Since the inception Department of National Development, Secretary Amar Sonar has been vocal about his support for doing away with the Federal capital gains tax. In mid-December, Secretary Sonar co-sponsored a bill in the House of Representatives which would formally do away with the tax, which today has now finally reached the desk of President Bhandari, who stated he would sign the bill into law.


Secretary Sonar sat down with Sikkim Express reporter Singar Dayal earlier today. "The investor class will be an integral part of a well functioning Panjali economy, and investors' decisions are highly influenced by the tax system in which they operate," Sonar said. "And with an elimination of the capital gains tax, the value of stocks will see a near immediate boost."

Belgrade - Crown Prince Karl Wilhelm of Bavaria, the brother of Otto III and heir to the title of Grand Protector of the Union, arrived in Belgrade, Vojvodina this morning alongside his wife. The Crown Prince made his trip for publicity purposes among rumors of his older brother's health concerns.

The Crown Prince arrived in Belgrade via private jet and was greeted by the crowds of his adoring future subjects. The Crown Prince, who has been accused by the unfaithful opposition as "a bourgeoisie Germanic elite", disproved the rumors by addressing his vision for a truly federal union.

"The Gold Union of the Danube is the model of multicultural and multiethnic federations, a shining example of how people from various backgrounds are united under the same flag, the same monarch, the same constitution. We are truly a special state, a nation of nations, and this is what makes our Union so beautiful."

On the tarmac, the Crown Prince saluted the troops of the Union Guard before being handed a bouquet of flowers by two Vojvodinian girls. The Crown Prince rode in a convertible car to downtown Belgrade, waving to the cheering, flag-waving crowds as he passed by.

During his trip to Vojvodina, the Crown Prince will visit a homeless shelter, a grain and tobacco farm, the Ducal Commissioner and the President of the Government of Vojvodina, a metallurgy, an elementary school, an orphanage, and an animal shelter. He will also meet with members of the Orthodox clergy.

Many have criticized the Crown Prince for the trip, claiming that the light security he has opted for is endangering his life, especially in an area bordering the openly hostile nation of Vostravia. However, the Crown Prince denounced these accusations, calling the Vojvodinians "loyal and noble citizens of our Union."

Following his trip to Vojvodina, the Crown Prince will visit Timișoara in Banat before heading back home to Munich.

The 13th of January came and went without anyone so much as seeing the then Princess Ming Shan Mai, and on the 14th, 15th and 16th this did not change, The house of Ming did not issue a statement, and we found ourselves without a monarch and under the compleat unchecked authority of the Prime Minister of Songjiang.

On the 17th accusations and speculations began to fly. But were finally silenced when the Prime Minister announced that the princess had been out of contact since her plane had gone missing in Northern Songjiang on the 23rd of December.

A massive search was conducted and the plane was found on the 18th of January undamaged in a grass field 100 miles north of Dialan. no sign to the current whereabouts of the princess, her pilot or her bodyguard were present though the princesses traditional clothes were found along with two other sets of clothing in a duffel back inside the plane.

The search continued and investigations of a possible kidnapping were initiated. Princess Ming Yi Su-Jung assumed temporary control of the monarchy in absence of Princess Ming Shan Mai. Princess Ming Yi Su-Jung is an actress and was more than a bit annoyed at having to halt the filming of her current film. She was quoted to say "I have more important things to do than babysit the throne" she then went on to demand that the authorities find her sister and urged her father to temporarily take his throne back. The former Emperor did not respond.

On the 24th of January Princess Ming Shan Mai suddenly showed up at the imperial palace dressed in casual clothing apparently explaining that she had been in japan since the 25th of December. She did not provide any other explanation for her actions and stated that the cost of the search parties and investigations would be payed for out of her personal accounts.
The following day dignitaries from around the world arrived in Songjiang to be part of her coronation. The Gold Union Monarch Otto III, and the Prime Minister of Standavia danced with the Empress during the party thrown after the Coronation, the Empress also danced with the President of Japan, and Songjiangs Prime Minister.

PSDA80 eliminates the capital gains tax that has been in place since 1964. The Act also removes the need to obtain a professional license outside of key fields. Alexandria Suffers Coup in Midst of War!

As if things couldn't get worse for the Alexandrian government, a coalition of military officers with significant commercial interest recently splintered off with significant portions of the 3rd Infantry Division. Led by General Nevzorov Mohammad, this faction has been wrecking havoc in the Cairo metropolitan area. Gulf Federation forces have begun coordinating with this rebel group in order to stamp out Alexandrian resistance. Federation Spokesman Jabril Hamzah commented, "Any friend of capitalism is a friend of ours. We can iron out the ethical and political dilemmas at a later date when hundreds of thousands of lives aren't at risk."

With an estimated strength of 6,000 regular forces, it seems that the Alexandrian government can only bide its time until Sietskan forces choose to deploy.

RED SEA CONFLICT ENDS

Red Sea- A few weeks ago, the legitimate Gulf Federation conducted large scale airstrikes against Alexandrian military, but more importantly political targets, which resulted in the death of 78, including key Alexandrian government officials. The successor, Mohammed Mohammed, was quickly deposed in a military coup on January 31st. In the past few days, huge portions of the Western Red Sea bank, including the Sinai peninsula and Suez Canal, has been added to the Gulf Federation. It is hard to see what will happen in the next few days, but our sponsors at JP Morgan & Chase have calculated that Alexandria will not continue to exist, and the Gulf Federation and their allies will now control the Red Sea, giving rise to a new "superpower region" in the Middle East. President Richard F. Walterrson said in a press statement on February 2nd that, he and the Republic of Eudocia fully supported the actions of the Gulf Federation, and supported a peaceful transition from conflict into regular life in the newly drawn up Red Sea. When asked about "troops in the Red Sea", President Walterrson said that "there would be no such intervention".

Asia- The Senate on February 15th passed the Helping Hand Act, or the Transasian Aid and Supply Intervention Act, a bill that entails over 10 billion Eudocian tax dollars, going into projects to develop infrastructure, agriculture, urban development, better education, and other aid projects in the three nations that were classed as in "great need of a Eudocian and international helping hand", words of President Waltersson when he released a press statement today at the Pillar Mansion. The Act is due to go into action in April 1980. Specific projects include the "Great Sandy Road", a project to construct a huge, modern highway stretching from Delhi to Singapore. Along with this, plans to develop the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Madras, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta. The government is investing 90 million dollars in education, primarily in the massive and overpopulated Panjal. East Minnestota Railways has also sponsored a railway program in the Khanates, stretching from one side of the nation to the other. The Republic of Eudocia intends totally to benefit these struggling nations.

Although senators were at first questioning such a massive expenditure, they were assured by several corporate representatives, that, for example, ExxonMobil Corporation will be establishing oil rights in the Khanates, bringing in billions in the next few years. Your Daily Parisian Paper, February 19th, 1980 Dubois Selected As PM Following Electoral Win The election of February 1st 1980 has resulted in a conservative surge that even two years ago would have been impossible to achieve. The conservative FN had a massive surge in the southeast, especially along the swiss border, and in Normandy proper. The Front Nationale increased its seats in the National Assembly from 146 to 215. Likewise, the Front Populaire came out of the election strong, going from 36 dissident ministers to 82. The FP performed surprisingly well in Brittany, normally a radical socialist stronghold. The only leftist party to see any growth was the left-wing Front Radical, which gained a humble 4 seats. The leftist establishment, which has domineered the political landscape for over a decade, appears to have fallen out of favor. Cambre, following the example the Premier Ministers that came before him, stepped down from his office on the 3rd of February, so that the vindicated conservatives could form a government. At first it appeared that another coalition would be dubious, given that the Front Populaire was a nationalist break-off from the Front Nationale; however François Cartier and Francis Dubois (the heads of FN and FP respectively) have a largely similar agenda and appear unwilling to try and test public opinion in a snap election. Last night the coalition agreement went into place and Minister Francis Dubois was inaugurated as Premier Minister of the Norman State by the Council of State. Premier Minister Dubois gave a powerful speech to his party members and the nation, who witnessed the event by television. Dubois called for an end of Normandy's "weak, socialist diplomacy" and poor efforts at leftist labor reforms, a major campaign issue for him, which he believes have damaged the economic growth of the nation. Dubois lauded the appointment of Foreign Minister Abel Mersault as one of the "only good results of Cambre's weak-kneed administration". Obviously feeling vindicated, Dubois went on to comment that he will work to minimize the legacy of Cambre as best he could. Empress Ming Shan Mai quickly gathered supporters in parliament to scale back the massive economy crushing military expansion plan. Pushing a vote to scrap the planned expansion of the Marines and Navy while keeping the plan to bolster the air force.

This decision was not met with warmness by the Prime Minister who had championed the bill to increase the military size by nearly double.

The Prime Minister has openly thrown accusations at the empress of weakening the Empire, while she has responded to state that such a massive build up of military forces would be far to costly to the long term financial health of Songjiang ultimately weakening it against China rather than strengthening it.

The Original budget only had a 15% vote to pass but was forced through by the Emperor and the Prime Minister despite the objections of parliament.

The funds originally intended to be spent on the military are to be instead spent on economic and industrial reforms as well as to upgrade the nations road and highway system. while this has not been hugely popular with the military especially those branches that had had there budgets cut, the amount of grumbling from the military has been minimal.

while the proposed military budget has been cut there will still be an increase in the military's overall budget. Most of the increased budget will be used to build F-16S, and A-10S aircraft for the air force though debate is continuing about creating a separate budget to produce a few more surface warships for the navy.

The Crown Prince was murdered before entering his car

Timișoara - The Crown Prince of Bavaria, while concluding his month-long tour in the southeast states of the Union, was shot dead on the street.

Karl Wilhelm waved to the crowd on the streets of Timișoara, preparing to get into his car, as a man rushed up to him with a handgun and fired several rounds into the Crown Prince's chest. The assassin was tackled and apprehended by the Crown Prince's bodyguards, and the Crown Prince was rushed to the hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

The brother of the sitting Grand Protector, Otto III, the Crown Prince was travelling to Vojvodina and Banat to promote himself among rumors of his older brother's failing health and intention to abdicate. The month-long trip, which was scheduled to conclude today, ended in gunfire.

The assassin, who was taken alive, is Ivailo Gavrilović, a 22-year-old student from Biled. Gavrilović, whose mother is a Vostravian Bulgarian and whose father was a Banat Serb, was a member of the Serb student organization "Army of the Serb Republic" (Vojska Republike Srpske, VRS), a recognized terrorist organization in the Gold Union.

Gavrilović has been charged with high treason, first degree murder, and several other crimes.

Otto III declared a period of mourning and his intention to "investigate the murder and bring those responsible to justice."

The new Crown Prince and heir to the Union is the 40-year-old Louis Ferdinand, who is the nephew of Otto III and the only son of Otto's youngest brother.

GUAP Voices Support For women's Sufferage

With only a few months until the 1980 election, the GUAP continues to flaunt its progressive doctrine as today the party leadership announced that should they surpass the CFSP, they will push for women's suffrage to the best of their ability. While many are puzzled by the decision, professional analysts suggest that the decision was made to encourage more liberal voters to change their support from the Gehlerist Party, which has historically opposed the expansion of voting rights. As the third largest party and as the primary ally of the CFSP, the Gehlerist Party holds a great deal of influence and losing support due to their more conservative policies could lead to the party losing its major status. The progressive nature of the GUAP could prove to destabilize the foundations of the union, according to multiple CFSP analysts, who also stated that making a blatant attack on the Gehlerist Party is unprecedented and "a new low for the greedy rats running the GUAP".

PEACE WITH SWITZERLAND, UCP LEAVES GOVT., BOGDANIC SURVIVES NO CONFIDENCE MEASURE
Chancellor Augustin Bogdanic returned home from Switzerland to face grilling in the Congress of Deputies

Budapest - The Chancellor of the Gold Union, Augustin Bogdanic, returned home from Florence this evening after signing a peace with the government of Switzerland. The Gold Union will be pulling troops out of Switzerland and paying a "reparation", which has not been specified. The Swiss will not be doing anything in return, but Bogdanic said that they will be "involving themselves in the European project."

When Bogdanic returned to Budapest to address the Congress of Deputies, the Congress immediately broke out into chaos, with the Vice Chancellor Wilhelm-Alexander zu Elbestrand accusing Bogdanic of being a "traitor" and having his party cross the bench and leave the governing coalition.

Afterwards, zu Elbestrand called for a motion of no confidence against the Bogdanic government, offering himself to take the reigns as constitutionally required. The motion was brought to the floor by the President of the Congress, but the Social-Unionist Party refused to support zu Elbestrand and their deputies crossed the aisle as well.

While the deputies were voting in the motion, Bogdanic quickly met with the leaders of the Social-Unionist Party and the Yiddish National Party to form a new coalition government in the event of the motion failing. The parties have enough seats to command the confidence of the house.

Meanwhile, zu Elbestrand met with Arnold Strassmann, leader of the National Centralist Party, to discuss forming a coalition if they managed to topple Bogdanic's government.

The motion eventually failed 180 to 182, and Bogdanic's chancellorship survived.

Bogdanic later announced that his new ministry will be formed within the next few days with his new coalition partners.

Despite the Gold Union's loss of face by surrendering to Switzerland, the Chancellor survived onslaught in the Congress of Deputies with a more powerful mandate.

Treaty of Barcelona:
Over the last century, the ideals of ethics, free trade and speech, and liberty have been eroded away by those who’d wish to preach false hopes to gain power. Such forces hold significant positions on the world stage, and move to help shackle the people of the world into a system of economic and political terror and despair. Though the political experiments that birthed these dictatorships were noble, their children are corrupt and a threat to free trade and liberty of all humans. This organization is not a threat, but is instead a promise. A promise to protect mankind from suffering and cruelty. The nations who’ve signed this document understand this cost, and understand what they will have to loose in order to gain.

Article 1. All signing nations must uphold the values of liberty, strength, prosperity, and unity.

Article 3. All members of the BTO must come together in times of strife. An attack against one member of the BTO is an attack against all members.

Alfredo Dantas Denounces Caribbean Federation
War Plans Leaked

Official documents have been leaked, stating that Prisalia is to participate in an imminent attack on the Caribbean Socialist Federation. PM Alfredo Dantas confirmed that they were indeed real plans, and that the Caribbean government should take it as a warning that they must switch to a Democratic, capitalist form of government, or else.

World Stands Against Prisalian Aggression



The Iberian swines of Prisalia have made an abrupt and unjustified threat of war towards the peaceful Socialist Federation of the Caribbean. We will not have another Alexandrian scenario. Until the Prisalian government redacts its threat and publicly apologizes for its imperialist policy the following signatories will be placing a full embargo on the failed Norman clone:

Chairman Xeng Diaoping himself applauded the Gulf Federation's move to reconcile for its previous policy mistakes by doing what is right when it's right.


No nation is perfect, and sometimes the passage of time is necessary in order for its people to steer it back on course. The Federation and China have had a rough patch these past few years but I can already see signs of a major shift in relations. I will personally be taking a trip to Riyadh with the hopes of achieving meaningful diplomatic progress.
