In response the Trekans pledged to help the chuukangans ultimately beginning what is commonly called "the First Elparian World War" as it is expected to drag in many more nations.

I'd like to compose a brief note on military size relative to population. As a general rule, a military should not be larger than one or two percent of a nation's total population if your government intends to maintain economic function across society. It takes vast amounts of resources to feed, clothe, equip, and supply million-man armies hundreds of miles from home, and these resources must necessarily be redirected from other economic sectors.

The most militarized society in modern history was probably Germany at the height of World War II. Using this as our benchmark, we observe that it drafted roughly ten million people into armed service from its total population of ninety million. By the close of the fighting, Germany's economy was collapsing, military quotas went unmet, soldiers were freezing or starving on the front, and rationing was essential for the civilian population. Even in less militarized societies like the United States, Great Britain, and the USSR, rationing and a lack of commodities were a constant part of life.

A large force is difficult to maintain abroad and isn't always ideal in accomplishing strategic or even tactical objectives, especially if logistical networks are lacking or impeded by the course of combat. As an example, how would you expect three million soldiers to fare marching into a desert with a similar population scattered throughout it? They wouldn't be able to live off the land and would quickly exhaust local water supplies. How many gallons of bottled water and how many pounds of rations would need to be transported to sustain this force on a weekly basis? Each soldier would need 6.5 gallons per day for both hydration and hygiene. That would be around 20 million gallons of water per day or 140 million gallons of water per week. And that's a conservative estimate.

A large cruise ship can carry about 2 million gallons. It would take seventy of those to provide a three million man armed force with enough water to survive in such an environment. The largest petroleum tankers can accommodate 84 million gallons. These wouldn't be practical for such missions, but, even supposing we could re-purpose them to fill canteens, you'd still need two per week to maintain the aforementioned force. We haven't even accounted for food rations, petroleum, and other rudimentary supplies. If even a single shipment were lost, the armed force would be at risk of thirst or squalor - with the latter being more tolerable. If a month were missed, the whole force would be compelled to surrender or die - probably both.

There’s a reason my active service personnel are so minimal, even after multiple conflicts and escalations. My government has been trying to improve economic growth and social welfare at the moment. Mass militarization would impede such policies as a rule. Besides that, I’m a bit more interested in logistics, technology, and tactics as opposed to raw numbers.

The war has hardly started RP-wise, so I'm thinking that I'd start with less active personnel, and then bring the reserve in as it continues.
