I'm the more advanced one, at the cost of less space.

Is it a reunited Yugoslavia in the 21st century? Is a rebel colony world in the far future? Is it a race of cyborg neo-life at war with any assimilating organisms they come across in the far far future? Who knows, who cares?

Roleplay Sample: In Case of Emergency... IV!

Do you really need to bring in tens of thousands of ships initially (Looking at just your assault force)? There's no reason for doing so as your initial fleet...try cutting that number down from thousands to a few hundred or so.

Anyways, I'll try to get an IC set up very shortly...

Not sure, although in each system there are at least 1-3 habitable worlds.

I have 1500 systems, Gagium has 2000.

I have a few things I need clarification on. So, Gagium and Jackania have 2,000 and 1,500 worlds under their control. Are they all populated and, if so, what's the average population? Also, while it has been established that they're on the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy, I'm wondering where specifically in the galaxy they are? The Milky Way has been quartered into four quadrants for awhile now. Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta... So one thing that is quite important is the approximate physical location of this thread.

Good to know. What's roughly the total number of ships owned by each of you at this point?

The Federation's navy owns approximately 100 carriers (At 1.5k meters long), 2,000 battleships (at a kilometer long), and 10,000 heavy cruisers (at 680 meters long). We have several other smaller ships, as well as 10 dreadnoughts that are around 2 kilometers long, and 3 command ships that are 3 kilometers long. There are several other armed vessels that belong to the various planets of the Federation, but they are significantly weaker than the navy's vessels (For the most part).

Nearly all of the 2,000 habitable worlds of the Federation are permanently populated, with less than a dozen unpopulated. As I mentioned, there's another 2,000+ or so inhabitable worlds owned by the Federation that are colonies. With the total core population of the federation being about 9 trillion, the average population per planet is 4.5 billion, not including colony worlds that typically have less than a million per world.

Could you try and get a higher-definition image of that map?

Good to know. What's roughly the total number of ships owned by each of you at this point?

The Federation's navy owns approximately 50 carriers (At 1.5k meters long), 1000 battleships (at a kilometer long), and 2000 heavy cruisers (at 680 meters long). We have several other smaller ships, as well as 5 dreadnoughts that are around 2 kilometers long, and a command ship that's 3 kilometers long. There are several other armed vessels that belong to the various planets of the Federation, but they are significantly weaker than the navy's vessels (For the most part).

Here's a map for reference:

This navy is rather infinitesimal, I'm afraid. Have you considered extrapolating from current real-world ship counts? Figures for the total number of warships on Earth hover around the high hundreds and low thousands and if we assume a similar quantity for your state, on a per-planet basis, it yields a far more reasonably sized fleet.

My civilization for this roleplay, CORE-Tech Industries, doesn't even have a navy. :U

Faction: CORE-Tech Industries
Leaders: Commander Caliburn
ORBAT:
The shells used by CORE-Tech are similar to the commanders of the Supreme Commander universe, although they are controlled by an exceptionally powerful AI that are protected by an equally powerful security system. Should they be hacked or destroyed, they will blow up & greatly damage only the surface of the planet they are on plus a large amount of the surrounding space. All shells are capable of using CORE-Tech, letting them teleport in a large number of stacked structures or units (up to 700 can be summoned at once, & these disappear after about a day). In addition, all shells are armed with a CORE-Tech Experimental Defense Weaponry, which is a set of exceptionally powerful shields & weaponry that lets each shell take on massive numbers of units by themselves & survive hundreds of Seraphim Experimental Bomber payloads (equal strength to nukes). They of course have innate engineering bonuses as well, & can rapidly set up bases.
Arondight Shell (accidentally teleported onto an uninhabited planet near the battlefield)
Experimental Assassin Bot Azi Dahaka: A rather small bot (in the scale that we're using in this roleplay) about the size of a small bush with an exceptionally powerful gun. Said gun fires a singular, likewise tiny shot that would likely be nearly imperceptible to most. Once this projectile strikes its target, it will firstly deal massive damage to whatever it hits, being especially potent against shields, & cause a horde of nanobots loaded with computer viruses to appear that would then attempt to damage the target's machinery & systems. However, the bot is rather feeble when confronted, & will quickly be slain, although its quick speed & the power of CORE-Tech teleportation lets it escape from most situations.
The Core, a massive structure that produces ludicrous quantities of resources, has a high-power shield, helps nearby structures be constructed or construct, outputs a fog that is difficult to see through that can eventually cover a whole planet, can create hordes of units rapidly, is heavily shielded, & bristles with hundreds of turrets for its own defense.

Once Arondight Shell constructs a full base:
All of the units & buildings usable by the factions in Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.
Spy Structure Hercules Mulligan: A building that generates a high-power stealth field that wards against most types of radar & even makes units invisible. The building additionally sends out small nanobots with cameras that attach onto enemy units to spy on them.
Lafayette Battlecruiser: An all-terrain battlecruiser that can fly around in the atmosphere, travel in water, or walk on land (can not go to space). Equipped with a radar, cameras that penetrate through the fog, Kril torpedo launchers (which function as bomber payloads in the air), Proton cannons, Heavy electron bolter, flamethrower, & Iridum rocket cannons. Designed to fly above enemies lost in the fog to destroy them while remaining undetected with its quick speed & highly-controlled weaponry, letting it delay & control its shots to fake its position.
Experimental Hurricane Blaster Alexander Hamilton: Fires a single shell that travels towards an enemy. Once above them, the shell explodes, releasing a hurricane-like formation of clouds that rains down a potent acid rain & a storm of bullets.

Alignment: Initially neutral, but waits to see the conflict & joins whoever is doing best, switching sides as necessary.
Additional Information: Commander Caliburn is certainly powerful for planetary defense, but he has no spaceships & has to rely on Azi Dahaka & its slow fire rate to hopefully snipe down any ships that decide to bombard it from out of orbit, where his weaponry won't reach — this seemingly stupid weakness for a FT nation is because most of his battles are conducted on the planet rather than above. Additionally, all units or structures created by CORE-Tech Industries can teleport in a 20*20 KM area in about half a second, & teleporting off-planet will only work on the shells or Caliburn himself & will take a few seconds (to counter this, just fire your fastest-moving projectiles or use some sort of EMP to disable them) Oh, & Caliburn is Hamiltrash.
Roleplaying Sample: Here it is.

The Federation's navy is that of a peacetime fleet, as the Federation hasn't had any major conflict in the past several centuries. However, the large shipbuilding facilities used by the various corporations the Federation has could be equipped to churn out large numbers of capital ships somewhat quickly. There are larger amounts of armed vessels that aren't in the navy, like I mentioned, as well as freighters that could easily be armed for combat.

As wealth as the Federation is, we'll be willing to buy any warships once the war begins, if anyone offers us a good deal...

UPDATE: My apologies, I don't usually roleplay FT..I suppose I can double the amount of battleships (Placing them at 2,00) and realistically have up to 10,000 heavy cruisers. I'll be adjusting the numbers to be more realistic, though the navy is still intended to be a relatively 'small' peacetime force.

You do realize that the point of an ORBAT is to list quantities of utilized assets rather than to describe them, correct? You've neatly managed the opposite here.
