My idea is the natives’ tech levels vary, the more rural the stronger. If they are closer to a strong nation, they are weak. Overall, the choice is yours.

Sounds reasonable. Have them only have a major effect when Public Dissatisfaction is above 50%. Of course, how a nation deals with the minor squabbles of their people should affect the Dissatisfaction score.

I must say that I am surprised by the number of large nations (People with a population of 1 Billion or more) who are applying for the game. A good chunk of the map is taken up by 5 or 6 countries... perhaps starting land area should be scaled down if we get too many large nations.

I like Durzan’s Idea, but another option is if a nation has colonies overseas it could be +5 or +10 dissatisfaction.

I like Durzan’s Idea, but another option is if a nation has colonies overseas it could be +5 or +10 dissatisfaction.

I'm gonna lead with Durzans idea of a 50% threshold before significant unrest occurs, and there should be a standing 5% public dissatisfaction from colonies on another continent. Even when have empires thrived in the homeland, there was token unrest in colonies.

My idea is the natives’ tech levels vary, the more rural the stronger. If they are closer to a strong nation, they are weak. Overall, the choice is yours.

Since this is modern era, I figure majority of the native populations will at least have advanced to modern day Africa standards of living and technology. Some will be isolated, but most will at least be touched by the modern world.

Neighboring nations of players will be weaker and less developed but have similar technology as a rule of osmosis. Just less population or poorer conditions.

I'm also gonna throw in a small Boer-like state somewhere, with natives and "civilized" peoples living together independently.

Question regarding the RP, can we assume that we have embassies in all other nations (since we all live on the planet together) and we all have neutral relations and we go from there? Or do we need to reach out to do the basic meet and greet type of stuff?

One more thing, when sending soldiers, ships, tanks, etc., it takes time. There is no teleportation and movement takes time.

I think that if you had a relation with another nation before the RP began, you already have an embassy with that nation and no IC post is required to attain one. Otherwise, you would need to do a meet and greet.
