dyllonic slang term given to Acrenese. Similar to "Brit" or "Yank")

Citizens in Canadian Oppermenia that aren't soldiers even begin to rally amongst themselves to join in on the fight.

Armed with AUG Steyr rifles, sabres, and Colt .45s, the boarding crews from both of the battlecruisers hooked their ships to the Lexington. The first wave attempted to take the forward batteries, whilst the others scattered in knots around the ship, creating havoc. The Captains on board the Holbrooke and the Oranje figured that the South Acrenians could not damage their ships, for to do so would mean the death of the Lexington due to the boarding action.

The Thresher’s bridge was shattered by the blast. 55 officers and men were blown up by the bomb, forcing the ship to retreat to friendly Bermuda for repairs. In the meantime, the Second Fleet’s two nuclear carriers (IRL similar to the Nimitz-class) launched their fighters, engaging the Acrenian Air Force. They fend off most of the bombers attacking their fleet, but are beleaguered, since they are within 500 miles of Acrenian New York City and thousands of miles away from Europe. The Second Fleet asks for help from the Dyllonic military in Bermuda (it having been a part of the UK).

OOC: Don't go after my capital. If you do, it will remain intact. It's already been kind of destroyed and rebuilt once. Also, the capital isn't in Canada, so … Let's not escalate this too quickly. I may have to go to bed soon, and I will be busy tomorrow. I kind of want my allies an opportunity to get on and help defend, because if it's just me against you, then that'll be kind of unfair, as you have a way bigger population than me.

Rózsa's Unauthorized Regiment (Harry Turtledove nod there) joins in the Fight on the Opperemenians side in Canada. The entire army consist of Dyllonics, some Dyllonic-Acrenians, others direct volunteers from Dyllonia. Colonel David Rózsa (Self assigned of course) has an army wearing mostly traditional Dyllonic Military clothing (David even has a picklehaube).

The Dyllonic Brigade allies itself with the Oppermenians, or "Wolvies" they nickname them, against the Akkies.r

9 hours after the declaration of war against South Acren went into effect, forty C-17 Globemaster transport jets and their cargo of 2,500 White Berets (the joint Oppermenian/Mersidonian rapid response force) landed all over Hawaii. Supported by the Imperial Seventh Fleet’s guns and by five Benedict fighter-bomber squadrons, they occupy all seven islands, and attempt to seize each island’s ports. After steaming towards Hawaii for twenty days, the Fourth and Eighth Infantry Divisions’ troopships disgorge their cargo of 10,000 soldiers in Hilo, Honolulu, and Kaua’i. In the meantime, five Boeing 777-300ER jetliners wearing Mersidonian military decals touch down at Vancouver International Airport. Inside is a half-brigade of the Imperial Foot Guard. Wearing two-foot tall bearskin shakos, light grey greatcoats with gilded turquoise facings, tall black Hessian boots, and white riding gloves, they are the epitome of a Mersidonian soldier. They are quick-marched to the town of White Rock to help the Oppermenian Army push back the Acrenian infantry opposite them. They are led by Lieutenant Colonel Jan van Oranje, a decorated career soldier and hero in the Elkspack War.

The First fleet begins cutting off the ever critical mouth of the Mississippi river having not faced Challenge from the Acrenese Navy while the Second tries to occupy the Straight of Florida to make sure no reinforcements can enter the Gulf.

[Persia-Kebabistan]

Istanbul is retaken from the anarchists and eventually Thrace is cleansed of them. The anarchists are no longer a threat.

While the city was damaged, it was not damaged as much as expected. In a state of lawlessness, most people tend to stay together and defend themselves rather than commit crime. The Shah takes part in an effort to rebuild Istanbul.

OOC: Suryak allowed me to do this.

In New Parsa City, Shahpur Daryoush meets with one of the Mersdonian diplomats. He explains that while the Shah, Shahbanu, and Shahpur have absolute control over Persia, they do not have absolute control over Turkey, for while the Shah controls Turkey as its ruler, some powers are devolved to the regional democratic Turkish government based in Istanbul. In order to make a deal on the Turkish Straits, the diplomat will have to meet with the Shah, the President of Turkey (who also happens to be the Shahbanu), and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in Istanbul since it involves Turkey. The Shahpur lets the diplomat know that since this is urgent business, a plane is already ready to fly to Istanbul and the GNA is about to convene for it.
