Posted: Sat Jun 30, 2018 11:34 amFor the past several centuries, the Interplanetary Federation of Gagium and the People's Republic of New Jackania have been relatively peaceful towards each other, co-existing within the outer part of the Galaxy and even teaming up against common enemies every once in a while. However, the increasingly-hostile People's Republic has rapidly expanded in recent decades, building up an advanced navy and using it to patrol the most important trade routes within the outer Galaxy.
The Federation Planet of Maglone, a somewhat small yet rich tropical world widely-known for its mineral and food exports, has been the recent target of Jackania-funded pirates for the last several months. After the Federation's Senate voted to condemn the People's Republic, they has responded with heavy trade sanctions on minerals from this world, forcing its smaller vassal states and colonies to adapt to these sanctions.
Following these aggressive sanctions, the Interplanetary Federation of Gagium's leaders on the city world of Renia have debated over the course of action. The right-wing bloc within the senate, consisting largely of senators from worlds under the threat of the People's Republic, has called for a Federation blockade of the Jackania-aligned planet Miron, a polluted wasteland planet that exports the valuable Spectrium, used for the development of various energy weapons and is used in the construction of engines on some of the Federation's largest vessels. The Federation has already begun somewhat-aggressive patrols near Jackanian colony systems.
Should the Federation's Senate approve of any blockade plans, it could lead up to war between the two powers, creating a massive conflict within the galaxy that could disrupt the balance of power and lead to the fall of either of these powers.
OOC explanation
This roleplay will begin with the politicians of the Senate of the Interplanetary Federation debating over it's course of action on the People's Republic of Jackania. After the Senate passes any plans on blockades, the Federation will proceed to launch a trade blockade of the planet Miron, which could escalate into a full-blown war between Gagium and Jackania.
The war will end once either I or Jackania surrenders, we agree to peace terms, or one of their capitals falls and enough of their main worlds are occupied to force them into capitulation. I will be the OP of the roleplay, with New Yugoslavaia being our Co-OP and playing as the People's Republic of Jackania. Feel free to join the side of either of our nations, as well as form your own side in this Galactic conflict. Since the roleplay doesn't start with open conflict ongoing, you don't really need to post until fighting starts, but it'd be nice if you could set the scene for your nation and who it's going to be aligned with. Please, don't use superweapons unless I approve of it.
The Interplanetary Federation of Gagium is a capitalist-libertarian federation consisting of over 2,000 systems and several more colonies, whilst the People's Republic of Jackania is socialist-authoritarian and consists of significantly less systems, though it's power and influence throughout the galaxy is vast.
